FYI EVERYONE THIS GYM IS CLOSED.

This was a basic gym - nothing fancy or spectacular, but it had what I needed to get started on my strength training journey a few years back and get in the big lifts to make progress. I went at least 4 times a week and was satisfied.

But the way they have handled this closure is insane. Not telling people. Then I get an email at 3pm on May 28 from them saying they’re closing and that the last day to use the gym is May 27… ok, thanks, you’re a day late and some notice would have been nice.

The letter informed that the membership would be rolling over to one of three planet fitness locations, and if you wanted to cancel it said you could do so by email.

I sent an email to the address provided and was informed that they do not handle cancellations and that I would need go into planet fitness and physically fill out paperwork to cancel with them there.

Um… ???? How is this how you handle things? They’re making it as hard and as inconvenient as possible to cancel with them. I wasn’t even interested in a planet fitness membership. Way to go out on a sour note.

This is another gym that will not let members cancel, and they continue billing you after you cancel.

I physically went into the gym in December of 2023 and cancelled my membership with one of the front desk employees. She orally confirmed that my membership was cancelled. At the time, I did not think to get "evidence" of the cancellation. I assumed that this employee's word was trustworthy and YouFit would honor my cancellation. I was wrong.

They continued billing me and never cancelled my membership. When I noticed this, I contacted YouFit via email, and they responded saying that I never cancelled, and since I didn't have any "evidence" they would continue billing me and not issue me a refund. You will see other reviews of this gym with members having the same experience.

Worst customer service I've ever experienced. I needed to cancel my membership for documented medical reasons and was met with not only resistance to accommodating my request but outright refusal. Outsourcing your customer service to an offshore team that does not have the ability to engage in an objective and productive conversation or understand the nuances of a customer’s unique experience is beyond disappointing. Customers are actively prevented from speaking to anyone with authority and team members in the gym apparently possesses zero authority to assist customers with administrative needs. Horrible business practice that reflects so poorly on this business.

I was a member of the Scottsdale location - that closed down so this location illegal stole my financial information and continued to charge me for 1 year and a half after the closure. The people are nice and helpful and the gym is clean. It was remodeled lately, not sure why cause it was fine. They moved it all around, took out some stuff and brought in new machines but some of them aren't as nice as the ones they had - no fans ot tvs on the treadmills! There are 4 very popular machines that they had several of but now only 1 each. Why? So now we wait on those while all those others just sit there. It is a good gym but they should ask the people who use it and not the people selling the machines what to get. Obviously.

Do not join this gym. They closed my location - I cancelled my membership and then they sent me to collections for $104. Their corporate customer service is terrible. Basically saying that they won't do anything and that I have to pay this incorrect balance of have a missed payment on my credit report. They have NO CARE OR CONSIDERATION for their customers. This is an absolutely terrible company. Never join any of these gyms!

I’ve been working out at all kinds of different types of gyms, from 10 dollar to 150 dollar a month and have a very good understanding of what it’s all about. I find myself looking at the reviews and shocked how negative they are.
Yes their south Scottsdale location did close but the next available one is not too far away, and I’m certain they had no true intentions of closing their South Scottsdale location. They also send a separate email stating how sorry they are that they have to close down. The YouFit on Bethany is incredibly clean, I always see the EVS team cleansing everything- I work in a hospital I know how important being clean is. The entire team is genuine and friendly in the most pleasant way. I have talked to nearly every staff for years it’s always the same positive lovely energy. The equipment is wonderful, I’m currently recovering from surgery and they are able to accommodate me completely. People mind their own business and workout- as a gym should feel like. People put their weights back and clean their equipment. Yes canceling a membership does cost a fee but it is 100% shared information before signing up, and for people that didn’t pay attention to this detail you cannot blame the company for this. Keep up the work YouFit, they remain true to their name. You definitely fit!

UPDATE: I think they have really improved on the place since I’ve been here! All of the staff is friendly, patient, and NOT pushy. I haven’t received random calls trying to sell me anything, no weird hours, and the whole place has been renovated! They have new machines and I believe a brand new staff. They even have classes now! I would definitely recommend this place.

PREVIOUSLY: Honestly it’s pretty mid. The manager is really pushy when it comes to personal training or just spending more money overall even when you’ve said no for the 10th time. They’ve called me multiple times about training sessions even after I declined, then called me again thinking I was someone else. The rest of the staff is fine especially the guy with dreds he’s pretty cool. The machines and prices are fine. It’s clean enough but I think it could be better especially during a pandemic. They often close an hour- an hour and a half before closing with no warning. Overall, if you’re on a budget like me then this works. P.S. they offered free stuff like a towel/shirt to leave a 5 star review so there is a high probability that the 5 stars here were to get free stuff.

If they close down the club near you, they will just assign you a new club, regardless of how far it is from you. Then they charge you to cancel it. I went through multiple rounds of trying to get this resolved. Turns out it was never cancelled... still was getting charged and then had to pay again to cancel it. When I called to talk to someone they told me it was just club policy and I could restart the process over again.

The gym experience itself was fine, there are rowers, stair steppers, weights and treadmills. There are no spin bikes and half of the rowers aren't charged, but the gym was always clean and the staff was nice. When I signed up I knew I was moving away before the year end so I tried to sign up for the every 2 week membership. The staff member told me that its free cancellation if I move so I might as well sign up for the whole year. It turns out there's a $50 fee even if you move outside of the gym area. A warning to anyone looking to join the club, read the paperwork and do not listen to the gym staff about the memberships. The staff either lie or are not educated on the gym policies.

Cancelling was a nightmare when they refused to open after the pandemic lockdowns despite all the other gyms opening. Then years later I called to rejoin. During the process over the phone something happened and I had to let them go and call back the next day to finish the sign up process. Well life happened and I couldn’t get over there until a week later to find out they freaking permanently closed! Yes, these crooks were about to sign me back up knowing darn well they were about to close forever. Crooks. After research I find out they have done this same thing to people in Florida where the originated from. Avoid this gym at all cost.

Me and my son wore going to the Youfit gym on Scottsdale and Thomas back in February. I found out the gym had closed and I immediately called the gym on Bethany Home Road to cancel me and my son's memberships. I was informed to send an email to corporate requesting to cancel my memberships. I sent the emails on both me and my son's behalf and I received a confirmation email saying it had been canceled. Even then I still received a collection notice in the mail today saying that my son owes Youfit gym $113

Joined the Scottsdale location. After a hiatus from the gym, I found some time to finally get back over there — only to find it PERMANENTLY CLOSED. The next nearest location is a 30 minute drive away and entirely across town. The only notice they gave was an email I found buried in my spam folder.

Contacted YouFit to cancel my membership and was told I could not cancel despite the gym I signed up for NO LONGER EXISTING. They said I had to “buy out” my contract or prove that *I* moved! How ridiculous is that? THEY moved but to cancel I have to move that I moved?

The gym itself WAS fine before it closed, but this is literally corporate theft. I have advised YouFit that any further debits from my account are unauthorized.

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR YOUFIT. There are plenty of other options with better (less draconian) corporate support.

Also, I’m sure the Bethany Homes location now sucks due to Phoenix area closures. It’s probably overrun and too busy now. Go elsewhere.

I've been coming to this gym since 2015 and it is most definitely had its ups and downs. I'm not sure what it takes to find an intelligent and competent person to work in this gym but apparently it's become impossible. They are currently bringing in some new equipment and new machines but it's not going to change anything. A gym is its people and its culture and the people and culture at this gym stink. They should do the neighborhood a favor and shut or burn this place down so that something better can rise from the ashes.

Closed the location nearest to me, others are 40min drive at least away. First guy said I can cancel my membership no problem, then they tell me I can't. I joined the Scottsdale location about 2 months ago after moving to the area. About 2 weeks ago I was charged $50 for an “annual upkeep fee”. My boyfriend and I have been YouFit regulars for well over a year now - we love it. They've got everything we need to have a great workout. With the amount of equipment, we are almost never waiting for a machine, bench or weights - stark difference from an LA Fitness or Eos where you spend half your time waiting around to use one of the two benches.

From the 1st day I walked I'm I was greeted with smiles by Sheri. They explained the program, pricing and hours. Once I started working out regularly I came to realize that this is the gym where you come to focus on yourself. I'm new to gym life so I'm not sure how much community needs to be built but I know that the other people working out aren't going to mess with me or make me feel bad about myself. I'm here for me and that's it.
I do wish the hours were later on the weekends but during the week they're open until 10.
If you need a gym that gives you exactly what you need, here is the place. The machines are great, it's never super busy so you can use whatever you want.

I very rarely, if ever write reviews, so I hope there is something useful in this as you research and decide on a fitness club. I have been in the gym environment for nearly 30 years and decided on a double lime membership with my domestic partner at YouFit at a Phoenix location, Bethany Home Rd., if that helps. Management, (and there has been many in just a short few years, is outrageously unprofessional, with a severe lack of mindfulness towards the gym, its equipment, members, etc. I made one, very simple inquiry regarding the numerous "Out of Service" machines and equipment, and was very harshly told it was to be looked at in a couple weeks and to be patient, (as Coulter G., the new manager, was just getting acclimated to his new post). The story and rebuttals are all the same, as with each and every previous manager at this particular location, I can't speak to the others. Some of these concerns are still lingering nearly 3 years later. I had simply asked for some follow-up and an update thereafter, that follow-up of course never happened. More than a month awaiting word, I show up for a workout, amidst another wave of Covid, and there are no cleaning supplies. See photo for reference. I inquired about it, and was met with a terse response that it was a "Supply Issue." At this point, I asked for his name, he wouldn't provide it, nor would he provide his superiors name or contact information. I had to acquire, from a front desk associate, the corporate email. This interaction was recorded and he clearly made an effort to defame and embarrass me in the presence of other employees and members, my tolerance ended there. I left without a workout and drove to three different gyms in the area, all fully stocked! I was speechless. It took multiple emails to corporate for correspondence to finally reach an appropriate party, (a Sr. Director for this territory, whom oversees this manager). It took these inbetween interactions for Coulter to acknowledge it was his error in ordering). In the end this individual advocated for his employee instead of two, faithfully paying members, (of more than three years at the time of this particular situation). There is so much more to the story, and relevant details that will eventually come to light. Of course there are always two sides to every coin, but further scenarios persist and for the sake of a review, your time, and your money, it is encouraged and better spent at another gym. There are plenty more options that give a much more integrity based experience and upholds advocating for their members, as opposed to cultivating and condoning terrible management, poor leadership, and overall ugly business practices that you're sure to experience at YouFit. It's ok if you dont mind the dirt on all the gym equipment. Very heavy dust in all the corners and where machines are bolted down to the floor. Most of the machines squeak from the dirt inside them. Told guy at front desk it needs some oil but he said he would get to it later. Always something out of order, waiting to be fixed. Should have taken a picture of the heavy dust. Nobody ever cleans the machines. Other than that it's better than planet fitness that doesn't have a bench press or free weights. Next time I will take photos.

Best front end person- Sherry, she takes a personal interest in every member, always greeting and when possible cleaning the equipment. Weekend manager is in Office most of the time and could assist with cleaning.
Dustin is and has been their best trainer and helps all that ask and his clients recommend him.
One Request — with Direct TV you can select channels- many business folks are upset that CNBC is not available - just add the channel and eliminate a entertainment one. This is important to all following the stock market — should be one call and Direct assists in adding CNBC.

Like the facility and equipment. And Sheri at the front desk is the best greeter that has been there since I've been coming here. Very friendly and always talkative with an upbeat attitude. Great improvement over personnel in the past. Hope she stays and influences other workers to be more outgoing, especially the trainers. Always look forward to coming in.

I should have written this review earlier, but…

So a few months ago I had a session with a trainer. We scheduled the next session for the following week. I texted him that morning and told the trainer that I had to move it back a day. He then texts back that he was going to call me because he was really sick. I told him to feel better. About 5 minutes later I sent him a text saying that he should get tested for COVID 19. He then replies that he was tested and it came back positive!
Well I freaked out because I have upper respiratory issues to begin with so I ran to urgent care to get tested. I contacted YouFit and apparently their corporate office was going to send an email. Over three months and no contact from their corporate offices.
Today I went in to cancel because you have to do it by mail or in person.
They charged me $10 to cancel!
Supposedly, the manager was going to call me if the charge could be waived, but of course, no call back.
I would not recommend this gym to anyone due to the experiences I had.

Failing Gym will Nickel and Dime you for all it can. I was forced to pay for a year’s worth of services I cannot use just to cancel my membership. Horrendous policies, no communication, and terrible customer service.

Be warned: this Gym has closed so many locations (just check google maps) and will likely try to charge you a fee to cancel your membership on their way out.

I was a member of this gym for around 3.5 years. I went regularly for about 1.5 years until they, with no obvious communication or notice, closed my convenient location and renewed my subscription without my consent at another farther away location. I made the trek to the further location a few times and then Covid hit so I pretty much stopped going for the next 1.5 years. I kept my membership open for a few reasons: At the time, despite some warning signs, I felt like YouFit was a decent value and I wanted to help support them so they’d stay open. After a while I purchased personal gym equipment and decided to cancel my membership. They make it very difficult (impossible?) to cancel remotely. I tried emailing corporate multiple times for information on canceling and never received a response. I tried calling my designated YouFit and was told I would have to come in person to cancel my membership. This is during the height of Covid mind you. Once I felt comfortable going to the physical location I did and asked to cancel my membership. I was told that I had to pay the following fees to cancel my membership:

-$10 cancellation fee
-$10 fee for next month’s dues (this is because if you don’t let them know 10 days prior to the next billing period you have to pay for that month – their accounting system is still in the pre-internet/computer era).
-$40 fee for next year’s dues (again, if you don’t let them know 10 days prior to the annual dues you have to pay the WHOLE YEAR for some reason).

I asked the employee “So you’re telling me that despite supporting your company by paying 100s of dollars when I wasn’t even using the facilities I have to pay for the whole next month and the whole next year when I’m not even going to use them?”. I was told “yes because you signed the contract (which I didn’t, they automatically signed me up when my original location closed) that says you have to cancel 10 days in advance of your monthly and annual dues”. What!? They were completely inflexible and have lost all good will I once had for them. I’m making sure to keep my cancelation receipt because I’m sure they will forget to update their systems properly and probably try to charge me again and again.

To be fair I felt like the cost of $10 a month was a decent price for a gym. They had ok equipment for that price. So that is a pro of YouFit. However, it is clear that YouFit is in a major downward spiral and they treat their members horribly when you try to get out so I highly advise you avoid this gym.

I was a member of Youfit in 2012 but cancelled my membership after my personal trainer moved away. I didn't realize that this gym kept me on their roster charging me $20 per month for 9 years. What makes the situation worse is that they sold my information to another gun called crunch fitness who continued charging me for another 7 months.
I tried to call to cancel and was told that I couldn't do this over the phone but needed to go in person
I went there and was given an apology for the mistake but my only recourse was a year's worth of membership from Crunch fitness
Crunch fitness said it was not their fault but I could go after Youfit for reimbursement. I tried to deal with Youfit, to no avail just the run around. Dead end emails and phone numbers. This has been so frustrating for me. Long ng story somewhat shortened, I feel violated and cheated. I don't think it's fair. If I wanted to workout at a gym, it would be one of my choice. Not so far from my home. If anyone has had a similar experiences, I would like to know and if you were able to get a refund for stolen money, I would love to know how!

My favorite trainer of all time was treated poorly by the new manager of this facility. Due to the poor treatment, she gave her 2 week notice. This manager booted her today. I would have trained with this woman for years. Now I will be terminating training at this facility once I use up my credits. I am a healthcare professional with 40 years of experience. I will be writing a letter to the CEO, whom I hope is not as narcissistic as the manager!

Initially when COVID hit i was able to call and put my account on hold. After paying 2 months of the club being closed. They said once I felt ready to come back to call them and they would reinstate my account. Well they decided to reinstate it on their own terms and start charging me again and charge me an annual fee, mind you it wasn't open all year!

After going in and requesting a manager 4 times I was told my request would be processed by a manager. I called a month later and was told it was approved and I would be getting me refund. This was late December.

Called today to check on refund status and then was told Sorry its late for refunds.

Liars! Lies. Your company is collecting funds, promising refunds, then changing their minds. This is absolutely the WORST customer service ever. Thanks for making life more stressful, as if the Pandemic wasn't enough!

Once we're were able to go in we had to speak to 4 people before a manager actually came out of the office to talk to us. They said we would have to fill out forms and a regional would be in contact about our refund...

Never happened. Not a call or an email. Now we are told our refund is pass the deadline

This is not a trust worthy business.

This Youfit is clean and the workers are friendly, which are probably its only redeeming qualities. I came from Thunderbird/40th St which had many more amenities. This location is pretty bare bones as far as a gym goes. But that’s not even my biggest gripe. Who on earth chooses the music here?? I’m sorry but I can’t get motivated to work my hardest when Hello by Adele is playing, but that’s just one example of all the slow songs they play here. I feel like I’m at a high school dance every time I’m here: might as well cozy up next to the nearest buff guy and whisper sweet nothings in his ear.

I've been a member on and off for the last 8 years or so. They're cheap so I didn't mind. I haven't really gone the past year but didn't mind since their price point is worth the occasional drop in.

Then I realized they've been charging members throughout Covid. How did I realize that? They charged my yearly $40 fee the other day and when I searched my statement I realized they've also been charging members the monthly fee when they weren't even open, even after gyms were allowed to reopen they did not.

I canceled my membership today with Kory up front who was clearly bothered by my presence (sorry to make you work while you're at work). She offered no explanation about the membership fees when I asked why they were charged. Then to top everything off they charged me $10 to cancel.

So to be clear, they've charged every month they were closed, charged the yearly $40 even though they weren't open for half of the year, then charged me $10 to cancel. All during a pandemic. I'm fortunate and not financially struggling but I can't say the same for their other members. Seems tone deaf at a time like this. Not to mention I've come here on and off since 2012 or so. I'm not a petty person and let things go but this was too much for me so I had to leave a review although I'm well aware it means little to nothing. Here's to hoping Youfit doesn't make it through this pandemic. Cheers.

You fit charged me multiple months while we're in shutdown due to covid. They said they could not refund me my money so we agreed that i would use the remaining 3 months, I had already paid for and couldn't use due to shutdown, when they opened back up. We agreed that i had those 3 months left to use and that i was effectively canceling my membership and would not be changed anymore. Now I have noticed 3 new charges on my card in the last 3 months. Now the people at the office are telling me that I need to come in person to cancel my membership and sign off on it when I had already done that. They say there is no direct line to their corporate office and that I have to wait for them to send in mail to corporate to be approved to refund me my money which they illegally stole from me. I am extremely frustrated with the lack of professionalism concerning the management of this gym.
