Tee off under the warm Arizona sun in the shadow of the dramatic Santa Catalina Mountains, just north of Tucson, Arizona. El Conquistador Golf & Tennis, located in the heart of Oro Valley, boasts two 18 hole championship golf courses, the Conquistador Course and the CaΓ±ada Course. The courses provide a challenging, exciting play that is sure to deliver a true desert golf experience, with course enhancements designed by the original architects Greg Nash and Jeff Hardin.
We combine 36 holes of exceptional golf with an extensive practice facility, 31 USTA awarded tennis courts, full fitness facility, 4 pickleball courts, 2 racquetball courts, swimming pools, a restaurant and a fun calendar of social, community and dining activities.

We golf the CaΓ±ada course which was beautiful. The only thing holding it back is the cart path runs along a MAJOR road way as well as a private driveway stating
residents have priority. Other than that, fairways, greens and view were beautiful. The staff were friendly, washrooms were clean, weβll definitely go back. It was worth the 1 hour drive for us.

I feel like the course is fine its challenging , however the T-boxes are like turtle shells and so i do not T-off in the desginated area they are attrociously domed it is quite annoying to have to struggle off the T as it is , and now the ball is above or below your feet or the box is slopped front to back or vice versa its not worth the green fees to struggle like this. No PGA pro would ever t off like this in fact they would laugh if you showed them the t boxes. The driving range is the same its is slopping back to front. Also when chipping from the back you cannot see the 100 yard pole or the 60 yard one as it is down so far. They always run out of balls on the range .

This course is ok.
The pace of playing is the slowest ibever experienced. Random singles just jump on the course and play, which slows the pace. 6hr for 18 holes.

Average golf course, in decent shape. However, the pace of play is horrendous. After waiting for 5-10 minutes on each shot all day, we finally gave up on hole 16 when we crossed into the 5+ hour mark, and just skipped the last two holes. If you plan to play there, make sure you plan on a 6 hour round of golf.

The golf course is in very good shape however it was offset with lower than average customer service in the pro shop and with the on course beverage service. Only one cart servicing two courses. A call to the clubhouse finally brought the cart out after 15 holes.

First time playing the El Conquistador course 2nd course in AZ played. Friendly cart barn, pro shop and starter staff. Free water a plus. $65 on a Monday in December is a deal in AZ. Nice fairways and greens. In excellent shape. Lots of tee box options. Beautiful public course with a championship resort feel. Highly recommend if in Tuscon AZ

Normally this course is enjoyable and fun to play but not on this day! 1-We were not informed that it was cart path only; as it was 105 out, it was merciless with the lack of shade on the golf course! We would have gone somewhere else with more trees! 2-we were paired with a 3 some which made a 5 some making our exposure out there more hazardous!
The wait time between shots made it a heat related hazard for all of us!
By the end of our round, we were near a heatstroke! Thank God. I had plenty of water to stay hydrated! I will not play there again ever! π°

Our goal this summer was to play as many Tucson area courses as possible. El Conquistador is 10th! A lot of Tucson courses are so green and lush, friendly, and fun. Staff wouldnβt even say βHelloβ or smile on this day. Saw the cart girl once. Our cart had last roundβs trash. Price was high for course conditions. A positive, there was plenty of cold water on the course! If the course is working on re-seeding or maintenance, warning signs would be nice or lower price? The place was very busy so economically speaking, charge what the public will pay I guess.
Also, we intentionally stayed at the El Conquistador resort to play at a resort course and they werenβt connected at all.
My first lower than 4 star review.
We can play just as crappy on a beautiful course as any other.

My spouse and I had a great experience today. First time on the course. They had some major remodeling going on. Followed signs to where they had us check in the parking lot. The person there apologized for the construction and got us a cart immediately. I told my spouse to wait here and I'll go park the truck. The young gentleman said don't worry about it she can follow you out to the parking lot. Checked in with Bob the starter. What a great guy. He asked if we could start a tee time earlier to accommodate a late arrival in the previous foursome. We said no problem. Then he proceeded to give us some tips on the course which we're most helpful. We appreciated that he took his time to make us aware of the intricacies of the golf. Later he met us on the 7th Hole to discuss the impending thunderstorm. And let us know that were no sirens on the course. And it's up to our own discretion. We made it to the back nine. At about # 14 we had lightning within a few miles. We headed back to the pro shop along the cart path. We thought we really have to come back to play these other holes at another time. The only minor disappointment another day was that the greens were lightly sanded. But a very enjoyable day all in all. Definitely on my play again calendar!

3 stars is because of the excellent customer service we received when arriving to drop of clubs, Rider was fantastic and very upbeat. The course in my opinion is NOT worth the $ we paid. Very dry, lots of bare spots and greens were patchy with new sod on some holes. We had fun, the three guys that joined me were great to play with. Again, the course is WORN OUT. But Kudos to the staff, they were great. I will hold off going again for some time until I see review with better playing conditions.

Young Punks were hitting into us, first time I teeβd up the ball , second hit a tree right next to us, 3rd time we were on the green, so I grab the ball and threw into the front Bunker.
Then we were missing our range finder and it was not turned in.

Overall, I've been very happy playing this course for the last 3 years. I play in the Thursday night Summer Spark league.
This review is also to help management. Last week, on the Conquistador side, there was someone flying a drone right over an older women as she teed off. It was not accidental. They kept the drone over her head (around six to eight feet) for over a minute.
I believe it was on hole five but I'm not positive. Obviously, this would be something hard for management to control, but if everyone were made aware of it, perhaps the person (or kid) behind doing it might get caught (or deterred from every doing it again).

Great golf course. But we went for some practice and the range now costs $20 per person when it used to cost $10. There were no spots available to hit balls on the range, and no balls to hit once a stall opened. The course is also soo oversold that they ran out of golf carts and we were late getting on the teebox because of it. Just very poorly managed, and once they get your money they could care less about your experience.

Enjoyed late September golf. Got off early, about 7:00 to avoid the heat. Staff was very helpful and professional. The course was in good shape. Found a couple of soft spots with temporary water is all. We enjoy this course b/c it offers adequate challenge with beautiful views of the Catalinas. This was our second visit (we're from CO.) Will go back. $45 for 18 with a cart. Good deal.

Sooo disappointed in the overall conditions of this course! From the run down clubhouse to the unbelievable cart paths with potholes, no curbs and debris everywhere. Players clearly donβt give the course much respect either since no one repairs ball mark on the greens (literally no one!) maybe the old players donβt like to bend down? No ball washers or access to bathrooms (key on my cart didnβt work). My whole round I didnβt see one course staff vehicle or groundskeeper and the round was same price as other (better) courses. I wanted to love this since driving by it forever. Worst course Iβve seen in many years π

Very gracious tennis reception staff who politely told me I was not welcome to use my own ball machine though their machine really should be retired (broken oscillator) and perhaps donated. Petty, snobby facility whose clubby attitude only hurts tennis and doesn't merit patronage by anyone who loves the game. I will never be back, that's for sure.

Fantastic value for golf. Only reason I gave it four stars is the rather indifferent attitude of the people working there. We booked an early tee time and it was beautiful, played a solid pace and the rental clubs I used were 1st class. Highly recommended for the casual golfer. Spent three times as much at Dove Mountain the next day for a less enjoyable experience.

The course itself is beautiful. And when we got to play, it was a great time. There was a homeowner that was yelling at golfers about how they drive the cart. I didn't notice any issue. She yelled at us too, not sure what we did. We had a tee time according to the checkin desk at the shop, but once we got to the course, the guy there didn't have us down at all. We were added to another group 30 minutes later which was not ideal. The other group was great, just all in all not the plan.

It is always so well kept. I have been golfing there a few times over the year, and even the other day it was great. I have only been on the Canada course but I love it. It's huge, and some holes just have great views of that area of Oro Valley. The people who work here are great too.

Decent condition on the course but they overbook. We had a foursome that was paired behind a group of 7. No ranger on a Saturday is not good for pace of play. No ranger on a Saturday and took over 5 1/2 hours for a round that shouldnβt have been more than 4
