This club was very generous opening up their facilities to service members during the most recent government shutdown. Our swim team was able to continue training while the pool on base was closed, which was a massive boost for morale as well as fitness. We are tremendously grateful for the club’s support.

I was in Anchorage, Alaska for 5 days for a conference and I took my young son's along (11 and 13) with me.I figured we'd go to a couple of movies and maybe an arcade or something..I discovered that the Alaska club had a sweet little indoor Water Park..It was fun from the second we met the staff. They welcomed us, and seeing as we were not members ,they charged a very reasonable fee(less than a movie). They had shorts ,goggles ,ice cold drinks and the best uncrustables in the Western Hemisphere!!They had many locker rooms for the boys and it was very clean & unlimited towels!!I went down waterslides,we laughed floated, steamed, sauna, unlimited showers with soap and shampoos.I took a break from swimming because I'm old and discovered the message section..I can't say enough nice things,it really made our vacation a great one and the boys love Alaska because of it.We went 3 days out of the 5 and I had an Olympic sized swimming pool to myself for an hour..I did 25 laps on my back and laughed .It was almost a religious experience.I thank the staff at the front desk and the guy keeping the towels clean and dry.We spent 18 hours there and want more..It's pretty much the best place in Anchorage, Alaska.Next time I get up there,The Alaska club is my first stop ..even before the hotel.I wish the Alaska club was around the world..All wars would cease instantly.Thank you so much!

We love Alaska Kids camp. Our boy always comes home tired after jumping for an hour and swimming for 2 every day. And for us we love that we can sign up by individual day, as we don't usually need childcare coverage every day of the week! The south Anchorage location is also great for us.

The staff was great with kids. My 7 year old got plenty of socialization and exercising every day. She loved the camp staff and still hugs friends she sees in the community from camp. It’s also more affordable than many of the other day camp programs out there. It’s a great investment!

The equipment is old even though they are charging all this money. Some of the machines you cant adhust to your body or fit on no matter what level you do. They are not made for all body types or heights. The short latino guy over at the summit side is rude and impatient with you if he doesnt know you. He speaks to some patrons who i guess he likes but he doesnt speak to everyone that walks in and acts like you are bothering him and wasting HIS time even though you are paying $161 a month to be there. They could update the locker rooms as well and not have the towels be so rough. In the womens locker room they dont refill the soap shampoo conditioner bottles and they let the asian women talk loud and yell in the sauna and hot tub and steam room area. Its not a quiet zone. For some reason these older women take it as a community center to habg out and talk loud to each other so you cant relax. They also break the rules putting on their eucalyptus oil and body oils in the sauna and steam room and suffocating you with the smells..they could do a better job cleaning this area as well. Even though most of the women who come here appear to be 50 plus, they are not clean and leave their hair and other things all in the showers. Its like a college dorm experience instead of a luxury one. Noone is there to help you learn how to use these old weight and cardio machines. And the wifi cuts off all the time so youre music and things while working out buffers and slows. Also they dont tell you that the classes have limited availabilitt and are mostly for retired people only offered at 5am and 9am whsn theb younger people are working. You will hardly be able to go to all of the classes that you want. Also the summit gym is not 24/7 so you have to try to get everything done by 9pm or 7pm on the weekends. I want to upgrade my fitness so i am trying this but they really have their nerves charging these prices for this old outdated place. The app doesn't work even though they have these posters up about the app and they dont tell you about the apps and all of the services avail. I have the app and its useless you're not able to see when classes are. I've had to ask people around the gym for help because the employees either aren't interested or don't seem to know what to do. When you mention that you have an appointment with someone they seem so lost and or they can't find the person or contact the trainers or seem to know who the other staff members are. I feel so bad for the people that have to work with the short guy over on the summit side- he doesn't talk to his coworkers or help train them. He only steps in to tell them what they are doing wrong. I'm going to rotate around to some of the other locations to see if they are maybe a bit different. If you have to go to the website still for everything what is the point of the app and the website is confusing it's like they're trying to keep you from enjoying all of the full benefits of membership. Youre not able to book the massage or facials thru the app and you need another app to connect the tv and music to your phone. There are not tvs to look at working at so youre Just staring at a gray wall the whole time unless you play around w the ridiculous fetch app thing to watch tv on the machines. I'm annoyed. The t3chnology in the gym and on the website is soooo old.... you would think we were back in 1995. After you sign up they just abandon you to figure all of it out on your own. Alsonthey advertise facial and massage but have no availability at all. It makes no sense. And there is no staff or access to the sauna/steam room or summit side during"after hours". They should be able to find staff to be at least at the front desk of each side if nothing else

Terrible management for a gym. The men’s locker room smells like piss and it’s likely from the used urinal cakes they put in locker room trash. I brought this to the attention of Jared who was the manager and he angrily waved it off saying trash was going to be taken out soon. The guy visibly looked pissed off that I even brought this up in the first place 😳
A small example of the lack of attention to detail and it shows unfortunately.

The camp didn’t do a good job of explaining the schedule or toileting plan to younger campers. The counselors seemed to be there to watch over the children and not engage with them. I had to force my child to go daily for the week he was signed up for camp.

I love the Alaska club summer program for my son. I especially like the fact that he gets to go to fly every day and jump for an hour and go swimming for over an hour and a half every day. He gets plenty of exercise, he really enjoys it. My son loves to swim and he loves fly so the fact that both of these are included in the Summer Camp program is absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend them.

The cost for the camp is excessive and not worth it. This year my kiddo did not seem to enjoy themselves from their report. Swimming is a smaller part of the camp which was disappointing. This is our third try so reserved reviewing initially but now with 2 kids gone thru over multiple years there are much better places to spend your money on camps for your kids.

Ever since the water park was completed, it’s become our go-to place for family bonding with my kids and nephew, and we always have a great time. However, the family bathroom could use some attention, as it tends to get clogged frequently. A little maintenance there would make the experience even better.

“The Summit Club has great facilities overall, but it does get quite crowded at times, especially in the women’s locker room, which can feel a bit uncomfortable. Hi!!! Macy is an amazing at customer service !!! I was blessed to see her defuse two situation one with a walk in and one with a member. The walk in didn’t want to sign the waiver to come in and Macy just stay calm without being rude or showing any emotion and didn’t budge from company policy, finally the walk in gave in and sign the waiver. Kill them with kindness. The second one was a member who had a little edge on him when he came in with his two kids and tried to drop them off and leave and she wants again politely told him he couldn’t just drop off his kids with out an adult be with them. He began screaming at her and she still didn’t brake! Wow! She never broke ! She stayed calm until he finally decided to stomp out the door 🚪. She is very good at defusing situation with people and very friendly . Your cleaning 🧹 staff are awesome ! They are always friendly and helpful and willing to go above and beyond to help the members and keeping things clean 🧽 around the facility.

Y'all for real need a better 24 hour security system, every night after hours especially the weekends when staff is gone. Kids, Middle Schoolers, High Schoolers are all constantly trashing the place and sneaking themselves and a whole bunch of friends in at night. It is so obvious that many of them are not members and just take advantage of the poor security system.Weight room, basketball court, and locker rooms are always left a huge mess. Do something about it please. Not only that, they are also disrespectful to actual members who just want to get a workout done. I suggest an overnight security guard or a better scanning/security system cause right now it is just being taken advantage of.

This is a good gym with lots of room for improvement.
For example, I have never seen anyone re-rack the weights in their proper locations so the dead lift rack often has a bunch of fives and tens, but the bench press does not.
It would take an employee about an hour to go through and make sure that everything had the proper number of weights. I don’t know why they don’t do that.
Once a day, all the weights should be re-organized. Twice a day all horizontal surfaces should be wiped down. The stuff is simple fitness club management. It would go a long way tour, a healthier, cleaner, and easier to use gym.
Although I do feel stupid for paying. After the staff goes home at night, the teenagers let their friends in for free. They make a mess. They seem to care about saving money by not hiring someone to clean up, but they don’t care if people use the place free of charge at night.

The AK Club has some fantastic instructors. Kathie teaches great classes like Group Active and others. She is a talented instructor, giving prompts for upcoming movements with enough time for uncoordinated people like me to be able to prepare and keep up. She tailors movements to all abilities and is welcoming to all. She gets 10 stars. Generally the Alaska Club could benefit from investing more in maintaining its clubs. The towels are stained, and the water in the ladies shower room at West is often cold. Parking is a real problem in the evening/weekends and sometimes results in Instructors being late. This is surprising when paying over $100/month in membership fees.

The price is sky-high, and despite this, your managers allow themselves to ask irrelevant questions. I've been to your club a couple of times and I can't say you're worth the money. I have something to compare with and your happiness is that there are no competitors here that are on the mainland. You are not flexible, not clean, overcrowded, What do I have to pay for even with the discount from my company?

Extremely disappointed in the services and the facilities. We have been members in the past and canceled our membership due to lack of care in the childcare. We decided to give the club a shot again because my son wanted to get in shape for his summer activities. When we signed up the member services employee (who apparently no longer works there) gave us the tour said my son (who is 11) could use the weight room with parental supervision. After 3 months of using the club, today we were told he couldn’t be on the weight room floor because he isn’t 14. This is 75% of the reason we joined!
The women’s locker room is constantly flooded with children screaming and running around. So today I went to the front desk - because there is a sign that says children under 14 are not allowed in the locker room - and I asked them to get those kids out. There was a fight between a member and two moms in the ladies locker room a few weeks ago about this as well. If my son has to follow the rules, then those moms do too.
The locker room is always disgusting - hair everywhere, showers frequently cold if they even work, dirt and rocks all over the floor, the family locker rooms are even worse. There’s always dirty band-aids in the pool and a million children in the hot tub.
I gave up my Planet Fitness $10 a month membership for this filthy place. PF somehow manages to keep their gyms in pristine, sparkling, wonderfully sanitized condition for $10/mo. But since H2Oasis and the Alaska Club are both disgusting I have to conclude it’s because of children. Weekends are the absolute worst because of an absolutely insane amount of birthday parties that they do not have the staff for to make it pleasant to all the other members trying to use the gym. If they want this place to be Chuck E Cheese they are headed in the right direction.
The best part of this club is that my son can play basketball while I run on a treadmill - but other than that, extremely disappointed and NOT worth the money for the quality of the facilities and the sheer madness that happens at the south club.

Completely disappointed with the lack of care of the front staff. My family and I arrived for a children's birthday party and were greeted with such a cluster at the front door. I have a potty training toddler that needed to use the restroom. When I toddler says they have to potty you have literally limited time to get them there ! I ask the lady upon arriving if I could take her to the potty and come back to sign in . She told me everyone had to sign in first and I could take her to the potty in the children room. After waiting to get everyone signed in and follow all of these unnecessary procedures my child had an accident right there. We also had to sign in every person that was attending the party. I get signing in but was it really that important that it couldn't wait. Any restroom would have been fine! However we could only go to the restroom down the hall in the kids party room. Aweful customer service the looks on their face as there lack of urgency showed.

I’ve been a member of the Alaska Club since 2010. The facilities and customer service has only deteriorated over time. (I’m a platinum member)
Operating hours - occasionally, the pool is open in a timely manner (5 am) but the Club management does nothing to fix this problem. Instead they won’t let you in a minute before 5.
Equipment — The treadmills and stair steppers work 50% of the time. I’ve been on several treadmills that stop working abruptly. The live TV option doesn’t work on several machines since they switched from GCI to DirectTV. This is also true for the Summit side. I’ve reached out to management multiple times and they haven’t fixed this issue. If you workout first thing in the morning, there are no sweat towels available.
Locker room- the lockers are pretty dirty where I have to use a towel before I put down my stuff. The bathrooms and showers are not cleaned daily.
Pool - The pool is probably the worst maintained of all the amenities. Lately it’s been murky and has a slight sewer smell. Not to mention lots of hair and debris floating around. Also, the pool is closed to lap swimming majority of the day due to Aquatic programs or Open Swim hours. The pool area was recently expanded to add a Splash Park and warm pool, I think that budget would’ve been better spent to improve existing pool infrastructure.
Unfortunately, it’s one of the only facilities that offer a gym with pool in Anchorage. Both east side facility and Fairbanks South are much better than the South Club (but quite the drive from where I live).

Birthday Party
1. No direction, help, of anything.
2. “Party Room” as they may call it was a small little boxed room, closet would be more appropriate.
3. Parking was difficult and could not find a spot let alone our guests and the other 4 or so parties going on.
4. Place was dirty and smelled
5. No shoes in pool area, seems as though they only selectively enforce that rule.
6. Toddlers and older people had to climb two flights of stairs.
7. Could not see anything from the location of the party room, no windows or anything.
8. Two other parties in the same area, one had another closet and the other was just in the open from both rooms so people were constantly walking through another party.
9. $340 for a dirty, dismal, no help, mot even cheap tablecloths were provided.
10. If you are bringing a-lot of stuff remember teo flights of stairs.
11. No adjacent bathrooms.
12. Floor was soaking wet from other party and floors and bottom a serious concern for safety.
13. One interaction ten minutes before your designated two hours was up letting us know we had ten minutes to s and had to get out.
Manager said we were told, not true at all that was never conveyed to us about the rooms. As you look through the reviews you can clearly see there is an issue with this place, cleanliness, sanitation and multiple other issues.
A total waste of money for what was received and extremely disappointed. Not a well run place and especially not for a birthday, grateful to get out of there!

UPDATE: I had the opportunity to speak with General Manager, Jared at AK Club South on February 11th regarding my situation. He confirmed that he had reviewed the video footage and saw the belongings I mentioned. Jared verified that they were in locker #210 and explained that the locker had been cleaned out back in September. (I know—wow, it’s been that long since I last went to the gym!) He also informed me that they only hold items for three months before donating them.
I estimated the value of my lost items to be around $300-$400. Jared generously offered me a credit on my account, which I declined. Instead, he suggested replacing my Beats by Dre headphones and providing a $100 credit for my shoes. Although I wasn’t able to recover my original items, I truly appreciate the resolution.
I want to extend my gratitude to Jared at AK Club South for handling the situation professionally and efficiently. He was highly communicative throughout the process, and I’m thankful for his assistance. Thanks again, Jared!
****ORIGINAL POST****
The Alaska Club (SOUTH):
This is the second time my lock has been cut. They claim I was assigned to another locker, but I’ve been using the same locker for 6-8 months. I explained to the current manager that when I first got my locker, the front desk woman assigned me to #200, but when I went to put my things away, it was already in use. I immediately went back to the front desk and asked if I could switch to #210. She verbally confirmed that the change was made. I thought everything was settled.
I pay monthly for this locker and had all my belongings inside—brand new shoes, brand new Beats by Dre, and my duffle bag. The manager, Andrew, claimed that they record themselves removing items from lockers, but he refused to show me the video because my name wasn’t assigned to locker #210. He also claimed that they never took anything from that locker and that they don’t have my belongings.
The first time this happened, I wasn’t aware that you had to rent a locker, so that was on me. However, they had my things stored in a bag in their break room upstairs, and after that incident, I signed up for a locker to ensure this wouldn’t happen again.
Now that it’s happened a second time, I’m beyond frustrated. There were no emails, no calls, and no text messages notifying me of anything. What’s the point of paying for a locker if my belongings aren’t safe?
The manager, Andrew, was completely unhelpful and basically told me I’m out of luck.
I submitted a request through their website on Saturday, 2/8, asking for someone to contact me about this issue. If anyone has any insight on what I can do next—or if someone from Alaska Club can reach out to me—I’d greatly appreciate it. I just want my belongings back!

I booked the vitality booth for noon-1220 on line early this morning. When I went to the front desk at 1155 to check in, I was told someone else was in there; apparently the front desk booked someone in over my appt, apologizing saying only a couple more minutes "like 1205". The room did not become available until 1215. This delayed a different appt that I had following my scheduled time. Very unhappy that the front desk people did not check bookings and seemingly just let someone in on my time. Warning to others from this to maybe clue the desk of an on line booking as they are not paying attention. Defeats the purpose of on line booking.

I originally got into a 12 month contract paying $40 a month. My job was paying the difference. Last month I ended up transferring jobs. So I was contacted by accounting about closing my membership since my prior job wouldn’t be paying the difference. I agreed, and was told I would just have to pay one more month. What I wasn’t told was that I would have to pay $119. I entered the contract at $40, and that’s what I planned on paying. It just shows how money hungry this company is. Not to mention the basic membership subscription is way overpriced. The gym will argue that you have all these amenities included, but what if all I want to use is the weight room? There should be a tier list of amenities that you decide you want on your membership, and each amenity will cause a raise in your membership price. If all you plan on doing is using the weight room, I would save your money and go to a different gym.

No lifeguards present at the pool for a child almost drowning. “They were all on break.”
Poop in the kids’ pool with staff not trained to handle it, and they let people keep swimming while they figure out what to do while also barring families from showering the nasty water off with the one available shower.
Bare minimum childcare standards for staff working the kid room.
Get your stuff together, AK Club. For your prices, this is shameful and embarrassing.

The quality comes nowhere close to the price. If money is no object, this may be the place for you. If you care about the gym you focus your health, wellness, and community on I would recommend Southside Strength & Fitness, or really any gym in Anchorage other than the AK Club (any location).

The South location was super clean, inviting, and all the fitness equipment was in great condition and updated. The front desk staff was extremely friendly and the manager, Jered, was so knowledgeable about all the clubs and gave me a lot of great information. I toured with a gentleman named Grayden, who ultimately convinced me to join. 11/10 highly recommended for anyone who wants a safe and clean environment to work towards their fitness goals.

After having a conversation with the staff on the phone, I was assured that the gym would give me a weekly pass. Additionally I had gone on line and arranged for a free day pass. When I arrived a manager was called. He totally dismissed the conversation I had with the person on the phone. Additionally the free pass from the website was not honored. He also informed me there were no weekly passes. Very disappointed.

New member for about a week and everything has been absolutely wonderful! Lindi at membership was so welcoming and answered all my questions about the gym. Emily at the Summit learned my name the first few days and was really cool with customer service. The equipment is nice and the pool w/ the bball court across is an awesome combo for the kids. I love the location with Fly being next door and membership giving free 2 hours to the kiddos - how is this not winning?
My current routine: kids to trampoline park while I get my workout on or even just to get a massage and a coffee - Emily told me that I can just hangout in the lounge area for as long as they are open (Summit side). This will most likely be my home gym everytime I visit Anch.

Only the main person of the members plus can utilize any amenities otherwise additional accounts are required an additional funding even if they’re your children and they live in your house, I was told otherwise when I signed up for the membership, also, the hot tub always has a bunch of kids in there unsupervised which has a sign right beside the hot tub that says you must be 14 years or older or a company by an adult. I wouldn’t swim in that hot tub. It looks filthy them kids urinating in that small area with no adult supervision has a weird pissy smell
make sure you have some type of format (in writing )= paperwork or =video recording of these people when they disclose faults information just to sign you ,
You can tell the people that worked there obviously hate their job or try to utilize it by picking up Women at the establishment that come to visit or work out I watched it with my very own eyes right in front of me and my 16yr old daughter very disrespectful!!
The front attendance were very rude and disrespectful after that I’m canceling . They will lie too you in a minute to get you to sign up for membership!!! strongly do not recommend.

The basketball gym situation is a joke. High schoolers take over from 4-10pm. You can’t even get a hoop to shoot on because they run games not stop. The employees need to help facilitate the gym better. The Membership Manager Jake is rude and harassed me twice for telling him “he sucked” on how he dealt with a complaint. His words, “we can’t do anything about it”. Good job for the lack of trying Jake.

Going down hill rapidly. You now pay $150+ for a membership and have to listen to radio with commercials blasting in the gym. Please pay for a streaming service without commercials.
Update! Still listening to commercials at the MOST expensive gym in Alaska. They also can’t figure out the temp on their sauna after 10 plus years. Zero F’s given by management. Would have tried to leave a request/comment card but they don’t have them at the gym. Shocker. Back to my mid workout McDonalds commercials. Nothing says one more rep like a McRib.

Love The Alaska Club! Moved to Anchorage from Florida and at least in the lower 48 you never totally trust a gym, one never knows what games they might play... not here in the AK! This gym is friendly, tons of locations, great staff, clean and great equipment! I can't say enough about The Alaska Club! Let's face it, it's cold out there at least half the year and if you think you're going to go all Rocky Balboa and run up the snow mountain in December... well, guess what... you're not! (cuz it's -20 and mostly we barely want to run through the parking lot to our car) But, you'll probably go to a nice gym, with a sauna and a hot tub! Pay the money, it's welllll worth it!

For the most part the membership payment is worth it if you actually use it. I mainly play racquetball 3-4 times a week, but it is nice to be able to access the other features for stretching and weight training. If I were only lifting, I would probably choose a different gym for the price, but AKC has the racquetball courts, so here I am.
Cleanliness in general is good, but if you look deeply, you will see what you don't want to see. (I'm still watching a used razor head that's been in the corner of a shower for weeks now - wear your shower shoes).
Repairs tend to take a whiiiile to be addressed (door latches not working right; shower heads/handles; faucets; leaks on racquetball courts)...to the point we members have joked about bringing in our own tools and then just sending an invoice to AKC. But if you wait long enough, they eventually work it out.
Staffing in general is good. Nice people for the most part. I think they still need some help, and certainly people who can take pride in their work. I haven't worked with a trainer, so cannot speak to that.
Member for at least 7 years now. The racquetball community keeps me there. Love those people!

If you belong to the Summit and are a late afternoon person, you may know me by sight. I have been a member since 2007, most weeks coming to the gym 4-5 times a week.
I like the gym and it has some pretty unique features. The snow plowing of the parking lot is so subpar year after year, I have now decided it must be a feature. As you navigate the deep ice potholes you can test your agility. We all know agility is a feature of fitness we all aspire to.
That last big snowfall Wednesday through Thursday in early November was not plowed until the weekend. This allowed the snow to pack down to ice that will probably be around until March. They did put down gravel, that either has melted into the ice or been pushed to the low spots, so your agility can still be tested.
If you do happen to fall you can access your bone density. Nothing broken or cracked, you are good to go.👍The Summit provides large fluffy towels that you can use along with some ice from the lemon ice water they have strategically placed around the gym if you fall requires icing.
Currently the parking lot light by the entrance is out so you can test your low light vision when you try to determine where the slippery edges of the ice potholes are.
The gym can be a bit dirty sometimes, but mostly it’s okay. The Summit has an employee, Helen, that I think of as the locker room ambassador. She is always upbeat and actually works out at the gym so she is very aware of what is needed. She often cleans things that don’t need cleaning everyday, but do need attention. She is an upbeat addition to the locker room.
I have worked out consistently for the last 45 years, in many locations across the country. The gym is pretty good, you rarely need to wait for a machine. The online classes are a gift. You can create your own yoga environment anywhere, and take a great class with Xochitl. She is easy to to follow, the workout is always different, and she provides modifications, the online feature is part of membership. So please join our gym so they can be profitable enough to have snow plowing that is comparable to the food store a quarter mile away. I would give the gym 4 or 5 stars if the parking lot was not so dangerous.

Has the best equipment because of being on the nicer side of town. The single family bathrooms are dirty, like to the point I’ve taken notice on multiple days just to see if they change. They haven’t ,not sure if it’s short staffed but that’s no excuse for not scrubbing bathrooms. Especially at the price families pay. Also keeping the steam rooms at 102? The rest of the clubs keep at 123 ish so you actually have a relaxing experience. I’d rate 5 stars due to the fact of it being a better place than the other Alaska clubs but due to the dirty bathrooms, and the steam it kinda ruins the experience.

A few days later At the Alaska State fair I was given a free day guest pass to access any club from Alaska clubs fair booth. I came in to use my guest pass and the front desk required me to check in with a saleswomen and the saleswoman told me it was policy that I have to be wanting to sign up for membership if I wanted to use the guest pass. Alaska Club has really gone downhill. They can't seem to keep workers due to minimal pay which affects the club. They are almost always out of towels in the locker rooms. There is obviously a need for family swimming but they are extremely limited on times and overcrowding the times that are available. The small pool is closed half the time due to camps and swim lessons. The hot tub is even worse. They are far overpriced for the availability. There are very limited options for family swimming in Alaska but I will not be choosing the Alaska Club.

Its incredibly frustrating and disorganized trying to contact people for help-- even tasks as simple as switching my email address or finding someone to help when you're actually at the club. I've also made it a point to sign up my son for swim lessons, but each time there are several classes cancelled (one month over half the classes!) another time, they told me I was at the wrong class after 3 sessions (I had asked 2 different staff members if I was in the right class). The Alaska Club South has been a great place to workout in general. Their classes, and especially the instructors, are really top notch! The rest of the gym is like any other gym in general. Things I don't like: the classes are very full, the gym is extremely busy and space is limited at best, parking at peak times is cut-throat, the young workers at the front desk tend to ignore you when you come in because they are on their phones or chatting, the locker room is shabby.
This is incredibly minor, but the aesthetics at the south gym have always bothered me. Who picks those colors??? I favor the much sleeker East branch.
The membership is very high compared to the other gyms in town but you have access to a pool and other things you wouldn't at other gyms. However, if you don't use the pool and other amenities, it just feels like the cost is too much. I wish they offered different levels of membership so you could tailor it to your preferences and not overpay.
All in all, our experience there is good and I would recommend joining. Its a great place for families.

They will harass you if you inquire about their “club”. Called for my father to ask how much it would cost to lap swim for 3 months since they don’t post any fee information on their website. Brooke answered the phone and apparently had her own intentions since it took over 5 minutes of repeating myself before she finally told me the cost. I promptly ended the phone call. 2 days later I received a text from her which I blocked immediately. 2 days after that she called my phone from a different number and left a lengthy message trying to promote the gym. I never gave her my phone number. I can only assume she pulled it from caller id. Very unprofessional and disturbing.
Update: as you can see from their response below, they only think what they did was inappropriate because I was calling on someone else’s behalf. Even if I was the inquiring party it’s still harassment and a disgusting business practice. Double shame on you.

But they charged me for the months I said I won’t be around the state anymore and won’t be needing it. I emailed them a month prior before I leave the state as to what was talked about but they insisted on having to have a 60 day notice so they can cancel my membership. Like this was never disclosed to me and I only needed this gym temporarily but why would I need a 60 day notice if I only used the gym less days than that? Their staff doesn’t want to listen to you, AT ALL and doesn’t take actions to what they have said and to what was talked about. I have proofs of said communication but they do like their money! I wish you guys all the best! Thanks for grabbing more money from me without my consent.

It's open 24/7 now i get off at midnight so theres not much in terms of options for me but i digress the prices are extremely expensive at $109 a month for a single person and they lock you into a year long contract and charge you $200 to cancel not sure what ill do if im fired it may be easier to withdrawl all my money just so i dont need to deal with it but on that note u best be sure you're on your best behavior did you desrespect the equipment fined $50 did you have a verbal altercation $50 fine did you forget to shower before swimming $50 of course im exaggerating a tad but they can and will fine you gor every rule break they save your bank into their system so u dont have a say whatsoever this is a very predatory business practice but like i said i didnt have much of a choice

Great fitness club. Helpful staff. I'm really loving the outdoor "Open Air" fitness area right now! It's been very enjoyable using it since the weather has been so warm and sunny!

I love being a member of AK Club! All of the amenities they offer are great! Staff is always friendly and welcoming! My kids love the play centers and the pools! The cardio equipment is top notch and it’s always very clean! I highly recommend AK Club for a judgment free, feel good, family-time facility that my family and I enjoy being a part of!

We have such a good time during our first time tour with Jariel. Jariel answers all questions we have and very mindful to everything. He took us to your the building and explain details very wells.

Steam room is down. This shouldn't happen. It's everyone's favorite part and, for some, our incentive to work out. #verydissappointed

I wish there were more early morning cardio classes throughout the week for people who have to work 4-5 days a week. I am not a group power person so those classes are not enjoyable for me. There was a Wednesday morning class that was pretty good but I guess because of attendance it was cancelled. Which I do not understand because I have gone to other classes and there are only 4-5 people who attend, yet those continue to be on the schedule. So that is lame for me and anyone else who starts at 7:30am.

Ended up getting conjunctivitis in my eye from the unclean bathrooms. Their contracts are horrible and the facilities need a lot of work.

I come here daily. Not on par with other comparable gyms in the lower 48. AK South has had a leak in the roof for who knows how long. Employees have largely been unhelpful, unknowledgeable, and rude. Equipment is also pieced together and raggedy. I should probably find another gym to go to, but this is right across from where I work and it is most convenient in terms of commute. Also, overpriced considering services rendered.
