I’ve been going here for a few months and a few days ago I was in the gym for 30 mins and when I came back to my car both side passenger windows were keyed and scratched up. I called the gym to see if they can check camera footage and they didn’t seem to care at all that my vehicle was vandalized in their parking lot. Debating cancelling my membership. I’m afraid to park there now.

I just cancelled my subscription, the night staff likes to let homeless people sleep in the gym. I’ve seen them on the small training rooms and I don’t know if they are friends or something but smells bad. Plz do something with the night staff. I mean the late night.

I don’t understand how the billing works. My bank info is accurate and I have a backup payment method. For this month’s annual fee I was charged $69. For the monthly fee I was charged $35. They don’t use the backup method or notify you of an issue with billing until they’ve assigned a late fee. No one can tell me why my bank account isn’t getting charged. What’s the purpose of a backup payment method if you don’t use it, to make more money.

I've had a membership at a wide range of fitness clubs over the years and I think PF operates in that very comfortable space between too much and not enough that a lot of gyms struggle with.

Planet Fitness isnt having an identity crisis and it's not trying to be something it's not. They pass that vibe onto their members and have successfully built a culture of - "We're all here to build a better version ourselves, not to become someone else. We're not here to compete with each other, so let's be respectful, mind our business, and get the job done that we came here to do."

Its really as simple as that. The equipment is plentiful, usually newer, and it's more than enough for anyone wanting to look and feel better or for anyone training for Mr. Olympia. The tools are there, how seriously you want to take it is 100% up to you. The more you put in, the more you get out.

Today is my 450th day at this location. It’s better than a home away from home because we are all here for growth, self improvement, and positivity. Huge credit to Mngr Romeo, ASM AJ and Willie for setting the pace with greetings and engagement. Staff— featuring Sara and trainer Isabella, two multi year staffers!) and happy Trinity.—keep the operation functioning and humming. At $15/mo, cheaper than a large pizza, this is the Best Buy in Phoenix.

Large location. Good variety of clean, working equipment.

The showers were different than any other location I’ve been to. There is an area for you to change out of, then into your clothes all behind a curtain where the shower is also located behind a separate curtain. All other locations have a changing area across from the showers but you have to walk out into the open then walk into a changing stall.

Staff were friendly and busy at work keeping the gym clean.

Overall, good experience and will return when I’m back in the area.

I had a membership here and an unfortunate situation came upon in my personal life where I attempted to take my life and had to be hospitalized for weeks and couldn’t leave the house for a good while while recovering . I suffer from PTSD and depression from the military. So I was unable to cancel my membership over the phone and they kept charging me. By the time I was able to make it into the location the staff there was incredibly rude and made it seem like everything was my fault and still wanted to forces me to pay. I explained my situation and how I had not even used the membership or any of their services and was in the hospital. Still they didn’t care and said they were going to report it to my credit. Great job guys. Keep up the great work. Utterly disgraceful. I’m sure they will get this review taken down for some bs reason. So unfortunately most people won’t be able to see it. But do not use their services. They don’t care about you, they only want your money.

I recently stopped by Planet Fitness to learn more about a trial pass and potential membership, and unfortunately, my experience left me completely disheartened.
When I walked in, the facility was noticeably unclean, which immediately raised concerns about upkeep and hygiene. But even more disappointing was the reception at the front desk. The attendant barely acknowledged me, offered no greeting or warmth, and made me feel out of place — which is ironic, given Planet Fitness’s reputation for being “judgment-free.”
I had to initiate the conversation just to ask about a trial pass. Her demeanor was cold, disinterested, and not at all reflective of how any customer, let alone a potential new member, should be treated. To make matters worse, there were two staff members with cleaning gear in hand just standing around, laughing and chatting, clearly not focused on their responsibilities. The entire atmosphere felt unprofessional and uninviting.
Regardless of the low cost, this first impression made it easy to decide not to join. The lack of cleanliness and courtesy speaks volumes.

What a rude experience! Should it be of interest to you as it relates to who was at the front desk as this time -- August 4th. 10am, Phoenix, Arizona. Thomas and 40th St. location. That girl needs a talking to.

Be careful with the girl with the freakishly large glass at the front desk harassing you about the time on the massage chair. Somehow it malfunctioned and the time was set for 20 min and she.came with her dang attitude yelling at me asking if I had scanned to use the chair. Then continued to yell say that I had no right to be in that chair because she assigned it to someone else when I had just got in the chair. She should be retrained on her work skills. It happened at 1020pm so it's the rude entitled Karen that wears glasses and is working the night shift on July 30,2025. People now a day's can't be give a bit of authority because they lose their mind and become dictators. I will be contacting corporate about this location and her actions this will not go unresolved I will make sure you learn some manners. I left to avoid arguing with a childish person.

Standard Planet Fitness with Solid Amenities and Friendly Staff

This location has everything you'd expect from a standard PF: tons of cardio machines (bikes, treadmills, ellipticals, stair machines, rowers), plus a solid lineup of Hammer Strength and resistance machines.

It does have a bit of a “funky” smell—likely due to how busy it gets. Even early in the morning, the air felt a little stale, so better ventilation would help. Water fountains also have low pressure.

Pros:
➡️Full-size showers with changing areas and soap provided.
➡️Black Card Spa is well-equipped: massage chairs, hydro massage, meditation pod, stand-up and lay-down tanning booths, red light and cold therapy. Only thing missing is the hybrid red light/tanning booth.
➡️Members were respectful and early AM weights were all neatly racked—always appreciated.
➡️Standard PF free weights: dumbbells up to 75 lbs., preloaded barbells up to 60 lbs., and plenty of 45 lb. plates for Hammer and Smith machines.
➡️Shoutout to Courtney at the front desk—super friendly and welcoming!

Cons:
⬇️Needs better air circulation.
⬇️Water fountains could use an upgrade.
⬇️Like most PFs, it would be great to see more free-weight options like barbells, sleds, and squat racks.

This isn’t my normal gym I’m just here for the summer. Love how big it is and all the machines my normal gym doesn’t have. My ONLY complaint is all the kids in the evenings. I watched a few sit in a corner against the wall doing nothing but sit on their phones. Walking around in groups like this is the mall. Maybe implement a specific time for them because of how overcrowded it is. there are those of us who come to the gym to actually workout. I was there last night and only able to use the treadmill. Pls have your staff step in when they see this happening. It shouldn’t be left to other gym users to correct other people’s children. I’m all for children working on their physical health but the respect goes both ways.

I’ve been a loyal member of Planet Fitness for some time, but lately, I’ve grown increasingly frustrated with the lack of management—especially during the evening hours.

Starting around 8 PM, the gym often becomes overcrowded with unsupervised teens. Many of them are not using the equipment properly, and it’s common to see groups of three or four people gathered around a single machine, more focused on socializing than working out. It creates a chaotic and unproductive environment for those of us who are there to exercise seriously.

Planet Fitness prides itself on being a “Judgment Free Zone,” but that shouldn’t mean a free-for-all with no structure or oversight. It’s beginning to feel more like a high school hangout than a fitness center, and it’s making it difficult to justify keeping my membership.

I strongly suggest revisiting your guest and teen access policy—especially for nighttime hours. A policy requiring members under 21 to be accompanied by someone 21 or older after a certain hour could go a long way in restoring the gym’s welcoming and professional atmosphere.

I hope management takes this feedback seriously, because I truly believe Planet Fitness can do better.

Honestly I think you guys need to do more policing after 5pm. Lot of younger folk who sit on phones between sets for minutes+ at a time. I know you guys are doing your best and are limited in what you can say to folks, but a lot of these 5pm+ people don’t even work all day. I just called this location to cancel my membership because it is my home gym. I have been paying but not using it for years. I moved 1300 miles away from this location. The person who handled my call was so rude from the second he answered. He told me I had to come in person (not happening since I’m 1300 miles away) or mail a letter. This is insane in 2025 that you can’t do something online. It’s just a tactic to make it too difficult to cancel you just don’t and keep paying.

Seriously? Myself and 2 friends were all on the treadmills and we got a complaint from a staff member that we were talking too loud? We absolutely were not, and most everyone around had earbuds in. I would have canceled my membership but I will lose my $10 price and the ability to bring my teen here in the summer for free. Absolutely ridiculous. We were not loud, laughing or being inconsiderate or rude in the least! When I had the Black card and used to use the message beds and chairs, there were loud people on their phones in there! My spot for years + love the place. There’s only so much difference between all PF locations.

Only reason for 3/5 is that this is by far THE busiest location (irrespective of time) out of the over 40 that I’ve been to around the US. Not sure what they can do about it besides opening up another location somewhere close enough, but it definitely sucks to be there anytime on a weekday outside of like 10a-3p which most can't do

Sunday evening around 5:30pm I first entered the club to use the restroom and planned to return to my car to gather my gym outfit. Melinda, at the front desk, asked if I was planning to work out. I thought that was an odd question. I said yes and she told me slides (the shoes I walked in with) are not allowed on the equipment. I told her my shoes were in my car and I was just running in to use the restroom. She then threatened to have me leave if she caught me on the equipment with my slides - I thought that was a non-customer friendly exchange. When I walked into the restroom area, I found the entire locker room a mess. There was trash overflowing and the floors were dirty. I decided not to use the gym today due partly to the odd communication but especially the filthiness.

Sunday, Dec 22 2024; @ 3975 THOMAS RD IN SCOTTSDALE AZ, LOCATION, the two young girls who worked the front desk approximately 6pm, were unwelcoming/unfriendly with very little positive energy. In addition, were unable to assist me with a small issue that I had. Just completely inadequate for a customer service position, in Scottsdale no less! PF, PLEASE HIRE PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY LIKE ASSISTING GUESTS, "LIKE TO SMILE" AND ARE ACTUALLY GRATEFUL TO EVEN HAVE A JOB. Shuffle through your resumes and find better people OR increase your interview criteria. Im strongly considering cancelling my membership, as this was not the 1st dissappointment.

I have to come here cause it’s the closest location to the airport where I work. There is always a different person working the front desk, some more present or polite than others. Lots of times I don’t feel like I get the customer service that I expect when I come here. Also the floor in the showers is always dirty. I saw a girl cleaning the other day dragging her feet. Watch your bank account. They charged me $25 twice for the month of November. I called and they gave me a refund for one of the charges. A few days later another charge came out of my account for $40: the $25 again + a late fee. Talked to the manager and he said he would talk to billing. The system apparently thought that I didn’t pay because of the refund on the double charge. A couple of days later I stopped in to check on the status because it is still not back in my account. The manager was rude and unhelpful, and tried to tell me I was wrong about the billing.. but “they would process the refund anyway.” I have proof of the charges on my statement - not a good look for management.

I came from NYC and the Planet Fitness out there are smaller with less gym equipments. I canceled my membership and join Blinks gym in NYC. Once I moved to Arizona I joined Planet Fitness again and I am impressed with this Fitness. This gym has all the equipment I seek. I never knew Planet Fitness had all these gym equipments. It's a clean gym and you can't beat the 24 hours in business. The staff are amazing! They deserve raises!

I am in from 6pm til someday 9pm, I'll go out to my sprinter and return at 1am - 3am and each time, he'll clean the shower for someone if they ask, the stalls if they ask, the sink area..
That's what I appreciate.

This is a mediocre gym but it is priced right.

Price: You really can't get a better deal in terms of price. PF is priced right in line with most of the low-cost big box gyms (i.e. EOS, Vasa, etc.) However, you do get what you pay for.

Cardio: This PF is good for cardio. They have a wide variety of treadmills, ellipticals, stair climbers, etc. The machines are middle of the road in terms of quality but they get the job done.

Strength Training: This is where this PF suffers. First, the machines are often in disrepair and it takes multiple weeks before machines are repaired. (For example, the leg curl machine, one of the cable towers, and one of the smith machines are currently inoperable, and have been inoperable for over a month).

This normally wouldn't be that big of a deal, but since the gym simply does not have a lot of strength training equipment in the first instance, it can be frustrating. Furthermore, the gym does not use its space wisely. Most of the gym floor is dominated by cardio equipment, however, it seems that the strength training portion of the gym is consistently getting more use (i.e. the smith machines are almost always occupied, same goes with any leg press machines, and cable towers). The gym also has this "30-minute workout section" that isn't used often and is an awkward space that would be better served by adding more equipment for general use.

Finally, there is just not enough equipment. I know it is hard to add more machines, but the gym could easily add more dumbbells, kettlebells, and plates. These free weights are often in use or otherwise strewn about the gym making them hard to find (which really isn't PF's fault... re-rack your weights!). Still, wouldn't hurt to toss some more equipment around. Add another stack of dumbbells, triple the kettlebell selection, and add more plates (it can be hard to find 45lb plates for the smith machines or leg press machines).

Otherwise, it is very clean and quiet. This PF can probably get away with more than normal because it is really the only big box gym in the area, and if budget is your primary concern, you really don't have another option in this area.

I joined two weeks ago, after moving to the Phoenix area. I go 5 times per week. I complained about the ONLY water fountain there not working. In the two weeks, it has not been fixed, if fact now not only is it hot water, it doesnt come out more than a 1/2 inch. Terrible service there, out of paper towels, broken down euipment, and too many people sitting on equipment surfing on their cellphones. No management and no attention to the basics. TERRIBLE PLACE - don't join unless you only want to sit on the equipment all day and surf your cellphone.

Still miffed it's not 24/7 anymore (it's not even technically "24/5," as they claim). They periodically replace good machines with newer, worse machines (and end up with fewer of the ones people use). The last year or so there have always been a few things broken that just stay broken for a long long time. Even after going frequently for many years, I still had some annoying interactions with overly finicky staff. Didn't feel very customer-centric. I don't ask for much for $10 a month, but I still don't feel like this PFit always delivers.

It would be great if they told you before you went that they don’t accept the one day free pass from the website. I went in there the other day two hours before they closed and tried to use the one day pass just to see how the gym was because we just moved to the area. They told me that they didn’t accept them in which I replied with “okay how much is a one day pass?”. She told me it was $10, which I paid because I already came to the gym and was ready to workout, and then proceeded to take 30 minutes because she had no idea how to even process it or to sign me up. After finally wasting 30 minutes I had a little under a hour and a half to do a complete workout in which I paid $10 for. Plus I couldn’t really do much because of their very limited machines and excess amount of people. I will never come back and definitely recommend mountain side or vasa for a little bit more a month because it is 100% worth it.

4 stars for layout, equipment variety, overall cleanliness. -2 stars for the most rude front desk girl I've encountered in among all the PFs I've visited over the years.

My husband and I accompanied a friend to the Thomas and 40th street location on 6-22-23 Saturday afternoon. Our friends local gym had closed and sold her membership to Planet Fitness. PF gave her 3 central phoenix options to visit so we wanted to check the facilities out. I've had a black card membership for years and my husband has always been my guest- however we'd never been to this location. This was the 3rd of the 3 locations and the staff at the other ones were much more welcoming and helpful than this location.

This particular front desk girl was rude from the start with a lecture on how sandals and flip flops aren't allowed. Umm My friend had on a nice blouse, long skirt, and sandals. We already explained we were there to look at the facility- clearly not to work out. Much more happened which I don't have time to vent about right here. After a bunch of attitude I asked for this girls name and she gave me the managers number, daring me to complain. So this is complaint#1, and the manager will get the rest of the story.

Customer service people need to be trained to treat people with a little respect. Or at least hire customer service people that don't generally dislike people. I'm not sure if there was some malicious compliance to management policy or this girl was having a bad day but either way it was unacceptable.

A staff member at the front desk was rude and it didn’t sit well with me at all I just asked a simple question I haven’t been to this gym in quite sometime I wasn’t sure where something was so I asked. Unprofessional I’m a local business owner in the Valley and I wouldn’t appreciate my employees being rude to customers no matter what not sure if I will be back.

I really like coming to Planet Fitness to do my fitness Regime. I have been coming to the Planet Fitness @ 3975 E. Thomas Rd., since January of 2024. I find that doing my fitness regime is easy to accomplish as it is a No Judgement Zone fitness center. The staff here are quite friendly and are willing to answer any questions one might have. I would definitely recommend this Planet Fitness for ones workout center.

Not a bad little gym, especially for the cost. Normally I go in on my lunch break. It is not normally busy and I can always seem to get on equipment when needed. The staff has been friendly but could be a little more helpful in regards to the tour and maybe advice on exercise.

Dropped my rating due to their ideological push into their business model.

It's not 24 hours. It closed at 9. I wasn't allowed to use the tanning bed after 830, but they did let me have 7 minutes of a 10 minute hydro massage. .

Signed up and CANCELED within 30 minutes of joining… I signed up and ran on treadmill for 30 minutes and after decided to do a 7 minute tan. The manager told me I needed to download the app to use tanning beds. I asked if he could look up my membership number for just this first time since I was on a time restriction for work and didn’t have time since I just joined their gym 30 minutes ago. He said no! and I asked if he could make an exception and said no! I asked to cancel my membership after only being signed up for 30 minutes and he was more than glad to cancel (no attempt to save the business or make any attempt to keep a customer). Manager here is not looking out for the best interest of the business he operates but rather his ego.
