I do medical transportation was in uniform. Kindly asked if I could use the restroom at this location and was told No because I am not a member. Smh. Based on that I would never be a member. Much of the equipment is worn and you can see cracks in the vinyl. The Smith machines are older, so no timer or counters. The locker was messy. It took four tries before finding a non-filthy. Staff seems more interested in their phones

It’s a nice clean gym, and very quiet. Folks here are respectful, put their weights away, and staff is helpful.

Unfortunately, there’s a persistent lack of benches, and it seems like more disappear every week! When I started here, there were 6-8 flat and incline benches in front of the mirror. Today, there are 3. There are 6 Smith machines - but half of them are missing their benches now. Where are they going? Who is running off with all the benches?

I love this gym, but I’ve had to get an additional EoS membership farther away just to be able to bench press and use free weights requiring seating in front of a mirror. I wish I didn’t, because that place is an animal house.

This particular location has nice equipment, and is clean and well-maintained overall.
However, the patrons here seem incapable of putting weights and other equipment back where they belong. It's always a crapshoot trying to find the weights you're looking for. The staff just let this slide.
If it weren't such a lazy, disorganized mess here, this would be a good location.

I have been a member of Planet Fitness on and off for years, and I am extremely unimpressed by the lack of professionalism at this location. There was a billing error made by Planet Fitness when I cancelled online, and a late fee was charged to my account without warning. Planet Fitness did not complete the auto withdrawal from my bank account on the 17th, as usual, for September’s payment, although no notice of this change in the billing procedure for my last month was listed in either of the cancellation confirmations that I received. I tried to resolve the issue numerous times over a full week, by going into the club, calling, and emailing multiple times, but only received a call back tonight from the assistant manager, after I called the club once again. He told me that both he and his boss (the manager) cannot help me, and then blamed the error that Planet Fitness made on my bank, which is blatantly untrue, since the account is still linked for auto pay. I asked who I could contact to resolve this, and he unhelpfully said I could try to speak with customer service, but that they would just send me back to the club, and no one there could help me. My experience has been very disappointing, and honestly the assistant manager wasn’t helpful or professional in the least. To tell me that management at the club can’t waive fees because corporate is “cracking down,” but then also telling me in the next breath that all decisions go through each individual club so I can’t contact corporate, is absolutely ridiculous, and makes no sense. I guess when you purchase a cheap gym membership, you can’t expect good customer service. I was always a big fan of Planet Fitness, but this has definitely soured my opinion.

I’ve been to a few locations around the valley, this one is my favorite and not just cause it’s closest to my house. It’s also the most laid back location, they don’t make you jump through a million hoops to use your black card perks, and they offer two types of massage chairs, IR machines, and tanning booths & beds. I’m sure there are other locations that do as well but so far out of 5 I’ve been to, none have had all of them. It always has a good number of people when I go in, never too many or too few. I don’t want to be the only one in the gym especially late at night and that’s never been the case- but I haven’t had to wait for a machine yet either even at peak hours. The staff is super cool, very chill. The patrons are also super cool because well, it’s Tempe. I always take the opportunity to try other locations when I’m in different areas but this remains my favorite.

I just want to give a big shout-out to Francisco! 🙌 When I couldn’t get through to the Living location or the Southside location on Baseline and Central, Francisco at the Tempe location stepped up and helped me right away. He not only answered the phone (which already meant a lot), but he also took the time to walk me through everything—where I need to go pay, how I can pay, and even how to update my home location. He was super open-minded, patient, and helpful, and made sure all my questions were resolved. Thank you, Francisco, for going above and beyond when I needed it most!

Quality air and AC. With updated shower fixtures! The PF app has great workouts, both video and written, with explinations of each movement. Love the open spaces to do my circuit exercises! I may have arrived at the locker room between cleaning schedules. I wish the locker rooms were cleaned more often. Although they were decent and well maintained, it may be the members who don't clean up after themselves very well. Front desk staff were friendly and checked me quickly. Overall, I would go back to this gym.

The males inside were so friendly & helpful. The equipment was actually clean! I appreciate that! This location has lay down tanning beds. No wait convenient location.
The only downfall is for some reason, Arizona planet fitness has the buttons disabled. I don't like feeling trapped in a tornado. At least the wind on this (room #2) was cold. Other locations around here blow hot blasting air without an option to stop it.

Outside az has better massage chairs too. I feel like the basic sit down massage chairs don't have a benefit to the muscles like the chairs outside of az. Also the beds I've experienced outside az has calming music. Another thing az equipment has disabled.

But I'm still giving 5 stars because this location is better than the surrounding locations. It's clean. Attendants are respectful. It's not ghetto like some of the others.

Update as of 5/20/2025 in response to the reply: I did bring this up to Planet Fitness staff when this occurred the morning of 5/19/2025. As my initial review stated, they were unfazed by it. Did not even apologize. It is not my responsibility to contact the manage who will most likely provide the same "service" as the staff member. I will not be returning. In fact, I will be escalating this with Tivity as my membership was with the Fitness Your Way program.

The staff are friendly, the establishment is clean, it is never busy, & it is a close walk from my home but the clientele are trash. No gym etiquette. No respect for personal space despite it being empty most of the time. This morning a white man in about his twenties carrying a plastic bag as his gym bag (obviously unhinged) walked into me because he was walking out the door while looking at his phone. I said “excuse me”. He said “Americans walk on the right” which is hilarious because I have a doctorate in American Studies. Racial profiling & discrimination. Told the front desk & they were unfazed. This is an unsafe environment.

I love going to Planet Fitness. It is close to our home, it is clean, there is a lot of equipment to choose from. I started going to PF in addition to Cardiac Rehab following my heart attack. Now that my Rehab is complete I am continuing at PF. It is definitely a no judgement zone ❤️

This place is not very busy when I go in, and I'm able to hit my routine without interruption.

3/22/25 - While I was working out today, I saw a small pile of Weights sitting on the floor with an ab bench sitting on top of them to raise one end up. It looks to me like it is an accident waiting to happen and a lawsuit in the making. When I presented it to the light-haired scraggly bearded young man at the help desk and asked him if he was aware of it he slowly looked at me and shook his head up and down to indicate yes he knows of it. I was amazed. Maybe he has no clue that this setup is an accedent and lawsuit waiting to happen. If I could get a hold of the manager, I would let them know this situation, and that he is not someone they want presenting them and watching after his business. He is either careless or clueless. Either way, I would not have him working for me without training and a strong indication that his attitude has changed. So, be aware of working out here. You might find some danger in their equipment set up.

I recently walked into this Planet Fitness location and asked about switching my home club to this one, as I’d be in the area more often than my current home club. The staff member at the front desk directed me to transfer it directly through my Planet Fitness account. After trying this a few times without success, a new staff member (who later turned out to be the manager, Selma) came over to assist. She tried walking me through the app to see if there was a way to transfer my home club, but we still couldn’t find a solution.

Selma then advised me to call my home club in Gilbert to make the switch. I tried calling twice, but I couldn’t get an answer. I returned to Selma and asked for alternative solutions. She offered me two options: pay a $5 day fee to use this location or upgrade to a Black Card membership. I explained how inconvenient this process was and declined both options, as I just wanted to transfer my home club. When I asked if there were any other solutions, she said no.

Feeling frustrated with the lack of assistance, I told her I would cancel my membership. Her response was simply, “That’s fine, go ahead.” Overall, I was extremely disappointed with the lack of customer service and care from management. For a simple request like transferring my home club, the process was far more complicated than it should have been, and there was no effort made to find a solution that would retain my business.

I ended up canceling my membership, and I will no longer be using Planet Fitness moving forward. If they had made the process easier and more accommodating, I likely would have stayed a loyal customer.

I went into the gym personally years ago to cancel my membership when I switched locations for my work and would not be going by this gym again. They did not cancel my membership and continued to charge me small amounts for years until I finally noticed they charged my account 50 this morning. I can’t stand thieves I do not understand why this business should be treated any different. I want my money back, there should be a record that I haven’t been to this place in years. Tthe gym is clean. There are a lot of machines -even during the busiest hour I can still get my full workout in. Almost every member wipes down the machines after use. There is a general feeling of teamwork when I’m working out, even though I’m going to the gym alone I know that almost everyone in there is also there to better themselves.

We’ve all heard about how planet fitness is a trash gym for non serious fitness failures. But I decided to give it a try. After a couple months I started to think , okay not so bad actually , has most of equipment I typically use , I’m not trying to power lift. Usually less crowded and everything was fine.

Until, today after a few months of jumproping as part of my warm up , I was told that they do not allow jump roping at there gym and was forced by the shrimps security guard to stop?!? Seems strange. So I asked to cancel my membership ship and they refused to cancel my membership. Now I’m stuck with a gym membership to a fitness center that for some reason prohibits one of the most tried and true , basic exercises that has existed for hundreds of years.

This was my experience by I implore you to avoid this gym as if it’s not jumping roping it’s sure to be some other bone headed non-sensical rule to diminish your fitness success and likely get you stuck paying for a gym membership ship that, being honest with yourself, you probably weren’t going to continue using by March anyways

I wrote a bad review after coming here for the first time. Then I decided it was a bit unfair. As a former professional sportsman, I should have waited more to understand clearly what this location is. I am writing to fix it.

I am a member of another location but I like more being here than others. It is kinda having old-school gym people. And the most important part is that if you know how to do it; everything here is enough to build an almost perfect body. I am just talking about the equipment and atmosphere part. Building a body is a long and comprehensive process and this location is one of the essentials. Especially I like the rope machine which is newly set and is my favorite for chest and arm workouts.

Five stars because where else can you pay $10 a month to feel like a Greek god and get free bagels? Planet Fitness is the only gym where I can bench press three reps, collapse dramatically, and still be cheered on like I’m competing in the Olympics. The Judgment Free Zone is real—I could probably show up in a Snuggie and no one would blink. The equipment is top-notch, the staff is friendly, and the purple color scheme makes me feel like royalty while I awkwardly attempt to use the elliptical. Bonus: the Lunk Alarm adds a level of excitement because nothing says ‘good workout’ like the fear of accidentally dropping a dumbbell and getting publicly shamed. Highly recommend!

This Planet Fitness location seems to be struggling quite a bit. They're constantly out of something throughout the entire gym (disinfectant or paper towels) and multiple machines have been out of order for weeks, including an entire pulley machine (3 stations). This location is very special! Everytime I am here the place is cool, clean and friendly.
I am especially impressed with the showers and woman locker room areas. The design is with comfort and privacy in mind. Each shower are has its own conjoined private dressing area right next to the shower stall. There is plenty of hot water for a good clean experience. There is even a small 2 level bench area to set your change of clothes etc just off the shower.
The Flagstaff location lacks for privacy in such a heavily visited area. The privacy level for the Tempe, Mc Clintock location is a small step above Flagstaff.

The gym itself is fine. There are no unassisted squat racks or power lifting weights. I often have to wait for free weights. Not a great option for weight lifters.

I have tried other locations which are fine but I like this one the most because it is always the cleanest and has the newest machines.

Sucks they took points away when I tried to exchange for a protein shake. Didmt even kept the points gained to exchange them. Tell corporate that's not right.

I should be able to use everything, including the showers while the place is open. To close the showers 30m before is ridiculous. What about the people who need to shower after??
