I waited 3 months to write this review, as I often find the initial “wow” factor wears off over time. This hasn’t been the case with Block Fitness. The coaches are excellent and supportive of your fitness goals as well as your overall well-being. Ethan’s expertise in programming has reduced my pain, increased my strength, and improved my mental health. Lizzy and Shaylin are great at being supportive when I am having a tough day. Juliet goes out of her way to make sure my setup is correct and offers to spot me. James encourages me to try heavier weights and challenge myself. All the other gym-goers are polite and good at sharing spaces when needed. I never feel judged for my abilities, limitations, or lack of fancy workout attire. To put it simply, Block is full of genuinely good human beings, and when you are doing hard things, those are the people you want surrounding you.

I love this gym! The coaches put so much thought into the workouts. It is a group workout session, but doesn't feel like it! The coaches bounce around and corrects form to everyone in the sessions! It is an amazing full body workout and personalized just for me! Highly recommend to anyone!

Love this place! The facilities are always very clean and ready to be used. I was in the 2 x/week semi-private for the last three months, can’t say enough about the staff. Everyone was knowledgeable, patient and helpful plus they had great personalities! I am a senior , currently on a medical leave from Block Fit , but hopefully will be able to return soon as I miss the exercise program the people there! I highly recommend BlockFit to anyone who looks to improve their fitness!

I found my home!! I recently joined Block Fitness, participating in the semi-personal training program. It has been a game changer for me!! The coaches take the time to get to know you, they are invested in your workouts and truly care about your fitness. They pay attention to how you challenge yourself and make sure you have proper form (to avoid injury). I'm about six weeks in and am already seeing results. I highly recommend Block Fitness.

I did cancel my membership after a conflict with the owner. Very positive atmosphere with kind and knowledgable coaches. It was sad and unfortunate, but clearly my challenges were not a good fit. The staff are wonderful and I will miss going there.

I am so glad to have discovered Block Fitness Oro Valley. It's an entirely different way of working out to build strength. There are several coaches on the floor at any given time, keeping an eye on me and helping me as needed. I work from a plan through an app on my phone that they specifically design for my needs, and they adjust it as needed. They work with all ages of adults, but especially with seniors who have certain physical limitations. It's different than any gym I've belonged to, and the coaches are incredibly friendly and fun.

Great space, clean, supportive, and the coaches are friendly, knows you by name and checks in on you and your goals. I’ve joined many big gyms before, and this is my first time with a semi-private gym where the classes averages only 8 people, you don’t need to wait for equipment, it’s not loud or intimidating. I have had the best experience with this gym and with the support of their staff.
In other gym experiences, I get assessed at the gym as being able to handle more than my body and my injuries really can.
At Block Fitness, they challenge me at my level, take into account my injuries, create custom plans built to build me and setting me up for success!

Block is exactly what Joseph built it to be - a community built around fitness for all. I have been working with Block for just around 3 years now. I love the support of all the coaches, the workouts that are meant for me and my needs each month. My workouts push me as needed. My son that plays competitive sports also joined, two years later the results he sees are tremondous just not on his plays but also in helping keep flexible and injury free. Joseph is the ultimate personal trainer. He focuses on YOU, he creates exercises to strengthen your weak areas in a supportive and caring way. Best of all is the take home video exercises created just for you in their app so you can do workouts at home with alternate exercises using your own body or simple free weights. Joined a month ago and couldn’t be happier. I’m not in great shape so I was worried but the plan they set for me is challenging without being too difficult. For someone like me who is not comfortable in public environments, joining a gym seemed way out of my comfort zone. At 62years, I’m into trying new things and am so grateful for Block Fitness.
The facility is clean and fresh and the equipment is well maintained. The exercise program is easy to follow and the attention given to the client by the coaching staff is above and beyond.

Lost about 30 lbs recently.. needed to ‘firm’ up a bit..this is the place to do it. I had lost so much strength..I needed to be strong again! Been going for a month and the change is noticable.. the trainers are so helpful..if an exercise is difficult, they suggest different ways to do it and still get results! Always hated the gym…but i love this one! I actually look forward to having sore muscles…

This is my second month with Block Fitness. I was a bit intimidated at first with getting my exercise plans online and figuring out what to do! On the first day I was greeted and welcomed and assisted with every aspect of my concerns addressed. I work at my own pace, choose my own weights and the exercises that I found challenging were modified for me by the staff. Staff are knowledgeable, patient, kind and encouraging! I am 73 and decided to take a MetaFit class. Although I was clearly the oldest in the class and couldn’t remember what do do in spite of just watching a demonstration, the instructor Aubrey was kind enough to show me again! I actually made it through the entire class and have signed up for another one. Love this place!

After I had rhabdo last year and wrecked my legs, I was terrified to exercise again and I didn’t know how to navigate that on my own, so I started Semi-Private training here at Block Fitness. It’s a safe and supportive environment where you receive a custom plan tailored to your personal goals, but you’re still in the gym with other people, which makes it feel less intimidating than one-on-one personal training. You get a new plan every four weeks so it keeps things fresh and engaging.
The highlight of Block Fitness is the coaches. They are great at meeting you at your current fitness and skill level, while at the same time motivating you to overcome the mental obstacles holding you back. I attend on the same days and at the same time each week, so I almost always have the same coaches, which has been great because it has allowed me to build trust in their abilities. I see James the most and he is super knowledgeable, great about explaining which muscles each exercise works and how they are helping me work towards my goals. Shaylin is so friendly and helpful, and it’s very encouraging when Caroline walks by and says, “I like that weight.”
Overall, I’ve really been enjoying my time here and never thought I would be a gym kind of person, but here we are.

This type of workout facility fits me perfectly. Semi-private training sessions and group training sessions are perfect for anyone, your program is specifically set to you. Muscle mass is lost due to aging.... that was the article that sent me to a gym for the first time in my life. I can lift quite a bit more weight than when I started 6 months ago so I know there is improvement. The trainers have helped a lot, especially with explanations of how a particular exercise helps and how to do it correctly without hurting myself. And I have met some very nice people there doing the same thing that I am doing.

I have never been a gym member & always felt uncomfortable/intimidated to use one. I’m 63, so it’s been a lifetime problem. I found Block Fitness on facebook & it was close to my home, so I set up a meeting to see what they were about. I truly love them, it comfortable, there are trainers to help, it’s clean & smaller classes.
My only downfall is the pricing, I do understand they give lots of support but the price point is larger for retired people to n a more fixed income. I wish they offered some less expensive options.
But they are truly worth the money & a wonderful place

The Block Fitness team are awesome! I was a little nervous about starting at a gym — I had no idea what I was doing, I was healing from an injury, and I wasn’t in my best shape. The team here are so genuinely warm and helpful that I quickly got over that. They created workouts targeted to get me past my injury without exacerbating it, and they are really good at pushing in a way that makes me challenge myself. All the other folks working out are really nice, but focused on their own workouts, so it’s a great, upbeat vibe without any judgement/peer pressure. I never thought I would be a “gym person” but I absolutely love going now, and I’m the strongest I’ve ever been. Can’t recommend them highly enough!

I have been working out here over a year. The group classes are small and challenging. The coaches are all amazing people. I absolutely love working out with Juliette two mornings a week- she is funny and encouraging and supportive to everyone- and knowledgeable. Every coach at Block is non-judgmental and meets you at the fitness level you’re at. They push you to be better and do better, but also can adjust exercises on the fly or any injuries or challenges you may have. They are also all amazing at protecting our bodies from injuries. They know body mechanics and the workouts are designed to strengthen your spine and protect your joints and not cause damage to them. I love this as a healthcare provider. I finally found the place for me!!!! Two major reasons:
First and foremost I needed a place that put their emphasis on long term health, and prioritized a healthy mindset around working out. I want to do triathlons for the rest of my life, so strength and mobility are key for that longevity in the sport. I also want to love working out for the rest of my life, so I needed a place where I WANT to go. BLOCK FITNESS DELIVERED!! They are supporting my health for the long game, and I love the community feel!
The second big reason is schedule flexibility! I never pulled the trigger on personal training at other gyms because I just couldn’t consistently commit. The structure of the Block Fitness programming allows me to get a plan tailored for ME, work out under the watchful eye and encouragement of a coach, and do that on a time table that works for me. I can even take the workout on the road when I travel, thanks to the handy app with video instruction.

Block Fitness is the gym I needed! I love putting the work in, but didn't know the correct things to do to get my desired outcome. I show up, do the specific workout created for me, and I'm done! Block Fitness is a special place. I found Block through a friend when I was recovering from ankle surgery. I was ready to get back into working out but was nervous about finding what I could do safely and what I couldn't do yet. I’ve been here a month now and participate in the semi-private training sessions. While they are semi-private, I can always count on a coach to be around to help with my form and to answer any questions I might have. With every visit, I learn something new.
The group classes, called Meta-Fit, are an awesome challenge in a group setting (complete with modifications, as needed). The vibe and culture is one of encouragement. The workout is challenging, yet fun.
I’m seeing progress in my body already and am enjoying the culture of feeling like I’m with a group of like-minded friends who encourage and support one another along the way.
This place is awesome. Come as you are, whether you are already super fit or a rookie like me. You will be challenged and supported no matter where you are in your journey.

I just started with Block and cannot say enough good things about this program/gym. Great staff, great follow up and feedback, and very involved. It is great to see your coaches working out right along with the other clients and staying connected to the system they use. I started going to the gym because I had some specific goals (lose some weight, be able to do a pull up), but wasn’t particularly excited about going -I had tried and “failed” with at-home programs, big box gyms, circuit-style programs, and personal trainers. My experience with Joseph and the gym shifted all of this radically. My goals have changed (I now want to work out for the sake of working out-it’s its own reward—and because of my long term goal of being strong AF when I am an old lady), my relationship with my body has changed (I now focus on the weight I lift, rather than the weight of my body, and focus on performance rather than appearance—though both my weight and appearance have improved considerably!), and I have better mental health too-I am more optimistic, hopeful, and confident.
While I owe much of this to Joseph’s training, it is also the community he builds at the gym that keeps me going. When I’m traveling, I’ll still work out (he has helped me craft in-room workouts so I can stay balanced and sane on business trips), but being able to sweat, suffer, laugh, and celebrate with other people in a place where I am cared about and seen has made a world of difference.
Joseph also helped me stay the course when I went through a year of physical therapy. He worked with me to integrate my particular limitations and needs into my plan so that when I finally got back under the barbell, I saw rapid improvement and gains. Both the programming and the positive attitude helped me get through a very challenging year!
The TL;DR is: I went from someone who knew I needed to make a change in my lifestyle and wasn’t particularly thrilled with it to someone who loves the gym. I promise you, if you are on the fence, or if you have tried other places and didn’t like them, this one is worth a shot!

Where should I start? The trainers offer private, semi private and group classes. You get the 4th month free if you pay 149$/ month. Okay that's more than your gym but you get RESULTS FAST. You will be pushed in a group class for example because you have 2 other people doing the same exercises 6 total to motivate you. It's a mind set a bit addictive to wake up Saturday morning early to attend group at 7am. I no longer want to sleep in. Caroline, Juliette and Joseph will become like sisters and brothers - the owners/ managers and trainers. They are knowledgeable about your form and assist those with injuries to modify the exercises. It's fun, and the best part is it goes by so fast. If you want to start tightening up, losing inches and considering a healthy diet then I recommend trying a free metafit group class. You will feel so 👍good.

The most important thing I have obtained through this process is an unwavering belief in myself and my abilities. I came in big, slow, and pretty anxious about everything gym related. My balance could have been better. I couldn't lift very much. I had the fear in the back of my head that I couldn't do it. Now, after time and a lot of work, this has changed. Still big (but less big). Still slow (but less slow). Now, I can do it. Not every lift will be perfect, but the fact is that I can lift. I can run. I can do it. I feel so blessed that a friend recommended Block Fitness to me. I am a strong 49 year old woman, but I also have low back issues from an old injury that have prevented me from working out for years. In previous gyms that I tried, the trainer either avoided training the area around my low back or they ignored my issue and pushed me into a place that caused further injury. The trainers at Block treat me as a whole person. They don't avoid my low back...in fact, they are teaching me how to make it stronger so I have less pain and can do more of the things I used to do before my injury! Workouts are so much fun! I actually look forward to getting up and going to the gym! Block is a special place. Read on their website why the owner chose the name "Block"...when he says, "You belong here" he means it. Exercise and getting/staying in good shape is so unbelievably fun at Block. All the coaches are so knowledgeable and motivating. I was fortunate enough to continue exercising fairly rigorously through my pregnancy. Near the very end, when I was pretty large and getting ready to pop, all the coaches gave me modifications that I could do and still get the most out of the workout. The amount of support they provide is incredible. Block is truly the best gym I’ve ever been to.

Joseph is like none other in the business!
Professional, knowledgeable, fun, caring, kind and someone to look up to. He represents what he preaches!
He has great workouts each month, an app to track your progress in his group strength training program and gives regularly to local charities.
I am so glad my friend brought me to check out his program because I've found a great place to not only workout, but meet a new group of friends.

This gym is a special place. Not only is Joseph a talented trainer, he's able to bring out the best in people on a number of levels, making the Block a place where you'll meet your fitness goals and have a good time doing it. I'm stronger in my early 40s than I was in my early 20s, and Joseph helped me work through a shoulder issue that has bugged me for decades. This is hands-down the best gym ever! The group fitness classes are fun, dynamic, and make you work hard. And with the training rotating monthly, there is never a chance to get bored. I’m not one for writing reviews, but Block Fitness is worthy of a review. Joseph has created an atmosphere at the gym that is fun, encouraging and at the end of the day gets results. There isn’t a time that I don’t look forward to going because even though I know I’m going to work really hard, I’m also going to laugh and enjoy the hour.
