I have been going to the summit several times a week over the last year. Pluses no kids on this side! Coffee station and tea station included. Thanks for having tea. Not everyone likes coffee! Facility is clean and well managed. Wish they had the red lighter therapy on the summit side too so I didn't have to go on the other side. That be a plus. But overall its a nice place to workout. Womens and men's both have sauna, hot tub and steam room. There are however a group of women that come everyday multiple times a day and flood the sauna. No idea how they stay in there that long. But they try to crop it open with their sandles! 😆 🤣 Which is a no go! So if you go try to avoid the times their massive group takes it over.

With Fall and winter weather soon approaching, getting more time in the gym is a must and thats exactly what we like about the flexibility of time slots available at the Summitt. My kids especially enjoy meeting up with friends and getting a great workout utilizing the basketball court.

I just joined summit about 2 weeks ago but i feel somewhat deceived. You cant get a massage or a facial at any location no matter they say about the perks of platinum plus. It closes early and staff is not always available and you still end up having to use the family side. I was expecting more updated equipment and tvs and for them toexplain how things work after you join to be able to get in the doors. The short latino guy on this side is so indifferent in helping you even though when he's standing there not doing anything. He always has an attitude for no reason and it makes me not want to come here. They didn't explain how difficult it would be to set up the hand thing To get in the secret door or to get your barcode card. Then when i was asking questions about it the guy acted like i was just this stupid person. He also talks to his coworkers like this or just ignores them when they need help. It's sad to watch. Maybe he is related to someone and thats why they let him act like this. I think they should let the more nicer people work this side and he can be on the other side of the facility that is more wils and open. The women yell and shout in different languages all while you're trying to relax in the sauna and steam room and hot tub. They also bring all of their body oils and face creams into these rooms and the eucalyptus oils and this stuff they use suffocates you in the steam room and sauna. Noone enforces this or keeps these women from doing this. It seems they don't say anything because some of the staff appear to be related to these women that are doing this. Even though its mostly older women here they dont clean up after themselves and there doesnt appear to be cleaning staff so hair and other things are always in the showers and they never have the body wash bottles filled up. It's alot of money to pay to feel like a college dorm or a ymca. I thought got was supposed to be elite. You have to get multiple apps just to use the cardio equipment if you want to watch or listen to anything. The wifi is so spotty it distracts from the workout because you have To keep moving your phone around. I like the snacks and drinks and the sauna and hot tub and large full towels. But it's an old place and theyneed to upgrade the equipment. You shouldn't have to lose weight first to fit on the weightmachines or need a manual. They should extend the hours and bring in actual facial and massage ppl who can work everyday and past 3pm and on weekends. That's a big part of why i joined but they sit there and let you sign knowing they dont have any staff. They have no appts available. Even the personal trainer is hard to reach. They don't have to lie. I like that is 21 up but the could add some tvs and enforce the rules about the oils and creams in the sauna and steam rooms and treating it like a community center.

I scheduled a massage several weeks in advance, arranged childcare, and then received a call the day of my appointment that the therapist had called out. No same-day alternatives were offered, and securing a babysitter was extremely difficult. Despite the inconvenience, the Summit did not offer any discounts for a future appointment. Very disappointing experience. The Summit is NOT member-friendly or family-friendly. Would not recommend

I'm hooked! The money is worth the investment in my health and well being. The facial service and the massage are better than some fancy spas I've been to.

A Club That No Longer Prioritizes Adults.
The combination of reduced lap swim hours, dismissive staff, the limited open hours, and the poor punctuality paints a clear picture: the Summit Club is no longer the adult-focused health club it once was. The addition of the splash park and the emphasis on kid-friendly activities have come at the expense of the adult members who helped build the club’s reputation. While I understand the need to cater to families, the club’s failure to balance these offerings with the needs of its adult members is a significant misstep.

As of today they have done some repairs and stepped up with the basics. Effort is being made. This also is some of the best for what we have here in Alaska. It is just not what I have experienced in other places in the world. Luxury is on a scale and for Alaska standards this is definitely a seven or eight.
My first review was …
I have been filing complaints for way too long with no changes so maybe this will grab someone’s attention. The showers are dirty. The spa area smell smells like actual poop. The floors need to be vacuumed. It’s common to not have clean towels in the spa area as well as left cups and other trash everywhere. We pay too much for this to be in this condition. Additionally, there’s many broken elements to the showers. The shower floors are just disgusting. If you clean this up, I will remove this review. If you still see this review that means not much is changed.

I belong to many country clubs throughout the US and this is the epitome of the country club feel. I'm greeted with a warm greeting every time, Eric at the front desk is fabulous. Their janitorial team is always in the locker room tidying up refreshing the amenities. The facility is always clean, bright and inviting. The equipment selection is updated and has a little bit of everything, and if there's a specialty machine you were looking for the South Club is 45 seconds down the hallway, and did I mention it comes with a world class aquatic facility that the kids absolutely love!

I enjoy being at Alaska club. It’s relatively clean and good employees. My main concern is closing hours. I get off work at 10-11 at night and would love to come sauna to end the day. I’ve heard other members express this too. Years ago I remember being able to steam room/sauna late at night but not anymore unfortunately. Covid ruined the late night hours ant ank club and I think it’s time to come back to pre Covid hours. Also, having a cold plunge would benefit everyone for muscle recovery and not a lot of gyms in anchorage has one so Ak club can separate from competition. In college my soccer team trainers expressed how important cold and hot therapy is for recovery to hit your full potential. I’ve seen the new upgrades in the pool area so I know the club is investing which is nice to see. A cold plunge would be an amazing addition. Thanks and I hope you take this into consideration.

For the most part the club is great, couple things, one being the trainers when they have a client they will tie up equipment that they really aren’t using. The second is when the club runs specials to get more members, they must not tell them about the difference between the day lockers and lockers you can rent, it’s annoying. Your current staff is very thoughtful and friendly.

I've been getting calls and voicemails from them for 2 years now after cancelling due to moving to another state (I'm no longer in Alaska and haven't been for 2+ years). I've politely asked them on 4 different occasions to please stop calling and to delete my account/contact info, but they still keep calling and leave a voicemail every time. I've spoken to different managers from different departments (accounting, marketing, and a general manager) and they've lied to me every single time about making sure I don't get anymore calls/voicemails from them. I've told them multiple times that I am no longer living in Alaska. I've told them multiple times that I do not want to receive phone calls, emails, or voicemails from them, but I STILL am. Summit facility has also gone downhill when I was last there. Yellow and brown stains on towels. Towels never available (imagine taking a hot or cold shower and no towels available and all the used towel buckets are overflowing, and some of the towels have disgusting stains). Jacuzzi / Whirlpool / hot tub always down for maintenance or cleaning. A group of treadmills not properly grounded and you get shocked through your earbuds. They stopped doing nice shampoo and body wash so have to bring your own. And they close at 8pm. If you cancel for any reason (such as moving out of Alaska), they will continue to call you and leave voicemails about their "special offers if you come back" and there is no way to stop them from calling you other than changing phone numbers (I've been getting calls and voicemails from them for 2 years now even after asking them to stop...). So beware or be ready to change your phone number after cancelling because you're signing up for a lifetime of phone calls and voicemails from them.

I absolutely love the Summit for my husband and myself! We have been members since 2009! It’s classy, state of the art Workout machines with TVs and outlets for your phone if you want to watch something there! The best part is after your workout you can shower and then soak your sore muscles in the hot tub!
My annoyances are we used to have hours till 10 pm M-F and 8 pm on the weekends! Now they close at 8pm M-F and 6 pm on the weekends. My greatest annoyance is we pay the same price as we did with full hours but we have less hours plus fees went up last year! My only other annoyance is we are retired military and there are many of us but they don’t give the military discount! We can get it in the Mall and fast food or restaurants but not at our health club we go to everyday Monday- Sunday. Ending on a positive, it’s the best place when choosing a fitness club in cleanliness and everything you need. For those who drink and over 21 you can buy alcohol!

The Alaska Club South and The Alaska Club Summit are the only Clubs I am thoroughly acquainted with. They make it their job description to be user friendly, safe and helpful to assist you invest in a more healthy lifestyle!
They’re MY KIND of People & they’re my stomping grounds! I enjoy three lovely grandchildren and we so appreciate the 2 different pools available and hot tub!
My grandchildren enjoy their fun Swim Lessons with WONDERFUL Coach Glenn each Wednesday, a highlight for their week!
Truly the “CleanTeam” works super hard to maintain well groomed locker rooms. On the South Side their age-appropriate locker rooms give you the choice to be around young children or 14 and over in a quieter locker room setting. A lovely relaxing massage chair was recently installed on the South Side and it’s free for adults to use. Many different exercises and sports opportunities await those who would like to use their variety of gyms and participant in free lessons!
We deeply appreciate the commitment and hard work of every one of the employees of the Alaska Club. My grands love 3rd Wednesday of the month for “Family Fun Night”.The club provides free pizza a healthy beverage and a bouncy house with a fun craft and maybe some games in the large gymnasium. All members are invited & guests too! YES IT’S FOR FREE! Such a marvelous opportunity for family togetherness. They try to make the time happy for kids of all ages accompanied by parents or guardian.
On the Summit Side an extraordinaire experience in fitness & luxury invites you to join! Yes, a little pricier, however, you pay for what you get! At the Summit you enjoy an amazing beautiful spa facilities with relaxation sauna, hot Jacuzzi, and a peaceful steam room! Their clean fancy
lovely change rooms and lounge area invite peace and rest!
I find the variety of exercise machines always kept in good working order and cleaned throughout the day. On both sides of the Alaska Club they try diligently to learn your name and make you feel welcomed like family!
Overall the Alaska Clubs are a wonderful user friendly family place to gather! They offer many classes of various natures to help you stay fit, keep in shape or learn specific skills. Alaska Club grew up with Alaskans’ owned and operated for now 30 years! No, I do not work for them, however, I know what a great asset for my disabilities. With 2 total shoulder replacements and Bilateral knee replacements the Alaska Club will be an ongoing lifestyle choice to help in maintaining good health! I expect to continue to enjoy the excellence of their facilities for years to come.
Finally may I acknowledge the great management skills of Seth who enable the smooth running of the Alaska Club. They desire to know your opinion on how to make your experience more positive. They welcome members’ feedback. I cannot complement the management enough for their excellent knowledge in helping people make wise and healthy lifestyle choices! What a great team of employees from the ace handyman to the top management. You betcha they go out of their way to make you feel welcomed and part of the Club!
However, success depends upon YOU to be diligent to use it! I encourage YOU to make the investment in your health a priority.

The club itself is great. Management and owners truly suck. Been a member for neigh on 10 years. Closing Summit @ 8pm is BS. Those who use it are mostly professionals who work later. Getting there at 7pm and having an hour to work out, sauna and shower doesn’t work. Pull your HOOYA’s management. Covid is done, time to go back to work.

I have talked to the GM ( Seth ) about 4-5 times over the phone in the last 6 months asking him about the hours- I work 6 days a week until 8pm and they started closing at 8. GM told me that they are working on changing the hours in SEP- Writing this in DEC with no follow up calls when he promised me a phone call. I kept my membership for almost 2 years now with these hours thinking it will change- But now I think Summit just got too comfortable with their hours. Too lazy to pay for extra 2 hours to stay open when charging me almost $150.00 a month.
Update- Thank you for the response. I pay for the services at the Summit not next door( AK South) NO SAUNA / NO HOTTUB. There are other gyms for $30.00 a month for that. I am paying for services I can't use there when I signed up for this 4-5 years ago. Also not getting a follow up phone call when I was promised. From my end I kept my membership for almost 2 years now without using it and nothing has changed.

I joined the Alaska club south Jan 1 2019 and decided I would join the Summit because I’m 60 years old and I didn’t want the distraction of the children ( I tried the other side and I wanted peace and quiet I have grandchildren, I have my boss children I watch randomly and my neighbors children that I watch randomly and I just wanted to be able to go somewhere where It was only adults ) It is quieter and I tend to be able to do more there anyway I joined January 1 of this year and the middle of the month I became injured (absolutely nothing to do with the club ) I continue to pay my dues. I ended up having to have a disc replacement in my neck it took five months for the doctors to figure this out and when I spoke to the club they had told me I should’ve let them know because they would’ve help me out with that because I signed up and could not physically use the club. Wyatt Who signed me up and I gave my sisters name as someone who would randomly come up and visit me he actually called her in Oregon before she arrived gave her a two week free pass when she came up for my sons wedding last month. I have never had a bad experience there and as soon as on my neck Incision heals and my neurosurgeon gives me the OK I’m going to be able go back and do a little work out and yoga walking in the water and getting massages I absolutely love this place it’s great my sister came up from Oregon she has never seen a place that has been so great with offering everything also my boss and his wife and children come up for three or four times a year maybe three weeks at a time so I talk to the manager and they will get on a plan that will suite there lifestyle. he actually gave me 7 free passes for them to try it out. I have heard bad reviews and read The reviews about this club but it has been absolutely wonderful for me I appreciate them I can’t wait to get back into going to them they have no problem with me bringing my two young grandson to swim at public swim once in while they never question it it’s a very very comfortable setting and I’m really glad I decided to sign up with Alaska club. I’ll be going back in a couple more weeks I’m pretty confident my doctor will give me the OK. Thank you so much JoAnn Vermilyea

This business discriminates against disabled people. I took time off of work to go to my scheduled massage and was rejected upon arrival because I had too many medical issues (that absolutely in no way were effected by a massage nor are they contagious). I sat there for almost an hour trying to contact my medical providers per their request for clearance, then was told even with doctor permission I was not able to get a message because the masseuse (Holly) was just out right rejecting me due to my medical status (that again, has nothing to do with getting a massage that my doctor recommended I get). No questions were asked about medical history before the appointment, nor was there any indication of medical concerns while scheduling the appointment. It was not until I arrived for my appointment that I was told I was wasting my time being there. Since then, I have been passed through managers and other staff authority without any appropriate resolution to this issue. It's been over a month now. Seems I will have no choice but to contact my attorney and go that route to ensure this does not happen to other people.

I have been a member for almost 2 years and all that time payed for a personal trainer. Finally met my goals and tried to cancel. They stated that they were sad to see me go and said they canceled. Next billing sure enough there was another month added plus late fees. Called back in again, again they said they would take care of it. Next billing sure enough its there again and another month tagged on plus fees. I appealed to them to remove it. They stated that they will have to take it to upper management who then stated they will not remove it and I must write them a letter to cancel the account and then I was obligated for even another month of bills. I did this but they seemed to tag on even more charges. All said and done it took me three months to close this and $800 to close this.
Stay away from the Alaska Club. Very dishonorable, very criminal if you ask me and total horse you know what.
WARNING, THEY WILL NOT CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT UNLESS YOU WRITE IN AND BE EXACT TO THE CONDITIONS OF THE CONTRACT FOR CLOSURE. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE PLACE
