About the Club

Community Yoga was founded by Evon Hart, Certified Yoga Instructor since 2003, and funded by her students, friends and family through a wildly successful crowdsourcing campaign. She offers weekly classes from Gentle to Intermediate levels, as well as workshops on the various aspects of yoga including breath-work, meditation and philosophy. Students can sign up for Evon's classes on the website under "Evon's Schedule" or pay in person with cash/Zelle. In addition to Evon's classes, there are classes throughout the week led by yoga instructors who rent the studio from Evon, handling registration and payment independently. Community Yoga acts as a collective, a place to share the sacred practice of Yoga in it's many layers.

Evon’s teachings have made a profoundly positive impact on my health. Over the years, I dabbled in yoga classes but never stuck with them — but Evon’s approach had me coming back for more. Through her guidance, you’ll learn about breathing, form, and mindfulness, gaining the foundation for a long and healthy yoga practice.

I’m so grateful for your spirit and the time I spent learning from you, Evon. I’m excited to continue my yoga journey.

I can't express how much I appreciate Evon's expertise in yoga, meditation, anatomy, and physiology. Her classes are like workshops, where she breaks down a pose and teaches us how to be smarter yogis, which allows for a deeper practice. This is the only yoga class where I can genuinely focus on improving instead of simply pushing through the flow. I'm learning so much and am truly grateful. The community Evon has created at Community Yoga is welcoming and supportive, and I feel lucky to have found it.

This is the studio that this neighborhood has needed for years. Evon Hart, the founder, who brought this community together, has created a place that is welcoming, authentic and takes us back to what yoga is really all about. All of the instructors are wonderful and bring something different to the practice. Every time I walk in I’m reminded of why I love yoga so much and the community that it brings together. If you haven’t come by yet, you’re missing out.

Wow, wow, wow.. I am in Phoenix dog/house sitting for a month and wanted to do some yoga and I could not have asked for a better studio or better teachers. Evon has created such a warm and welcoming space, from the moment I walked into the studio I felt like I was at home. Both Evon and Ellens classes are great. Very well informed and easy to follow instructions. Mindfulness is brought in to ground you into your practice. I highly recommend this studio to anyone wanting to connect deeper with their practice, to start a practice or join a community of like minded individuals. The partners workshop was particularly wonderful and I was able to attend with another individual so don't be shy if you are alone. Jump in and take a class, you will not be disappointed.

Community Yoga is truly my favorite place to spend time. Evon creates such a welcoming environment for every person there. She has taught me what yoga truly is and has given me an opportunity to bring presence to my practice on and off my yoga mat. I always feel better on my way out the door than when I first walk in. I am so grateful to have stumbled into this community by chance. I go twice a week and notice it brings a calm, balanced energy to my life.

Community Yoga founded by Evon Hart is an amazing yoga community. I have know Evon for more than 20 years, as one of her first yoga teachers. Now I am one of her committed students. Evon marries her knowledge of the physical body as a massage therapist with her ongoing study and commitment to the practice and teaching of yoga over these past 20 years. Evon assures every student feels welcomed, that they are safe in their practice and truly embodies yoga as a union of mind, body and spirit. She is skilled in the physical asana practice, creating a class structure and sequencing to meet the needs of beginning, intermediate and advanced students. She brings yoga philosophy into the practice with a deep commitment to sharing what sometimes can be complex and confusing concepts to a “householder yogi’s” to allow the ability to integrate into their daily lives and practices. She is an excellent writer, shares her thoughts and invites others to share. And, she makes all of us lighten up, laugh and find joy in our practice. She loves music integrating that love with practice. She has created a wonderful team of instructors. You will not go wrong with any of their classes. Lastly, Community Yoga is a “community”. This is Evon’s vision and commitment..

Although Community Yoga has been open for less than a year, this studio has been over 20 years in the making. Evon Hart is not only one of the best yoga instructors in the Western US, she has very quietly and over many years cultivated a true community of yogis- of all ages, body types, and levels of yoga experience. Her hands on approach, attention to form, kindness and wicked sense of humor all combine to make the energy of this space hummmmm! Look no further for yoga in Phoenix… this is not only THE place, it’s YOUR place.

How lucky we are to experience Community Yoga and Evon Hart.
I have been practicing yoga with Evon for 20 years, she is so welcoming for all levels of yoga and her true gift is connecting to each person and their needs. I am so happy that her enthusiasm and passion for yoga and connecting people will be available for everyone at Community Yoga. I started my yoga journey with Evon as my prenatal yoga teacher over 18 years ago at A Desert Song yoga. During the pandemic, Evon’s online classes kept me connected to a community during those difficult years. I am so happy that she has this new space that she shares with many other wonderful yoga instructors. As people have said in other reviews, Community Yoga is for everyone! Evon is caring and thoughtful and teaches us that there is more to yoga than just the asanas (poses).

As the name suggests, Community Yoga is truly a yoga space for ALL members of the community: for beginners and advanced practioners, for people of all ages, for people of all sizes and body types, for people seeking the physical strength that comes from yoga and for people seeking a place to practice mindfulness and spirituality. Evon and the other teachers on the schedule instruct their classes with tremendous knowledge and compassion. I strongly recommend it!

I've known Evon as a colleague and fellow practitioner since 2003. When the pandemic hit in 2020, Evon transitioned to virtual teaching, and I have been fortunate to be able to continue my yoga practice with her as my teacher. She is deeply devoted to bringing yoga into the lives of her students with integrity and grace. Community Yoga is an inclusive expression of Evon's generous heart. I appreciate the opportunity to practice in-person again, and it's worth the long drive I make each Saturday morning to do my yoga in such a beautiful, welcoming place.

The way the teachers at Community Yoga guide the practice has ruined me for most yoga classes. While class is always strengthening, opening, and exactly what I need physically, it's is so much more than that. There's such a deep connection to everything else that's important, everything we can take with us off of the mat-- acceptance, joy, patience, curiosity, discipline, connection, love... all the good stuff. And the hard stuff.

One of the things I value most in Evon's teaching is the levity that she brings. That it doesn't matter at all (and she'll remind you that it doesn't) if your foot is over your head or your knee is on the ground as long as the alignment is healthy. It's the only yoga studio I've ever been to where we laugh in class.

I always leave feeling like I got just what I needed that night and how does she know? But she reminds us often that it feels that way because so much of being human is universal.

It's such a warm, vibrant, welcoming community of non-yoga-snobs. Come join our community! <3
