Daniel Madrid is a very talented fighter and Jiu Jitsu practitioner, but he's also a phenomenal coach and human being. He's just as passionate about his art as he is about making men better men, women more confident and capable, and children more disciplined and focused. I've known Daniel for close to 30 years. I've been blessed to watch his journey and his immense dedication to the martial arts. I'm a Marine combat veteran, former 1% MC member, been a bouncer at some very rough establishments, cage fought, wrestled my whole life, 20 years BJJ, and considered by most to be a "tough guy." Daniel humbled me in mere seconds everytime I've been honored to step on the mat or in the ring with him. There's levels to martial arts and one of the sweetest, kindest, friendliest guys I've ever met is at the pinnacle of those levels. I cannot recommend Madrid BJJ in Scottsdale enough. I’ve known Daniel since 2018, and he is simply a fantastic human being and an incredible coach. I have entrusted him with training of all three of my sons, and watching them grow under his guidance has been amazing. Had an awesome experience meeting Coach Daniel from Madrid Jiu Jitsu & Self-Defense when he stopped by Fluid Martial Arts Academy. He was kind, friendly, and respectful, and his student who was also very skilled taught me a few great moves while we rolled. Both of them brought great energy and positive vibes to the mats. I had the pleasure of attending the soft opening this last Saturday and when I tell you, as someone who was strictly there as a bystander and a supporter of those who attended, I actually learned a lot. Daniel and Ki's class was incredible, informative, and all over amazing. The way they broke down each step and took the time to go through moves with each individual participant was the perfect way I could have hoped to learn as a first timer. I found this amazing self defense class in Scottsdale. I started the class with a free 4 day trial membership. I have to admit I was a little nervous on my first day because I don't know anything about Jiu Jitsu. My instructor was Dan Madrid and he was wonderful. He put me at ease during my first session. I am definitely signing up for a full membership.

I have known Daniel since 2009. Met him on the mats at the old Metro Gracie Barra facility. Ive seen him grow as a fighter and a coach. He has been with me through my ups and downs as a fighter.
I would have never stepped in the cage if it wasn't for Daniel training me. The night our team went 6-0 in Payson, AZ was legendary.
He is the type of man you will want in your corner. Whether it training you, or your child.

I have known Professor Daniel since he was a purple belt at Gracie Barra in NW Phoenix. I have taken many private lessons from him and have found his teaching to be very individualized to meet your goals and also highly detail oriented focusing on proper technique. I relocated to the east valley 10 years ago and am thrilled he is opening a BJJ school close to me. I immediately signed up as one of the founding members. I have already toured the facility and it is in a desirable location in the 85260 zip code. It's just off of Hayden Rd not far from that Hayden & Raintree roundabout. Oh, and just a couple minutes off the E101. It's really a perfect location.

Professor Daniel is patient with kids and IMO it will be a great place for Scottsdale families to bring their children to learn jiu-jitsu (translation - "the gentle art").

Lastly, I'm 55 years old and can't go limping into my office the next day after a class. Yup, been there done that. I'm choosing Madrid Jiu-Jitsu & Self-Defense because it's an environment that is welcoming to everyone who wants to learn traditional jiu-jitsu with other students that want to encourage me, not beat me.
