Before joining the Lifestyle Performance Transformation Program, I struggled with motivation. I kept putting things off until “tomorrow”—whether it was exercise, cutting back on sweets, or tackling projects around the house. After a knee injury, I was afraid to reinjure myself, so I avoided activity altogether. The negative self-talk was constant.
This time has been different.
Working with Austin in Tempe for personal training gave me the confidence to move again. He challenges me at just the right level, while making sure I stay safe. At the same time, John’s health coaching has helped me shift my mindset and habits outside the gym—making changes to my nutrition, simplifying my routines, and staying consistent without the pressure of being “perfect.”

Before starting the Lifestyle Performance Transformation Program, I was dealing with high cholesterol, knee pain, and weight gain, and I struggled to stick to a workout routine. Staying consistent was always the hardest part for me.

He's always been very flexible in scheduling and structuring our workouts. He's kept me motivated to continue strength training. Before finding Lifestyle Performance Training, I felt stuck in a frustrating cycle. I had spent a year faithfully following a weight loss program—tracking meals, staying within the recommended ranges—and still saw minimal results. I've been working with Austin for the last year and a half and couldn't be happier. In the first year, Austin helped me lose 50 pounds and has helped me keep it off since. He's also helped me gain muscle. These have also translated into becoming a stronger and more efficient runner. This is the fittest I've ever been in my adult life.
Austin is invested in making sure your workout is tailored to your abilities and goals. I have a neuromuscular disorder that can prevent my muscles from working. Austin is always keeping this in mind to ensure I'm not doing an exercise that could potentially result in an injury.

I couldn't write a better review about Austin. He is very good at pushing and motivating you, but not in a way that frustrates you like a sports coach might. He stays calm, can tell when you are close to failure, and talks you through it in a way that makes you want to do better. One of my favorite things was the efficiency that Austin has during the workout. I've done specific workouts in the gym, which took me about 2.5 hours, and Austin was able to get the exact same workout (rep for rep) done in an hour. He makes great conversation throughout the workout and you can tell he cares about what's going on in your life. He's also got a wide array of exercises, many of which I've started using, to make sure it doesn't feel receptive across sessions. I'm very appreciative of the progress I made while seeing Austin, and I'm disappointed that I had to discontinue sessions when we moved out of state.

John Winters is the absolute best personal trainer. In my 70's he is patient, knowledgeable and yet knows when to push a little. Workouts are challenging but enjoyable. Every session is different and he finds muscles to exercise that I did not know I had. The most amazing thing about John is his professionalism and degree in Kinesiology. I am learning so much with each exercise and how it is helping me to be stronger. Not wanting the gym scene, it is such a pleasure to work out in a gym alone and John is extremely attentive watching every movement and breath. I have had the opportunity to work with Austin for about three years. Because of his degree in Kinesiology, he is very knowledgable about the human body. As a good trainer, he is constantly vigilant about any joint and muscular injuries, while attempting to build and strengthen.
Austin constantly reminds me to hold the weight, cable, my body, etc., the best angle possible to optimize my goals. He has a great motivating and positive attitude. Having a trainer, is not a luxury. It is an investment in myself. I highly recommend Austin.

I first started here after following a friend's amazing transformation on FB. I came in with a lingering knee injury and a long list of things I couldn't do anymore, but after a couple months of working with John, we had rehab'd my injury-related weakness and bad form and I gained overall strength and definition. I really appreciate that the vibe is professional and focused because so many other studios feel more like dance clubs or dating scenes, which is not what I am going for with my limited time and money. My dream was to be a firefighter. John helped me get there! If you are new to it or having trouble with it you know that the CPAT or BURST test can be a potential obstacle to getting an interview. With John, you'll never have that problem again. I've known John since elementary school. Fitness has always been a core principle in his life so when I needed help getting in shape he was the first person I called. He was also the only person I needed to call. I trained with John, by choice, for about 3 months. Realistically he had me at my goal in 2 weeks! He is truly an expert. He knows when to push and when to back off. He gives you the tools and the training to make the changes you want in your life. It's not just about physical fitness, it's lifestyle fitness! Mental, emotional, physical.
