I’ve been working out twice a week at CrossFit Precipice for two months; I am very pleased with my experience. The coaches are knowledgeable, helpful, and attentive. Class sizes are very small, limited to six, so they provide lots of personalized coaching. This has helped me so much—I’m getting stronger despite the old injuries I thought I just had to live with.

The coaching and environment were so welcoming! A pleasant surprise to find the Box in a home garage, that is well organized and very professional. Coach Mel was attentive and constructive in her cues throughout the warmup and workout. Wonderful spot to drop in at as I was passing through Flagstaff. Looking forward to my next visit.

I had a great drop-in experience at CF Precipice! The coaching was top notch. Mel gave wonderful, clear, and personalized instruction and cues throughout the session. The members were very welcoming and made me feel right at home. The workout was scaled to everyone's ability level so even though we were different, we all got the same quality workout.

Would absolutely recommend for anyone visiting Flagstaff, or any locals looking for a gym home.

1+ year update: love the programming and environment! Cannot stress how much thought, time, and energy Coach Mel puts into creating a welcoming and positive atmosphere. It’s a judgement free zone where coaches meet you where you’re at and help you progress.

Love the small group training sessions and the individual attention. Structure of classes also allow for a lot of skill development and practice before jumping into the Workout of the Day. Whether you’re new to strength and conditioning or well-versed in it, would highly recommend checking out a class with coach Mel and Lisa!

This is not a gym this is a garage in what used to be a peaceful neighborhood. This place is very loud, obnoxious and disrespectful as music blares, weights are dropped onto concrete harshly and the teacher screaming on alternating hours from 7am until 8pm 4 days a week. I have PTSD and very sensitive sensory issues but this woman has never bothered to even ask permission to host even one class. The police being called wasn't enough of a clue that the businesses presence it not wanted here. Nothing here is being done legally or professionally inspected for safety so consumer beware.
Edit
I'm not buying what you're selling. You don't seem to understand that your business is disturbing the peace and causing a debilitating affect on my mental health constantly. You've been given a ridiculous amount of time to adjust your music and what not to reduce the amount of noise and discomfort that is felt when strangers are persistently arriving and leaving a residentialy zoned area. Not a public building with public parking and the required facilities necessary to properly run this type of business. Bottom line Mel, it's no longer appropriate and youre causing more harm than you're willing to care about. I have the medical documentation to back it so please do not turn this into something it doesn't need to be. Many many others have opened up successfull fitness locations all over. You could possibly opening a great big and successful chapter in your life. I will never deny your talent and or ability to do improve people's live through your instruction. However it is now time to upgrade your venue and move it all somewhere else that isn't right outside my bedroom window. I'm going to do what it takes to protect my mental health and my right to live in my residence of over 30 years peacefully and quietly without migraine headaches and an increase in wildlife.
If possible post some proof of your claims to your website. Thank you.

Mel is a fantastic instructor. I couldn't recommend Crossfit Precipice more highly. I came to her class not having exercised with a coach, in a gym or in a group setting for 50 years. My strength and functional fitness had declined severely over the past decade (or two); limited mobility, constant pain in my arm and shoulder, a growing list of limitations and grouches. I was feeling old. I was very apprehensive about using weights to fix what ailed me.
I could not have been more wrong! Two months in and the muscle/nerve pain has all but disappeared, my strength and mobility is returning, and I'm having a ton of fun. Workouts are always building and testing my limits; and it's nice that Mel always stresses form and safety. Besides that, all the other Crossfit Precipice members are great to be with too. As I said before, I couldn't recommend Mel's classes more highly. She cares about what she's doing and it shows.

Mel really is a great coach. She manages to push you and encourage you at the same time, and she watches closely so that you don’t get hurt. The masters class she designed is brilliant. The masters meet less often than the regular CrossFit groups, and spend longer on warmup. Mel understands “use it or lose it,” and regularly tells us why a particular move is useful for everyday living. Highly recommended!

I've found my fitness home at CrossFit Precipice! From the moment you walk in, you're embraced by a community that values inclusiveness, positivity, and personal growth. The coaching at CrossFit Precipice is beyond exceptional. Mel, Rene, and Lisa are truly dedicated, paying meticulous attention to every move you make to ensure the best form and results while preventing injury. Their expertise and personalized approach are evident in every session. The small class sizes are fantastic, allowing for individualized attention and a more intimate, supportive atmosphere. If you are looking for small group, diverse, and effective training in Flagstaff, I highly recommend trying CrossFit Precipice. The people are welcoming, encouraging, and come in all shapes, ages, backgrounds, and abilities. The coaches are knowledgeable, attentive, and empathetic. The workouts are well thought out and will push you into your growth zone, but they are safe and accessible due to scaling availability and personal attention. The gym has great equipment and is clean and comfortable. If, like me, you've been equally curious and uncertain about CrossFit, the environment at CFP is the perfect place to start. Send Mel an email to schedule your intro session, see the gym, and maybe even drop in for a class. You'll be happy you did!

Last year when I pulled my calf muscle during training for my athletic season I knew I had to do something different and incorporate weight training and explosive movement into my routine to keep me healthy and strong. I can't say enough about the encouragement I have gotten from the coaches and members of CrossFit Precipice. Coach Mel is always there to correct my form and encourage me to complete the workouts with the most power I can produce. Within only 2 months I can already see performance improvements! She meets you where you are whether you are simply looking to improve your lifestyle, prevent injury, or reach top performance. And her smile and laugh make even the toughest workouts fly by! Top notch coaching and community!

I joined Crossfit Precipice in July and have had a wonderful experience! I was nervous joining, because I am not experienced with gyms and was not very fit, but Crossfit Precipice has been everything I was looking for in a gym and more! I am very pleased with the fitness progress I have made since joining. The smaller setting feels less intimidating and more personable and I am always surprised and impressed at the amount of equipment Mel has available.
Mel is an incredible trainer. She has a light hearted and joyful manner that makes the workouts fun, she is a great motivator, and I always feel confident and secure in Mel's knowledge of the movements and appropriate scaling for my strength level.
The community at Crossfit Precipice was an awesome added bonus. They are a welcoming and jovial bunch that I love getting to spend a few hours each week with.

Bottom line - I highly recommend Mel and Crossfit Precipice. If you are looking for a gym, give this place a shot!

Mel and Lisa, who are the coaches at CrossFit Precipice, are truly some of the best coaches I've had. They have immense knowledge of each movement, how the body works, and how to meet each athlete where they are at in their fitness/wellness journey. I come from a marathon and endurance background so CrossFit and what I knew to be "CrossFit" felt intimidating at first but they made me feel welcome and through their coaching and guidance I can say I'm less intimidated and a much more rounded athlete. I am stronger, have increased mobility, fewer injuries and honestly more mentally tough than I ever have been. I can not say enough good things about Mel, Lisa and the community at CrossFit Precipice who are always so encouraging, help push and challenge what you thought you were capable of and are there to help celebrate your wins, big and small. If you are looking to try CrossFit as an first timer or if you're a seasoned veteran, there is no better place or community to be a part of.

Mel is hands down one of the most amazing coaches you’ll ever work with. Whether you’re a muscle up pro or you’ve never lifted a barbell, you’ll be in the right place. Her superpower is meeting you where you are and finding a way to push you to be your best. The community of athletes is also amazing - all different skills and there to encourage one another! If you want a great community, a killer coach, and want to be the best athlete you can be - this is your gym.
