I lifted here while I was traveling for work in Prescott. Great facility with a lot of different equipment! Very knowledgeable coaches, with a major focus on strength, but importantly longevity. The workouts have a variety of different movements and exercises, so the workouts are never dull or the same.

After my precious daughter, Kris Little, passed last year, I decided to continue her commitment to making herself stronger on the inside and out. I joined DriveRx Fitness off 6th Street downtown Prescott and found that it is my Haven too. My ‘almost daily’ routine has become part of my life and when I have to miss a class, I’m truly disappointed. Joey and Magnus do a wonderful job at teaching about nutrition and strength training for life. They help us strengthen muscles will need in preparation for aging. Today I had a mobility class with Andrea and it was awesome. Working out all those areas that toxic stress. And Brian is there to welcome everyone with a smile. This entire team is amazing. Supporting, encouraging and kind. This makes me feel good. 😊

Great place to work out to gain or maintain strength, flexibility, and balance. Joey and the coaches are will informed and do a great job of educating us on the correct form and posture to do the exercises. All while taking care to not injure or aggravate existing physical conditions. Individual coaching is great and since we live in an aging community of Prescott having a fitness center that meets our needs is great. Highly recommend!

DriveRx Fitness is great! Joey really knows his stuff - the most knowledgable trainer in Prescott! He helps you do the work in ways that keep you from getting injured. I lost 10% body fat and gained 12lb of muscle weight in just 6mo!
Then after 12mo I went from 95# deadlift to a 385# deadlift, and I've never worked out in a gym consistently before!

For the most part, I enjoyed training at this gym because I had an excellent trainer who no longer trains there. There is also a beautiful park in the back that you can access from the gym.
Unfortunately, there is no heat in the winter, and renovations are never completed. It makes me sad because there is so much potential. Very unprofessional. (Just Google their photo of the sign out front indicating the name of the gym. It's the wrong name!) Finally, no one ever answers the business phone.

9 years ago I retired and moved to Prescott Arizona. I had a chronic sore lower back, achy neck and shoulders from a job standing for hours & hours. I was determined to find a gym that could help me strengthen my back and core so I could rid this problem forever! I walked into then called Prescott Crossfit And met Joey. For three weeks he introduced me to proper technique in weight lifting, exercise etc.. I attended class consistently four days a Week going on 9 years. My back problems are gone! I recently took a trip overseas, long flight. It was a pleasure sitting and not squirming in my seat trying to find a way to sit comfortably. It’s truly amazing how exercise with great instruction from qualified instructors could change your life. Thank you Joey, Andrea, Nick and Jeri.

We LOVE this gym. My husband Jake and I started at Drive with the 6 week challenge, and were very quickly impressed by the results we saw both physically and mentally. Joey, Nick and Andrea are top notch coaches, know their craft inside out and are so welcoming and motivating. We got a customized meal plan for the challenge, which really helped us clean up our nutrition and build healthier habits, and Jake trimmed 20 lbs away over the 6 weeks. But the most important factor for us is community! We both played sports in college and have been looking for a gym with a team-like, motivating atmosphere with people that both challenge and encourage. We’ve tried a few other gyms in the greater Prescott area, but the technical knowledge and uplifting environment at Drive just cannot be beat. We definitely feel we found our home base here. Would highly recommend!

I absolutely love Drive Rx. Joey, Andrea, Nick and their entire team are serious about injury-free results. After 2 months I noticed real results. After 4 years I have experienced incredible results. I have never felt as physically fit in my life as I do now. For example, at age 40 I hiked the Grand Canyon to the bottom and back the same day and I struggled immensely. I did it again at age 45, same thing, again I struggled. At age 52 and 4 years after training with Drive Rx I walked down and out with no trouble at all. No struggling, no pain, no problems whatsoever.
Joey and his team take pride in teaching us the proper techniques. It is true we are training to increase muscle and decrease fat. In reality, we are training to function in everyday life. I do not want to fall down and break an arm or a hip because I am weak and have little bone density. I don't want to pull a muscle loading dog food into the car! Those who commit to Drive Rx will experience real results and will age with confidence. Fitness is for everyone. Started with the 6 week challenge and will continue. Having a trainer, nutritionist, and group interval training was the best possible combo after laying on the couch for the last 3 years. I lost 14 lbs, 4 inches on my waist, 2.5% body fat, and was able to cut my high blood pressure medication in half. Along with those health benefits, the biggest takeaway was knowledge of nutrition. Really thinking about how to fuel my body to get the feeling and results i worked really hard for. The App they provided was a catalyst to learning the nutrition portion quickly. Which for me is the most difficult aspect to stay disciplined.

For reference I was a member of Drive Rx from July 2019-May 2023, and averaged 4-5 sessions there per week during that time.

Joey and Andrea run a great operation that is safe, effective, and community focused. They truly have something for everyone regardless of age, gender, physical ability/disability. Their clients range from teenagers, college athletes, young men/women training to enter the military, middle-aged parents, and seniors/retirees. The classes trend toward specialized strength and conditioning rather than 'traditional' WODs. Their workout plans develop strength, stability, and injury prevention through weekly cycles as opposed to normal CrossFit daily variety.

On top of the focus on developing sustainable strength and injury prevention, Joey and Andrea are just flat-out super nice people and truly care about each of their clients. As well, they support a number of other Prescott small businesses within their facility-which says a lot about their desire to build up and support the success of others. The facility itself is cleaned daily and has your normally expected complement of strength equipment in addition to a variety of other more specialized pieces like GHD, Reverse-Hyper, Kabuki, Hex Trap Bars, Rickshaw Carriers, MonkeyFeet, and more. They are constantly reinvesting in their facility and adding to the equipment/layout.

In closing, if I had to point out one highlight that says the most about their operation, it's this: their clientele and operations support ALL ages and fitness levels. I don't know of any other gyms that can boast so many senior members that can perform the variety and quality of strength, agility, and athletic movements that the members at DriveRx can perform. On any given day you will see twenty-somethings as well as 55+ members safely performing Olympic lifts, agility drills, and Tabata/HIIT workouts. Joey and Andrea care about their members' health and the greater Prescott area. If you're looking for a traditional CrossFit experience, you can try Captain CrossFit just up the street (great gym too!). If you're looking for something else, give DriveRx a shot and you'll like what you find!

I can't say enough great things about my experience with Joey & Andrea, and their team of trainers, but here's my story :)

I am a 61 y.o. woman who is no stranger to the gym and fitness programs....then came COVID...gym's closed, nutrition went into the dumpster, pounds came on, and my arthritic shoulder seized. So began my journey in Prescott & Prescott Valley for a gym.

I was told about Drive Rx over a year ago and in February I went for an appointment.

I have suffered from shoulder issues for a few years now and have tried countless other non-surgical remedies. After one meeting with Joey and his application of a body builders secret, I was sold!!! As an added bonus they were having a 6-week weight loss challenge!!

3 months ago, I could not lift a coffee mug over my head and today I can press 8 pounds and my range of motion has increased 100%. By following their simple to follow meal plan I have not only lost 15 pounds, feel years younger and almost all arthritic pain has been minimized.

In a nutshell, Joey and Andrea:
A) care about their clients
B) are extremely knowledgeable about injuries and fitness
C) have a modification for EVERYTHING (there are no excuses 😉 )
D) their clientele ranges in age from 18 – 80

I've been attending CrossFit Prescott since April 2022 and it has legitimately been one of the best decisions I've made. I'm stronger, more upright and, quite literally, have a spring in my step. I am much lighter on my feet, more nimble and alert. At 55 years old, I figure I can either pay for it upfront through exercise or pay for it on the back end with pharmaceuticals. I'll choose the exercise and Joey is a superb leader and trainer. One of the best I've ever come across and I've been exercising since I was 18. I’ve waited to leave a review so I could give an honest and full one. It’s been about 9 months now consistently going 5 days a week. CrossFit with Joey improved the quality of my life tremendously! And in more ways than just physically. If you are open to passionate and humor filled instruction, the kind that goes beyond the superficial greetings before a class starts…this is the gym for you. Joey wants you to succeed, he wills it in the way he teaches. I started as an older woman who was afraid to jump or leave the ground to a confident, more athletic person who can do box jumps, balance board and even hurdles. It was realized with quality instruction that gets you there step by step with concise thought out movements over time, not all at once. They keep you safe along your fitness journey and never once did I injure myself. Joey knows all there is to know about the human body and how it functions. Every mechanism within a movement is monitored and fixed as needed. I have learned so much, about fitness, adapting, athleticism, perseverance, and overcoming fear. Due to an injury that happened outside of class I had to take a small break and I miss it already! But as with all learning, adaption is part of what I’ve learned. In the meantime I’ll do lots of yoga and will myself to heal quickly so I can return to what I’m truly passionate about!

This is an amazing gym and the trainers are the best! They have programs that challenge every age and level of fitness. I don’t know much about Crossfit. What I have knowledge of is occupational and physical therapy sports injury training and I am an award winning instructor in multiple arts. I always seek the best to train with in everything I do. I searched for a place went to almost all of the CrossFit’s in Prescott and what I found is Joey and His wife Andrea teaching with care just like I do! Also Members as soon as I was at the desk told me I would love it here ( btw you were right and thank you) Not one person in any of the other places cared to say hi in fact some acted like I was in the way and they didn’t look as happy as the people here either. The instructors here at Cross Fit Prescott I believe are exceptional and caring and I am glad I found a place that works around some injuries that I have too. Should you try it? Absolutely! If I can walk in on my own so can you. Plus, you have to start somewhere! You’ll find genuinely Good people here where the focus is only on what’s important and necessary for you to succeed . This place rocks.

I was lifting on my own for about two years before I got in contact with Joey. My own programming (SS, SL, 5X5, etc) was showing diminishing returns and I was getting frustrated with the plateaus.

After a few days of on-boarding with Joey and Andrea, I put all those fears to rest: The class sizes are small, the programming is consistent and focused on results and longevity, not ego and bragging rights. I can change out my adaptive gear and keep pace with the other participants. There's enough equipment to keep everyone moving, and if I need to find an alternative movement, I'm not interrupting anyone else.

I've been coming here relatively consistently for about five months now, and I've pushed through every plateau that I was struggling with. No injuries to speak of. I feel stronger and healthier than I ever did training on my own.

Now, if you're just passing through town, this probably isn't the right gym for you. It's not an open box. It's not a place to catch a quick workout on your way to points unknown. It's a place to spend 6-12 weeks working with programming that is proven to make you stronger and more athletic.

Joey and team were extremely knowledgeable beyond just weight training. They’re the kind of team that’s willing to go the extra mile if you’re willing to put in the work.

Since moving from Prescott I have yet to find a gym that drives me to push myself in all the right ways. I’m extremely grateful for the physical and mental gains I achieved at CrossFit Prescott (just note, this isn’t a “Crossfit” gym).

One other note...I’ve suffered from chronic lower back pain and after a couple months in the program my back was stronger and the pain I used to experience during long road trips subsided.

This is hands down the best gym I have ever been to. The community is fun and supportive and the programming is geared toward strength, conditioning, and longevity. The coaches are incredibly good at what they do. They got me into the best shape of my life and helped me completely rehab my left shoulder, which had been causing me grief for over a decade. I can’t thank them enough. I left Prescott earlier this year, and this facility is the place I miss most. If you’re thinking about going, go. What a pppositi and encouraging environment. After reading reviews I contacted this gym. I spoke to Joey , the owner. I asked him if he could take a look at my nine year old son who has weakness on his left side from a brain injury during birth. My son started last year working out with Joey. My son went from not being able to walk less than a mile without being carried, not confident on playgrounds, afraid to fall, and timid. My son is now ten. He is a whole different kid. He has been climbing ladders, running and jumping around, playing roughly, not crying much if he falls, and extremely confident. Not just confident in his develpidev abilities but confident and a young man. He said last week, "Don't Tell Joey this but I think it's thanks to him I am such an amazing athlete now!" :) My husband took him to an off road show last month and he walked five miles without one complaint! My son is very hyper and can lose focus. Joey is patient and encouraging. He redirects my son so well. He challenges him and is firm yet compassionate. He has a heart of gold. I am so thankful for people like Joey. Everyone in the gym is encouraging and welcoming to my son from the trainers to the patrons. So many people have watched him improve and made sure to tell me! The owner Joey is first class. His knowledge of the human body and how to get the best out of each individual is amazing. I have trained extensively with professional athletes as well as professional trainers. I have to say there is more functional training coming out of that gym in Prescott than all of the premire sports training facilities I have been privy to. He does all of this while putting safety first and never allowing desired outcomes to take a back seat. The secret to his gym is his heart for each individual that he trains. Joey is one of the greatest motivators I have worked with. He genuinely cares for the holistic development of his clients. Mind, body, and soul. CrossFit Prescott is definitely a gym in Prescott that should be on a national stage for the facilities, the goal oriented training, and for the enrichment of the individual.

After having done Crossfit for 4+ years at 3 different box’s, I thought that I was in the best physical shape of my life. After spending a handful of months at Crossfit Prescott under the instruction of Joey, I realized that I was sadly mistaken. The first thing that he helped me improved on was my form, this took care of some minor pain/ issues I was having with my shoulder and knee.
My PR’s increased across the board, some more dramatically than others (deadlift from 300 to 350; muscle-ups from 2 sets of 3, to 3 sets of 10! Just for reference, I’m 5’3”, 135 lbs.). I also saw significant gains in the sports I did apart from Crossfit; my 2 mile run time decreased by almost 3 minutes, and my 500 yard swim went from 11 min to 8 min 30 sec, and I became a stronger biker. I was able to do this despite the fact that I actually cut back my training in those specific activities.
What was so remarkable about my transformation was that I attained the aforementioned goals in a relatively short amount of time (about 6 months) while training less than I had at any other Crossfit I had previously attended (other Crossfits: 5-6 days a week; Crossfit Prescott: 3-4 days a week). I attribute this to Joey’s ability to apply organized programing to Crossfit through his Praxis methodology. The results speak for themselves!

My name is Sarah Jacobelli. I have been going to CrossFit Prescott since 2011, and I can say without a doubt I would not be the athlete I am now without it. I am goaltender in hockey, and the workouts not only get you stronger but also faster and more agile. Joey Powell is one of the most knowledgeable men in fitness I have met. Short and sweet: CrossFit Prescott was instrumental in preparing me for one of the toughest selection courses in the Department of Defense. Without their help I would not have passed, if I even managed to get in the door.

In more detail: During high school and through my first few years of college I had workout programs taken from books and online sources, which are great, but they are not tailored to your individual skill level or availability. Through my own doing I managed to injure myself because I was overtraining, not properly stretching and doing exercises incorrectly. When I went into CrossFit Prescott, broken and confused, Joey already knew what I had done wrong within the first thirty seconds of explaining my situation. It was at this time that I had my sights set on a career in the military, specifically USAF Pararescue. I can easily say that working with Joey and his crew at CrossFit Prescott set me up for success going into selection, and without that knowledge and skill level, I would have been injured before I could pass selection. The little techniques and habits that are ingrained at CrossFit Prescott are applicable to every person that wants to feel better and stronger, regardless of age. CrossFit Prescott is one of a kind, and is leaps and bounds ahead of many gyms that claim to teach Crossfit. This is a gym that focuses on safety and hard work. If you have an injury, a painful area, Joey or any of his staff will work their magic and put you on the path to recovery in no time so you can make those GAINS. So get off your couch.

It really works! I am committed to Crossfit Prescott because Joey Powell’s program really works! Having never been an athlete, I didn’t even know what Crossfit was. I studied the Crossfit Prescott website, and still didn’t know what I was getting in to, but I was definitely intrigued. I finally made “the call”, met with Joey and knew I found something special.

After a motorcycle accident in 2007, severe injuries to my left leg and a 20-month recovery left me ridiculously weak and more out of shape then ever. Joey, our trainer, was amazing. He took the time with me and my sons showing us the mechanics of how to do certain lifts/exercises. Then, he would have us DO the lift/exercise showing us what we were doing right and what we were doing wrong. Crossfit Prescott has made me a crossfitter for life. I am a newbie to the Crossfit Prescott (CFP) Family, but I totally feel at home. The beginning of this year I turned 30 and needed a change. CrossFit Prescott is the only program I've found that has helped me build muscle and strength. The combination of Praxis and Crossfit is a great mix of training and conditioning. With regular CrossFit I plateaued and wasn't making any progress in muscle gain or strength. With the mix of Praxis and regular CrossFit my lifts have increased by a substantial amount and I feel better than ever. I see the other people in my classes improving as well and it makes me feel good when I can grow in my athleticism along with everyone else. Crossfit has a pretty tough and critiqued reputation around the country. And the bottom line was that I didn't need another physical outlet in my life. I needed something altogether different. And that's exactly what I found. Crossfit Prescott, for me, can be summed up like this. 1) COMMUNITY: I'm sick and tired of fitness being dialed down into putting on headphones and tuning out the world while sweating for 2 hours each day. Crossfit Prescott is about sharing fitness with others and overcoming physical challenges together! 2) Crossfit Prescott is about LIFELONG FITNESS. Joey doesn't train us to move mountains in a matter of months. He trains us to climb mountains for the rest of our lives. No matter what stage of life you are in.....8-80 years old! Crossfit Prescott will help you climb up the mountain of life...one step at time. 3) CHALLENGE. If Crossfit Prescott wasn't a challenge, it woudn't be worth coming. If fitness was easy, Americans wouldn't be so out of it! This gym will challenge you and teach you things that is hard to find elsewhere.
