This review is in response to Crystal and Keith Gindlesperger! I will start by saying both their reviews and entirely false. They didn’t meet the requirements for a 5 Day which are that you have to be an Arizona resident meaning you need to have proof of that. They were not from Arizona and they were visiting for a couple of weeks and were trying to just use the gym for free. They claim that they were going to sign up after which is false. They did the same thing last year and do it to other gyms as well trying to get as many free passes as they can. The employee that didn’t issue the 5 Day was simply following company policy. They wrote incredibly immature reviews when in reality they are just acting like bratty kids who didn’t get their way and want to take it out on the employee and company.

I came into Mountainside Fitness Happy Valley excited to try the 5-day guest pass and was already planning to join after giving it a shot. Unfortunately, the staff member I dealt with Randy (the one who honestly reminded me of Lord Farquaad) ruined the entire experience.

He came across as pushy and abrasive from the start, and when we didn’t want to sign up immediately, he flat-out refused to issue the guest pass. His exact words: “Sorry, I’m not gonna issue out the five day pass. It’s only for people who actually wanna go here.” The irony is that I WAS ready to go here after the trial.

As someone in sales myself, I couldn’t believe how unprofessional and rude he became with even the slightest pushback. Instead of encouraging new members, he acted like a spoiled child. I walked in ready to give my business to this gym, but after that encounter, I’ll gladly take it somewhere else.

I very rarely write reviews, but I have to share my experience here today, September 29th. My fiancé and I have been looking for a gym to join while we’re currently residing here in Arizona, and we were excited to find that Mountainside Fitness was only five minutes away. We wanted to take advantage of the five-day free pass to see if it would be a good fit before committing to a membership.

Today was our first day visiting, and we were impressed with how nice the gym was. We honestly loved it. We went in early in the morning, but the front desk staff told us to come back later when a sales rep was available. We did just that because we were genuinely interested in signing up.

Unfortunately, when we returned, the sales rep refused to honor the five-day free pass because we didn’t purchase a membership right then and there. We even told him we planned to buy a membership after using the pass, but he still wouldn’t allow us to use it. We showed proof that we are currently residing in Arizona (even though we have California licenses), but he continued to question us and made us feel uncomfortable the entire time.

This was disappointing because we liked the facility. Instead, this experience left us feeling unwelcome and made us not want to come back which is just sad because we were excited to make Mountainside Fitness our gym. If the guy was friendly and maybe smiled a little I know our entire experience would have been so different. The way this guy went about and made us feel was not right at all. Really loved this gym until this interaction. Service should not be done this way :/

Good gym but the free weights are pretty dirty. Bathrooms as well are pretty dirty as well but it’s not that bad. Anyways Jayden the personal trainer I used was great. Very knowledgeable and helped me fix and improve my form over many different exercises.

Terrible service. Signed up for the $1 promo. Brandon tells me you have 30 days to use it. I get charged on day 20 and then they tell me it’s because it was prorated and since I signed up on the 10th, I had till the end of the month. He never said that. Then I try calling numerous times from day 20 to day 35 and never got a call back from the Membership services team. I went into a different location to get it cancelled and they said they couldn’t help me with a refund. They sent an email to the Happy Valley location and I had to follow up with them and Brandon said yeah since you cancelled on the 31st day we can’t help you. Absolutely terrible. Nice gym but would never do business with them again

Very nice layout with lots of equipment. I'm a firm believer that if you are upset with people not wiping stuff down prepare to clean it before you use it. My only complaint is the class they have in the trx, core area. Would be nice to have it available to stretch and do core work, any other area is jam packed because we have to move for that class. Suggest they use the other class rooms for it. Other than that all the employees have been great!

I’ll give credit where it’s due—this gym is clean, and the locker room is well-maintained. The steam room and sauna are definitely nice perks. However, the layout is on the smaller side, and if you’re not already familiar with where things are, it can be frustrating trying to find the machines you need—especially during peak hours when a lot of the equipment is in use.

I signed up for the 5-day free pass, and overall, my experience was just okay. One thing that bothered me was that the front desk staff didn’t mention I needed to meet with the sales team to activate the full 5-day pass. The sales team isn’t available early in the morning, which is when I usually go, so that was inconvenient.

They advertise the first month as “free,” but in reality, you’re paying the last month up front. It’s just a marketing tactic, which I get—but it feels a bit misleading. What really turned me off was the constant text messages pushing me to sign up. I tried marking the texts as spam, but they just keep coming from different numbers. I don’t feel comfortable replying “stop,” especially if I’m unsure it’s even coming from MountainSide Fitness directly.

In the end, this gym just isn’t the right fit for me. I wish the space was bigger with more equipment options. The crowding and aggressive sales tactics made the experience less enjoyable overall.

This gym is clean with tons of great equipment that is well maintained. I Have been working with an amazing trainer, Tony Al Sayed. He is very knowledgeable, takes time outside of our sessions to customize a good workout program for me that I can use when I’m working out on my own. Tony truly cares about the progress of his clients. He is flexible and quickly adapts my program when certain exercises don’t work well for me. I’ve had a lot of good trainers in the past at different gyms, but Tony is top notch.

I am thrilled to have found a gym that meets my requirements. As a stay-at-home mom, I felt it was essential to take care of myself. The gym's app provides various classes, including Barre Sculpt, which I thoroughly enjoy. Very poor customer service. I asked a young lady sitting behind a desk looking at her phone for some help with the massage chairs. She said just read the instructions on the chair it’s really easy. So I kept trying to figure it out but never did. She had nobody at her desk she wasn’t busy, she was just rude and lazy. Today I asked the young man at the counter if I could leave my reading glasses on the back counter. He said no, just use those little lockers over on the wall. I asked how they work. He said just read the instructions on the wall, it’s really simple. Again he wasn’t busy and never offered assistance. I’ve tried to have a few small conversations with some other employees and they’re just not friendly. Not a friendly environment in my experiences.

I do not recommend this company to anyone as a matter, fact I hope everybody cancels membership and takes their business elsewhere last year I called them in November to cancel my membership because I was working out of state and did not know when I was going to be returning. They refused to cancel. I will no longer be paying for a service that I can’t use they would not email me a form to cancel it. They said I had to be in person to sign the form to cancel it and then sent me to collections for $800. This is one of the most crooked backstabbing companies in the valley.

My husband and I joined the gym in July and this is our first gym experience. The facilities are very nice and the staff friendly. We signed up for personal training with Ryan. He has helped us meet our goals by showing us how to use the equipment and different sets of strength training. He worked well with us and was able to push us, but was aware of our limits. The gym itself is nice, but my two biggest complaints are, it’s full of people sitting on equipment just staring at their phones so it really makes it difficult to get in workout and get out quickly. The other complaint would be almost no one wipes down equipment when they’re done. If you go late at night you can avoid most of this but over all it’s not worth the money personally

I’ve been a member of MOUNTINSIDE for alsmot 3 years. I’ve never had any issues at this gym! The staff is honestly the best part about coming here. Terry, Jack, Jayleen, Ben, Payton, Jacob, everyone in the front is always amazing. Moving from the front, everyone with the MSR team is the best and my daughter loves Colyn and Colin! We’ve never felt more welcomed in a gym before. My daughter loves the KIDSCARE team. She does have her favorites (Ella, Bailey, and Madison!) but she loves everyone! I also signed up for personal training with Tyler C. He’s not at this location anymore, but he got me set up with J! The training is always fun and doesn’t actually feel like you’re training, just more of having fun! Dylan is the new personal training manager. He’s great with communication and making sure all clients are well taken care of. We love this gym and all of the staff. Tony (the GM) and Taylor the AGM make it a point to remember all the clients that walked through those doors. This gym is always well kept and clean! We love MountianSide Happy Valley!! :)

Mountain Fitness Arizona has shown us exactly what terrible customer service looks like. We are deeply disappointed, especially given our situation as a military family. Despite repeated attempts to cancel our membership, they continued billing us without paying attention to our requests. We reached out multiple times to halt the charges, explaining our relocation and personal circumstances, yet our pleas fell on deaf ears.

The worst part? Now, 1.5 years after we relocated, they are suddenly billing us again. It's beyond absurd--it's exploitative. This is not how you treat people, especially disabled veterans and their families who deserve understanding and respect--now billing threatened to send it to collections because the account for my daughter is getting close to when she would be 18.

Their complete lack of compassion and professionalism is appalling, and their refusal to support veterans shows a blatant disregard for the very people who have served this country.

Do yourself a favor: never sign up for services with Mountain Fitness Arizona. Their lack of integrity and customer support makes them a terrible choice for anyone seeking a genuine, trustworthy fitness experience. Stay away, or you could be dealing with unnecessary stress for years.

I joined Mountainside a few months ago when I moved to the valley and it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming every time I’m there. Jonathan Daily my trainer has been fantastic, not only in teaching me proper workouts and fundimentals but in motivation aswell. Inconsistent child care management. One day they’ll make an exception to something, and then the next day they’ll try to enforce a rule that was ok the day before, leading to upset children who are left confused why they could do something one day, and are told “no” by staff the next day.

Updated review. It was a 3 star but after the management team listened to me they understood my frustrations. I am happy to report I am back to the gym and satisfied with how they have treated me and welcomed me back into the HV location.

Difficult to find a female trainer to keep to her schedule. I do not recommend training here. If you are disciplined to workout yourself, props to you and this gym is great. I felt the Happy Valley location treated me like a number. Didn’t care about my wants or needs. Not the greatest experience. I just wish someone would help hold me accountable and stick to our routine and schedule we had planned.

This is one of the better mountainside locations. Compared to other gyms and other mountain side locations it’s very spacious. This means they have plenty of room for plenty of equipment. Typically it’s not too busy except rush hour times (0630-0930) and (1600-1900). Even during gym rush hour you’ll be able to get to the weights/equipment you need.

The classes are fun, and there’s no extra charge. I wanted to get more into stretching and cardio, and they have classes for all of that. Yoga, stretch class, tabata, and more.

They have a sauna + steam room, and they’re typically kept pretty clean.

Home gym for my family and I. Love the open atmosphere and even when busy doesn't feel cramped. Warm friendly staff and the new GM Sean was a homerun hire for Mountainside, always brings his smile with him, makes me feel appreciated which is nice these days. Thanks Mountainside & Sean!!

I love the variety of classes that they offer here - Barre, Yoga, Dance, Pilates, Cycling, and so many more! The instructors are awesome & you can tell so passionate about the classes they teach. They typically have a 5-day free trial so that you can try it out first. They also have a ton of open gym equipment.

- some of the equipment seats are cracked, which feels unsanitary (but otherwise it’s generally very clean)

I am a 12-year member of Mountainside and have visited numerous locations over the years. The customer service and amenities are always above par, but I would like to shine some light on the Norterra location. Upon checking in the workers are always so inviting and make you feel at home. Raelynn in particular always has a smile on her face and makes me feel welcome. I imagine that everyone has their bad days, but you would never know it with her. Thank you for the excellent service!
