This review is solely about customer service. I spent two days trying to call and also sent an email to request a hold on my membership for October. Today, I finally got in touch with someone, only to be told that my request couldn’t be accommodated because it was “last minute.”

Nick then informed me that if I provided a doctor’s note, they might be able to place the hold. About five years ago, I had to put a hold on my membership at a different Anytime Fitness for medical reasons, and the process was simple—no doctor’s note required, no hassle.

I expressed my frustration and told Nick to forget it, just go ahead and charge my account, but that it was unreasonable to expect members to pay a doctor just to get a note for something like this. Instead of handling the situation professionally, Nick raised his voice at me and hung up.

That is completely unacceptable customer service. I’ve been a loyal Anytime Fitness member for many years, and to be treated this way is absurd. Nick needs training in both customer service and anger management. Treating long-term members with such disrespect should never be tolerated.

Well what can I say. I purchased this membership in 2022. I had lofty ideas about going to the gym. It was sporadic at best. In May, I tried to cancel the membership and sent an email online. After no response, I went in person 3 times. No management was available. I kept calling and leaving messages. Again crickets. In June i sent an email with my complaint and on that same day, I managed to get the manager on the phone. He gave plenty of excuses as to why he was never available. In any case, I informed him that I want to cancel my membership. Provided my information and he said it is done and i would receive an email confirmation. To my surprise today, I am going through my bank statement and saw charges as on 9/4/25 for this membership that should have been canceled. I called the gym no answer and left a message. I called many, many times to the point I got in my car and went in person. The manager stated that he has been there for one month and he has no idea what I am talking about. Granted if he was not there, I can't blame him for the incompetence of the other person. However, I was advised that I would not get my money back back. And of course, I am simply heated. I've sent all the correspondences I could find as proof that I did do my due diligence. I even have a response to my negative feedback I submitted with a survey that I completed regarding my negative experience. The current manager is upset, however, as a consumer I have the right to uphold to fair standards and practice any business that is taking my money. Whether it cost $5.00 or $5,000, I expect business to be ethical. I've also filed a complaint with the BBB of Arizona. I tell you one thing for sure, this has for sure soured me on ever joining a gym again. Proceed with caution.

We enjoy visiting different AF locations while traveling to compare and almost didn’t come to this one bc of some of the reviews I read. Thankfully, we ignored them since this Af is quite nice! It’s very clean, bathrooms are nice, staff was friendly on arrival, and it’s a bit larger than we expected; bigger than many we’ve been too with more equipment than average. We’ll surely be happy to visit here again when in this area!

Your thermostats read 80°, you have some obvious AC issues here. There’s no reason a commercial space with 5 ACs can’t get below 80° at 9:30 PM, quit being cheap skates and get it fixed.

I was a secondary on my husband plan which he canceled over 3 month ago. I already called and confirmed with the GM Chris that both were canceled 3 months ago yet we are still getting charged twice a month for a gym we DO NOT GO TOO!

Absolutely awful gym. They are way overpriced for what they provide, staff is never there and severely unprofessional and off putting, and the contract they lock you in on is damning and impossible to get out of. The gym amenities are skimp, minimal weights, machines, and space. It’s an awful gym and not worth a single penny or second of your time

Terrible gym. It’s tiny, no one it EVER there, they impossible to get ahold of, and when you sign up, you sign up for “the year” and they do not allow you to cancel without a literal doctors note proving you have a “permanent” injury. This place is a sick joke and WAY over priced. If I’m paying $55 a month for a tiny self ran gym then I expect the establishment to care about my business just a little bit. Would never recommend anyone go here.

Whatever you do, make sure they give you a copy of your contract, and that they review fees with you. This guy signed me up for a 2 year contract and didn’t tell me they would charge me a “club enhancement fee” every 6 months. I started going to the other San Tan gym because it’s closer to my house, and also the guy who was working at this one on weekday afternoons made me uncomfortable. He would talk to me while I was using equipment, even though I told him that I was looking for a quieter gym experience with less people. He also would take very loud personal phone calls while using the stair stepper. Anyway my new home gym couldn’t tell me what the extra fee was for, so I asked to cancel and they’re saying I owe $1009.00 to cancel because of what this gym signed me up for. All because this guy didn’t explain any of that or give me a copy of my contract.

Although there seems to be a high employee turnover at the San Tan Valley location, ALL of the employees I have interacted with have been great and informative. I attribute the high employee turnover to corporate atmosphere. Tyler is the current trainer, and he is a great guy that has a genuine interest in you making the most out of the equipment within your boundaries.

The staff there is great, nothing more to be said really as they say.... It's on you to turn the positive experience that anytime fitness and their staff in Queen Creek offers into a better health experience for you and your family. That said, no management is in place and the towel dispensers have gone empty for days on end. The trash cans are consistently over flowing. No one pays attention to the facility... its a shame - it used to be all together.. Poor management communication. I'm going to Planet Fitness on Ocotillo and Signal Butte as soon s it opens soon to get back into a Zen workout state :)

Genuinely curious as to how this gym, makes any money. Called twice to register. Showed up twice in the hot AZ weather at the given time. 10:45am on weekdays. Knocked, & called for 15 minutes. No answer. Left both times. Unable yo register. It’s the closest gym to me. But have to settle for a better gym, farther away from my home.

Great little gym! Everything is well maintained and very clean. The best part is that it is never crowded since members can work out anytime, day or night. If you are looking for a big social scene, this is not the gym for you. If you like a low-key gym that feels more like a private club, this is the place for you. Yes, it is more expensive and yes, they have contracts, but you get what you pay for. The GM is friendly and helpful if anything is needed. There is a great trainer if you would like personalized workouts, but there is no pressure. There are two Anytime Fitness in San Tan, make sure it's the one on Gantzel. It's run extremely well and I highly recommend!

Before I moved out here I went to anytime fitness to speak to the manager or the owner about signing up with him asking him if I could bring my son with autism just to hang out not work out with me he had a negative attitude and told me no you'll have to pay an extra $50 so what I did was I went over to LA fitness and I got us both in there for $50 a month bad attitude very disappointing

Enjoy going to this gym because I can get a solid workout in and it’s never overcrowded or busy. The equipment could use a little bit of an upgrade but everything you need for a good upper body, leg day and cardio day is all there. This gym is very clean, very chill. Never seen it crowded, even at 5 pm. They keep it well shaded from the sun. All cardio machine TV’s work. Wide variety of dumbbells, bands and machines. Trainers don’t come and bug you like at LAFitness. Love this gym!💙

Love the place, never really packed like planet fitness or LA fitness.. i like it when it's almost empty because it makes it feel like your own personal gym all to yourself and you can literally go anytime, even in the middle of the night and no one will be there. Really unfortunate experience with Anytime Fitness. BE WARNED. Getting out of a contract with them is an absolute nightmare.

I experienced a medical emergency and was injured during a training session at Anytime. I was unable to do HIT or over exert myself and asked to cancel my training and was told I needed a doctors excuse via a VOD form. I sent in a signed VOD form from my primary care physician who is an NP showing my disability due to the accident that happened DURING AN ANYTIME TRAINING SESSION and was told this was not enough, I would need a different doctor with a different license number to prove I am disabled before they would cancel my agreement. I think that is pretty unreasonable for any company to ask for, my doctor has cared for me for years, and forcing me to search for a new doctor just to ask them to sign a disability form feels illegal and exploitive.

Due to the injury I received during that training session I was unable to continue work and lost my job and fell under financial hardship. I contacted management about paying off a balance I owed for training due to poor communication between new management and members, and I asked to extend the hold they offer on training, and we agreed on a payment plan. That same day they DRAINED my bank account and left me in overdraft for 4 days. I was charged an extra 75 dollars through my bank due to this error that I still haven't gotten refunded. When I contacted the manager I spoke to about this, she asked me if we could just keep it that way since "we already pulled the money and it cleared on our end". I had to literally BEG them to reverse the money pulled and stick to the original payment plan we agreed upon. I was left feeling absolutely humiliated by the interaction and can not believe the insensitivity I was shown throughout the entire process after I was injured.

Per their contract, you need to provide a new address that is at least 35 miles from any other Anytime Fitness, and after providing that new address and a copy of the new utility bill for proof I was told I would be charged a month's worth of gym membership fees, PLUS a $50 cancellation fee. I also had to show the same proof to the training side as well and go through a separate cancellation policy through them, which includes paying a full month's worth of training I CANT PHYSICALLY DO.

I get having specific cancel requirements to make your money and keep people from canceling, but my experience felt like pure extortion.

If I could rate this a negative 100 I would. DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM!!! Parker is a good SALESMAN AND ACTS AS if he looks out for your best interest and tells you all of these things, “if something comes up, you can cancel if you move or provide a doctors note” I was involved in an auto accident and am no longer able to workout due to my injuries, in addition, I have missed work due to the accident and my income is not consistent. I communicated this with Parker throughout the entire process, he continued to let me know “just bring in a doctors note, stating this and this and have it signed by a MD and I will cancel you right away” Well low and behold my doctor wrote a note and signed, and I get told, “okay you will have $50 cancellation fee, it’s in your contract. I’m sorry I’m just running a business. If I could help you I would, but it’s upper management” And to top it off, I receive an email stating “Sorry to inform you upper management has declined your doctor’s note as a good reason to cancel”

I am flabbergasted at this experience! The personal trainers are AMAZING! I would recommend them to anyone looking to strengthen and lose weight. But, the other side with Parker TOTAL DISGRACE!

If it is indeed upper management, all I can do is shake my head! If you’re that hard up for ONE gym member that you are putting them through all of this to cancel, you must be struggling within YOURSELVES!

I’ve been trying to cancel my services since February 2020 it is now September 2020. Was told it was taken care of multiple times by the staff yet every month still being billed for services not used. They billed through covid when the gyms were closed. Just completely unprofessional and unacceptable. I highly advise you use the services with LA fitnesses right next door. I now have to fight with them and the bank to get funds overturned wasting more of my time because of FRAUDULENT services from anytime fitness staff and company.

When you sign up they set up payments and are immediately charged. When you want to stop you have to go in and fill out a "request form" on paper and it takes 30 days before they stop charging you after you cancel. Scam set up to get an extra month payment after you cancel

Cautionary tale. I originally signed up for membership with the gym 2 years ago and then I was offered a job as a firefighter shortly after and had to move out of state. Upon this notification I cancelled my membership due to this. I know that it is my fault I should have been more up on where my finances were going to and what I thought was my insurance bill was actually them still charging me. I called to correct the mix up with proof of my transfer but did not have a copy of my cancellation form couldn't find it after the whole move . When I originally cancelled the lady was rather rude about it but I was not expecting my cancellation form to be "misplaced" for lack of better term. Jeff who I talked to was helpfull but the region manager told him there was nothing they can do because there is no form. I am rather disturbed that a mishap on there end is so easily transferred to the client to pay for their mistake. If you decide to cancel make sure you keep the form and watch your account because you can't trust it to be done by the company. They stated they cancelled my membership now but will be waiting to see if it actually happens or if I will get charged again. There are other gyms that I hear don't have this problem if your worried about it. But if out of convenience you choose this one, be on top of paperwork and trust no one. I can't believe that when I signed up I didn't read the reviews about how they treat their clients. It scares me that with the timeline and attitude received by staff when cancelleling the membership brings the question of if there mistake was vindictive pops into mind. To end review on a lighter note, if you wish to join the closest thing to global gym this is the place to go lol.

Its a gym, you have dirty people and clean people. The price is a alot for so little! The staff is friendly, but im paying double my old membership(that was month to month not a 12 month contract!!) for a gym that is a quater of the size! No pool, no sauna, or steam room. No basket ball court. No "benches" (incline, flat, or decline) just benches you can move into the squat rack and smith machine. Dumbells only go up to 100, and only one set of each. Not many classes offered. They really need to expand the size of the gym to get more equipment. More people to provide more classes. Make the $39 monthly charge worth it!!!! Offer more benifits and perks of choosing your gym over others besides just the convenience of location, eventually a bigger, better, cheaper gym will move in close to this location and probably run you out. But at the end of the day i sweat, i pick things up and set them down. Its a gym, but could use some major improvements.

It is an OK Gym. I joined because I like to be able to go there and workout at anytime. I usually use the machines, the treadmill and the stationary bikes. I see how many are giving it 1 or 2 stars because you do not get to socialize as much, which is OK with me. I could care less if the staff is there or not when I go. The only complaint I have is that the wet wipe dispensers sometimes stop dispensing the darn wipes and you have to walk all the way to the other side of the gym to get some, but otherwise I am currently enjoying it.

First off I joined this gym because it was close to home, but due to a contract I am stuck paying this overly expensive gym every month for something I've asked many times to get rid of. I have been in there maybe 10 times and everytime I haven't been able to talk to someone In person. Also, when I signed up for my contract I was asked if I wanted it to auto renew and I simply said no. But again I can't get ahold of any employee there to help me change the automatic renewal. After working with this business is absolutely hated everything from the setup to the customer service. At the end of the day I feel like I just donated money to them and had absolutely no personal gain. I will never recommend this gym or go back to it. Worst and most expensive gym I've ever been in!

Been a member of this club for a month and a half now and both my wife and I enjoy going to the gym. The staff is very informative and eager to help. Jennifer, the personal trainer, is very helpful and eager to teach. Gym is always clean and plenty of equipment to use and not get bored.

The staff is never there during posted hours. I have been trying to cancel my account for six months and have still not been successful. They even change billing companies so that you can not process a stop payment. For how small and unfriendly the staff is it is defiantly not worth the money or the headache.
