LA Fitness Oro Valley is awesome and our go-to every year we travel to Tucson for a one week family membership.

Mike is super helpful and always hooks us up with an easy, good value one week pass. If we lived in Tucson we would definitely join this club:

We were excited to try out some guest passes and genuinely were going to sign up but wanted to try it first. Mike pulled us aside to work his terrible sales pitch. Not only was it mean, it was logically flawed and just weird. But bad, real bad. Like falling out of a moving car bad. In what world would this work? Aggressive sales tactics don’t work. I love this gym. The environment is friendly, safe, and well maintained. The Kid’s Club exceeds expectations, particularly because of April who works very hard every day to ensure my children are well cared for while I work out. She is exceptionally attentive and I cannot overstate what an asset she is to this location. I would recommend this gym to friends with children solely because of her.

B. Milender here, a recent survivor of Leukemia with stem cell infusions. And massive drugs that destroyed my muscle groups. lA Fitness gyms all around I’m sure are great for getting the old broken down body’s back into shape, but I need to point out one in particular. LA Fitness, OroValley AZ.

The gym size is larger with every bit of exercise equipment you could possibly need. And a very attentive strength training staff. I’ve done what I could on my own to keep somewhat fit during my health changes. But this gym’s staff has taken my old weakened 71 year old body and set up the proper training scenario, increasing muscle strength and agility in four plus months to where I was able to run a 10:30 pace mile. And I’m still considered anemic. Wonderful staff, super gym!

Im sure the establishment is already aware of the issue, but there has to be something done about Mike. As a member of this gym of 5 plus years with the highest level membership, I am beyond appalled by the inappropriate behavior he’s so consistently subjected me and so many others to. I’m almost embarrassed to call this gym my home after Mike has harassed the guests I bring. Every time, without fail, Mike has made my friends uncomfortable to the point where they don’t even want anything to do with La fitness anymore. If you care about the success of your business, something has to be done to make your members at least a little more comfortable or else some more drastic measures might need to be taken

I didn't realize how much I needed a personal trainer until I had my body fat tested here 3 months ago or so. I was active and I thought I was good but....not. I started training with Phillip. He's a great trainer, really nice guy and I'm headed back to my ideal fitness. Even at 75, it's possible to get back into shape with the right direction and fitness center that has lots of great equipment. So happy I made the plunge.

Mike has repeatedly harassed my family and me regarding gym memberships, even when we were visiting with valid guest passes. He has called multiple family members and argued with them over the phone about purchasing a membership. His behavior has been extremely pushy, unprofessional, and rude, creating a very uncomfortable experience for us.

I started at La Fitness in June of 2025 and had never gone to a gym before except once with a relative. I am a 74 year old female and have lost 180 lbs over the last 6 years and felt that I would be out of place and most likely stick out like a sore thumb. Let me tell you that I was so wrong. The Oro Valley location and their staff are absolutely wonderful, friendly and helpful. Jamie who I itay signed me up was extremely helpful and informative. Travis my trainer is funny and pushes me to succeed in a good way always encouraging g me to push forward. Thank you Travis! Taylor is most helpful whenever I have had questions and just overall friendly. Ann and the other trainers are friendly and helpful as well and the lobby staff is great. I would recommend this gym to anyone that is interested in improving their health and general fitness. Thank you La Fitness Oro Valley!

I have worked out at six different clubs (3 LA Fitness locations in Tucson), and this by far has been my favorite. I was nervous about getting back into the gym after I retired, but this staff has made my time in the gym welcoming and fun. Tyler G. signed me up and greets me by name every time I come into the gym. He doesn't have to remember names of members, but he goes out of his way to say hello and ask how you are doing. He genuinely cares that you progress in your fitness and about you as a person. It's also been fun to talk football with him! I also signed up for personal training because it has been a while, and I needed a refresh. Phil S. has been my trainer, and he has really blessed me with the way he monitors and helps me increase my strength. He is encouraging, kind, and pushes me in such a positive way. Margaret is a personal trainer as well, and I have seen her really take care of her clients too. And finally, Diego greets you when you walk in and always wishes you a great workout! It really makes a difference when you have a staff of a gym encourage and care about its members.
On another note, people are friendly and helpful in this club. If you have a question about a machine, they are always willing to show you what to do. There are so many different kinds of weights, cardio machines, etc., and this gym is so spacious and clean overall. But again, the staff has made my experience life-changing, and it feels great to work out again! Thank you!!

Good space, equipment, and location. Mostly clean and maintained.

However, after signing up and paying, the management will try to swindle you into purchasing additional services in order to access their “reserved” equipment, *especially* if you are a disabled person who needs the equipment. Unfortunately, rather than address the issue, the management instead violates the whistleblower protections of those opposing the discrimination by removing dissenters from the club.

The manager here “Juan” is a horrible person to his employees. He flirts with all the young girls that work there and treats the male employees indifferently. He’s also very off putting to customers like myself. Management needs to do something about this or they’re gonna lose more customers. It’s not fair to the employees here to have such a bias rude manager. It’s also not fair to us to customers to have to watch and be around it.

This gym is filthy.
All the miorrs have so much sweat oil on them they are hazy.
Definitely dont look behind the weight rack or you will see literal inches of human hair, dust and dander. And remember that's whats being kicked up and floating around while you breath hard.

My only concern about this particular place location is the fact that they are no sanitizing wipes throughout the facility but instead a large roll of paper towels is placed on the table with some sprayers on one side of the facility and therefore very few people come over to the table to get sanitation materials to wipe down the machines. . kind of antiquated facilities due to the fact that you have to bring your own lock for the lockers where in most updated facilities there's a combination locks installed on the lockers therefore eliminating the need to bring your own personalized lock. .
Just recently went back to this location on July 12, 2025....found the front desk staffer to be very racist , rude, unprofessional..speaking with the manager...he was twice as rude and unprofessional....most of these facilities weakest link is their poor customer service!

This gym is the cleanest gym that I’ve ever been to. My kids love going to the kids club which makes coming to the gym easier.
There are plenty of weights for everyone, which I can’t say is true for all locations.
The wait for benches is typically short during busy hours.

This LA Fitness, located in beautiful Oro Valley, is hands down the best one in all of Tucson. The facility is spacious, clean, and well-equipped—whether you're lifting weights, getting in some cardio, or using the pool and sauna, it has everything you need.

Since I've been working out one-on-one with my personal trainer Travis, at LA Fitness I feel stronger, more confident, and I've also increased my lean body mass. He motivates me and holds me accountable to show up for my workouts.
Travis also knows how to get me past my comfort zone without pushing me too far. He challenges me to work to the apex of my potential.
With Travis as my trainer, giving up is not an option. I highly recommend him to create an exercise program for you in order to help you reach your personal goals.

The management including corporate leaders are stealing money from their clients. They charged my daughter $60 a month for over a year. She cancelled her membership and trainer on the same day. They kept changing her trainer as a result of this she decided to cancel both. Even though she cancelled both LA fitness continued to charge her account for over a year. They will not give her a refund without the cancellation reference number which she never received. They were unable to locate the email they sent or had on file with the cancellation number. After her calling numerous times and then going in person they would only give her three months refund $120 vs $720! This is stealing money from clients. They also offered her three months to use a gym she has no interest in being in! What a misleading manager Leah who has no business in gym or dealing with clients. She didn’t want to deal with the situation kept hiding and acting like she was busy on the phone.
What a rip off they are literally thieves and should have given her a full refund. Worst gym experience ever.

I'm not sure who is managing this location but they're not doing a good job. The hot water hasn't worked for over a month and the staff seems to make up excuses. There really isn't any explanation that would justify it taking this long to fix a hot water heater. If you can't get parts or find someone who knows how to fix it, just replace the system. It's obvious that this simply isn't a priority for them.

There is very little turnover and their trainers are excellent for people of all ages and co edition. I've been going to this one for two years and I am very pleased. Very clean, great equipment and really nice workout studio and cycling room. Lots and lots of classes with many different teachers, but again, turnover is not high so a person can get used to a few different teachers. Love the place and I have been going to gyms for 40 years.....

I don’t recommend coming to this specific location. We’ve been mistreated by the staff every time we come here. Why do you need to be rude when checking in your members and their guests. Oh by the way, despite LA’s allowance of “bringing any 2 guests per visit”. Male front staff rudely told us “only 1”, and immediately demanded payment for a day pass. He was also unnecessarily efficient to present the many ways to pay for the pass. I wonder if this grants him some sort of a commission. Bottom line is that if you’re visiting or bringing a friend from out of town to LA, don’t come to this location and have your day ruined.

I highly recommend to pay your membership elsewhere. You will be disrespected by staff in this location. They only have one platform for deadlift. My experience here has been horrible. I was doing a step up the other day and this personal trainer decided to put a coffee cup On the ploy box I was using, knowing well her coffee was going to spill. The client she was training pointed out I was using it, then I asked her if I was in the way, she replied no so I was confused why she decided to be in my space. Today, I was in the same space, and one of the personal trainer walked up to me and told me the area is only for personal training so I had to leave the space. If am paying for a gym membership and as a member I can’t use any space I want as long as it’s empty why am I moving away from that space. Also, there is no sign anywhere stating this is personal training space only. For the price of the membership, there should be more than one platform and I should not be treated as a second class citizen because am not paying for personal training. I expect to be treated with more respect and not be treated like I don’t belong in the space. Everyone should have access to the only deadlift space provided and any space if the space is free. I felt disgusted by this awful behavior and I expect no one else should be allowed to feel the same way. From my experience. Every equipment and space is first come first serve, I will appreciate to be corrected if there is anywhere in the contract that states I will have to leave a space for other people to use.

I got the membership because I want to play basketball. However everytime I go, they don’t have basketballs. They say people steal the balls. Which is understandable but then again it’s not my fault. There should be a system in place to where people who take the balls are required to return them back. I came in to try to utilize the sauna 30 min before closing and they would not let me in. They said that I have to be in the building an hour before closing. In all the gym memberships I've paid for I've never been limited on when I can go in before close. Nor do I see this rule listed on their website. This isn’t my favorite LA Fitness location. They have no space anywhere to just exist and workout. Every square inch of this place is filled in by a machine or a bench. There are no barbells, or turf area just to do a workout in. There’s a teeny corner for stretching but half of it is taken up by cable machines. The pool and jacuzzi are grimey, and there are no ankle straps for cable machines. Overall, it’s not my favorite location. For a gym that costs almost $60/month I’d like it to be cleaner and have at least some turf space for kettlebell workouts and warm ups. People consistently NEVER wipe their machines down, and the gym makes it very difficult for people to do so. The wipes hold barely any sanitizer, and there are two locations ins the whole gym for them.

LA Fitness on Oracle is our favorite Oro Valley gym. My daughter and I go there about 3 times a week, and have consistently experienced a clean and inviting facility. The staff, especially Luis and the front desk employees, are always very nice and professional. They seem to make our workouts that much more enjoyable! Kudos to the management team.

I am only in Tucson for 7 months and decided to sign up for their personal training sessions. My trainer Travis is great to work with and has really helped me to reach fitness milestones. I highly recommend him if you do decide to do personal training here. He worked hard with me and around all of my physical limitations (and there are a lot). He did research outside of our training to ensure that I don’t get injured but still get strong. They also work with you on diet and macros!

I signed up for 2x a week personal training for $520/month for a 6 month contract. Apparently, a couple of weeks after I signed up, they lowered that rate to $400/month but they continued to charge me the $520/month. That is $720 dollars extra in total that I paid compared to everyone else. So make sure when you sign up, you are signing up when they have the lowest rates available.

I got charged for an extra month because I was not informed that after your contract ends, you are charged continuously on a month by month basis. You have to cancel it to not get charged anymore. However, Tyler just resolved the situation with me and then some so I edited my rating back to 5 stars. It seemed like a big miscommunication.

Once again, I highly recommend Travis for training. He pushed me past what I thought I could achieve. I wish I had him as a trainer when I was still in the Marine Corps. You can see in my before photo that I was pretty skinny and not a lot of muscle mass. My after photos show the insane progress I’ve had. My lifts have increased drastically.

Definitely coming back in December for more training when I’m back in the states.

This location is clean and has a nice layout. The workers here are awesome, specifically Kate and Phillip! Kate was really great with helping me fix billing issues I was experiencing when I was switching over to a membership under my health insurance plan. She even got my new membership set up correctly when it initially wasn't. Phillip is always so kind and greets everyone who comes in.

This is a great gym! The staff is friendly and helpful. The cleaning staff, particularly the weekday guy and his co-worker are incredible. It would be really hard to find two harder working people, they keep this place clean!

Some cons.....A lot of people come here to talk. They put their personal belongings along with a few dumbbells on one of 4 benches and then add weights to a nearby piece of equipment. Then they see one of their buddies and start talking. They tie up equipment for long periods of time. There are a few that go on for hours. There needs to be a gym monitor to move these people along, there are some real abusers here.

Some suggestions:
More Kaiser M3 bikes on the floor so that people wanting to use one when there are classes going on in the spin room may do so.

A larger stretch area. The current one is crammed into a hallway like room shared with workout equipment, It is sometimes impossible to find a space to stretch unless you're lucky enough to find an unused racquetball court. There is a large space right next to the daycare....where a failed juice bar was last year and now has a few tables and chairs, I rarely see anyone, or anything utilizing this space. Why not make this a stretching area?

When I was looking for a gym near me in Tucson we were excited to see a LA fitness nearby. John and Luis were super helpful and accommodating and gave us a nice tour of the location. It’s surprisingly clean, we were able to find all of the right equipment and there was no wait for the machines.

This negative review is not for the club, which has nice equipment and everything you'll need, but just because has basically become a high school hangout now between the hours of 5-8pm. It is overrun with teenagers during that time and that wouldn't matter if these were respectful young kids.

However last time I was there, there was toilet paper thrown all over the locker room and bathroom. It has truly gotten out of hand is becoming a negative experience for all the paying guests to have these spoiled kids running around unchecked.

I was recently in oro valley, AZ to visit family for the holiday weekend and went to LA FITNESS. Tyler the sales representative there was amazing and helped me out big time. I recently became a member of L.A Fitness at the Oro valley location. My first visit was with a friend who was already a member of the facility. While my friend arrived late to
introduce me to the facility staff, I was greeted and welcomed by Tyler Graunke.
Having experienced with other fitness centers, I was intrigued with the way L.A. Fitness
staff treats its incoming new members. As a new member, here are the key attributes.
which attracted me to join the fitness center:
1) Staff personnel are well-trained as demonstrated by Tyler who had a
positive attitude and made me feel very comfortable in a new environment. Tyler
is responsible and a seasoned employee who cares to promote a good
impression and experience for its new members.
2) L. A. Fitness has a good policy of having customers first try out with free passes
before becoming members.
3) The facility is clean, attractive and has a very good ventilation system.

Based on my previous membership experience with other fitness clubs, I strongly
recommend L.A Fitness – it’s an excellent organization!

My husband Mike and I joined L.A. Fitness on Oro Valley a couple of weeks ago. We were greeted by a very warm smile from the young lady behind then counter. We then met Sales rep. Luis, who was very friendly and polite. He took the time to show us the entire facility and explained in detail the options we had. We also had the pleasure of meeting General Manager Tyler. Please let it be known that the Manager of this facility “Tyler” not only acts in bad faith when signing the elderly into Training Contracts, but totally breaches said contracts! He will completely deny any negotiations or initials of any changes to contracts for terms written outside of the original agreement. My 80 mother followed ALL of the requirements to terminate her 6 MONTH negotiated contract including sending a certified letter and copy of the initialed changes to the corporate office as well as went to Tyler in person who simply stated “the guy who did that was fired” even though HIS initials appear on the changes!!! Prepare to be sued if you do not comply. The corporate office returned said certified cancellation notice with “your term of 12 months…” also completely ignored the redlined contract! This Company Franchise and Corporate office are criminals!

SCAM ALERT!!! Avoid this gym because will dishonestly charge your account, even if you die. My sister-in-law purchased a membership at this gym last fall. She was terminally ill with cancer and was determined to stay strong during her treatments. Tragically, she died in unexpectedly in January. 3-4 days following her death, my wife went in and tried to cancel her personal training sessions but was told the person she needed to talk to was not there. She went in a second time and spoke to the person with authority to cancel but was told to bring a death certificate. She went in a third time with the death certificate but the person she needed to talk to was busy. She spoke to another employee who told her she did not need a death certificate and that the charges would be refunded and membership cancelled. My sister-in-laws account was then charged a second time since her death, and they knew she was dead. We live in Colorado and had returned and saw the charge. My wife then called and the employee stated the they had lost her phone number and asked for a copy of the death certificate. My wife sent a copy of the death certificate and now the account has been charged 2 more times for a total of $840. Please, do not give your money or bank account information to this company! they will absolutely rip you off!

I really like LA Fitness! I’ve been a member since 2008. I love the fact they acquired Esporta around the country which really expands their offerings, like in Chicago where there must be 25 or more in the region! I never have to drive more than 5-10 miles to find a club there! I think their weight lifting and cardio equipment is generally very good! Plus I especially like the racquetball courts and swimming pool and hot tubs! The staff are usually very nice and the facilities are generally clean and the parking lots and bike racks are good! I sound like an ad but I think my $49.99 a month is a bargain because I am there at least 3 hours a day! I am also a member at Planet Fitness because of two reasons: PF is sometimes open later plus they are available in many small towns across the country; but PF doesn’t have pools or racquetball!

First time here. I had the three day pass. Tried the yoga class and it was just what I was looking for. The instructor was wonderful and it worked well for all levels. I did not know all the poses but still felt very comfortable in the class. I did not utilize any of the equipment but there was a wide selection if I was up to trying them.

It is a good gym. The people are nice. At this location, the dumbbells only go up to 100 lbs. Deadlifting kind of sucks because the weights are octagonal shaped, so they don't roll very well at all. The Star Track brand equipment is not designed for big guys. It is simply not adjustable for me at 6' 6". But the Life Fitness, Hammer Strength, and Matrix equipment mostly all work pretty well for me. I wish they had a steam room. But it seems like nobody has those anymore. They have a long counter of sinks in the men's room. And the only paper towel dispensers are at each far end, right beside someone else's sink. So that wasn't very well designed. They could put one or two easily enough on the wall right behind the sinks. There is also only one trash can for everyone to fight over. Anyway, I like it. It's a good gym.

This is one of few nearby LA fitness centers with approx. 6-7 upright staircases machines (with revolving staircase). Usually nicely cooled, and bonus, water fountains make water ice cold.
People very friendly, I notice lots of people making connections, with common interests. I've been coming here consistently since Jan of 2018. Nice dry sauna, beautiful mountai views, nicely cared for machines.

There was an issue with two men claiming to be management. They did not allow me and my wife’s service dog in (claiming I needed to show paperwork. Once leaving, my wife called upper management and after 20 minutes on the phone were able to go back in. We’ve been there since and have not had any issues. Very clean and it is a friendly environment! ✌🏾✌🏾
