I attempted to get information on the phone about switching my child from our current gym to flames, the individual on the phone whom called herself the owner flat out told me my child was not good enough coming from our current gym to join flames. If that individual is the owner she is a joke herself and incompetent.

Worse experience at a professional gymnasium. Nikki, at the front desk is extremely rude and unprofessional. Gymnasium on Bell has very courteous and customer service oriented front desk employee. Bree coaching level one openly bad mouths other coaches and ignores her class while she practices hand stands off to the side. My advice is go to the Bell location. Further drive but worth it. Much cleaner as well

I was driving one day down 91st Ave and seen the big Flames Gymnastics. I looked them up and decided to give them a call to see what the prices were for my 8 year old daughter. I got a call back telling me the prices and they offer a free trial class. I gladly set her up for a Saturday class. I was not told that they have two Olive and 101 locations. So I went to the one I seen while driving on 91st Ave and Olive and was told I was at the wrong one. So I called the number back that called me for the free class. The lady was rude and told me that they have two Olive locations. I was not give the option to choose which Olive location I wanted to go to and was forced to go to the 92nd Ave and Olive location. I was little late due to the location confusion. When we walked in, we were not greated with great costumer service, the lady at the desk looked like she hates her life. She doesnt ecen have a smile on her face. She ruahed my daughter to go in there because they already took the class. My child was hesitant becauae like i said, this lady didnt even greet us with a smile and did not make us feel welcome at all! They took my daughter to her class and as I looked around I seen that we can't even see our children while they are in class very well. They force us to sit in these chairs in the lobby, which has the roof leaking into the lobby and they just have a trash can to catch the water right in the middle of where parents are forced to sit and watch them on camera that doesnt show the whole gym. With my child doing this for the very first time, I wanted to watch her. I tried to stand by the windows to watch her and video her because she wanted me to see and watch her. As i stood by the window, i seen a sign that said parents cannot stand by the stairs and will be askes to move but i was not anywhere near the stairs and there was no sign saying we cannot stand by the window. I was told by the rude front desk lady (that hates her job and can't seem to smile to the clients) that I had to move. My child seen that I wasnt by the window watching her and came running out to me. My child is a very shy child and this is something new she is trying out for the first time so she would like her parent to see her and her see her parent for that confidence boost and they do not allow it. It is a very horrible experience and they dont offer any type of support for shy/new kids. And then within the first 20 minutes of class, my child came out almost in tears because one of the other girls was making fun of her because she doesnt really know how to do this as it's her first time. The staff did not offer any support to fix this matter. Just told her to "ignore the not so kind words" and never spoke to the girl who said the not so kind words. This is experience has been very disappointing becauae my child would like to sign up for additional classes but with how had the experience has been i unfortunately have to let my child down and tell her we have to find another gym.

Whenever anyone asks about a gym recommendation, I’m quick to suggest Flames! Our experience has been wonderful over the last 5 years. I’ve seen so much growth in my daughter from year to year and the coaches truly care about the gymnasts. If you’re looking for a gym that will push your child, instill perseverance and dedication to the sport, and sprinkle some fun in along the way, look no further!!

This place is awesome, my daughter is in their kindergarten class and she loves it. She has progressed so much and the instructors are nothing short of amazing. You can tell they really care about their students and their development.

My child is enjoying the program, but please get a telephone for inside the facility, the communication is very hard. With scheduling, payment questions, etc.

At a Flames meet this weekend, I do have to say that the meet seemed to run smoothly and the girls were having fun. However, during awards, the names were read so quickly that the announcer was on 5th place and the 1st place winner barely had her medal around her neck! Girls were literally running to try to get on the podium quick enough to make the β€œsalute” picture, before the next round of girls were rattled off like a cattle auction. These young ladies work very hard and awards should be celebrated, not run through so quickly that it seems they are not important at all.

Staff is kind and instructors push your kiddos in a positive way. There are multiple locations and the prices are not too bad.

This place is for those that really would like to excel in gymnastics. Its awesome. However, they could use more seating for those of us that hang around for our kids. Otherwise, I love this place.

This is the gym that trains champions! I've taken my children here for over a decade, first with my son, now my daughter. Most of the coaches are State Champions, and they have and incredible attention to detail and teaching the basics right, so when a gymnast moves on they don't have to unlearn bad habits.
Their prices are the cheapest in the valley and you get the best value for what you spend! Highly recommended!
The only downside is this location does not have their Friday Night open gym anymore which my kids loved!
We still go to Open Gym at their Tolleson location Friday nights, but its far for us to drive.

I love the coaches here, they are firm but yet caring and kind with how they treat they kids. They sanitize the equipment after each class and we have yet to have or see a reason to not want our daughter to continue at Flames. Our daughter has grown to love gymnastics and loves going here.

My daughter transferred to Flames Gymnastics almost 2 years ago after attending Arrowhead Spinettes for 12 years. Spinettes was the only gym she had known since she was 2 years old. My daughter was 14 years old at the time and coming back from a broken thumb injury. Gymnastics is a tough sport even when you are in shape. Coming back from an injury is very frustrating. To add to the frustration of a injury comeback, she knew no one at Flames. My wife and I are parents who just wants their children to be involved in something extracurricular to learn about developing good work habits for life, build relationships, and how to handle failure on the way to success. For the first time in my daughters like, we hit a critical point as she wanted to quit gymnastics. My wife and I were at a point we had never been before as we didn't want to force our daughter to do gymnastics but were concerned because deep down we felt it could be something else as we thought she truly loved doing it. The best advice we ever listened to was Flames Gymnastics and to have stay in gymnastics until she got all the skills back that she had before her injury and then let her make the decision on whether to continue or not. Flames coaches and parents went out of there way to make her feel at home from the very first visit. Fast forward a little over 1.5 years and our daughter has developed new gymnastics skills and relationships faster than we could've imagined. Thanks Flames!

My granddaughter regrettably has to change gymnastics schools due to relocation. We were researching various schools in the area and we visited Flames in Peoria. We walked in and was never acknowledged. We stood at the counter for 7 minutes while staff was assisting a member, without a hello, i'll be with you in a moment, we are closing, nothing. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, we were obviously invisible to the staff. We took our own tour of the facility. After seeing the cramped facility and the dirty equipment, it became immediately obvious we needed to hightail in out of there and keep looking.

I am going to try and be as honest as I can in this review, the good, the bad, the ugly. My two daughters were on the competitive team here, off and on, for over 3 years. "The good" is that the owners and their daughters, who also coach, are truly good people and care very much about the gym and even more so about the kids. It is a very "family oriented" place and you can go in and talk about your concerns any time. It is also one of the least expensive programs in the area for competitive gymnastics. "The bad" is that the coaching is very one-sided. When the owner and coaches have put a label on a kid, nothing the kid can do during training will make a difference. They box them in early as "good" or "bad" early on and keep them there, in spite of meet scores or any evidence to the contrary. They put one of my daughters in a lower group and told a newly coming coach "that's the group who has no future in gymnastics, you can do what you want with them", whereas my other daughter was hand picked for a young privileged group in spite of her struggling to keep up just about every day. The coaching is very "harsh", they yell at the kids constantly and berate them a lot when they do not pick up skills quickly (which some kids actually thrive on, just mine don't, that's not our style). Crying after a fall or a bad meet score is not allowed, they are told to "suck it up" or they get pulled off the floor. They have a very, very high turnover ratio of coaches, mostly because the owner is headstrong and slightly on the crazy side (in a very good way) and sometimes difficult to get along with (but so am I so I never held that against her). Their coaches, with the exception of coach TB and the owner's daughers, who do actively participate, are very hands-off and many kids learn incorrect skills by rote memory. "The ugly" is that the facility is downright awful. Scary part of town, and the gym itself is very run down and in bad shape. Floor is a tripping hazard. Rec room is a mess and dingy in the back. Upstairs room has leak damage and moldy smell, no AC but just a giant fan in summer. Trophies are under inches of dust in spite of a bi-yearly cleaning. Unlike what the previous reviewer said (who is also treasurer of the booster club BTW, you do the math), this is not typical of a gym. I don't think this is the owner's fault per se because the building itself is in such bad shape and there is not much the landlord will do, but they ought to consider moving to attract a better clientele. We made the difficulty decision to leave because, in spite of the shortcomings, we felt like it was our "home gym". Going to a different gym was significantly more expensive but it has been a very good decision. That is not to say that we consider Flames a "bad gym" and we will always look fondly upon our years there, all the time and effort the owner and her daughters put into our family and the friendships our girls and our families have made (with the exception of certain competitive team moms, who, because they are neurotic and their husbands participate in the booster club, think they own the place and act like outright nut jobs). If you are considering a family run gym for competitive team, that doesn't have quite the glitz and glam of a more typical high end gym, and a lower cost and a caring environment, this is the place for you. For recreational gymnastics, I would go somewhere else, that is not their forte. Word to the wise: stay far away from their booster club. I have never seen a bigger bunch of crazies in one room at the same time !

Flames gymnastics, is a typical gym. I don't know what you consider dirty? But, Flames is no different from any other gym as far as cleaningness. As, far as I am concerned, Flames is cleaner than most gyms, for an older facility. I have been to several gyms out here and the one thing I can say is that Flames is very family oriented. The coaches, are great, as well. You will see coaches from other gyms yell and etc.. NOT AT FLAMES! You will see nothing but communication, and RESPECT!!!
