Played here this past Sunday. Challenging course for sure. Narrow fairways thick rough and fast greens. Only issue we had is we didn’t know we had to buy a token for the driving range even though we told the guy at check in it was our first time. So we pretty much started off cold. Overall fun course 😊

In such poor shape. Should be closed until ready for public to use again. Almost turned around after hole 2 for a refund. $90 to play in puddles and mud is crazy. Do not waste your money until they get it right again. Used to be our favorite. Cart girl mentioned in a review. Played here 20 times over the years and never seen a cart girl on this course. Their sister course Birdie Ranch is in 100x better shape for same price.

If you like golfing in perfect weather in the pine trees this is your course! The clubhouse is clean and the staff is welcoming. I would recommend trying their wings and burgers, top notch. The course isn't overly long, with more emphasis on shot making and placement. #18 is one of the most challenging and best par 5 closing holes I have ever played. If you are ever in Show Low, this is a must play!

Had a 10:45 teetime today. Called yesterday to inquire about rental clubs. Lee told us they had plenty of rental clubs. Arrived at 10AM and checked in. When we went to pick up the rental clubs, the set provided to my husband had a broken driver
and was told they don't have a replacement. The ladies a clubs proved we're a mix of men's and ladies clubs that included two 9 irons two 5 woods with dents in both faces, a 3 wood, a couple of men's wedges, and a 7 and 8 irons and a putter. The clubs were covered in mud and dirt. When asked if they could be cleaned, was told there is a club washer at the practice range but it only had about an inch of water in it. Went back to the pro shop and complained and they provided a set of premium clubs for my husband but hadn't other ladies clubs. Decided to try to play with the odd set of ladies clubs but chose to quit after 10 holes because the clubs were so old and that it wasn't fun.
Went back into the clubhouse to request a refund on my club rental of $35. And was told no refunds.
Will never return and buyer beware. The course is in terrible condition. Greens are painted, tee boxes mostly dirt and fairways very thin there isn't rough to speak of, only rocks and pebbles.
We are good golfers,hubby is an 11 and I am a 21.

Beautiful setting. Sometimes a bit soggy, but always a pleasure to play. The speed of the greens has been improved, allowing for play on the entire green. Excellent venue. Excellent customer service. I used to play Bison and Silver Creek at least once a week. Prices are a bit steep now.

This place is one of my favorite places to come golfing when I want to get away from the heat in Phoenix or really anytime for that matter. The course is challenging and fun with a number of holes which put my skills to the test. What’s also great is the staff who works there. Rose is awesome along with everyone else! Had a great experience at Bison Golf Club. I arrived at 6:09 a.m., thinking I'd have to wait to register, but I was met by a smile worn by a very cordial and helpful gentleman. My golf mate Chris was extremely friendly and helped navigate a beautiful golf course. I can't think of a negative, fast play, fast greens, challenging greens, and fairways. Loved all the tall trees, water, and ducks. Everything was clean, well kept, and organized. I plan to return and recommend this Bison Golf Club experience for you.

First time there. We aren't golfers. Just went there for lunch. I had the Ruben sandwich with onion rings. My wife had the roast beef sandwich and we split a order of chicken wings. Everything was fantastic. I try to eat the Ruben sandwich at any restaurant we go to, who serves them. I have my favorite, this one ran a close second. Very tender and the meat was seasoned perfectly. My wife loved her roast beef sandwich. The chicken wings had just enough burn on them. It was fun to watch the golfers. They are the funniest people. The waitress was great.

My brother came to visit and he recently started golfing. I am by no means a golfer, but I wanted to spend time with my little bro. So I drove the golf cart. We met an awesome couple along the way and teamed up. The golf course was beautiful with water features and some hard par 5. I have much more respect for this game after seeing it up close and personal. I had a great time and we received great service.

The location is beautiful and quiet, much like the dining area.
This is the second time we have been there, and I was hoping for better service.
When it came to ordering, they were out of half of what we would have liked to order. Then, it took about 45 minutes to get our food. Much like our first experience.
Doubtful we will recommend or be ever be back.

Super narrow course with odd layout (for which there is an interesting history/ reason). Would have been higher rating as most staff were amazing. However- there was an older gentleman working the front desk that was incredibly rude to both me and the group ahead of me at check in. Contradicted prior instruction we were given about having an extra rider for the day, and would not void miscommunicated purchase. Rental clubs were also atrocious/ about 30 years old.

My wife and I were visiting on a long weekend and played on a Monday morning. Beautiful course, well maintained and a very friendly staff. We had lunch at the restaurant and food was delicious. Highly recommend playing here. We had a wonderful round and even saw some deer on the 18th hole. Great time!

First let me say the clubhouse and Cary staff were great.

That being said. We had a tee time set, and when we showed up. We were told or tee time was 45 minutes later. No explanation. The practice facility it like something you would expect from a low end community course. The condition of the course was horrid. Now I know the course is going to blame this on monsoon rain but we played other courses in the area and no standing water. The drainage is junk, there was standing water all over the course and you footing and driving was like playing in a swamp. The layout is not great. You are diving; sometimes on cart paths, sometimes on what looks like goat trails. The signage of where the next hole is can be non exist and it seems like you need a compass and a map to navigate the course and find your way. There are no in course rest rooms, except the turn. There is no one in a cart selling drinks and snacks. The times I saw members of the grounds crew they were driving around acting like chimps.

I would not suggest this course, and will not play it again. Can’t give a zero

The wait staff was kind but a tad unprofessional. No one greeted us as we came in and the waitress sounding flustered warned us not to sit in her section outside. We chose to anyway and so any slow responses were our own fault at that point and she was gracious and casual, joking with us.
The atmosphere was great until the sun went down and the outside lights were apparently broken so we finished our meal in darkness.
The food was just fine, nothing horrible nothing amazing.
The wings were nothing special but they were large and juice enough.
My burger tasted good but was overdone (I ordered Medium and I don't like Rare meat so yes it was actually overdone)
My party got a Ruben which was flavored good but had no sauce and was therefore dry. And the other got the chicken sandwich which had a fun name I don't remember, but that he said was done just right even with his personal substitutions.

Expect a 5+ hour round if you decide to play this course. There is no ranger to keep slow players moving. No chance to jump ahead because the course is dominated by terrible players with zero course etiquette. Played this course many times over 30 years. Never again!

Just had dinner at the new Bison Grille. It was excellent all around. All 4 us said their food was terrific , and the service was magnificent also. The drinks from the bar were great, too. Played the 18 holes and it is a beautiful course. Really nice kept greens and the surrounding woods give it that mountain feel even though there are houses on the course. All of the staff I encountered were very friendly and helpful. They have a restroom and snack shop at the 9th hole. They have food and drinks available there of which I bought the brat which was perfect amount of food to finish the course. The paths are a little hard to find sometimes if it’s your first time but other than that I had a great time. Will definitely go back again and book through their actual website.

This course is not for the faint of heart. Tight, tree lined fairways and bent grass greens running at almost 12. I am a 5 handicap, my wife a 20 and we were both pleasantly surprised by the beauty and challenge. Can you lose a lot of balls on a course like this? Sure, that why and where driving accuracy comes into play. I agree with some other reviews in that they haven’t done enough yet to make it a destination course. Better signage is a must. Without a laser you are hooped. The cart paths are dirt and rutted from rain. Granted it’s a public course but it has the opportunity to be so much more.

Absolutely amazing conditions on the course. Fast greens, good carts. The paths are a little rough, and the course is challenging. If you're a noob, bring extra balls. Only concern is the inaccurate location. The actual course is about 2 miles past the address currently listed on Google 1 bison cove. You must drive past the circle k on the right and the course will be just after on your left with banners.
