Ok. Long overdue review. I thought about what review I will give the entire time I was there. In hindsight I should have canceled my spa day and left when there were annoying cell phones rings and people on their cell phones in what should be a private and relaxing experience. Jarring cell alarms and rings going off is NOT an enjoyable experience I told the ladies I'm not going to complain if they can at least put their phones to silent. Instead they were extremely rude and snippy. And moved to the dressing area which is good because they were using their phones in the relaxation area. What's worse is they still have the extremely loose and moving wobbly railing into pool steps since the before the pandemic. Plus the spa hottub has a loose railing too. An Olympic athlete would easily have an accident or become injured.

I screamed and almost fell twice going in as railing is so loose. Guess they are waiting for a lawsuit to finally fix it.

And some lady manager from the spa was so rude. Instead of saying sorry about your poor experience and letting rude people be on their phones, came at ME. New owners take heed. Fix the super loose railing in the pool area and enforce no phones in the spa area, both EASY fixes. Even when I was in pool area people were talking on their cell phones. And this is supposed to be one of the high end gyms in the area?

Great club and environment. Julia is an organized and tough personal trainer. I'm grateful for her help. Janice has helped me with fascial stretching and is very knowledgable. I had a deeply disappointing experience when I tried to tour this gym. I was denied entry because I have a service dog, despite clearly explaining her role. The staff offered vague excuses, but it was clear they were either unaware of or chose to ignore ADA regulations, which protect the rights of individuals with service animals.

To make matters worse, I was told I needed an Arizona ID to even be considered for membership. When I questioned that, the staff member claimed it was written on their website. I checked—there’s absolutely no mention of such a requirement. That was simply untrue.

What’s even more frustrating is that their own website explicitly states that service dogs on a leash are allowed. And yet, I was still turned away. I felt lied to and excluded.

As someone who travels frequently for work, I’ve visited gyms across the country and have never experienced such a blatant disregard for inclusivity and basic rights. This was not only frustrating but truly disheartening. I hope they take this as a wake-up call to train their staff properly and bring their practices in line with the law.

Was in Scottsdale for 2 months for work, used the facility September and October. Was under the impression with my discussion with the salesman that I wouldn’t have to worry about cancelling because it was annotated the short term nature. Fast forward to now late march, was being charged the monthly fee this whole time, no sort of reimbursement or refund, manager who called me could care less about the situation. Came for the 1st time and they made me fill out lots of foster that didn't work on there computer after I called to say I was coming. Lady at the front desk did not care I was late for work. Service is really bad here. Front desk Lady claimed there was a manager but would not let me talk to the manager so I could pay $30 to come here. Went to LA fitness and it was $20 cheaper and super easy.

Besides being a fantastic gym, they have the BEST employees! I apparently left my phone in the locker room this morning, got home, "found" my phone at the gym & called to see if anyone could hear it ringing. Clara from the towel station ran around the ladies locker room several times listening for the phone, then finally found it & saved it for me until I could get back to pick it up. Thank you Clara! I signed up as a member, and was promised that the tennis director would help me find people to play with, but he NEVER once did, despite asking him a couple of times. So two years later I quit, and would never sign up again. They reneged on their promises.

Unfortunately, my husband and I thought that their service would be better. They charged us double for private personal training sessions and we asked for the list of dates because in my check in list the amounts do not match the PT sessions. They can cancel the same day but they are not clear about the charges. The women's jacuzzi at the spa is just a small pool with no power in the jets. The men's jacuzzi has been out of service for two years since we became members and it was the reason why my husband chose the place. It is a shame. They do not have much variety of classes. We went to hot yoga with my mother without experience. The woman was condescending and it was impossible to learn. The classes are not by level. I brought guests and they highlighted how unfriendly the people are in that place. The truth is that we do not feel comfortable or welcome. The person who designed the place did not know the disgusting smell of food that there is as if you were entering a deep fryer. Romina and Marie were kind but unfortunately we will not continue as members. They lied about dates and cancellations, I have the messages with the coach as proof.

McDowell Mtn location is the best. It is clean - the pools are pristine. The jacuzzi and steam rooms are excellent and well kept. The staff are energetic and positive. They accommodate and listen to clients.
Gainey Ranch Village has a pool and are working on getting the jacuzzi up and running, along with the cold bath. The cleaning staff are attentive and detail oriented. The restaurant personnel go out of their way to help. The Gainey Spa are exceptionally helpful and their facilities are superb. Dora is my hairstylist! She’s the best!

I came here for my bachelorette party, the massage and facial was awesome, but when it came time to get my hair done she didn't listen to how I wanted it, then got an attitude and said "I don't have time to spray this small section of hair with water and re blowdry it straight" (I have curly hair) because she had other clients, and she took a straightener to it and burned my left temple, left a mark. When I expressed I was unhappy with her at checkout, they just said sorry and didn't do anything else and I still had to pay for the service. However besides the horrible hair blow dry, they treated us very very well with our little gift baggies and mimosas.

Despite my attempts to resolve a billing issue, the manager was consistently rude and dismissive, discussing my personal business in front of others and trying to embarrass me. What a wonderful spa experience and I love that they give you full access to the entire club as well. Everything was truly top notch and I would highly recommend this spa to any of my friends. Cindy's facial was the highlight, but the message and body wrap were lovely as well. For a club of this caliber and size with multiple locations, I would like to see them remove the use of all Styrofoam, single use water bottles, and disposable cups by the bubblers in the gym to reduce their impact on the environment, but other than that this is truly a 5 star experience!

Customer service is terrible. I paid them for two and a half years and expected them to live up to their agreement and credit me sessions I didn’t use because of a shoulder injury. I have heard from them until my card rejected(online fraud) and that’s all they kneel eantung is a new card to keep charging me. Terrible experience with the spa. The anesthetician was late and finished 20 min early. I brought this up at front desk and was told that now facials are 45 min. as they underwent new pricing, etc. I politely waited for her to finish and pointed out that behind her, the new pricing sheet lists 60min. No comment…
Other things that then piled up where the anesthetician’s hand were shaky, which was especially frightening when micoblading my face with a scalpel. And not just a little shaky, but tremors. During one of the masks she did her dishes and cleaned up, which is not very relaxing to listen to. She had 20 min to do this after my treatment apparently. There was a 30 second neck massage and that was all.

Overall, it seemed that the anesthetician was lazy and quality of service was really poor. I bring this up to shed light so others can have a better experience. I had a different service scheduled for the following week but canceled. I didn’t feel that front desk took my concerns seriously.

Gainey Village is not your typical gym. What I like the most is the quality of their instructors and the many classes that are offered. Their Village Hot Yoga is one of the best i've seen anywhere! The facility is also very clean and well maintained. I love the activities we do like Bourbon tasting, all day Rosé, Happy hour, Pickleball, Hiking, and Women's events. If you are looking for ways to get in shape, have lots of fun, make new friends, or in town for business, this is the RIGHT spot to be!

Just had a tour today and the facility is quiet impressive. Great design, cleanliness, form and function. Very spacious with several options for fitness equipment, studio rooms for personal or class use, both regular, hot and aerial yoga, Pilates (reformer + mat), spa, sauna, hot tub, steam room, salon, shop, cafe… and the basketball court, track, racket ball court area is stunning. Let alone the outside lap pool and tanning area. Truly a home away from home and a great place to meet new likeminded (healthy and well balanced) people. They’ve got social events and activities available to make a true community out of it. How do people get bored, there’s so much to discover out there!

I was in town for a week during the holidays and staying at the Hyatt across the street. My teenage son and I needed a better gym than what was offered at the resort. We toured Gainey Village Health Club & Spa and were very impressed. The equipment, classes, and level of service were by far the best we have ever received. Anthony was kind enough to offer us a day pass. He was very knowledgable and courteous. My son and I had the best workout of our lives and we look forward to returning to Scottsdale. Great facility & very well maintained. Men's locker room is extremely clean & is professionally attended to at almost all times. Towels are plentiful, and all amenities (razors, lotions, etc...) are always well stocked. As a swimmer, both pools are in outstanding shape & quite temperature friendly. I spent the day at the spa with my friend. The Spa staff were extremely attentive the entire day. The spa was beautiful especially the mineral pool area. The jacuzzi was worn and had a strange green/yellow color. It was kind of a turn off. I felt that the jacuzzi needs upgrade and remodeling desperately. Both our massages were outstanding. The spa was well maintained in the bathroom and shower areas.

Nice staff, cool gym, extreme amount of free classes, good pool for laps, wallball courts, moderate amount of weights and machines, can be crowded sometimes, basketballs sometimes fly into treadmill area downstairs, no biggie though, staff constantly will pick up after others which gives a feeling of cleanliness, lockerrooms have a sauna, hot tub, cold bath, showers with shampoo conditioner bodywash, shavers combs deoerant etc, even a tv and couch near entrance. There is a little lobby after checkin with a small kitchen where you can buy food and drinks, with a few tables couches and tv, a free coffee machine with creamer etc.
They also sell small amount of clothes and shoes by checkin but they aren't too special and a bit pricey. Running shoes look nice though. I pay $160 a month, some people pay less, they'll honor your memebership price at time of purchase for life as long as you keep it. I think it's worth it if you can afford it.

I called and asked for a day pass cost. They said $20 over the phone.

I arrived and they wanted $35. I asked for clarity and they said $20 is only for guests w a member. They couldn’t have said this over the phone?

Gainey Village Health Club is not just a health club. It is not a spa, country club or member club.
Gainey Village Health Club is truly a lifestyle. Trying to explain this to friends and business associates is always a bit tough. It is a bit like Church, you really don't know your feelings unless you are sitting in the pew and hearing the sermon right?
I was a member of GVHC back in 2010 I candidly left when dealing with some personal and professional challenges. Candidly, although I needed to save the money it was tough to walk away from.
This spring I made a conscious decision on what I wanted the next twenty years of my life to look like. Back in the sports/entertainment agency space and having my children grown including my daughter getting married, I wanted to return to a place that I call "my little slice of Heaven on earth".
What makes Gainey Village Health Club so amazing is the people. The members all seem to care about each other and I love starting or ending my day chatting with "my locker mates". The staff is more than friendly, they treat you like family. What you have at Gainey Village is truly special!
I've been too many other upscale health clubs around the US and some globally. Nothing compares.

I have been here many times and I love it, but
do NOT make reservations on the same day. They will not inform the pedicurists that you were added to the schedule. and will make you wait 40 minutes because the pedicurists didn't know you were there. Once you check in they dont inform the pedicurists that you even arrived and are waiting. Then you will be rushed through because there is another appointment after yours. Also my nails were chipped before I even left the building.
