Clean, well maintained facility with free weights, well maintained equipment and thoughtful amenities. Better than any more expensive and more crowed facility of its type in Flagstaff, AZ

They want 15$ for a daily pass. Itβs only 4$ in Kansas. Yaβall here in Flagstaff are getting ripped off! Thatβs crazy.

I have been a member here for years. They just brought in all new equipment, and, like the previous equipment, it is top notch. Upper level has many windows to let in the light! Employees and Manager are friendly and helpful. I travel and it is great to work out at YMCAβs in different states. Flagstaff YMCA has Flagstaffβs Community energy.

I visited this fitness center for a week while I was on vacation. A brief summary is that itβs a very clean gym, they have an extremely friendly and energetic staff and it has all the equipment and machines you need and when I went, it was never busy enough where I couldnβt get what I needed (I went between 8am-12pm hours).
Specifically the gym has
- one barbell bench press
- one incline barbell bench press
- one shoulder press rack (where you can do squats)
- dbs go up to 100 (go up in 2.5lb increments until get to 30lb, where it goes up by 5lb)
- has a bunch of machines
- has bunch of cardio equipment
- has a foam roller
- has two sets of adjustable cable machines
- two bathrooms
- hand sanitizer and wipes placed around the gym

This is a wonderful facility and is is kept clean for all who work out or utilize the beautiful gymnasium. I would defiantly recommend this over any other facility in Flagstaff.

The YMCA in Flagstaff is wonderful for Seniors. The front desk employees are so nice. We have a tap dancing class for elder women called Flagstaff Dancin Grannies and the manager, John, always works well with our accommodations.

Replacing the flat and inclined bench press stands with squat racks with adjustable benches would provide three squat racks total (there is currently one) while maintaining the same functionality as before, thereby being a more efficient use of limited space.

*Scam, I singed up for 1 year then called to cancel when I thought a year had passed but I was several months past the date and they auto renewed my contract with out any notification of it. The reason I want to cancel is their hours are terrible they practically closed all winter long and are only open 3hr the whole weekend. The manager is never around and still haven't been able to cancel my membership.

Extremely friendly staff and very clean. I used the gym and locker room for a shower. Very much appreciate the treadmills (dreadmill) facing outside. No points lost for no pool considering thereβs the aquaplex and the college pool you can use for a guest pass near by. But I was really bummed out there there was no real squat rack or smith machine. Just a basic rack with less saftey features so not conducive to really pushing yourself or making things fit to your unique height.

While the gym could have more equipment, and the time it takes to repair broken equipment is a little long, this is still my favorite gym facility in Flagstaff. The staff are friendly, the community and youth programs are great, and you'll always feel like they are making the most of the money they are receiving. I'd happily continue supporting this Y over all the other facilities I've been to.

Somewhat unprofessional. Weird hours. Trainers/classes monopolize the best slaces/equipment even when "open." I would not recommend joining unless you have kids to utilize daycare.
Location and slow-paced vibe are the best qualities.

Decent place to work out.
I came to the YMCA, because it's closer to where I work and live and because it was a little cheaper than my other gym. I was going to cancel, because I missed having a good shower and steam room, but decided to stay for the convenience and access to the nice basketball court.
positives
+fairly extensive workout area. Good cardio equipment. Not the best selection of weights and machines, but plenty for me. Weight machines they do have are high end and fairly new.
+cheaper than Summit/FAC - not that much cheaper, but the extra $5 I saved was appreciated. I think getting a nice shower/hot tub with clean towels may be worth $5 to me personally, but if you dont use those amenities, it may save you money)
+basketball - great full basketball court. basketballs to borrow.
+climbing equipment, childcare, etc - it has a lot of options. I just havent tried as I'm only in for cardio, weights, and basketball
+rarely crowded.
+fairly good hours. Other than Sunday evenings, there isn't a time I really can't go in. If you want to go in Sunday evenings, I recommend FAC.
negatives
-staff is hit-or-miss. Some really friendly staff. Some that are annoyed to get off their phones to answer questions. Summit and FAC definitely have more friendly and helpful staff if that is important to you.
-no towels. You have to bring and launder your own if you shower there
-can be a little dingy/dirty at times or at least look that way
-lockerroom is tiny, dirty, and lacking in amenities. Showers are cramped. No steam room, sauna, or hot tub. If more than two people are in the locker room at one time, you will bump into others and feel like a sardine.
-bad wifi and entertainment. I don't need TVs on all the equipment nor good wifi to enjoy myself while working out, but if you do, it's worth noting. Hard to even stream Netflix on their wifi and the TVs built into the cardio machines have only a handful of fuzzy stations. Wifi is plenty good for music and podcast streaming. Wifi is a pain to join and makes you sign away your first born and then redirects you to a commercial advertisement.

I have been a member of the Flagstaff YMCA since 2013. This branch has a serious staffing issue. It is not uncommon to show up and the doors are locked during hours that it is supposed to be open (usually in the mornings) but has happened at night as well. This is very disappointing as I do like this gym, but if this keeps happening I will go find a more reliable one. Disappointing.

This is a nice facility. The staff is friendly and helpful. What I like the best is that they don't play any music on the sound system. If you wanna jam, you can rock your headphones, but if you don't, you're not subjected to whatever's on the radio.

The one of the best assets of the flag YMCA, is there management of the MEMs swimming pool on fouth street. It is Olympic size and great for lap swimming, perfect temp, very clean and well lite. VERY affordable to non member. Possibly the BEST kept secrets for swimming fitness in Flagstaff. Great work YMCA, please keep up the great work.

I'm disappointed today! I have been going to the YMCA for a while now. Today I go and the doors are locked. Business hours are 5 a.m. to 10 pm M- Th. No one was there. No employee. I missed my morning workout today. I like that they are open at 5 a.m. Well not today?!?!

I have been using the Flagstaff YMCA for over a month. Nice new facility. But the
bathroom/shower are GROSS.They have not been cleaned since befor I started using them.
And they are getting worse. Mold on all the shower curtains, Back Mold on walls in showers.Large glob ( 2inch in dia.) of hair on shower wall that has been there for over one week. ETC,
ETC.
So I went to the front desk to let him know what was up. Unfortunately he informed me that the person that could help with that had left for the weekend. He also told me I was not the
first person that had informed him about the filthy conditions of the bathroom and the YMCA
was looking for a outside source to clean the restrooms. REALLY.....
MY ADVICE DON'T GO INTO THE BATHROOM WITH OUT YOUR SHOES ON. IF YOU
NEED TO TAKE A SHOWER GO HOME AND DO IT UNTIL THIS PLACE IS CLEANED
UPPED.
Something to think about. If they can't even keep the bathrooms clean. When was the last time
that they sterilized the workout equipment.????

The free weight room is spartan meaning it has very few pieces of equipment, but definately enough to get a decent work out for those interested in training with free weights.
I stopped by to inquire about rates and was treated like a second class citizen for asking about college student rates. They do not have any...
If you would like to try the club out for a day beware that if you do not join afterwords they will charge you a fee for using the facilities for the day.
They were offering a zero initiation fee in January and I missed the deadline by a day and they wouldn't budge. Member ship is $41 per month which is at the top of the scale for gym memberships. What happened to the original mission of the YMCA.
Bottom line, this Y.M.C.A. has redefined the acronym from Young Man's Christian Association to Y.M.W.C.Y.Y.A. Your Memebership Will Costs You Your Ass.
