I've worked with many trainers over the years, and Jerrod at StrengthLab is by far the best. His years of education and experience in the fitness industry ensures I have a great training session every time I see him. Jerrod cares about how I move my body outside of our sessions, and encourages his clients to find active hobbies they can do together like hiking and biking groups. His encouragement with gentle accountability has helped me make better choices in my life when I am away from his gym. Jerrod has changed not just my body composition and improved my strength, he has changed the way I view and prioritize my physical fitness. I only wish I had started working with him sooner!

Jerrod is amazing! He gets to know you as an individual and what your strengths and weaknesses are. I haven’t worked out successfully in many years due to some pretty major back injuries. In my head I was still a 19 year old athlete, but trying to work out that way just caused a lot of pain and injury. Jerrod taught me that there is still an athlete inside me, that I can work out and do hard things, but still make sure to protect my injuries. Thank you so much Jerrod!! I’m in my 60s and began training two times a week at Strengthlab in Ahwatukee in the spring of 2021, after some serious injuries and several years of being sedentary. My results have been remarkable. Everything in my life has become easier — from carrying boxes of books to major housework to just moving around and enjoying life. Jerrod’s ability to customize a strength-training regimen to meet my specific needs has enabled me to become stronger, increased my stability and has helped me to better understand how to work within my limitations and exceed beyond. His vast knowledge of kinesiology allows him to modify exercises in order to strengthen areas of weakness and avoid aggravating areas of previous injury/sensitivity. Jerrod is by far THE BEST trainer I have ever had!! I agree with everyone else who has written a review. He is extremely knowledgeable about what he does from nutrition and physiology to developing customized workouts to help you reach your goals no matter what stage of life or fitness level you're at. Jerrods energy and drive are contagious. He never stops learning and passing that knowledge on to his clients. Jerrod is a man who walks a different path. His own path. He’s believes in continuous learning and growth and lives his life accordingly. And the wonderful part of this for all of us who are under his tutelage is that he shares his expertise! As an endurance athlete with substantial background in martial arts, he’s knowledgeable, ferociously dedicated to his discipline and clients; he motivates us to our best potential. And he still practices what he preaches, he trains and continues to read—he is still perfecting his craft. I’ve worked with him for a few months now and have learned more about how to balance my desire to work hard against a logical progressive growth plan. I’ve learned more about how my muscles/tendons work, breakdown and grow than in any previous training experience. And every session is different! He knows a dozen ways to work the same muscle groups, so you’re never bored, and your muscles never get ‘comfortable’. And the icing on the cake (not that we eat cake…), is that you laugh and smile as you push yourself to limits you didn’t expect. Jerrod is a highly skilled personal trainer above and beyond all other trainers that I have worked with. He knowledge base is extensive. Years ago I trained with him for the Grand Canyon. I have very weak knees and he focused on getting them strong. I was able to hike in and out of the Canyon with no knee pain! Recently Jerrod has worked with me on regaining my strength and diet after a health set back. His training is very well rounded for both mind and body. I’ve hired several trainers over the years but StrengthLab is the best! I'm over 40, got "too busy" to exercise and let my physical health get away from me. I bought myself two sessions a week with Jerrod in January to get back in the habit. I haven't stopped. My body has transformed. My muscles are stronger and more defined and they look like they belong on my body. In addition, my posture has improved dramatically – I stand taller and sit up straighter. Nagging aches and pains I used to have are gone. My energy day-to-day is much better too.

There is no pressure or insanity to anything Jerrod does. He meets you at your fitness level and you go from there. A typical session for me is 30 minutes of differing circuits on his weight machines and free weights. I like to box and often we'll do that too. It always feels comfortable, quick and effective.

More than anything, Jerrod really walks the talk. He has deep knowledge about exercise and nutrition based on 30 years experience and all the latest research. He's seen it all and has a passion for getting results the RIGHT way. The guy enjoys what he’s doing and it is infectious. He truly wants you to have fun and live a healthy and balanced life. I have worked out and 'trained' my entire life. I'm fairly well educated when it comes to the gym and have even worked as a trainer at different times of my life. However, I have never accomplished so much as I have when working with Jerrod. His philosophies and concepts regarding a 'whole health' approach is by far the most effective program that I have ever been a part of, particularly as I am no longer a 'spring chicken'. Jerrod is able to get into my psyche and really work with me on a level that has changed my mindset in a positive and productive manner. Jerrod is a fantastic personal trainer and has become a bit of a mentor to me. My wife and I first met him as a friendly neighbor when we moved in down the street from him in 2009. He was always very approachable, but never tried to "sell us" or push us into using his services... I don't think I would have even known that he was a personal trainer if it wasn't for the advertisement on his truck. I actually approached him when I started to note my weight was getting out of control - something I have dealt with all my life. His whole plan with evidence based nutrition guidelines and work out routines are very refreshing - he isn't trying to force products down your throat, like most trainers who "happen" to sell and make profits off of the very thing that swear you need. I noticed changes right away... And not only this, but I developed a very good friendship with him. He isn't pushy, but very approachable and you get the sense he truly wants you to become a healthier and happier individual. Sadly, due to work, my family had to move away. I kept in touch with Jerrod over the years, remaining friends. Again, I wasn't just a client that he quit contacting just because I wasnt paying him anymore. in fact, I don't think you can even say he has "clients" because he really treats you like his personal friend - regardless if money is involved or not.
This last year my weight had gone up again, to an all time high of 245. I asked Jerrod in June 2015 if there was anyway he could help me get back into gear with my fitness and nutrition long distance (I live in Minnesota now!) - he told me "no problem!" And for a small monthly fee, for his time, Jerrod designed weekly workout routines and outlines for nutrition guidelines. We kept in regular contact by text, email and sometimes phone calls. This really helped because this kept me accountable to my workout assignments, along with my diet. I am happy to say I have lost over 50lbs in 7 months and I am now 193 - which is a weight I haven't seen since junior high. It was all because of Jerrod. I couldn't have done it without him. His advice, mentoring and overall friendship is invaluable. All I can say is - If he can do this for me while I'm 3000 miles away, just think what he can do if you're lucky enough to be able to train with him personally there in Phoenix

StrenghtLab rocks! Jerrod Maguire (the owner) is the fricking man! He knows health and fitness as well if not better than anybody. Not only that but he practices what he preaches and is living proof of what he teaches. If you like playing games and being fed a bunch of B.S. then StrengthLab probably is NOT for you. Jerrod is a straight shooter and tells you how it is. He'll call you out if necessary but doesn't hesitate to give praise either. Absolutely love the guy! More importantly, his techniques are extremely effective. He doesn't believe in torturing your body like a lot of trainers do. He thinks long-term and really works to help you change your lifestyle. He puts a ton of thought and consideration into what he has you do. He calls it intuitive training. No one-size-fits-all crap here. I'm on my second round with StrengthLab now. I'm an endurance athlete and Jerrod has worked with me both in-season (gearing up for the Boston Marathon) and now off-season (increasing my overall strength and muscle balance) and has taught me SO MUCH! I'm sure I'll continue working with Jerrod for years to come!

I live in Phoenix 6 months of the year. For me flexibility and adaptive training are essential to my workouts. I am 71 years old and have severe stenosis and chronic nerve pain. I could just sit at home and do nothing. Instead I chose to start working with Jerrod about 4 years ago.
Jerrod is the perfect trainer. He is so knowledgeable about the mind, body and soul. He wants what's best for the individual that allows them to function at the highest level they are capable of. When a particular exercise is uncomfortable, he knows 3 or more others to take its place and still target the same areas(s).
