I had a great time dropping in. The coach did a lovely job at the whiteboard, solid coaching cues throughout, and checked in multiple times with me to make sure I was comfortable and knew where stuff was. Best part was how friendly the members were. I think every single person said hi at some point, a fist bump afterwards, or some other welcoming interaction. They have clearly built a wonderful community and represent what crossfit does so well. Would 100% recommend if you're in the area

Was in town at a conference a.wanted to find a place where I could keep up with my rowing machine workout for a couple of days. Did a week long pass. Easy sign up on line. Everybody at the gym was friendly. No hassles. No endless sales pitch. Went in, did my thing. Worked perfect. Didn't do any classes but watched several while I was there. People were working hard but seemed to be having a good time with it. Definitely worth giving it a shot if you are in town.

I’ve been dropping in here when I visit Phoenix and so far I’ve loved it every time! The week drop in pass is $50 - great price.
I love how attentive and friendly the instructors are and how welcoming the environment is to everyone.
The classes are easy to scale, and they don’t seem to push memberships or services down your throat like other gyms might.
I love the variety of classes they offer and the schedule is excellent for all types of schedules - including for people working East coast hours.
10/10 on cleanliness and equipment!

Dropped in for a Monday morning crossfit class and had a great experience. They program a group warmup to start the class so I didn't have to sort that out by myself. Everyone was friendly and Kim (coach) did a great job of walking us through the workout and coaching the movements. It's a good sized box, so there was plenty of space and equipment. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Phoenix.

An ideal box for beginners to advanced. Full-on CrossFit metcons are here every day plus several scaled options. The coaches are attentive to your movements and form, and they’re great at teaching everything from fundamentals like kipping up to tweaking advanced movements like the snatch. Loads of class times available from 5:30 AM all the way to the last class starting at 6:30 PM. Plus classes on Saturday and Sunday, which helps it stand out even more from other boxes.

This box is LEGIT!! Did a quick drop-in while visiting Phoenix and I could not be happier with the quality of the facility, friendliness of the members, and professionalism of the coaches. We did a chipper today with mostly body weight movements but Coach Cesar was amazing. By far the most thorough, intentional, effective preparation for the WOD I’ve had in years. Excellent demo for each movement including scaling options and desired stimulus. A WOD that some Coaches may β€œcall it in” but not Cesar. It was like working with a flow master from my L1 certification. Well done. I will be back!!

I dropped in on a Sunday and was greeted by a very clean and well put together box. Coach Nick met me and showed me around. He ran a very good warm-up and explained everything perfectly. I felt very at home away from home. I would recommend this gym and coach Nick to anyone that’s looking for an awesome CrossFit experience.

Before Crossfit In late 2019, I discovered some rotator cuff tears and shoulder impingement problems which resulted in sudden weakening of my dominant arm. Surgeon stated I was not a candidate for surgery and suggested within reason, I do whatever I want as far as exercise.
I joined back alley CrossFit and explained my situation to the instructors. They suggested many scaled options for the workouts that envolved the shoulder. After about 6 months the shoulder and arm strength were at least equal to the other arm.
Hats off to the instructors at Back Alley.

As a beginner who wants to become great at crossfit with a solid foundation and understanding on every movement and form, so not only to prevent injury but for the sake of doing things the right way, the coaches at BA crossfit have the know how and the patience to repeat themselves as many times as necessary in a constructive manner until i got things down right. this is my go to spot for sure

I've been to multiple CrossFit boxes in Phoenix and Tucson and Back Alley is by far my favorite (and in my opinion the best). They have a great assortment of well-maintained equipment, a very supportive and laid-back vibe, and excellent coaches. Melissa is THE best CrossFit coach I've worked with -- she designs workout-specific warm-ups and has a keen eye for catching your compensatory movements which really is key when it comes to refining your technique and ensuring you're staying safe under load. There's no pressure to lift more than you can manage, and scaling is absolutely okay. Highly recommend!

I came to Back Alley because it’s next door to my daughters gymnastics studio and has a class the same time as her class. I am pretty athletic, but haven’t done CrossFit. They were very welcoming and offered me a free class to see how I liked it. I had Melissa as my first teacher and she did a great job explaining form and giving me feedback on the best exercises for my new abilities in CrossFit. I’ll definately be back!!

My wife and I have been members now for about a month, never done CF before. I was hesitant about joining any kind of gym, but this place has been great. Coaches are chill, people are cool and encouraged to cheer each other on, no judging (which is good for newbies like me). The WODs are always different so it isn't boring, and if there's a part that is difficult, the coaches help you find a different way that fits your needs better. Works great for me and my nearly-unmanageable schedule, too.

Plus, there's a big fan. Like REALLY big. Like, remember your grandma's big metal fan she kept in the room that had no air conditioning where she would always want to hang out and have you join her while she watched Matlock and drank what you could only assume was some adult version of iced tea but you never asked because you knew she would say you were too young to try and even if you weren't she would have to stop talking about grandpa and his crazy shenanigans and you knew that wasn't going to happen so you just let the noise of Matlock and stories of grandpa's failed home improvements blend with the noise of THAT fan until she fell asleep? ....Yeah, this fan is like 3 times that big.

I started CF at Back Alley in December 2015, admittedly a little nervous. I was hooked very quickly! The coaches are awesome, and there are so many training times available I have no excuse not to make it. Most importantly, I love being around, and being pushed and being supported by so many strong, competitive and awesome women! I literally sound like an info commercial when someone will give enough time to brag on Back Alley CF!

I've been going here to a little over 3 months now. The coaches are motivating and very helpful! They care a lot about form and doing the workouts correctly! The workouts are challenging, which is exactly what I needed! And whether you are finishing in first or last place, the coaches and the members are rooting you on! After my 3 month membership was over, I renewed it for a year membership! Absolutely love this place and would recommend it to anyone!
