It's been a year since I joined Orange Theory! I've seen progress and accomplished goals I didn't think I could. One of the biggest takeaway is the impact it's made on my mental health and willingness to push myself to new limits. This would not be possible without the support and guidance of the coaches and wonderful staff at OT South Mountain. A special shoutout to Coach Michelle!!! When I thought I could only handle 15lb weights, she brought me 20lb and now I get the 30s 😄. Been to a few different ones out of state and let me just say this one is the best when it comes to staff and the space 😎.

This gym has given me the best gym experience I’ve ever had. The trainers guide you through workouts that are as hard as you make them. I've done so many different types of workouts from boxing, kickboxing, circuit training, and the Big gym of death. this place ranks at the top. your cardio is being measured real time so you are accountable to the coach and to yourself (on a big screen!). The workouts alternate between the treadmill, rowing machine and circuit training with weights. the workouts are great, well-planned, the music is upbeat, and the coaches are personable and encouraging. definitely enjoy my workouts here. If you are looking for a new place that is a little different, both tough but gratifying, definitely give it a try.

I love the personal coaching, the amazing customer service, and the overall quality of the workouts. I already feel stronger with more endurance after just 2 weeks.
3/14/21 - I felt compelled to come back and modify my review. After 1 month only, I am definitely stronger and my cardiovascular endurance has improved. Initially, I power walked during the treadmill segments. Currently, I run at my own pace as I build my endurance. I have not run like this since I was in my 20's. In my early 50's, I feel like I have boundless energy. with no aches nor pain. The personal coaching is like having a personal trainer, at a fraction of the price. The coaches motivate and push participants throughout the session. The personal attention given by the coaches is encouraging and motivating. I'm amazed that the staff and the coaches know my name! I appreciate when the coaches correct my form, and when they call my name over their microphoned headset, "Good job Ratunda". I love, love, love this place! I can't say enough wonderful things about it!

5/28/21 ****Update**** - Still loving OTF! I love how effective and efficient the workouts are. I feel like I've been working out all of my life, with no real, noticeable results. In the short period of time that I've been working out at Orange Theory (about 4 months), I've love 18 lbs, and gained so much energy and confidence!

I'm from Los Angeles and have been an OTF member for nearly 10 years. This studio reminds me of what OTF used to be like back home. Taylor may be new but I took her class today and she was wonderful! So are the rest of the staff here. There's a sense of community that no longer exists back in LA and the prices are $50 less per month than LA, so if you've' ever wanted to give OTF a go, this is a wonderful location to do so.

I joined OTF South Mountain back in April. I absolutely loved it the moment I did my first class! I love that each class motivates you to compete with yourself to build endurance and strength. The head coach, Michelle has been incredibly nice and welcoming. She fixed my running and lifting postures, so I could run longer 🤗. I really enjoy the different themes and events offered in classes and special events, such as yoga and self-defense classes.

I've been a member for just over a year now. The coaches are knowledgeable and encouraging. The staff is friendly. The workouts are well rounded and they make it fun by adding themed workouts, challenges, and personal benchmarks. You sign up for your classes which really helps hold you accountable to showing up. I love OrangeTheory, it truly is a great investment in yourself.
(On a side note, a couple of low reviews mentioned unprofessional staff. There have been staff changes since then, and they are all professional and kind!)

Been coming here for 18 months and it has been such a great adventure. I came here 3 months postpartum at 220 lbs and today I am 40 lbs down and maintaining. I am more focused on toning. Michelle leads a friendly staff that is super encouraging and knowledgeable. I’ve been working out here for almost two years and it’s been a game changer. At other gyms I’ve been to you’re on your own with limited help. It so much better and fun being a part of a group class. Other members are supportive and I’ve been reaching goals little by little. It was a true OTF experience. Molly was the coach and she was great. Greeted me and got to know me before the session started. She also kept checking with me thru the session which was impressive. The appointment thru the app was a breeze and the staff at the front desk made the paperwork process easy.

I have completely gotten behind the Orange Theory concept (6+ years of OTF). I visit this studio nearly 4 times a week. The coaches are okay. The SAs however are another story. They play favorites - example - if you're their friend they won't charge you the $10 extra charge to borrow a heart rate monitor. But if you're not buddy buddy with them they will charge you even if yours dies in the middle of a workout. Not a great look when they speak to "consistency is key".

If we had a studio in Laveen I wouldn't travel to this one.

I love Orangetheory. The coaches are motivating and I love how they are willing to work with you, if you are unable to do the exact exercise. Working out is a hassle to me, but I enjoy OT. My favorite coaches are Head Coach Michelle, Brittney, Brittnee, and even Nate who recently filled in. I feel good about myself when I go in there, even when I know I don’t look and often don’t feel the best. I find the women coaches who I see weekly to be extremely supportive and I appreciate them.

I bought a heart monitor that goes around my chest. It wasn't working properly but I was refused a refund. The worker said that it was the most accurate kind and that it was only due to user error that it wouldn't work properly. Come to find out that there is a great percentage of people that have trouble with that one especially women with a dip in the middle of their chest.
I also called and asked if I could downgrade my membership. The desk attendant was less than helpful and said well I'll have to run it by Brittany first (even though it is within the contract to be able to change service with 30 days notice).
The workouts are good but the staff gives terrible customer service.

I was really excited when I joined in February and then the pandemic hit. I tried multiple times to work with them to cancel my membership as I don’t feel comfortable going into a gym setting. They were unresponsive and unprofessional To my calls and emails. Do not go to this gym unless you want to deal with people that cannot respond and give you the run around. God willing I’ll be able to finally cancel and never ever use Orangetheory again!

The South Mountain Orangetheory Fitness is one of the best studios in Arizona. The front desk staff always greets you with a warm welcome and smile and Head Coach Brittnee has a great team of coaches who will motivate and push you to reach your fitness goals.

For newcomers to Orangetheory, the company likes to say that it has the best 1 hour workout in the country. Each class is about an hour of heart based interval training that consists of a mix of cardio and strength training. The studio has screens that show your heart rate and the coach will lead you through different intensity levels that will help you burn a ton of calories. It’s not uncommon for folks to burn 500-1000 calories in each class. What stands out about South Mountain are the coaches, especially Brittnee. She is super motivating and has helped build a great sense of community at the studio. It can be intimidating stepping out of your comfort zone and joining a studio but Brittnee and her staff are extremely welcoming. She does an incredible job of coaching her members no matter what point of their fitness journey they are in: from beginners to people in tip top shape she can motivate and coach anyone. The studio does community events once a month to help foster a supportive community and it shows up in the studio. Everyone is very friendly and encouraging.

For you Orangetheory veterans you’ll appreciate the fact that South Mountain is a bigger studio than most. The rowers have plenty of room between them, the same goes for the weight floor stations. You never feel like you are cramped in the studio and there’s plenty of parking in the plaza the studio is located in. You don’t typically need to worry about waitlists at the studio either. Overall this is one of the best studios I have been to in the valley

It’s been years since I have been to a gym and was receiving sponsored posts on Facebook to come try OTF. I signed up and got a text from Austin to come in and check out the facility. I love that it's different almost every time - never repetitive or boring, and that the classes cover the full spectrum of fitness. The coaches are great - very encouraging, pleasant, helpful, and they make sure we can get the most out of every class. It's always challenging, but doable, and very personal. I also love the instantaneous feedback through the heart rate monitor and displays. It gives me a lot of control over the workout and helps me be effective. Some days you just don't feel the same and it would be difficult to know how you are doing, but the heart rate monitor and real-time feedback give accurate information and take out any guesswork.

GETTING OUT FROM THIS FITNESS CENTER IS TUFF TRYING FROM PAST FEW MONTHS STILL NOT YET DONE. MONEY AND MONEY
Reason for only 27reviews and 4.7star is every day people talk to trainers and trainers know people names, So people don’t want to make their trainers uncomfortable by giving negative review Instead, who felt bad they not giving reviews.

Why I write this review NOW: I was charged on lowered and canceled membership, and since few months I am not going to training because of health reason as they are aware of.

This is the worst fitness center I ever visited in my life, there is no option to give ZERO STAR that’s way I am giving one. TAKE THE BELOW STEPS SERIOUS READ TILL END

1, Owner or Manager (Katie) she don’t want to cancel my member ship. They will bother you at the end, my member ship was canceled and I was charged after cancellation their answer is on my request they restarted my member ship.

2, On day one when I bought heart rate monitor they said they will replace if it not works or lost, I lost my chest heart rate monitor I request for replacement they said they are giving off to me and I should pay 50$ I not payed and canceled my membership(health issue also).

3, Coming to training I agree they have good trains but they have too bad trainees also, as trine class timings are changes most of the week, for someone who want to go training at same time every day (UNLIMITED MEMBERSHIP)with good trainee is not possible.

4, Front desk people were not trained properly to deal with guests and they have no powers to cancel the membership, replacement of hart rate moniter and more they need Owner or Manager (Katie) acceptances and you will find owner rarely so process may take few days. Guys to cancel or replacement of device you should visit physically and I visited more than twice for cancelation(but not done yet from few months). I visited more than four times for hart rate moniter. And Owner is not available on phone and no auto voice mail for holidays, I call them more than 20 times.

5, Coming to account pause they are asking for medical certificate and minimum time period is 1 or 2 months, In my case I am from different country as I always prefer my family doctor (taking his help from past 10+ years) who is from my home country he don’t provide any medical certificated outside the country, so I was charged and I played. They don’t say all these stuff while joining.

6, One person(young black guy) at front desk who will also give training sessions he behave rude with me when I requested for replacement of my heart monitor.

By having a set time you know you are in and outta there quickly and the loudness and constant moving hardly gives you time to think. Love the heart rate monitoring and the fact that you are being told what to do, when and for how long. The TVs showing the actual exercise and how to do it is a nice touch so that you never have to wonder what’s next, the technique or how many reps. Every instructor has a bit of a different personality so you regularly get a fresh perspective. They are ALWAYS willing to help you or show you personally how to do a particular exercise if needed. This environment lets you work at your own pace and everyone is so engaged in what they are doing themselves that you never feel that “gotta keep up” pressure. Having the OT heart rate monitor is a plus, as it’s how your data is transferred to the TVs and the app, but they don’t make you feel as if you HAVE to have it either and your ability to have a great workout doesn’t change BUT it’s a tool in your progress. It’s amazing! The fact that you can schedule and see all your data on the app is fantastic!! LOVE LOVE LOVE OT!

Group workouts aren't for everyone, but I think everyone should give it a chance at some point. When you show up to OTF, you're putting in a solid hour of tough effort. The coaches are generally pretty good about keeping an eye on form, and every day is something new and different.

I'm an avid runner, but the summer months get too hot to spend a ton of time outdoors, and besides - this has been a great way to throw in some cross training a couple times a week!

The classes are amazing! It’s really nice coz the trainer it’s helping you during the whole class.
The trainning classes are never repeated, they are always different which makes it so much fun and different from other places and the songs are not repeated neither so you don’t get bored.
I really like that you can see in the tv your activity during the whole class because you use a heart rate monitor and at the end they send you your results.
I love to go.
