I wanted to take the time to recommend this place, not only because of the location and the amazing staff, but there are also folks who stand out and make a difference, so with that stated…there is a young man there who is always friendly, cordial, and willing to help, chat or take the time to chat. So if you go into the gym someday soon and you see Caden working the front desk, well that is the person whom I am talking about.
There are also Ben, the manager who always listens to recommendations or says hello each and every time I see him. Of course the training staff would not be amazing unless they had someone like Libby overseeing their excellence.
On Libby’s staff there are a lot of stand out folks, in another review I mentioned Justin, but there is also Kevin who we don’t train but discuss the next terrible or great move of the NY Yankees.
So if you are looking for a home town gym and great place to work out you will find it here! They do the best job with what they have to work with and I go there to work out, not critic a moment of oversight.

My name is David Alan Rabbit I would have been a drill sgt for the United States Marine Corps but there was some things that required me for street service like being The United States Armies first kill. My street service lead me to being worked out by the army and receiving personal training at this mountainside fitness location. Where I got to work with personal trainer Kevin Lee. He was very easy going and helped me reach my goals of bulking and putting on strength. Complimented by the cherry supportive family structure of Libby the personal trainer girl. I would recommend this location to both younger and older people looking for both a place to get in shape and receive the honored customer service we praise so highly in America. As a person who has a lot of endurance they've gone threw for there 29 years alive so far there some things I just appreciate and that's nice customer service and a good product and I believe you will receive such things with the coworker personal training team of both Kevin Lee and Libby here at the Tempe marina heights location. I love going to this location! It’s so cute, has a nice view, and is always well-maintained. I went on Sunday after running at Rio Salado Park, which is right next to the gym. The place and the facilities are truly beautiful and of very high quality. Unfortunately, the customer service made me feel unwelcome.

No one offered me a tour or any basic information about the gym. The most unpleasant part was that they asked for my passport and kept it until I left, which made me feel very uncomfortable.

After thinking about it for a while, I decided to leave. When I asked for my passport on my way out, they simply handed it back without saying a word.

The location is excellent since I work only five minutes away, but I prefer to go somewhere where I feel comfortable and genuinely welcomed.

This establishment has built its success by swindling. Beware of the personal trainers; especially if they are asking you to sign the pin pad. The personal trainers here will try to trick you into a commitment that is equivalent to a car payment, even if you clearly tell them "no". This is just how they run the business. The concerns of the customer do not matter to them at all. Not very ethical practices here.

The treadmills and equipment are in poor shape and clearly need better upkeep. Locker rooms are neglected, often without towels, soap, or napkins, which makes the experience frustrating. I’d like to acknowledge manager Ben Peres for his kindness and effort to go above and beyond for me. I recently had lost a family member and was unable to make use of my membership for quite awhile. I paid for a year upfront so didn't think pausing was an option. He went out of his way to extend my membership giving me the opportunity to make the most of what I paid for! It’s a nice gym, and the steam room is awesome. I think $48 a month is a bit steep but if you’re willing to pay it, they have nice amenities.

With that said, I know pretty much every gym relies on giving people a tough time on freezing/cancelling in the hopes that people will forget about the subscription and keep paying, but I have never had as much of an issue with membership cancelation than with Mountainside. My buddies and I all signed up on the same day and they hit us with the classic “we have a one-time deal” for ASU students where you can sign up at the yearly rate, but with the benefit of being able to cancel on a month-to-month basis. Seemed like we got the best of both worlds and were paying $40/month instead of $48, but when we tried to cancel at the end of the school year, they wanted us to pay them out for the rest of the one year membership.

My two buddies and I have had the same issue, so I know I’m not crazy and remembered it wrong; they definitely said we could cancel anytime and have refused to honor it. I have not paid them the ~$170 buyout fee and don’t intend to.

If you live close, don’t mind an expensive membership, and foresee being a mountainside customer for over a year, maybe this is the place for you. Otherwise, EOS does memberships for $10/month for just as nice of a gym and I’d suggest looking into that as an option because they have lots of locations across the valley.

I really tried to like this place, but the lack of maintenance—especially in the showers and steam rooms—is a major issue. There's been a persistent sewage smell since I signed up, and it hasn’t improved.

The steam room, in particular, seems like it hasn’t been cleaned since they built the place. There’s been a nice piece of dirt I’ve noticed since my first visit that hasn’t moved—it’s only gotten bigger.

Air fresheners, please!

The entire water system shut down, with no access to steam rooms, toilets, showers, and they couldn't notify anyone, but are okay sending 5 marketing emails out a day.

The entry is located inside a parking garage, with minimal signs, which already makes for an unwelcoming first impression. While the area is decent, the constant hassle of finding a parking spot, combined with the awkward entry and exit, makes it feel like more trouble than it’s worth.

If you work in the building and use the gym during lunch, I can see how the location might be convenient. But for anyone else, it’s out of the way. I’ve been to other locations that I prefer, and honestly, I regret getting a membership here.

VALIDATE YOUR PARKING NOW!! Starting Oct 2024. The parking attendant said the parking garage company changed or whatever. And you need to have Mountainside front desk validate your parking ticket now. Otherwise it's $6 or $50 if you lose your ticket. $50 for a lost ticket!! The Mountainside front desk didn't tell me any of this. This was a conversation I had over the parking intercom when trying to exit the garage. They were nice and let me leave since it was new, but be aware. ... This was 9pm on a weekday.

The gym is a good lifting gym for the price range since you get access to all the Mountainsides in Phoenix.

Been coming here for over a year now. Excellent staff hospitality Cameron and Kieren were very helpful and always greet you with a smile! One of the cleanest gyms in the area with stellar equipment and one of the hottest saunas in the valley!

awful, they will only let you cancel your membership by mailing a certified letter to corporate. i moved out of state and they wont let you cancel over the phone or email. this is a con game and they know it. Even if it specifies it in the contract this just makes customers lives more difficult and i will not be coming back for this reason.

The front desk he polite but the lady who work at the back Not polite, the girl name Malinna sth, she’s very unprofessional the way she explain is not appropriate, you guy should train your stuff a little more professional not act like this. And the place is too small never comes back again.

This location is really convenient for people working in downtown Tempe and the trainers are all really motivated. I've trained with Grayson for over a year now and have really enjoyed the results. Would definitely recommend both him and the gym.

Misleading predatory practices in regard to your 5 day pass. If you don’t have an Arizona ID they won’t let you use their facility even if you live in Arizona. Nowhere on the website does it say without proof of residency you will not be able to use the pass. I am moving to the area and was hoping to try out the facility first. Fitness manager could not be bothered, had a terrible attitude. Taking your oversized tongue ring out at work is a good start to properly address and speak to potential customers.
