My daughter and I went for the first time and we ABSOLUTELY loved it!!! We already bought passes to come back! The staff was friendly and helpful. It was exactly what we were hoping for- a little crash course and then turned to our own devices to play around on the climbing walls. We can't wait to come back!!!

One suggestion though- I recommend keeping the water fountains cleaner, they were pretty ill-maintained. I get it's a rock climbing gym and there's powder all over the place, which is fine! But just a quick wipe is all! I swear by using water and vinegar (works great for water stains!!)

Karl gave my boyfriend and I training at the start of our session. As a new climber who had never done any work with GiGis and belaying, he was super clear, made sure I felt comfortable and confident in my what I was doing. He made sure we were fully competent and confident with both the climbing and the belaying before letting us do it independently, ensuring both safety and fun. The facilities were perfect, my boyfriend is a very advanced climber and he had tons of options while I did easier walls, which there were also plenty of. Staff was very kind and atmosphere was great. Would highly recommend.

Today I visited the place and had a fantastic experience. The facility was large and clean, with plenty of routes for all skill levels. They teach beginners everything and answer all your questions. the price was very reasonable, making it accessible for frequent visits. Came here for the first time with my son, cannot say enough good! Going to a climbing gym was out of my comfort zone but the staff totally made us feel welcome. Staff not at all helpful with the paperwork.
Having an issue signing in and both gentleman couldn't care less. They could see my frustration (to the point I cursed under my breath)but they didn't look like they wanted to be bothered. Rather than deescalate the situation they escalated it to the point that I left. Too busy doing other things to be helpful. First and last time I will be here.

My kid has been coming here twice a week for a couple years now…that’s should say enough, but I’ll go on. He loves it and gets to workout, climb, learn critical thinking, etc. with a group of other kids/young adults….which makes me happy just as much as him. The staff is always super cool and friendly, not to mention very knowledgeable on all things climbing. It’s a very practical gym with no frills but week taken care of. Classic old school climbing gym. Climbing was more similar to outdoor climbing than other gyms I've visited. The fiberglass wall created positions only really used outside and rarely in the gym. Had a great time!

This is where I first started climbing, and I find myself wishing this place was closer to me so I could make this gym my main gym. Workers were always friendly, encouraging, and uplifting. There are plenty of routes and there are many different styles. My only complaint is you do have to be hyperaware of children running around whose parents aren't playing attention. Another bonus is this place is very affordable compared to others in the valley.

I LOVE this place!! I bought a Groupon for my grown kids & I, & we all had a blast!! The staff is really nice & helpful. There are climbing & bouldering options for almost any age and skill level. Since none of us has been rock climbing before we weren't sure what to expect, but we ended up being there for 3 hours without noticing how long it had been. The only reason we left was because we were all hungry & sore from a great workout. It's hard to impress an18 year old & even he had the best time & looked into getting a membership. They actually have tons of options, including family memberships. We are going back next week & will surely make Ape Index a regular part of family time. If you are looking for a way to get the family active ( or just yourself) and interacting with each other, this is a fantastic way to do it! It would make a great gift or birthday party too!

Really love climbing here! I like that the Auto belays are numerous and have a lot of variety in the routes. The varied wall shapes are fun and challenging. I do wish that the belay certification was done with a bit more safety in mind as they tested/trained us without a backup of an auto belay. The color coded system is a little weird because you’re having to memorize the right colors instead of just knowing the route grade right off the bat. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the routes are fun!

I’m sure this gym would be great if it was close to home or you’re just getting into climbing, but I wouldn’t recommend. The belay course was taught by someone who seemed like they’ve been climbing for a month and he was extremely lenient. He was not familiar with a screw-lock carabiner, only taught the follow through portion of a figure-8, he didn’t backup the belayer (my new to climbing friend) and he was going to have me climb before the belayer had even practiced pbus had I not suggested it. Nothing against that teacher, but there should be more training for someone teaching a belay course. I thought the setting was meh and every route starts with a boulder problem due to their lack of space. walls weren’t very high, old rental equipment/auto belays, no lead climbing, weird top rope hooks for the overhanging routes. Not trying to be a Karen, but the sport deserves better.

We just started this week wirh the youth club for a new climber. The owner does not try to upsale you or make you buy all the gear for your child. Got a trial pass for Christmas. Staff were super friendly & welcoming. I do mainly bouldering & they let you boulder anywhere using crash pads, so adds a lot of options. Grades are a little harder than black rock. More outdoor style vs comp style & great vibes all around. The service was good. We took a class first. The guy was nice and very detailed oriented. He made sure we were fully educated on the importance of safety. In addition, he made sure we were confident. Not willing to help out a Veteran who will be shipping out soon. I was told 100$ for 10 days or $65 for a whole month...but then it's pro rated so still have to pay for March. Small time business won't help out someone who could possibly bring in more business for them in the future for showing kindness. We brought our kids here yesterday and it was an amazing time. None of us have ever done this before, but the staff made it easy to learn. The staff gave great instructions and within minutes we were climbing with no problems. Great place for all ages. My 13 yr old and 10 did really well on some of the easier climbs. So did my fiancé. I even surprised myself and climbed to the top of a 5/9 level which is not very easy. We are both in our 40’s BTW. I recommend this for any family, couple or individual. It really gives you a knowledge of your capabilities and strengths. Great workout too.

I first went to the rock climbing gym about 3months ago. Now I am apart of the amazing climbing team. Coach Andrew and Zach are awesome. One of the owner Kyle is awesome and he pushes all of us so hard so that we can complete in competition and become stronger climbers. I remember the first time I walked into this place years ago and was surprised how dark it was and even asked if there were even open. We climbed there for a couple years and after months of no new routes we cancelled our membership.

A year and a half later I am back as a proud new owner of my very own New and Improved Ape Index Membership. I couldn't be happier.

I have been fortunate to climb at many different gyms around the US when I travel for work and the new Ape Index is by far my favorite.

While the owners are a bit sarcastic and remind me of the "Odd Couple" this new updated gym hit the spot. Super Bright and Inviting soon as you walk in the door. The color scheme is incredible and invokes emotions in me that I cannot express. The new routes are so fun and very challenging with enough difficulty for anyone learning or experienced.

All in all you couldn't ask for a better gym, great owners, super friendly staff, and an inviting atmosphere to push your climbing limits.

Less than one star! They told us that my little sister could climb and then after our long drive they then told us we need a parental waiver so that would have been nice to know on the phone. They also tried to get me to say my sister was over 18 because they lied on the phone. Very shady! Also had to wait because staff was out climbing when we arrived. The poor communication makes this the worst business experience I have ever had. This is the first time I have ever reviewed a business negatively. New to climbing in the last five months, we just can't stay away. My 11 year old son will even put down his screens to climb, in fact it is the only sure fire way to get him out of the house. He loves to show off how he can climb higher routes than his mom! The staff is so nice and helpful. There are so many routes that keep changing so I can keep working on the problems. The people at Ape Index have created a rock climbing family that I am thrilled to be a part of! Thanks Ape Index!

The instructor did a great job showing us the safety procedures and practicing with us until we felt secure. There is a wide variety of climbing activities such as bouldering and belay wall. It was a lot of fun!

OVERPRICED! I came as a buddy under my boyfriend's membership and my 3 year old daughter was full price. $50 for us to climb?! What's the point of the membership then? This place ROBBED us.
