This is a true gym in every sense of the word "gym." Lots of equipment, great people, and legends go to this gym as well! I like how the members are friendly, but at the same time very serious about working out. They are not there to waste time and that's what I was getting very tired of at the other gyms. A legit bodybuilding and powerlifting gym, with everything needed to hit your goals. No absurd dress codes or rules about grunting - just hard core folks putting in the work. At the same time, the atmosphere is very welcoming; no need to feel intimidated here. I'm just a puny little natty, but I always come here when I'm in town for the vibes.

Always thought the worst part about this gym was how dirty it gets/stays. Been seeing some cleaners around which is great, but they have been getting in the way and using chemicals right next to where other people and I workout. Personally, I don’t enjoy breathing in chemicals while working out or hearing a loud vacuum going off right next to me at 7-8pm. They should come later when less people are here.

This gym isn’t like the rest, when you are here there’s no judgment at all. The staff are always so nice and helpful! Most of the group classes are free & have the best instructors! I cannot forget to mention the kids area keeps my kids wanting to come back everyday to “workout”. Fitness 1 is 100% worth the investment in yourself!

Ran across this gym about 7 months ago while looking for a home gym as I was unhappy with the gym I was at, that being said I’m no bodybuilder but have been a member of many gyms around town in my search for a home gym. I could not say enough good things about this gym. The staff is awesome (the owner actually knows members by name which says a lot about an owner to me) so many equipment options both free weights and machines and always in good working order. Gym is clean and kept up. (Another plus in my book) if you’re looking for a home gym this is it, you will not be disappointed. Shout out to Chad gym is top notch!

Best gym you could sign up at. Family owned and operated, everyone at this gym has goals and works hard, which only fuels inspiration and discipline.

Clean facilities, multiples of equipment throughout the gym and a room that has all of your powerlifting/strong man/olympic lifting necessities.

Daycare is amazing with caring staff members who remember your kids name and play with them. I'm a very anxious mom and the daycare at this gym was the first time I felt comfortable enough leaving my son.

They are constantly maintaining everything throughout the gym. When something is out of order, I rarely see the sign last for 24 hours. They are quick with repairs.

This is THE best gym in AZ. I come from California and it really gives the “Gold’s Gym” vibes which I love. Everyone here is serious about their fitness unlike some other places here in Arizona. The gym actually moved to a new location on the NW corner of Bell & 43rd Ave. Much larger facility but the same helpful atmosphere. People actually put weights away after use and the staff is always helpful! Rest assured, with as many BEASTS that inhabit this club, it's really accommodating for the mere mortals as well! Fitness 1 Gym is the gym for everyone who is looking to get back in shape or take it to the next level. I canceled my 2 gym membership (EOS and Planet Fitness), because Fitness 1 offers experience trainers for different training levels and goals. The equipment might be challenging to the new guy and the best part is all of the trainers are willing to give you suggestions to help you. The trainers do not pressure you to sign up for a package deal that I experienced during my time at EOS and Planet Fitness.

Weights and equipment are outdated. I was excited to have a new, family oriented gym in the neighborhood. Unfortunately the only thing new is who owns ASU's old equipment after their remodel.

I can see this gym being part of old school lifting. I get it, I don't like corporate gyms either. The equipment is bunched up at a dangerous distance.

I was in town visiting family and was glad to see they accepted Gympass.
This was the most hardcore gym I’ve been to but also one of the friendliest. Whatever the management is doing to promote a culture of gym rat and novice are all welcome is working.
They also let my son come to childcare with his Gympass account and they were so nice and welcoming of him.

I'm so glad I found this place--it's perfect for anyone looking to lift weights. The people are always friendly and supportive (both employees and members) and it's got a really diverse clientele. I've gone at 4am, 6pm, weekends, Friday nights--the vibe is always good no matter the time. I haven't seen any equipment monopolizers or creeps--just a bunch of other people there to workout, who know how to share the space, and who know how to unrack. Equipment is older but well maintained and the place is clean. Easily the best gym I've found in the valley.

I love this gym!!! Let me tell you why... EVERYONE (and I mean everyone) is so friendly there. The trainers especially (*cough* Maya Papaya and Tony). Even though they aren't getting paid by you, they still help any time that they notice your form is off and correct you. The owner, Chad, always says "good morning" to everyone he sees. The cute little front desk gal, Sophia...I think, is sweet as can be, very smart, and can answer all your questions. They have some of the best equipment I have ever seen and all of them work like new. To top it off, they have a handy vending machine with protein shakes that you can grab on your way out, along with super cute merch. It's not as clean or as fancy as the other gyms, but honestly... This is by far the best Gym experience I have had in the Valley. Family owned, local business that runs a great spot for anyone interested in almost any aspect of fitness. I will continue to go here as long as I live in Phoenix. They do classes, and have personal trainers you can select that run their own business through the gym. Well maintained, custom equipment, friendly staff, and clean environment! There are always two sides to every coin: a reward or a punishment. Covid-19 was nothing but challenging on many fronts, but, a reward of the pandemic is the closing of "big box" gyms I had previously sought out to maintain my physique at. On the verge of a mental breakdown "sheltering in place" alone, a friend recommended I check out Fitness1 Gym 35th and Union Hills. I met Chad and was given a tour of the facility. While it certainly isn't the largest facility, every square inch, is utilized to the benefit of US (the members). There are so many "cool" pieces of equipment that are older and you won't find in the new gym chains. While the equipment is older, you'd never know it by mechanical wear - each cable, resistance, and plate loaded machine well cared for. Lubricated, pads refaced, etc. The best part of the facility is the family there - if you are a stranger, well you won't be for long. You'll be accepted as part of our family; where judgments aren't passed, heavy lifting is encouraged, and results are complimented. If you read all this, what the hell are you waiting for? Go to Fitness1 Gym. See ya there.

A great gym with wonderful atmosphere. I've been impressed by the people, the equipment, and the classes -- this is seriously an amazing place. I highly suggest joining this Temple of Iron.

If I were to personify this gym, it wouldn't be unlike Dwayne Johnson. Results-oriented but welcoming. Beefy but friendly. Serious but fun. The equipment may be a bit more Rocky than the Rock, but trainers like Cara are equal part sophistication and motivation.

My boyfriend and I were visiting family in Glendale, AZ for the holidays came across Fitness 1 on google. The owner gave us a tour around the gym which made me feel comfortable knowing where everything was before I began my workout. It was very clean and organized. They have a lot of options from cardio, to weight lifting, and offer workout classes throughout the day. We would definitely get a membership if we lived nearby. We hope to see you again soon on our next trip!
