Photos of my experience at GEMT from August to October. I came in not knowing how to throw a punch and without prior combat sports experience whatsoever. I work at my desk all day and I was not taking care of my self physically, mentally and emotionally at all. I was complacent, burnt out and sad that I needed a new challenge to spark life into me again. I weighed 206 lbs upon entry and got down to 192 lbs in 2 months by eating less than I normally do and tried my best to show up 5 days per week (back to back beginner classes daily). So if you're reading this and thinking about it, I say shove yourself in the gym and just do it. Don't think too much. That strategy worked for me as an overthinker.

Now as far as learning Muay Thai, you'll have the privilege of working with Damien as a beginner. I like his style of teaching. It's very calm but direct. The easy part is the learning. The hard part is staying consistent with attendance, your diet and maintaining fitness outside of Golden Era. He's a pro. You'll be in great hands.

Intermediate folks work with Master Bob. A legend and pioneer in the Muay Thai community. El Jefe is kinda mean looking but he's cool. He just wants you to do your best and improve because he cares.

Advanced students work with Nick (who also teaches the boxing class). He's a stud also and a well seasoned fighter. Both he and his brother Damien are masters of their craft and very down to earth and respectful gentlemen. For experienced dudes, show him what you got. Sparring looks pretty cool in his class.

All in all, this was a really positive and life changing experience for me. I'll continue to recommend GEMT as I progress in this newfound passion for Muay Thai.

"Oowee!"

The one star is a stretch. If I could give zero stars I would. I called to cancel my membership on the 24th of August and was hung up on. I called on August 27th again explaining that I moved out of state and that I needed to cancel. I was told it was canceled and no further action was necessary. Two months later I get a call saying I owe fees for September and October. I messaged Bob who was abrasive and unprofessional and I offered to show him my call logs of me calling to cancel the membership and explained I sent in the request in writing as well. He was very rude and disrespectful basically calling me a liar. I have moved more than 25 miles away as I now reside in Texas and haven’t been to the gym. They won’t allow me to cancel the membership. I highly recommend you AVOID this establishment at all costs as they won’t allow you to cancel. They are rude and disrespectful when trying to cancel. Apparently, as listed in the reviews, there are several others who have had this same experience trying to cancel. My mistake was not reading the reviews before joining. I hope this will save someone from having the opportunity of being taken advantage of as this business has a history of not honoring cancellations. Jack Ritter

A very good gym to train at, the coaches are very dedicated and knowledgeable, they have a great group of people there, by far the best gym jn Scottsdale, if not maybe in the Phoenix area.

Life changing. The coaches, mentors, and friends I've made here are absolutely incredible. My mind was in a dark place mentally for years, but that's all changed now. In a few months, I will have been training at this gym for 1 year and I don't regret a second of it. I owe Master Bob, coaches Nick & Damien, and my fellow students a lot. I've got a long way to go, but every back breaking workout has me coming back a little bit stronger and happier. If you want to turn your life around for real, sign up here.

Best Muay Thai gym in Phoenix. I’ve been training on and off for about 5 years and this is a top tier gym. Equipment is nicely kept and the space is excellent size. Nick the coach was really helpful and provided a good mixture of working on the basics, more advanced moves and some technical sparring. They have people of all levels here and the price point is great for the value it provides. Will be going back.

Golden era is a golden GEM. I started training in martial arts at 15 years old. Over the years I have traveled and trained at many gyms, with other coaches. None could ever come close to competing with the knowledge, the conditioning, and the quality of this gym. I have only been training at Golden Era for less than 5 months. My cardio, conditioning, mental health, and endurance has drastically improved. Not to mention, this gym is safe and FULL of great people. The coaches all have a high caliber of experience & skill, significant attention to detail, and will push you beyond what you think you are capable of. You are guaranteed to get the best training here.
As a female, it’s important to attend a gym that has your best interest and respects you. This gym does. There are also many other women who are friendly, supportive, and fun to train with.
I am blessed to be apart of the Golden Era Family.

Golden Era Muay Thai has single handedly changed the entire projectory of my life. Three years ago, I walked into Golden Era Muay Thai with absolutely no clue about what I was getting into. I had never done a martial art before in my life. I was a 19 year old girl with no sense of direction in life and a knack for getting in trouble. After the first lesson, Master Bob, an icon in the Muay Thai community, who also happens to be the coach/owner, told me that he was going to make me a killer. Three years later, I am 9-0 and a 5x champion. Soon to be 6. I would not be who I am today without Golden Era. I am physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually transformed. Master Bob and coaches Damien Earley and Nick Chasteen have all believed in me, even when I didn’t believe in myself. They will push you to be the greatest version of yourself and encourage you and patiently teach you as you embark on your Muay Thai journey. The community here is like family. This place can feel like home if you embrace it. Muay Thai itself is absolutely incredible and has the capacity to change your life is you commit yourself to learning the art and go after it. Golden Era Muay Thai is something special, that’s for sure!

A disastrous experience... My experience with Golden Era Muay Thai Gym has been nothing short of a nightmare. What should have been an exciting journey into the world of Muay Thai and fitness turned into a financial and ethical disaster as the gym fraudulently charged me for five months, totaling over $750 in unauthorized charges. This establishment's actions were not only unethical but particularly despicable given the circumstances.

The trouble began when I decided to cancel my membership with Golden Era Muay Thai. I filled out the required cancellation paperwork as instructed by the gym staff, right in the midst of a class with approximately 10 other students. I believed that this would be the end of my association with the gym as I had plans to travel to Thailand for an authentic Muay Thai experience.

To my shock and disbelief, each month, unauthorized charges from Golden Era Muay Thai continued to appear on my bank statement. What made this situation even more infuriating was that these charges were manually processed by the gym, indicating a deliberate effort to defraud me. What's worse is that the gym was well aware of my departure for Thailand and even advised me on where to go upon my arrival. Their actions in continuing to charge me are nothing short of despicable.

In an effort to resolve this issue, I reached out to their customer service, only to be met with disappointment after disappointment. Their representatives either feigned ignorance or made empty promises about resolving the situation. To add insult to injury, I had voicemails confirming the cancellation of my membership, which further highlighted the gym's unscrupulous practices.

This entire ordeal has caused me immense stress and financial loss. The lack of integrity and accountability displayed by Golden Era Muay Thai Gym is deeply disheartening and should serve as a warning to anyone considering a membership. This gym's actions are a disgrace to the Muay Thai community, which is meant to uphold values of respect and honor.

I strongly advise anyone contemplating a membership at Golden Era Muay Thai Gym to think twice. My experience with this gym has been a cautionary tale of financial exploitation and terrible customer service. It is deeply disappointing to see a gym associated with a sport as noble as Muay Thai engage in such unethical practices. Steer clear of this establishment at all costs.

WARNING to everyone that cares about their money. First off, read the bad reviews.. they are consistent. Bob is extremely rude! Good reviews are from employees!!! Wow! The owner even wrote some! Lol.. They will NOT let you have a membership unless you literally write your banking account and routing and/or full credit card information on paper!! Seriously, Golden Era.. more like Golden Ages! What a major security risk! They said its has to be on paper for their "files".. on what planet is this even done anymore! Then they said they put it in the "system" later.. lol. I was like ok. Put it in the system directly but im not putting my financial info on paper for it to be exposed to anyone. What a joke!

Do NOT expose your financial information to these people! What a buch of craziness

The trainers have a clear understanding of student development and are committed to teaching the art of Muay Thai. I’m a mental health counselor and teacher, so I’ve paid close attention to how members are treated and taught. The training goes beyond just fitness, providing valuable lessons around self-discipline, commitment, and community. Other members will treat you like family and genuinely care about your development. The owners take pride in their gym, cleaning the gym nightly and providing high quality bags/pads. I was in pretty good physical condition coming into this gym with experience in strength training, but was quickly humbled by the intensity of the training (I’m typically burning between 1200-1500 calories per class). Those who maintain often see significant transformations. If you’re considering Muay Thai, look no further - this is the place to be.

If you want to be held accountable and get what you want out of Muay Thai, come here. If you want people to not hold you accountable, and not improve yourself, then maybe look elsewhere.

If you want top training in the USA, you go here and do your best to be coachable and follow their guidelines/rules for being a student.

I have never loved a gym more in my life. I have been going to Golden Era Muay Thai for about 10 months now, and I love it. I’ve never known a gym to be so welcoming and friendly. The training is absolutely amazing. I have learned so much from all of the coaches. Just now, I am getting ready to test for the advanced, but I am confident because of their teaching skills. Best gym ever. Just one big family. Stay golden.

Master Bob is old school legit. He was very influential in Muay Thai coming to AZ since the 80s and 90s. Nick and Damien have been in martial arts since they were knee high and know their way around the gym and ring very well. They have trained Muay Thai for a long time and have proven records to show it.

Golden Era is worth the time, the extra effort, and cost for having the privilege to train with a world-class trainers. You won't be sorry! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

Have been taking classes at Golden Era for about a month and a half now and have really fallen in love with it. The coaches Damian, Bob and Nick are excellent and I’ve become friends with a lot of the students as well.

Whether you are looking for a good workout, or you are looking to fight competitively, this gym can help you. It’s expected that you listen when being instructed and give 100% of your effort. This really isn’t too much to ask for if you’re serious about your goals.

If you’re committed, you want to better yourself, and you’re looking for a place to learn real traditional Muay Thai, this is your spot.

The owner (Bob) is a thief. Was promised my membership would be cancelled , and was never cancelled instead he lied and said he never said that and kept charging me. I thought Martial arts is all about integrity and the owner has absolutely 0 integrity, and is not a man of his word. Unless you like your money stolen from you I would never go to this gym. There’s a reason all these reviews are by employees themselves, because this place is ran by a bunch of lying thieves. His name shouldn’t be master bob it should be master thief.

I've been training with these coaches for over 4 years, and there is good reason for that. This is not OrangeTheory, this is not Zumba or jazzercise. This is old school boxing gym vibes, and you are treated with respect when respect is given. I show up on time to learn and get my *ss kicked not kissed, and train with pro fighters. This is a place to belong. If you can't handle the customer service, you probably can't handle a punch lol. The people at this gym become family.

First off, just look at the most recent comments (one by Koop Bills), you can see its employees writing them. They pad their reviews and thats gross.. Couldn't get the pricing without allowing them to text me, I didn't want a bunch of texts so I asked in email to get the prices to which I was met by "Master Bob @AOL.com" (first flag: I don't trust a business who still uses AOL) with agitation and just providing me the same link to the contact us page that I even sent the message through to begin with. Maybe if they actually posted their prices on their site instead of forcing you to talk to them in text it would have made more sense. To top it off he was just rude in general when I had to repeat my questions that aren't even on the site and he begrudgingly admitted yet never treated me with decency. There's far too many places in the valley to go to- I wouldn't settle for this place unless you're into being treated like that.

Great gym with a great set of coaches. During this covid-19 pandemic, the gym has also established some very safe protocols in efforts to ease it's members fears.

Best part about this gym is that no experience is required! I started a few months back with no knowledge of thai boxing or any sort of martial arts at all. The coaches helped give me an individualized plan that fit my strengths and goals. Would highly highly recommend.
