I had been looking for a new yoga studio in the Phoenix metro area after my favorite studio closed. Surya Yoga is the first studio that has given me that same sense of belonging. I love the wide variety of classes offered, from Vinyasa to Slow Flow and Yin. All of the teachers are wonderful and Amy has such a warm and welcoming presence. Safe to say I have found my new yoga home!

I practice yoga in Canada, where I live, but I often visit Arizona for family reasons. Finding a studio where I can practice while traveling—knowing that the level, the teachers, and the space will all be to my liking—is amazing. Surya is all that and more… truly an oasis in the desert. I love being able to take classes and continue my practice in the Midwest! Highly recommended.

I have practiced at several yoga studios and Surya is the most authentic, it truly is a mind, body and spirit practice. The owner Amy as well as all the teachers understand this and teach the practice to incorporate all aspects and meet you where you are in the mat, to take you on a journey of physical and mental growth, which is the ultimate expression of good health. There are a variety of classes, workshops, and retreats. The teachers are caring, knowledgeable about yoga, and welcome you to their community. I have left each class rejuvenated and wanting more.

I started practicing yoga at Surya three years ago, and from the very first day, I felt at home. It’s a place that brings peace, and its community is AMAZING!. Amy, the owner, is not just any studio owner—she’s a friend and is always looking for ways to help Surya and its community grow and improve.
All the teachers are excellent, and each one brings their own personality and style to their classes. I love Surya.

This is my favorite yoga studio for sound healing, yin and flow yoga classes/workshops. It’s so nice to have “not hot yoga” since it’s already hot enough in the desert. The instructors are all fabulous and down to earth. It’s always a great experience. I’m here at least once a week even with my busy schedule.

WOW. Stumbled across this place in ClassPass after trying several other yoga studios. This please is THE BEST if you're trying to get away from the "hollywood" commercial yoga (no offense) and work more intentionally on your practice. Amy is intuitive and I love, LOVED, the hands-on corrections. Will absolutely be back and will tell all my friends!

I can't say enough good things about Surya Yoga! From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is so welcoming. The instructors are truly top-notch, especially Amy and Irene. When I first started, I had constant hip and lower back pain and was a regular at the chiropractor, barely able to touch my toes. After years of consistent practice, particularly in their Vinyasa classes, my stress is better managed, I haven't needed a chiropractor in years, and my flexibility, mobility, and strength have improved dramatically. They've truly helped me advance my practice. Beyond the physical benefits, Surya Yoga also has a fantastic community where I've met some amazing people. It's more than just a studio; it's a supportive sanctuary!

I’m relatively new to Surya and it’s already transformed my life for the better. If you’re looking for a studio that’s authentic, kind, supportive, healing-oriented and led by heart-centered folks who genuinely care about everyone who walks through the door, this is the place!

I love that there are no mirrors. It encourages turning the focus inward. This isn’t a place of ego. It’s a space to let go of what no longer serves you and lean into physical and emotional alignment and well-being.

Each class offers something meaningful, whether it’s mindful movement, intentional breathwork or simply the chance to reconnect with yourself. There’s a sense of community here that’s welcoming and nonjudgmental, no matter your experience level. I could go on… the point is, I love this place!

Surya Yoga is the best!

I can’t say enough wonderful things about this studio. I started practicing at Surya Yoga during COVID, taking outdoor classes in the breezeway—and I’ve been hooked ever since. Not only do I love the physical workout, but it’s the “work in” that truly keeps me coming back.

From the moment you walk in, you’re met with warmth, positivity, and a genuinely welcoming community; I made some awesome friends there and look forward seeing them there weekly.

The instructors are incredible—knowledgeable, encouraging, and deeply inspiring. Amy, Irene, Hamel, Jeanne, and Ryan, just to name a few, are amazing in their unique ways.
Every class leaves me feeling stronger, calmer, and more grounded.

So don't hesitate, whether you’re new to yoga or have years of experience, Surya Yoga is an absolute gem. Hope to see you there!

I've lived in Scottsdale for 7 years now and this is my favorite yoga studio! I'm not into super hot yoga which seems to be what is popular here and this studio I was delighted when I found because it is more traditional yoga. I ALWAYS leave feeling better. I've never had a teacher I didn't love. Classes are always different. Also, the owner Amy is the kindest most wonderful human. I left my very valuable engagement ring and wedding band at her studio after a horrible day and she directly texted me, kept it safe with her to make sure no one took it to return it to me in person the next day. Grateful beyond words. This yoga studio is fantastic. Highly recommend

Snake oil salesmen who sold me on the idea of a magical crystal bowl when I was at a vulnerable state (13k home repairs, thousands more coming in from hospital bills for cancer removal just weeks ago and reconstruction surgery and IVF bills). Hoping for some light in that tunnel so bought an outrageously priced crystal bowl (nearing 2k). Not told at the time of purchase they don't take refunds which I only asked for when I was emailed after leaving the studio for more money for a case they originally said was part of the purchase.

Awkward and brought me right back down to earth and asked to bring both the bowl and case back for refund. Disclosing my vulnerabilities and how the refund would help with my home and health issues/bills.

Only then told they don't do refunds and it's my fault I didn't read their website. Though I was physically in the studio for a class and why would I know that. Also shamed for my character and not being a "part of their community" for not taking on the extra monetary cost burden of their mistake of the case being part of the almost $2,000 bowl purchase.

Tried speaking to the owner who was the one who was aggressive, said it was my fault I didn't ask about their refund policy or read their website while physically being in their class and shamed for holding the studio accountable and being told I wasn't "part of their community" by holding them accountable for not disclosing the refund policy. Which I didn't even ask for originally when I realized how I got taken for a ride. It was only afterwards they emailed me trying to siphon more money out of me that I requested it as I knew i had been had at that point.

She originally expected for me to pay for their inability to handle themselves professionally and obviously personally/emotionally.

Not being a lackadaisical person or scammed easily, I had a few too many emotionally toiling events lately and scammed right out of 2k. No light or love in this studio.

But reading this review, I'll do you and the studio and owner, Amy, a favor so you read the fine print...

No refunds!! But poorly managed angry calls from the owner. Let it be known, if you don't disconnect from your phone and see this review or their website prior to stepping into their studio and read No Refunds, you're not a part of their community. Her community she tried to exclude me from by those words when someone from the true yoga community would admit their mistake in nondisclosure. Not blame the client who has massive bills, one pertaining to cancer treatment and reconstruction, and just in an initial vulnerable swindled state hoping for some light and positivity. Even in the form of an overpriced bowl.

I love this studio; the space is wholesome, friendly, and allows one to sink into the goodness of themself. I found Surya right after my old studio closed because of the pandemic and it has been a haven for me ever since. The minute I walk into the studio, a calming peace overcomes me, and I feel as if I am in the most comfortable safe space ever. I appreciate a space that focuses on the whole person - mentally, spiritually, physically, and my instructors are all amazing - Hemal, Irene, Jenna, Caroline, Corina, Taylor, and there are more wonderful and caring teachers who truly want the best for you. Amy has done a fantastic job of creating a yoga community where people feel so welcome. There are so many different classes offered that I can go every day (and often I do!) and experience all types of yoga, including vinyasa flow, hatha, kundalini, sound healing, stretching, yin and more.

I've been a regular at Surya for two years now, and it's helped my practice immensely. As a beginner I benefitted right away from Surya's great instruction in fundamental yoga techniques. I also appreciate Surya’s strong grounding in the traditions of yoga, which is helping me to gain more and more out of my practice.
Surya offers excellent instructors with different teaching styles, in a beautiful and inviting studio. Classes are small (most with 10-20 people) and there are lots of classes and events to choose from. The members are friendly and welcoming, and the owner treats everyone like family. Try Surya if you want to begin or to grow your yoga practice, you'll be glad you did!

Surya Yoga is by far the best yoga studio I’ve ever tried. It’s a welcoming and nurturing space, and it fosters a great community that you feel a part of from your first time there. My favorite classes are vinyasa flow, which is a great workout as well as being mentally calming (at least for me). I haven’t taken a class or met a teacher that I haven’t liked. In every class, you’ll find a mix of beginner and proficient yogis, and you won’t feel out of place, even if it’s your first class. This place and the amazing teachers got me through a really tough time, and has played a key part in my emotional and spiritual journey. I would recommend this studio to everyone, definitely beginners because it is such a comfortable place to begin your yoga journey.

This humble, welcoming studio and teachers are the real-deal. As a yoga-certified teacher myself, I can say the studio owner (Amy) is 100% committed to hiring highly- trained, experienced, and compassionate teachers. I love that there's a great mix of high-energy flow and restorative/healing/sound classes to choose from for whatever you're feeling that day. Amy has created a unique and beautiful space that feels immediately welcoming. It's quiet, calming and filled with local artists' work - even a little yoga library to peruse on your way out. Moreover, the community here is kind and respectful. If you've been out of practice a while, never started but always wanted to, or are a seasoned yogi - check this place out and you won't regret it. You may have just found your new home.
