My kids absolutely love to swim here. We were able to sort out some issues with my membership after a couple missed connections. Looking forward to the winter months swimming. My kids want to go every weekend. Which I love because they always nap after.

Great place with a great sense of community. Facilities are great, staff is always present and cleaning around the clock, many programs for families and children. Would be a 5 star rating if some of the equipment, treadmills specifically, were maintained more often.

We just signed up for our membership at the Eagle River Location today! We love it already and the price is very fair for the amenities they offer, as well as access to all AK Club locations!
A special thank you to Emily who hit it out of the park with showing us around and making the sign up process as seamless as possible and making us feel welcomed. Her customer service was top notch and it definitely helped solidify our decision to sign up! Can't wait to see where our fitness journey takes us with AK Club Eagle River🫶

Very frustrated that the pool opened late on Tuesday morning. No one was there to unlocked the door by 5am. We waited until 5:15am. Our swim training was abruptly canceled for no reason. Membership fees are expensive and should be compensated for poor management.

My kids have thoroughly enjoyed themselves at the Alaska Club camp this summer. They come home every day excited to tell me about the crafts, activities, workouts, and adventures they have had. They really enjoy being able to swim every day and when there is a fitness class or library trip. I feel like the summer camp was worth every penny and my kids are already looking forward to doing it again next summer!

I have been a member since May 2003. My main focus has been water aerobics. Several years ago the AK club in Eagle River (my home club) added the Floating Fitness training and it has been a game changer. The instructor on Mon. And Weds. is an amazing woman who not only motivates and encourages to push that extra effort. We have enjoyed our membership and will continue utilizing this great indoor option for training.

don’t get a gym membership here, you are 100x better off going to a smaller local gym or even planet fitness. husband and i thought we signed up for a 12 month contract only to find out we were signed up for an 18. if you want out of your contract, be prepared to pay a $400 fee (because they make you pay the enrollment fee you waived when you started). it is expensive, and it is definitely not worth it. (we pay $180 a month for two people) we ignored countless warnings from people in the community calling alaska club a “cult” i don’t know if i would call it a cult, but i would definitely advise you put your money elsewhere.

The gym has a lot to offer and is nice but the splash pad is a whole other story. The flooring, specifically in the splash pad area, is far too rough. My son has scraped his foot multiple times, and during our most recent visit, I got hurt myself—badly enough to seriously question how safe the surface really is. They were helpful but I don’t feel entirely safe going back to the splash pad.
For the amount we’re paying each month, I expect better safety standards and more attention to maintenance. Kids should be able to play without getting injured every time, and adults shouldn’t have to worry about getting hurt either. I hope management takes this seriously and makes improvements soon, because right now the value just doesn’t match the price.

By far the best gym Eagle River AK has to offer! NOT crowded ever, tons of cardio machines, weights, group fitness & cycle classes, track, pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room, splash pad for kids, childcare, kids zone, basketball & racquetball courts, personal trainers, spa services, mens/womens/family locker rooms, and after hours access. A clean facility. Friendly and always willing to help staff. What more could you ask for?! Value is worth the price. Options for individuals, families, and even single parents! Kids also FLY FREE just for being a member. Insane! WORTH THE INVESTMENT 100%.

JJ in membership was incredibly helpful and very kind in my experience signing up for the club at the Eagle River location. While the membership fees can be daunting, the cost is worth it if you are someone who works out following a regular and consistent schedule. Overall the Eagle River club is great, but the two main reasons I couldnt give 5 stars is the fact that just to have access to it requires the highest tier membership and since I live 5 min away it doesnt make sense for me to communte to a further club. Secondly, ever since they redid the mens sauna, the seating is worse off than before, they took out a whole side and lost about 3 seats, and then the height of the top bench doesnt make sense, somewhat uncomfortable to sit upright now with the difference in height between the top and lower bench.

Please fix the jets in the hot tub . They have been broken for well over a year now. Many long time members have been disappointed with the maintenance of the hot tub. This problem has been brought to the attention of management for two plus years and not much has changed. I know a few members with family membership have left because they were paying for amenities that weren’t available months through out.

Update : 11/5/1024....
Why is it the bathrooms are not as clean as they use to be... it has smelled like mildew in the showers for quite some.time.now... which seems to be everytime i have came in during the past couple .months... maybe something in the drains? i wish yall would.clean this more often... i also do not understand why you close the pool so early when most of us work and can not make during the day... it crazy to me that hotel pools stay open longer than yours especially since we have such dark winters and nothing else to do for the most part out here in this region. I wish you would bring back the schedule from way back in time.... since you fixed it i can't seem to feel like it's warm enough in the hot tub... please turn it up a little... I could sit here for hours and never actually feel hot... It's like sitting Luke water hot tub... just don't understand why it's been so low...
Im glad you finally fixed the handicap shower in the adult locker room... its been better than I've seen in the past 6 months but not like it use to be especially a year or so ago... thanks

Great gym and staff. Only recommend I would have if any, is there is a lot of wall space you could deck out with local art. The kid pool could use a larger pad at the base of the slide that is non-slip, and I was looking at the track upstairs, and if it was extended out across the gap in front that would be great! Also, probably very expensive. Just ideas!
Also I like the added value Alaska Club gave us with the jump park free of charge recently.

Useless child care for children under maybe 3. Stay at home dad here looking for an option to socialize the baby and get a little break. Never got a workout in due to the staff repeatedly calling me over. Facilities are alright. Definitely not worth the cost you pay but will pass for a rec center. Customers service is awful. Be ready to overpay and be forced into paying for massive packages for something you aren’t going to use only to have a single amenity out of that package. Unless you absolutely HAVE to have a pool, save your money and go to planet fitness.

This place has gone downhill and the only reason I'm giving it two stars instead of one is because they're still open 24 hours. The clean team doesn't clean the showers or toilets nearly as much as they should, as one particular shower had a thick film of mildew on its walls for over a week and I don't even know what's growing along the floor of one of the toilet stalls. Not to mention several people I know have seemingly received staph infections from something in this place. On top of all that, you have several members bringing their obnoxious babies and toddlers into the main locker room when it's literally against the rules. The staff seems to have no intention of enforcing this rule either. Do better, guys.

I enjoy watching my child grow in swim lessons; however, she had two different teachers throughout her 8 lessons and she did not do well with this. I always disclose that my daughter has autism on her first lesson and that she does better with routine and consistent teachers. The teacher she had the first two lessons encouraged her to float on her back and participate. The teacher she had for the final 6 lessons did not encourage or motivate my daughter at all. If my daughter said “no” or showed signs of being nervous, she just worked with the other kids in the class and disregarded my daughter. She had severely gone downhill in her swim skills and we now have a lot of ground work to redo again.

Expensive and not worth it. They don’t care about heating the swimming pool and there is always something wrong with the hot tub. We live in Alaska! No one wants to swim in cold water, it's not enjoyable. This is definitely not a 5 star gym. The lower 48 has better gyms than this that’s worth paying for.

The facility itself is great, and we are glad to have a pool not too far away that provides good swim lessons at a reasonable price. However, the pool schedules have been, in my experience, frustrating and inconsistent. Our family had a day pass, so we used it on President's Day, as they offered an extra open swim time. I guess they wanted to roll out some new toy, a giant inflatable obstacle course, because they took over 30 minutes of the open swim time to block the main pool while they inflated it. Mostly this was annoying because we had carved out a specific time to do that activity at the time during which it was advertised. I can't imagine we were the only family to experience a similar frustration. On another occasion, just before spring break, I was at the pool for a swim lesson for one of my kids, and I was told by one of the people working there that over break there would be open swim daily from 1-3p. This sounded perfect, since there wouldn't be any swim lessons that whole week. Again, I carved out the time, but when I got there, I learned that in the time between the conversation I had on Saturday morning and the following Monday morning, they had decided to cancel those open swim times. When they reminded me of their evening open swims at 6-8p, the only thing I could think of was that those times were right around bedtime. Of course I will continue to utilize the only nearby pool with lessons and occasionally inconvenient open swim times because of the such limited options in the area, but I have no interest in paying member fees to a business who's services are already irritating to work with.

The indoor track is a nice perk too during the winter. I definitely recommend this gym.

Half the things you are paying for don't work.. each club has issues.. they lied when I signed up.. I told them I was going to be moving I was just staying with family and I didn't want to sign a contract so I paid extra money to not be in a contract..and then when I tried to leave they held me to contract standards and made me give a 60-day written notice. They also took money out of the bank account for the 60 days and are holding me to that pay.. telling me I didn't have it writing.I tried to use the tanning facilities 5 separate times I would dress down get in the bed it wouldn't work get dressed go ask for help and it still wouldn't work. Sometimes the steam room works sometimes it doesn't sometimes the sauna room is hot sometimes it's not. I have tried several locations they all have issues. People are using the steam room when they're sick so I got really sick. The drains are full of hair and skin. No one follows the rules kids are running all over an adult only areas. They don't open early on weekends you can only use the pools when they're staffed hours if there's kids using the pool for swimming parties you're not allowed in if you get off work at 6:00 p.m. there's nowhere for you to swim at the east club because they have open swim for kids.. I recommend and should have followed my instincts and just paid 25 bucks a month at planet fitness... Save yourself some time and $$$ and headaches. They don't keep their word the accounting is never correct.... update ...After receiving this review.. they decided to honor the original agreement and let me go without the 60 days and refunded our $$ THANK YOU!!!

I've been a member for quite a while. Your place is alwas clean and in good repair. The staff is not only friendly but helpful. We bring our grandsons and they love the gym and the playroom. My wife likes to do the rack and the upstairs machines. I used to do the track a lo until "old' age" issues makes that kind of uncomfortable. My only compaint is that I don't get there as often as I use to. I do question as to what happened to the Netflix, etc. on the machines. I'm pretty much relagated to things like the recumbent bike, except for the short term equipment. I'm disappointed that that service has disappeared.

As a 20 plus year member of the Alaskan Club, these past few months have been the worst for maintenance and cleanness ….BY FAR!!!
My visit today started by walking into a dirty men’s locker room. Secondly, there wasn’t ANY towels to be found; I called the front desk from the locker room to request towels to shower. 20 minutes later still no towels!!! First two shower stalls entered had NO soap. Showered without towels and headed to the Hot-tub only to find the Hot Tub wasn’t working; AGAIN!!!
During the past 6 months; if the hot tub is working for at least a week out of the month, that’s a good month.
Members have been speaking about the above among ourselves. Leadership needs to address the challenges here with actions and not nice replies.

I am concerned about some of these reviews, about the locker rooms, and the employee pay, and the sauna rooms, etc. I don't understand this at all. Your membership is so expensive that the cancelation fee of $299 is cheaper than what our family was paying for monthly just so that our kids could swim. It was honestly smarter for me to cancel at that price. But where is all of this money going?

I recently became a member, not necessarily impressed with the price especially for a single member who is only in town half the time but, they kinda have you if you want the amenities they offer. Also, speaking of amenities, although they area a nice options such as the sauna & steam room, they need some serious attention. The sauna in the men’s locker room is falling apart, literally….the floor/s could use a solid scrubbing and towels that don’t feel like sandpaper would be a plus too. Overall, for $114 p/month I’m not impressed but hey, like I said they have the market in Eagle River cornered if your looking for a one stop shop.

I have been a member for a while now. Pretty good gym however they need to get some air flow in the locker rooms ASAP. Stinking up the place. Close your eyes and it’s easy to imagine yourself in an outhouse that has been heavily used on a Wednesday morning after taco Tuesday. Most of the staff is friendly but no amount of smiles can cover up that smell. They must be used to the smell by now. Also there has been this one booger on the wall that I see every day. The Alaska Club in general state wide is excellent. I work and play in anchorage and the valley and have been to all the clubs. I prefer the Eagle River Club over all the other clubs. The staff are more professional and motivating in the manner of interaction. I have observed the manager setting the standard keeping the gym clean, organized and pleasant to work out in. The equipment 97.5% of the time is in good shape. I say that because I have only seen one treadmill down. However all the weight lifting machines are in good shape provide a smooth action.
The members are friendlier and have great gym etiquette. There is not a bunch of attention seeking activity. Most members stay focused and respect other patrons. Again, I think this falls back to the the manager and the way the culture is developed among staff and members.
Great instructors at this club, I have participated in aqua aerobics "bot camp", yoga, and spinning. All these classes have excellent instructors that provide motivation and helpful tips if just beginning. When I started doing the classes I was welcomed and engaged and did not feel like maybe I was in the wrong place. Genuinely the instructors, staff, and other members are supportive in health and fitness.
My 11 yr old loves going to the gym here. If he isn't feeling like a work out there is other activities that he can enjoy or relax while catching up on homework. This gym, the staff, layout, and other members have made this place apart of our daily routine. A must have in Alaska to stay ready and fit through the year.

When we joined the club members no one been told us about swimming pool rules, and we had no problem swimming there, no one was told us my kids 5 years old can’t swim there with his life vest until today, one of the employee was swimming in the pool we wasn’t knowing she was there first or my son was there first, she ask us to leave change to other line, my son just 5 years old doesn’t know how to swim breathe in the water yet, so I asked her please to move other line, cause my son was not listening at that moment, she tell the manager let us to leave, she’s very upset because my son was swimming there, she’s stringing us all the time (very rude looking) I trying to tell the manager her name is Britney the situation, she said we been rude, not the employee was swimming in the pool, she’s told us we should leave, I told her please cancel my membership today, your service is not acceptable, the manager said she will cancel it , last word she said was “enjoy”~ poorly management very rude, we been traded very badly. This gym is very disorganized. I’ve been trying to get a personal training schedule set up since September (& have tried at various time slots to accommodate their schedule). They have rescheduled my initial consultation 3 times (at the very last minute), & the 4th attempt, the trainer was a no show. The front desk informed me there is no way to reach the instructor & that he probably slept through his alarm. Extremely frustrating! One would think an organization of this size would have it’s act together. I wouldn’t waste money on membership at this gym if you are needing personal training, which is the sole reason I joined this gym. Now I’m stuck into an expensive full year commitment & cannot get any personal training scheduled.

I love the AK Club Eagle River! it gives me an opportunity to have a well-balanced program that helps me meet my goals. Weight lifting, complemented by swimming, yoga, ballet barre, board fitness classes and most recently personal training. Jared, the GM, is a great leader who ensures the club is pristine and the staff provides excellent customer service -always professional and courteous.

I attempted to book a party for my kid 3 times and still havent recieved a single response. I went in person after the first attempt but was told that the booking manager was already gone for the day although it was only 3pm, and that email was the best method of communication for them. Apparently that was incorrect as direct email got the same lack of response as the booking request on their website. I'm done trying to give them my money- they clearly dont need any business or want it.

I like to go to the Alaska Club (Eagle River) early each day and I usually get there just before 5 AM. This is a very nice facility with lots of room and lots of equipment. The man who opens the doors and provides service at the front desk is always there on time and he does a great job of seeing that everything is operating for the day. The only thing that I notice where improvements could be made is the cleanliness of the mens dressing room on some occasions. There are times when I get there that there are towels laying around on the floor and the floor needs to be vacuumed. There was a time when the upstairs drinking fountain was out of service for quite awhile but that has now been corrected and it is working fine. I always enjoy my visits to this facility.

Your hours need to change or keep sauna and steam room open after hours over price for times that are open. Closed at 6pm on a Saturday is a joke. Can’t even use a sauna for people who work til 6.

Love this place! The staff are all so friendly and the gym and equipment are so clean. Our family enjoys the pool and racquetball court, my daughter loves the gym to practice basketball and volleyball, and I love the kids play center so I can get a consistent workout in. Super convenient water/drinks and snacks are available for easy charging to your account, too, so you don’t have to turn around and head back home if you forgot your water bottle or rummage through your locker for your wallet. And the classes are such a blast to get together with/make friends. Highly recommend.

It is all about the instructors and flow in the classes for me. I am motivated by good music greatly choreographed to the workouts. Stephanie’s yoga classes are the best pf both! The membership is worth it to me just to have this perfect yoga experience twice a week! The Power class and Centurgy are my other two must haves, but sadly, this year I am not valuing the choice of music tracts picked, nor are the workouts flowing well or in tune with the music, and sometime too loud. I would love to help with the music, or just talk to Stephanie, to help these two classes get up to par as they used to be.

I've been a member of this gym for many years. I don't want to drop too many negative comments about the club because what they did during the COVID lockdowns was admirable. I also understand that budgets are tight & employees can be difficult to maintain. I deal these same things on a daily basis. The positives are the amenities that can be obtained thru the gym; such as the massage service which I use regularly. However, it is very difficult to maintain a schedule with only 1 employee! I remember years ago there was around 3-4 massage therapist. What happened?
The gym has very good equipment & they had, up until COVID been replacing worn equipment regularly. I think a throughout review of the equipment is in order & maybe some reprogramming might help with the aerobic equipment.
I also haven't seen anybody from the "CLEAN TEAM" since I've been back. Most people don't wipe down the equipment when their done, so I'd really like to see them back in action.
Also, PLEASE keep the locker rooms & showers clean!
All that said, the locker rooms, amenities & floor plan will keep me going back but there are definitely some things that could be better.
I do appreciate the friendliness of the staff, customer service means a lot!

I love this gym… however, the only thing is, I just wish the hot tub, steam room & sauna had longer open hours every day, they close them down way too early every day!! People that work late don’t have enough time to enjoy that part of the gym… & for the money we pay for our membership, they should have longer open hours for at least the steam room & sauna!

My family and I have been members at the Alaska club for over 20 years. Over the years I have been inconsistent member. At 54 decided it was time to do my part and get healthy. That was 5.5 years ago. Every day I swim, walk , classes, shower at the Eagle River location. I have used the points system to add the Good Life for 2 months. The staff and facilities are always amazing! Clean. Well taken care of. They all greet me by name . Love, love , love my Ak club family ! Thank you so much Ak club Eagle River

I’ve been to numerous alaska club locations around the state and I feel like the eagle river club is the dirtiest. I understand the time of year is tough, but other clubs seem to manage it quite well.
Also…I’ve been a member here for probably 5 years now and not 1 employee (besides the girls at the front desk) has stopped to talk to me. I’ve worked at numerous gyms in my life and a huge source for membership sales is current members. It doesn’t feel like they are utilizing that source to the company’s full advantage. I prefer to go to clubs in anchorage over eagle river because of these factors.

You get Kicked out of pool & saunas 5 to 20 minutes early sometimes that's all I need from the sauna is 5mins after a workout & it gets taken away by the manager who wants to lock up & leave early. The equipment is available 24-7 that's convenient. There is a variety of top notch equipment. The layout is nice and its kept clean. Accounting dept. is easy to talk with via email I wish they had a courtesy email of auto draft for monthly fee as it was a bit messy for me at first with extra fees. I also wish they did more for smaller families like a couples membership to a fam of 3 but all they offered was a single or a family of 5 that's a big leap and nothing in between. Also wish they did monthly sale specials for there in house merch & services for adults but they only run specials for children camps, Daycare & parties. I have made these suggestions known to accounting including the early closures and it falls on def ears. Aside from the downers I enjoy the Alaska club always being available in all locations the attendants workers are super polite & friendly.

As a family we enjoy our time at the Eagle River club. We like the variety of equipment and the overall atmosphere. Everyone is friendly too! It’s the only place we’re happy working out at in Alaska. 👍🏻👍🏻

Very overpriced (100-105$ a month) unless you are a family that wants pool access. Gym equipment and variety is mediocre, far worse than their less expensive Silver level club at West, and they are slow to repair/replace some equipment. Unfortunately it's this or Planet Fitness in Eagle River, though.

I appreciate the Manager Jared and his staff. They are dedicated and work hard. The gym is clean and staff are friendly. Unfortunately, when they went 24 hours a day, they discontinued staff on certain holidays that I used to enjoy the sauna and hot tub. Now those services are off limits. I'm disappointed by this. Overall, I'm impressed with the AK Club ER's ability to adjust thru the pandemic. Excellent job!!!

Overall the gym is amazing. The staff is amazing, variety of equipment, clean facility. The child care is what keeps us coming back. We love the childcare workers so much. The only reason I knocked a star of is because of the starfish academy swim lessons. While the actual instructors are great, there are lots of inconsistencies within the program and we have had multiple instances of frustration over the last 8 months there. The gym management and staff are really amazing though. We would recommend!

The Alaska Club in Eagle River is alright. I go to the gym 4-5 times a week. The gym has multiple treadmills that are always down. So if there are 4 people running, the other 5 are down and don’t work. The gym only goes to 100 lb dumbbells. I have asked for years for the gym to get heavier dumbbells, I shoulder press 100 lb dumbbells for 8-10 reps and I can’t go heavier because they are not available. I’m not getting my Gains!!!!

A great gym a couple cosmetic issues but over all good there is only one machine out of a good 100 that needs work and many different areas to do different things. I personally have never taken any of their classes or training sessions but I’ve heard great things. I’ve tried planet fitness in eagle river as well and idk how but the Alaska club seems even less judgmental. If only there was a way to use saunas after hours.

We are “regulars” at the Alaska Club, having been members for over 20 years. Until 5 years ago our membership was used to support our school age kids in their athletic endeavors, we adults didn’t go as often. Retirement and aging spurred us to focus on our well being, and we are loving the Eagle River Club! The facility is clean, well maintained, friendly, and welcoming.
Try it out, and treat your self to a better life!

I've been working out at the Eagle River Alaska Club for over 12 years now. It has everything I need to be successful in getting the best workout possible. There are many classes to choose from. Also, my kids play basketball in the gym, use the swimming pool for lessons, and when they were little they had fun in the play area of the day care. I have much appreciated the after hours door they recently put up. It gives me the comfort of knowing I can workout whenever I want.

I just found out that on the weekends I can't bring my kids in the gym past 6 o'clock.
Now I understand that after hours they don't want a bunch of kids running around. But for as much money as we pay, if I wanna go work out at 2:00 in the morning and I decide to bring my kids with me (who are older by the way,but not 18) I should be allowed the right to do that.
And as long as they're not running around and playing on equipment who cares if I bring my kids at 2 or 3:00 in the morning? What if my 9 year old son just wanted to come with me and sit on the bench?
I can't do that? This is ridiculous for as much money as we pay.

While the Eagle River club is very nice inside, with good amenities; the management and decisions of the Alaska Club are poor. They are over priced as well as, not courteous. They have adjusted their summer hours in the past to close early, while still charging the same price. When calling into member accounts, Jacob was less than courteous, sounded like he hates his job, and not helpful in the slightest. Customer service is what caused me to cancel my membership at The Alaska Club.

Signed up for a 99$ plan and have been continuously charged 137$ a month called accounting repeatedly and no answer. Tried leaving a voicemail and there box was full. Emailed them and after 2 weeks they replied saying the extra money would be put towards the next few payments which would’ve been fine. However the same thing keeps happening and now it’s been over 2 weeks and I haven’t gotten a reply. Very unfortunate to be treated this way. All they care about is making money asked definitely not about their customers.

I never come here completely willingly and I always leave tired...and that is the sign of a great gym. Everyone is really friendly, there are a variety of classes offered for all fitness interests and levels, and the facility is clean and bright. People join just for the sauna, whirlpool and spa services. This location now offers 24 hour access as well. They have a great swimming program for kids and adults and they offer a fun indoor playground spot for supervised childcare and an area for older kids to play as well. They always keep their store stocked with a varied selection of athletic clothing and healthy snack options as well. My trainer, Katie, she is amazing and you would be lucky to get on her schedule. I’ve taken Power Class with Kristi and she is an extremely motivational instructor. She teaches Aqua Class too and I’d recommend anything she is leading. All the staff members seem knowledgeable and dedicated, I highly suggest their training program!
