I was skeptical due to the negative reviews but as I came in I was greeted with a warm welcome from the staff and a smile. As I was working out there was a cleaner walking around there's lightly cleaning up and actually had a great conversation. The atmosphere is amazing it has not been too busy and really quiet. All the equipment is clean and put away. The bathrooms are stocked and clean. And has always it's a signature gym so it has everything you need. I highly recommend checking this out for yourself Don't take my word for it it's an amazing place.

Speakers blast horrible iterative pop music outside the front entrance. Loud enough to drown out regular conversation with someone as you're coming or going. Silence would be so much better. Would love to know what the purpose of having those outdoor speakers even is.

Sometimes, they allow 3rd parties to hang around the entrance (or inside even) and solicit gym members to buy whatever it is they're selling. For most people, going to the gym is a personal endeavor, and we focus on ourselves and our bodies. Nothing like some advertisement and solicitation when you're trying to focus on your workout or clear your mind for yoga.

They stick ads with QR codes on every single cardio machine. Obviously, they get a kickback from getting people to install 3rd party apps on their phones for more data harvesting and re-selling.

Parking lot is poorly designed. The entrance from Higley Road is ripe for collisions.

Allie is very rude and open about hating the members, very immature and throws little kid fits when she doesn't get her way because she is very entitled but can't be kind or do her job correctly. She can't keep any type of staff due to her attitude issues and thinking she can speak to people anyway she wants. Upper management doesn't care and won't until the location is closed which by the comments from staff not even being there at 5 am seems like it'll be coming at some point. They should probably get a manager that actually wants to be there over one that hates her own life so she takes it out on others. She gets no respect even from her own staff because she doesn't give respect out. She made the swimming school leave due to how rude she is and plenty of members have openly called her out her name due to the disrespect she gives out. An older gentleman signed up and asked for help getting his barcode to sign in the app and she cussed him out over it. Just fire Allie, and i'm sure the club would improve dramatically just from that improvement of no longer having an angry unhappy person around. Maybe just maybe the people will start to show up on time. How many 5 am openers has she had in the past year and not one has lasted more than 2 months around her.... I don't think she could last more than 2 months around herself if she wasn't stuck with herself. Do better LA

I've been going to La Fitness for years. The manager Alie here refused to let me check in with my phone number. Under my phone number in the system is my picture. She wanted me to bring my ID in from my car to check me in to see the pic of my face! I don't want to delete other things on my phone to download the app or lose my ID in the gym. I go to this one for a specific Zumba Class. Hopefully the district manager can have a talk with their manager.

Getting better. Just lazy members not re- racking weights, dumbells, etc.

wish i could give 0 stars. I asked to try the gym out for 3 months & waive sign up & annual fee. I was told YES by the GM who apparently just likes to lie. I was told I didn't need the agreement in writing. They just gave me the generic sign up agreement to sign & said it was mostly for safety. After the first two weeks I was charged the annual fee. I met with the GM & an acting GM THREE SEPERATE TIMES to dispute. Each time I was told the fee would get refunded & it never did. I disputed it with the credit card company & LA Fitness sent the credit card company the original agreement which I signed WHICH I WAS TOLD was for safety. A blatent lie. I got so fed up with trying to resolve the lying that I didn't even stay three months. I cancelled after a month. Horrible experience & I hope the place burns down.

Absolutely have been enjoying my time at this location. Fantastic group fitness instructors with a variety of formats. Personally hooked on Zumba and the way have multiple classes to offer. Also have been working with Jordan and Luke with personal training. They are very knowledgeable and work around my Injury. I’ve definitely have gotten the best work out with the entire crew! Let’s not forget the kids klub!!! The littles love coming here and I get to keep my sanity a little longer

I’ve been going to this LA Fitness consistently for over three years. The front desk has always been rude, disorganized, and constantly rotating staff. You never see the same employee for more than two months, and today they showed exactly why.

A new employee I’d never seen before decided to power trip and kick me out over a policy they’ve never enforced in all my years going. When I calmly questioned it, he cussed at me, belittled me, and treated me with complete disrespect in front of everyone. Another gym member even tried to bring me in using his guest pass, but the employee still refused — purely out of ego and spite.

This gym is a scam. They make it intentionally hard to cancel, they keep charging you no matter what, and the entire culture is broken from the top down. They’ll take your money, but they won’t stand behind their service. The way they treat loyal, paying customers is disgusting.

I also noticed something else: they don’t even respond to one-star reviews. I went through them — they leave those unanswered and only reply to five-star reviews to protect their image. They’re in the business of people, but they don’t care about people.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they ignore this review too. And if they do respond, it’ll probably only be because I’m calling them out right now.

Think twice before signing up. This gym is already collapsing from the inside — and it’s exactly what they deserve.

Beautiful gym with cheerful class instructors. Staff that worked over the weekend had a rough time assisting in undreezing our account and explaining the charges. On Tuesday, Jeremy and The Operational Manager, Ali E., were sitting at the front desk and Jeremy was patient and willing to assist by answerin my questions and fight with the printer to print out a contract and charges. All the while, Ali avoided eye contact and ignored my questions. She did interrupt and blurt out in a snapping fashion that some of the charges were "late fees," but Jeremy explained that they could not provide proof of what each charge was.

I called corporate for assistance and Jarod was able to assist after Betty had a difficult time processing more than one piece of information at a time. The few staff that they have most are willing to help and friendly. But the Ops Manager, Ali E., was not helpful, didn't listen, explain rationales, or attempt to assist in problem solving. She did her robotic duty that receptionists did in previous years as a greeter and answered a few of the primary phone calls.

Just watched a video where a guy at this location got his membership revoked and then arrested for trespassing because he was wearing a shirt that read "Isreal Kills Children". The gym canceled his membership, minutes later arrested for free speech and apparently trespassing. Now was the shirt offensive to others? Sure, but the manager and company could have gone about this a different way. I was going to join the new one being built off of Ocotillo, but not anymore. Not OK!

The people at this location are very nice, however the place itself is gross for it being a “signature club”. The stair master machines and treadmills cupholders are always filled with garbage and used tissues/wipes, there’s dust and hairballs everywhere, the bathroom sinks are usually filled with hair and dirt, 50% chance the bathroom is also out of soap. A lot of the machines are out of service all the time.

ADDING ON: the bathrooms haven’t been cleaned in what looks like weeks, same stains on counters/toilets and trash all over the floor, kinda silly when the staff up front is usually sitting on their phones when they could be making the place look nicer

Manager is terrible and you could tell by the way this place is managed. Typically a mess and has high turnover. I would’ve gave this place 1 star if solely for the manager Allie and the cleanliness but I want to make sure I give some credit to the rest of the staff. Overall, they are the sweetest group of people. Unfortunately, they don’t stick around for very long. Also, I have to give credit to the vibe of the gym (when management isn’t around). Usually a chill vibe with loyal members.

Upper management should take a deeper look into their leaders. But even just reviewing these google reviews I could tell they barely care. The theme seems to be no response to the many negative comments about this place and an acknowledgment to the few good ones.

Simply put, DO BETTER LA FITNESS! You are in the business of people. Get a people’s leader in this gym and please maintain the gym and the equipment. You’ve got a great location, good staff that just needs a little motivation (attitude reflects leadership) and great members. We just want it to feel a little more like home here.

Unfortunately, despite my request, nobody at this location is making the swimming pool clean and ready to swim laps, the hygiene and the maintenance of that pool is pitiful. The jets are not operational most of the time and the water is murky and disgusting. Most people just walk in the pool, however, they should be aware that I also saw a dirty underwear once, yes, inside the pool. This is not a joke. LAFitness, time to put those $65.00 dollars a year you collect, allegedly and in writing, for "equipment and facility " maintenance. Do not treat members like idiots , please.

I have been a member of LA Fitness for over 15 years. I workout in four other La Fitness locations in the Gilbert/Mesa area but not the Higley location. If you are looking to Signup for a membership for just this location beware the Sauna has not worked at all for several years. The employees are told to say that it will be repaired/retro fitted to a steam room soon. I just called today and they told me its still not working. Stop the charade and just turn the sauna into a janitors closet or something if your not going to repair it. Doesn't their Corporate Office do inspections/audits? FIX THE SAUNA.. FIX THE SAUNA... This is by far the closest location to my house and I drive down Higley right past it to workout at other LA Fitness locations.. Ten minutes from now I will be on the way to workout at the Greenfield location and I will be driving right past the Higley La Fitness. I suggest you do the same.

I’ve been the LA since 2013 and I have been it at its best in the very beginning; however, over the year it’s declined with services and equipments. Equipments need to be served all the time , seats need to be replaced, should have some newer equipments. The cleaner in the morning is amazing, she’s always so friendly and keeps the gym immaculate. I can’t say that about the night or weekend crew, they don’t clean and just walk around or just talk to the front desk crew. The gym could do better. Honestly one of the worst gyms I've ever been a member of. The amenities at this place are broken 11 months a year. The sauna has been broken for what has to be a year now. Anytime you ask anyone about it, nobody has a clue.

Whenever I inquire about the status of everything being broken I get a rude response. I reached out to corporate and they offered to cancel my membership.

I have been a member of this facility for three years, initially drawn by the promise of the 'Signature' experience. However, I have found it to be far from premium. The services and amenities do not justify the current membership fees, which I believe should not exceed $19 per month.
Furthermore, the gym equipment is frequently out of order for extended periods, sometimes weeks at a time. The sauna has been inoperable for over a year. Basic necessities like hand soap are often unavailable.
I believe this facility has the potential to be exceptional, but it is currently being poorly managed. I urge the leadership to recognize this and take steps to improve the situation for the sake of the community.

Been going to this facility for three years.
I signed up because of the “Signature” and it’s anything but that. There is nothing premium or above and beyond. Not worth more than $19/mth.
Equipment is consistently broken for days-weeks. Sauna has been down over a year. Soap to wash hands is empty more often than full.
Hope someone in leadership realizes the JV team is running this place and it has potential to be amazing, but run poorly. For the sake of the community I hope this place improves.

As a visitor here for a few weeks it does surprise me that this club has got quite a lot of negative reviews, as at least from what I have experienced with the staff and used as far as equipment goes i.e Treadmill, Bikes, Weights and Pool I have no complaints at all......It is a little cramped at times when it gets busy but not much can be done about that. Overall - good experience for me.

I love this gym they have everything I need from free weights to weighted machines this is the perfect gym for everyone and this staff is so nice the manager is Alie she helped me get my Mobile app set up and does a great job keeping this gym clean and sanitized Carlos set me up with my membership he did an amazing job customizing the membership for me, and I sat down with Jordan he set me up with a plan in the gym very knowledgeable.

Facility is good but bad customer svc is why rating low. Alie (mgr) lacks customer svc skills, & I am not the 1st to state this as there are many complaints here referencing her rudeness.
It’s surprising she is still employed there. Corporate should realize it’s not in their best interest to have her in a position where she upsets customers & prompts them to seek other gyms. I am a long time LAF member & contemplating the move.

I've been frequenting here for a year and a half. I like the machines and weights. They have plenty of dumbells and cardio. My complaint is that they don't have enough of the machines in the machine circuit section, and some patrons really have no awareness of people waiting for the machines. I mean, not just a 10 15 minute wait sometimes 30 minutes, and there is only one machine. I don't normally complain, but one time I did, and the staff was no help. I see that a competitor is opening a gym close, and I will likely leave this gym at that time.

I am currently in my recovery stage from and illness and transitioning from PT to the gym. Quoc was amazing and extremely knowledgeable when it comes to recovery (Jordan too!). Quoc helped me find a plan that fit my needs and routine.

10/10, would recommend to speak with Quoc when coming to this location!

Also this gym is a breath air if you have sensory needs — it’s never over lit/too bright and the music is just loud enough without making your ears ring. Equipment overall seemingly well maintained and plentiful in the afternoon.

This is my favorite la fitness club recently and trust me I’ve been to a lot. The manager ali is the sweetest always welcomes me with a huge smile and asks about my day. I love how clean the club is especially the bathrooms and how wipes are available unlike at many other clubs I’ve visited.

Alie stands out as one of the most unprofessional and rude individuals I’ve encountered. Her behavior creates a hostile atmosphere at the gym, And she lacks the temperament required for her leadership role. A quick look at other review shows that this isn’t an isolated incident - Her rudeness and incompetence appears to be an ongoing issue. I understand she may be uncomfortable, bending the rules, as her team has done for us before, rudeness is not the way to encourage someone to add a guest to their account. In sales, Treating loyal customers with respect should be a priority. With a new gym opening nearby, It’s clearly time for LA Fitness to reevaluate its leadership team.

The manager ALLY has a next level attitude. She was very disrespectful and rude during 2 separate interactions (on separate days as well). We had issues visiting multiple locations due to their merge with esporta. No issue there, I was very understanding. She started yesterday telling me I only had access to one location when I was told otherwise at a different location. Conflicting so I wanted an answer and all I got was you can pay more…

Of course it’s always about the sales commissions… right guys? So, she lets me work out one day. The next day (today) I went to the Greenfield / 202 location (old Esporta) in person to get this fixed myself as ALLY provided no help. Got a new key card and the Greenfield location managers helped me quickly. Their staff is AMAZING!

Show up today and she snaps at me and tells me my keycard isn’t valid. And I don’t have an account that I can go to this location, etc. Then when I ask her to call the other location to help solve this as I was JUST THERE… she says no. And then says she’s just trying to help lol. But once again I can workout here only today or it’s going to be an issue.

I’ve never felt more disrespected in my life. I asked her to get someone else and please check her attitude as I was disrespected again and again by her. Honestly this behavior should alert corporate management. ALLY, I say this as respectfully as possible. I think it’s time to move on and find a new job. The gym manager thing isn’t working out. I’m not the only one on here saying things about your behavior. It should be addressed!

To keep it brief a couple days ago, the manager ALLI had told us that We had an issue with one of our accounts, but the following day (Today) We got it resolved and was told by another location that we wouldn’t have any issues. I had noticed the day before that ALLI Was very condescending and rude (she was nice in a rude way). Today we were greeted with the same response and then she suggested an attitude check. The entire interaction she was Rude and degrading suggesting that there was still an issue with the account although we had confirmation that it had been fixed. We asked her to call the other club to which she replied NO several times. Over the last couple days, we were not provided any answers as to why this club had a higher membership cost compared to others, or how we could resolve the issue. Mind you we had had zero issues up to this point and we started coming here about two weeks ago. This is a very nice gym and the staff is wonderful so it makes me disappointed to say that we among others have had poor experiences with the manager ALLI.

New member - got the physical assessment and recommendations. The head guy in charge of selling personal training is dangerous. Besides telling me that the gym’s equipment was useless for me and that the only thing that would be effective would be weight training and squats and lunges, he told me that I was overweight, I am not. He told me my body fat percentage was 36. It’s 27.5 per my physician, I just felt like I was beat up, and then told that the only solution was for me to sign up for personal trading to the tune of over $700 . He then proceeded to show me walking lunges and had me do four sets of 12 which injured me severely and took days to recover from. The guy doesn’t give a darn about anybody. He’s only trying to meet his quotas and sell you training. I do not recommend anyone ever use their assessment services or recommendations.

I enjoy LA Fitness in Gilbert and the selection of machines and training areas. Only one thing I would suggest is to keep it cleaner, especially the floors and areas under and around machines. Spots, dust bunnies, hair of all sorts… sanitation should be a priority.

Advantages:
Equipment and amenities allow for many different types of activities/workouts.
This gym seems to be kept at a much cooler temperature than others.
Relative to other gyms, I thought this one was on the cleaner side and the gym is also relatively newer (I think it opened in 2019?)
Been going here since 2020 and staff has always been friendly.

Challenges:
I've been going here since 2020, and its gotten so much more busy. That's the biggest thing from my experience. If you don't mind waiting a little or asking to work-in 1-3 times during a workout, I don't think this will be your issue.

Other than that, it's a really nice gym.

If swimming is important to you, you will be extremely disappointed with this location/chain and you should absolutely look elsewhere for a membership. For some ridiculous reason, they have pimped out their pool to a swim school for both child/adult swimming lessons, despite the fact that anyone looking for swimming lessons can already find them at every local public pool and at other established businesses like EVO Swim School, etc., that already exist to provide those lessons. Instead, LA Fitness disrespects their long-time paying members by giving away two out of the three lanes in their pool from 4-8pm every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and then again on Saturday during the day. If you work at a 9-5 job and hope to use your paid membership with some good pool time, forget it. Almost all prime hours in the pool are for others, not for you. And if you try to use the one remaining lane during those times, good luck. You will find it very hard to concentrate on your workout with the loud "Monkey-Airplane-Rocket!" instructions being repeated a million times by the instructors or the ear-piercing "kick-kick-kick-kick-kick-kick-kick-kick-kick-kick" being shouted rapidfire to the students. And when you bring your concerns to the manager about the situation, they will not matter a flick. They claim their headquarters made the arrangements with the swim school without their input, which seems highly unlikely, but either way your opinion as a paying member will matters not. And don't bother going to a different LA Fitness location either, because the manager says they will be implementing the swim lessons elsewhere as well. You will be screwed, like me. I could not be more frustrated or disgusted with LA Fitness after more than a decade of membership where the only workout I was able to do was the pool. Money is matters most to them, and they do not care at all about your needs or rights. Buyer beware. Avoid LA Fitness like the plague.

Our experience today was beyond embarrassing. My husband and I went in to workout this morning. The representative stated I could not be a guest. My husband and I usually come in at night, and have never been told I couldn't be a guest. When he first signed up they stated he could bring a guest on his visits and our daughter could access the kids room. Upon my husband asking to speak to a manager for clarification, the manager Ally was sitting right next to her. Ally started being very short with us, no eye contact, said she could pull up our contract and give it to us, knowing there was none in the system due to it being through his insurance. Ally also stated that we should be happy that she gave me a pass to workout today, in which we did not accept based on her unprofessionalism. Ally was also unknowledgeable of the packages offered to gympass members as being manager of this establishment. I also would have purchased the membership if the customer care was handled properly.
As a local business owner, I would never recommend this facility to any of my clients or friends. As a manager you should be able to listen, communicate effectively, and solve simple concerns when it comes to members.

Going on a year and sauna is still down for “temporary” repair. They should just call it permanent and we would be ok with it. Junk equipment that has not been repaired or replaced after reporting to the front desk repeatedly. Just frustrating that there is no oversight of gym and the only interest is to dupe you into a new membership or collect monthlies.

They are extra warm and excited when trying to enroll you and even go to the extent of pushing to sign you up for things even when they probably know we have misunderstood the terms and/or not completely onboard. Worse, they lie about future enrollment price to sign you up on a free trial for some duration only to tell you later there was a catch/term with the offered price and it was the customer who misunderstood.

Not to mention these same sales folks do not have the same warmth they showed you when you were enrolling and have totally opposite responses and response times once you have enrolled.

I understand its a business but lying and manipulating the customer did not sit well with me at all so BEWARE.

I preferred it when it was signature and priced a little higher. The crowds were smaller and they always had towels. Now they're crowded and never have towels. I mean never. I still love.the location and it's always clean.

Update May 2023: Wow have things gone downhill over the years. Took away towel service during covid so who cares if they were always dirty. Didn't change the price though when they did. I had to complain when they offered new rates for joining to get it lowered. Post covid things were ok. Still no towel service. Not as clean as it used to be. Basketball courts have zero ventilation. Tried to add someone to my membership and they told me it would be more than double what I pay not to do it. After going around and around on the pricing options, not a single one came to a different amount. They tried to tell me the prices were market rate, but when I went on their own website the had lower prices. Seems pretty shady they "selling" techniques. I will continue to go there due to the location, but what you get if you do come here is a MUCH smaller gym for more than double compared to any other gym within a 5 mile radius. Not cool LA. Not cool.

Update May 2024: Here we are another year later and this gym is going further downhill. They change management like a baby changes diapers. The sauna has now been out a full year and I was just informed that they have decided not to fix it. Like not at all. Or ever. So another service taken away and increased membership prices. Now we are being told the basketball courts may go away soon. I will be cancelling as soon as that happens or as soon as the Mountainside is built down the street, whichever occurs first. I only go there for my basketball group now. Oh and they are closing facilities nearby and routing those memberships here so it's getting more and more crowded. I literally cringe everytime I pay the dues. It's absolutely not worth it.

The sauna has been broken for over a year and corporate doesn't plan to fix. Trainers and previous managers are all great. We are paying $100 for 2 people and $150 per month for training for my son. We will be canceling our family membership. I am very concerned my card will continue to get charged after our contract is up and we leave. Update: Card hasn't been charged since we left. Make sure you ask for an email of your cancelation.

This LA fitness is a signature gym which is slated to be “upscale” and have more amenities and better equipment than the regular clubs.

This gym is equipped with a full size basketball court, large lap pool and large bathrooms, however the red light sauna in the women’s bathroom is closed permanently. There are no plans to repair or replace the sauna. The men’s sauna, however is functional. The gym has a good amount free weights, 3 squat racks, 3 smith machines, plenty of cables, and machine equipment as well as cardio machines. They have an aerobics, cycle and HIIT class room within this gym.

The facility is large, however it is spread out and not very well organized. The gym itself is fairly clean for a gym and overall one I would recommend if looking for a new gym.
