I was diagnosed with cancer in November 2025. I was told by my doctor that yoga would be really helpful with my mindset. So I decided to try the Yoga/Tai Chi classes at the Body & Brain center in Tempe. Through my trails and tribulations of going through chemo and surgery, I have found peace and harmony through these classes. Master Koko and her team are amazing teachers and have made me feel welcome since day one. The classes help strengthen my mind and body AND the camaraderie amongst the students makes you feel loved and accepted. There is no judgement, just acceptance. I would recommend Tempe Body & Brain to anyone that needs peace and solidarity and is willing to put the work in to heal.

Joining this yoga practice has been one of the best decisions Iβve made for my overall well-being. Each class helps me unwind, focus, and restore balance in both body and mind. Walked in this location looking for chigong practice after practicing chigong from youtube. Learning in person makes a world of a difference. Masters Koko, Juvelyn, Arnel and other masters are very supportive, caring, patient, and have tons of wisdom. I recommend widening your perspective from Western medicine and training chakras and meridians with this chigong practice. Chakras and meridians are hidden, not visible, infrastructure that lead to physical health, emotional and spiritual vitality. I had no idea my lower 3 chakras were so weak and that manifested as much struggling in life. About a year into this practice, the debilitating chronic fatigue that I dealt with for 20 years has diminished, I feel grounded, centered and more balanced. People note how grounded and powerful I come off and ask what I am doing. That's coming from a very disempowered, anxious and demoralized state a year ago. Thank you!!

The yoga practiced at Body and Brain is completely different from what most people are familiar with. It is Korean style and integrates body and brain principles making it a truly wholistic and healing practice. The exercises taught at Body and Brain are simple yet highly effective. There are no unrealistic poses as there are in traditional yoga, making Korean style much more accessible to individuals of all ages and abilities to achieve improved fitness and health. All the instructors are highly trained and qualified, and the center manager at the Tempe location, master Koko, is very kind, generous, and always makes everyone feel welcome and empowered.

I took a qigong class from koko, and I felt my body full of energy, and I felt so cool and happy. And I heard the sound healing from Terri, and the rain-sounding instrument was so memorable. I felt so calm and good when I meditated while listening to the sound. And I heard how to heal myself from Juvelyn, and just taking this class made me feel and grateful to myself. I joined Dahn Yoga about 3 months ago in order to increase exercise and because I was intrigued by the brain exercises that they do. During this time my strength has been improving increasingly, as well as my balance, brain focus and flexibility, plus it helps me reduce the intensity and numbers of headaches that I get. I love this place. I ended up taking one of their workshops (twice in a row, actually!) and it definitely feels like what I imagine mini version of Joe Dispenzaβs workshop would be like.
Yeah, Iβd say itβs definitely worth it for the price to impact ratio. The confidence and peace of mind I have in my everyday life now is, well, awesome!
In doing these exercises I didnβt know how much confidence my little toes needed! I told my coworker that my toes have so much confidence now that I feel like Iβm the one making the floor lava! Iβm impenetrably from the βFloor Is Lavaβ game now! I win! π
A lot of what I find from taking these classes are more of looking deep within. Like confronting each blocks of the self preserving ego. Looking after each the physical, spiritual, and mental aspects of my life helps me to clean up areas that Iβve been holding onto.

This review is of the Scottsdale location. Looks like most of the B&B Yoga Tai Chi positive reviews are for Tempe? I really wanted to like the Scottsdale location even if it is 25 minutes from my home because it is the only Tai Chi, other than a Saturday morning in a park, that I can find remotely close to me. I went in October 2023 after seeking out an in-person (I've researched, this is truly the only way to practice effectively). The main instructor is a former saleswoman and sadly that was the biggest issue. I did an introductory class and she was so intent on upselling (she also inappropriately wove in pseudoscience with this abdomen percussion stick that was truly dangerous). I nearly blocked her cell number after being hounded by her after the first meeting. Very much a shame it was not pure. Too afraid to call back to see if she is gone.

After moving to Arizona from California I was so happy to find a Body & Brain studio in Tempe; just 10 minutes away from my home. The center is so warm and inviting and the instructors have so much compassion and knowledge to help you grow and improve your body condition. I had not been in a center for awhile and after getting COVID, my anxiety was at its ultimate high and my nervous system was a complete mess. In just a month after coming back to practicing again at a Body and Brain center, my nervous system is much more calm and I feel really grounded in my body. Thank you for giving me hope!

Their website is an uninformative NIGHTMARE . I tried to contact them about enrolling in classes on website via their online form and it had SO MANY CAPSHAW security puzzles you have to solve (about 8) before it will let you verify that youβre not a robot in order to press the submit button to send the formβ¦.seriously? and then after verifying Iβm not a robot, their system STILL wouldnβt let me submit the form! What a royal waste of my time. Why doesnβt this business just state what their prices are instead of hiding them? Makes me think theyβre another deceptive, over-priced sweatshop or gym which are on every corner of this state. No thanks! This is SO Unprofessional , so bye, Iβll take my business elsewhere

I've dealt with Chronic discomfort and didn't have the best lifestyle prior to joining this program. The past 6 months I have been here have helped me so much. My chronic pain as improved so much though there is still work to be done but now it's not so much about treating that but now learning to be a better version of myself going forward. Iβve struggled with chronic pain for over 2 years, and in the past month of working with Master Kim I am feeling drastic changes in my body and mind. You may be wondering why the term βmasterβ? Whatβs beautiful about this practice is that it means he has become the master of his own life (not the master of others), and is teaching me how to do the same.This isnβt the only healing work Iβm doing, but as it becomes a daily practice it feels the most transformational.
As I attend classes several times a week at the Body and Brain center in Tempe, I am finding a new level of connection with my body and my true self. The practice involves yoga, tai chi, qigong, body work, energy work, and meditation among other powerful practices, and Master Kim is truly gifted in teaching. I love working with someone as kind and genuine as this man. I've recently started taking classes at the Tempe location again. Overall, I've seen an increase in flexibility and energy, and lowered stress levels.
Also, I'm experiencing my energetic body more often. This is a result of a combination of stretching/yoga/tai-chi exercise to unblock meridian channels (the same ones that acupuncturist work with).
If you're seeking a rigorous workout, this is not the place for you (unless you've been sedentary for a long time). If you want to increase mental clarity, energy levels and relaxed states, you should definitely check it out.

Even though I have only been a member for 3 months, I have already seen huge improvements in my health with my cholesterol, my A1c and my blood pressure all improving dramatically! But just as important have been the tremendous changes to my all around happiness. I find myself happy most of the time versus struggling to be happy for at least a little while. Master Jeonjin and Master Carli are two incredibly giving people who have made my journey exciting, attainable, peaceful and full of love. Finding Dahn was no accident, it was exactly what I needed to help me ground and connect with my body. I have become more flexible and my range of motion has improved. I joined Dahn Yoga about 2 months ago and started to see the difference. My stress levels are low. When I am tired coming back from work, I force myself to go to the class and practice with everyone in the class and get energized so much. It is hard to describe in words, one has to experience it. I also took shim-sung workshop which is amazing. I never practiced practiced yoga before and I regret for not starting earlier. I recommend Dahn Yoga for a great physical, mental and spiritual experience.

I found Dahn Yoga and returned to a Yoga practice after a number of years.
This practice is a well integrated combination of Yoga, Tai Chi and Qi Kung.

I have been coming to Tempe DAHN YOGA for almost one year. What a great difference it has made in my life. I had no expectations other than wanting to refresh the Tai Chi moves that I learned via video many years back which calmed me whenever I practiced it.
After a few months of attending consistently the classes I brought it up with my instructor that I felt blessed in life but I didn't realize more blessings were to come through DAHN Yoga. The asthma that weighed me down physically and which progressively affected my mental and emotional state to the point of helplessness and hopelessness is much less of a burden. I feel more in control as I have learned to breathe.
I continue to improve in my health but what makes me keep coming to the program is the deepening of my spiritual life. There is a deeper and broader dimension of the DAHN YOGA practice. I feel that I am beginning to tap into my natural ability to heal myself and also have a growing desire to dedicate my life to helping others to be reminded of their own greatness.

The Tempe Dahn Yoga Center is wonderful place to by for my Yoga, the Master John is great caring and really loves all of us and cares about helping us to improve and advance in our life. He knows that Dahn Yoga method help and work and she true feeling relate the method at a level the all can learn. I found this wonderful place just a couple of weeks ago. I am so glad to have wound up here. It's better than I had hoped for. No dry forms to memorize. Daily routines are different and challenging but at your on level. The instructors are awesome and so are the classmates. Everyone has been warm and friendly. Tempe Dahn Yoga is nothing less than Awesome! I had practiced yoga for many years at a gym, but knew something was missing. Tempe Dahn Yoga has put all of the pieces together, body, mind, spirit and community.
John and Insoon are so engaged with each member to ensure a positive experience. My change in spirit was so dramatic, my husband of 35 years is now attending. Our relationship is stronger along with our bodies and minds.

I better first experience couldn't have been possible for me. John is always exceptionally welcoming and I am comfortable throughout the classes. In each that I have attended, the other participants have been equally warm and helpful. The best part for me is that I leave each class with a sense of peace and calmness. I have greatly benefited from every component of class, which includes warm-up exercises, breathing and postures, stretching, and meditation. My friend and I were looking to add some exercise into our schedule, so we each purchased a Groupon for ten classes at Dahn Yoga.
I was expecting some typical yoga classes--you know, downward dog pose and such...
The experience ended up being completely different than I expected. At Dahn, they practice a traditional Korean style of yoga that focuses highly on meditation and affirmation. I did break a sweat during the first portion, although I am not very graceful and had trouble with many of the poses that were unfamiliar to me.
During the second half of class, we had to do a few things I was NOT used to. For instance, we had to listen to strange jungle music and kick our legs up in the air for a good five minutes. I'm pretty shy about that kind of thing, so I felt really embarrassed and was wondering what I got myself into. But during the following meditation portion, I began to feel really relaxed. We were supposed to feel an energy ball between our hands, and it actually did feel like something was there. I left the session feeling very relaxed, limber, and destressed.
I've gone to about seven classes since, and am kind of hooked. I always go in feeling stressed from work and life but leave feeling great! The exercise and stretches really help me to loosen up, and the meditation time is nice as I don't get a lot of "quiet" during the rest of my week. I'm becoming less and less inhibited about the exercises I find "strange."
I should also mention that the instructors are SO nice. They have, on more than one occasion, spent extra time with my friend and I after class to make sure we have the poses down and feel comfortable.
Since my Groupon expires soon, I went ahead and signed up for more classes. The instructor was really nice about helping me choose a membership that works with my budget.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend Dahn if you're looking for typical exercise-focused yoga classes, or are easily embarassed. But if you want to try something new and have a great outlet for destressing, I'd definitely recommend giving it a try. They occassionally will offer free classes for people to come and check it out.
A few notes for new patrons:
-Wear socks! The ones with the "grip" at the bottom work great!
-You don't need to bring your own yoga mat--the studio's floor is a big mat.
-Occasionally there are partner activities, so it's nice to come with a friend.
-Don't expect "typical" yoga, but be open to something new!

I joined Dahn Yoga & Tai Chi, Tempe AZ location one year ago, April 2012. I really enjoy that every class is different. There is no 'routine' to get tired of, they're always changing it up because one of their principles is to make your brain think. My balance is much better, and I've learned to meditate. The classes also offer deep stretching, good for working out over-used muscles and keeping your joints limber. The instructors are sincerely friendly, and coach you in a way that makes it fun, yet challenging for various physical abilities. I enjoy doing this for myself.

Great classes. Great instructors. I have lots of energy and I am very flexible because I learned Dahn Yoga methods and practice them every day. I also teach classes at my senior community. I am in my 70s and am more energized and flexible than people in their 30s. When you take the classes and begin to practice your body and spirit will get aligned. You will feel so ALIVE again.

I started here because of a chronic pain issue that prevents me from doing other exercise and learned the importance of keeping movement in my frozen shoulder.
Every time I showed up John greeted me with a smile and wanted to know how I was doing. I felt so much at home compared to other gyms or yoga studios. The stretching seemed so healthy and I was never pushed beyond my limitations. Some of the class was energy meditation which also helps you cope with any pain or condition you might be struggling with as well. I highly recommend this Dahn Yoga facility.
