One of my favorite 24 hour fitnesses staff is great. I almost wanna leave zero stars just because I'm selfish and want people to think it's a bad Gym and then it will be less crowded but overall it's not even that crowded most days, Aiden and the rest of the staff is very helpful. It's cleaner than most 24 hour fitnesses. I still think they should hose down the sauna more often but what do you do....highly recommend 10 stars out of five.

Extremely unprofessional and dishonest. I had been a member for a year and had not had a particularly good experience in terms of poor cleanliness of the gym, lack of maintenance of equipment, and rude employees. I had been told when I signed up that the membership would not automatically renew and that it would notify me and give me the option to continue if i chose. with this in mind, i had planned to explore other options after my year had expired. Well they did auto renew it, causing me to overdraft for the first time in my life and had to pay bank fee. i addressed this with them and they said it should not have happened and were apologetic. tried to stick it out for another year since it was paid and gym was convenient, however after 2 months of rude and unhelpful staff and even worse cleanliness and maintenance standards I went in to ask if I could cancel and get a refund for the unused days (which would have been around $270) and the woman at the front desk told me she can “certainly do that” for me and to call back within an hour to confirm because the manager who processes these things was on break currently but would be back in an hour. I called an hour later and she said the cancellation was confirmed and to expect a refund onto my card on file within 5-7 business days. called back after 7 business days and no refund and now they’re saying they’re not giving me a refund and money is lost. i wouldn’t have cancelled if they told me I couldn’t get a refund. very dishonest and unprofessional. Employee named “Jay” who told me there won’t be a refund was super rude and kept hanging up call or putting on indefinite hold but picked up instantly when my boyfriend called on my behalf and was suddenly nice to him. have escalated to corporate but no response. I NEVER write reviews but this experience has been unbelievable.

Dear Management Team,
I am writing to express serious concerns about the cleanliness and safety conditions at this 24 Hour Fitness location. The facility has consistently been dirty, with heavy dust accumulation around the racks, seating areas, and other equipment. The fans are also kept on at maximum speed, which spreads dust throughout the gym.
As someone who works out regularly, I have become sick three different times after using this location. When members are sweating directly under high-speed fans, it increases the likelihood of getting sick—especially in an environment filled with dust. A gym is a place where people naturally sweat; that should not become a health risk.
If certain members prefer to work out in front of fans or avoid sweating, there are private areas or other solutions available. However, the current setup jeopardizes the health of everyone in the facility just to accommodate a few individuals who may not be there to truly work out. This is neither fair nor safe.
I appreciate the convenience and equipment this location offers, but the lack of cleanliness and disregard for member well-being is alarming. It feels as though the priority has become checking people in rather than maintaining a healthy and sanitary environment.
I respectfully request that management address these issues immediately by improving cleanliness, adjusting fan usage, and ensuring a safe workout space for all members.

Resumed going after a long break due to my stuff getting stolen out of the locker room in 2019 by a woman who was eventually caught (be wary of someone sitting in the locker room on their phone; she took a sly pic of my lock). Anyway, lots of machines, free weights, stretching device and mats, lots of cardio machines including recumbent bikes, ellipticals, stair climbers. Thank you to the staff who clean up throughout the day and boo to the people who don't clean up after themselves when they finish with a machine or weights. Haven't used the pool or sauna, the basketball court, the spin or yoga classes but 24hr has it all.

When these two are working the gym turns into a circus. The guy working said, "shower" when I walked inside. When I walked into the locker room there was a bunch of naked men playing grab ass. He made it very clear he was aware of what was going on and did nothing to stop it.

This gym opened with much fan fare and to be fair, when it was new...it was pretty good. The location is great, parking, great. The gym is large and the inclusion of an outdoor fitness area was awesome.

I have been a member of the chain for over 30 years, having originally joined in Point Loma, I have used their gyms throughout the county (I sure miss the Sycamore gym in Vista) .

Since this gym opened, it has gone steadily downhill. The much hyped included towel service, gone. I can't tell you how many times I've found the rest rooms in terrible condition. Dirty, water everywhere, no soap, TP, etc.

The gym is not much better. The workout areas are often cluttered with paper towel litter. machines are broken and when they are, they stay broken for weeks or more. vinyl surfaces on machines are worn out or ripped. Rubber handles are worn out, ripped, out of place or missing. It seems no one ever cleans or does machine maintenance. It didn't use to be like this at their gyms. I used to see maintenance staff cleaning or routinely servicing machines. Unfortunately, this seems to be a thing of the past.

A few weeks back, one of the two sets of doors were broken. That too took weeks to fix. Rather than make member's safety a priority, Management moved a sitting bench in front of the door to block people from using it. All good until an emergency happens.

What could happen at gym though? Funny you'd think that...I was at their old El Cajon gym back in the mid 90's the day they had an active shooter event where staff members were killed.

Despite being a member since 1993, I am seriously considering dumping my membership and going elsewhere. My entire family has used this gym since the day it opened, it's the closest to my house.....I'm just so over the unwillingness to keep it clean and do the regular maintenance.

Unless they do a significant turn around, there is no way I would recommend this gym to anyone. It seems they simply do not care.....too bad.

I am very impressed by your staff Oralia, she is one of the cleaning staff in the center, responsible for the women's locker room, bathroom etc.. From when I was not realized, she worked quietly cleaned all the regular areas that people use, she did very well. Yet she started to clean the floor tiles and wall tiles. Until one day I found out our shower floors and wall are all cleaned as new, all the dark stains are gone. Then I noticed in the floor of the locker room, and then the bathroom, they are all cleaned as new. The sinks and the toilets, everything she toughed, now is cleaned as at home. I am so surprised, and compliment her several times. So was the other customers. I think she deserves a open compliment from us on a public site, like Google, so people know how good she is. Nowadays, people like her is so rare, we are lucky to have her. This 24 Hours Fitness center become a comfortable and pleasant place because of her. Thank you, Oralia!

I like the gym but I wanted to be there for only the month but I did ask for my refund of the yearly fee that I got charged and I did put the information of the link of 24 hour fitness on their computer on why and they said I would get my refund in a couple of days and it’s 59.99 that’s the yearly fee and it’s been a while I was last there to ask for my refund on the date June 26 or 25 and I still haven’t gotten my refund …..

24 Hour Fitness – El Camino Real, San Diego, CA

I’m extremely disappointed with how 24 Hour Fitness on El Camino Real handled an issue that should have been resolved quickly and professionally. About three weeks ago, my driver's license was accidentally handed to another member who was visiting from Missouri. The employee jumped on the desk to hand me a license that was not mine, so I can only imagine the way he gave mine away. But the way this location failed to follow up and take accountability has been beyond frustrating.
After noticing the mistake, I reached out via email three times and followed up with four phone calls in order to get someone to finally help me retrieve my license. I had to go to the DMV and pay out of pocket to replace my license, and despite explaining this and requesting a reimbursement, I have received nothing in return—not even the license back.
A simple mistake turned into weeks of ignored communication, unnecessary expenses, and no accountability. For a national gym chain, this level of customer service is unacceptable. I expected better and hope others are treated with more care and respect than I was.

I signed up at this gym for a few months before moving out of the country mid December 2024. Older facility, not the cleanest, but friendly staff and had what I needed. Brandon signed me up and I trained with a PT named Franke once a week. Both guys were great. Both of them knew I was moving out of the country come December. I personally went into Brandon’s office two weeks before we moved and I watched him mark his calendar to cancel my membership. So of course I thought I was taken care of. Fast forward and my wife informs we have been still getting charged from 24hr. I got a hold of the new general manager, Jimmy, he informs me Brandon no longer works there, and Franke past away in December. Says the best he can do is credit me back for one month because nothing was notated on my account, and for the rest I would have to take it up with accounting. Highly disappointing experience and will not sign back up with them when we return to the states.

Looks like this 24 Hour Fitness haven’t been cleaned in a loooong time.
Floors are covered with little hairs, dirt and other debris;
every single piece of equipment, especially gray metal parts are covered in layers upon layers of dust.

I understand hiring professional cleaning crew costs money, but it’s a part of running a respectable business! 🤨
C’mon management, do something about it
or San Diego county would have to get involved!

I've been a member for 30 years, over the last 10 years huge decline in this company, from broken equipment, cleaning supplies always out, bathrooms never cleaned..... the new equipment they do get is used from other named gyms.

What's the deal 24hr fitness.... why are you still called 24hr Fitness, gyms not even opened for 12hrs 🤣

Large Club, Nice Equipment. Pool, Hot Tub, Sauna, Steam Room. Basketball Upstairs (2 Floors).
Memberships are ALL CLUB ONLY.
Big with lots of Equipment.
Showers have Black Mold. I've been asking them to address this for years and they do nothing

Large Hot Tub. Members are older. There are young people too.
Not open 24 hours.

They didn’t allow me to pay as a guest because I’m not from the area, even though I’ve been allowed to pay before. Today at 6:40 AM, I was denied entry. Disappointing.

I've been all over USA, and all over Asia, this is the most comprehensive facility I've ever seen. They have everything, in multiples! They have indoor equipment, outdoor equipment, training, group studio, additional services (3rd party), huge indoor pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, kids play pen, and huge locker rooms. It's amazing. Price is fair, the staff are very helpful, and they offer personal training. Huge parking. The only thing to worry is.... No towel service, no fan in the locker room, and the hairdryer is only hot, which would be better if it blew cold too, it's nice after the dry sauna. I was told by members to watch out for locker theft, I guess all over California is a problem. I wish they had a locker room attendant, and towel svc.

Love this gym, I've never seen anything like it, truly amazing. And they take insurance and active and fit direct too.

Warning: if you want to do a 3 day pass for free to try it out, DONT tell them you’re from out of town. They will make you pay & their friendly conversation will abruptly turn uninterested as they know they can’t rope you into being a new membership.
It’s not worth the membership fees.. old, torn up equipment, dirty floors and locker rooms, & unfriendly desk staff.

Alright so me and my girlfriend got buddy passes and the first month they charged us multiple times, and then when I went in to talk with a employee, I was helped exactly the way I wanted, I thought the problem was handled. After cancellation I received a call from 24hr fitness financial services department regarding the cancelled membership, they said I still owed $98.00 after they already collected $59.99 for the membership and we only used it for one month... They attempted to triple charge us,, and we had to remove the payment card because they would try to charge us several times a day. Financial services failed to provide good customer service and refused to fix their mistake.

**edit** Removing yet another star as they now require biometric information to sign in, and no other option. Plus, signed up for a class on the app and the instructor is out of town so they had a random personal trainer sub in for her. He did the best he could, but what's the point of giving you all my personal information in the app and signing up for a class if you don't cancel it when appropriate?

Original review: While the employees are kind and the space is clean, I've been able to ignore the too-full class and broken equipment downsides until this new towel service... If you want a towel, they charge you $10 a month and then donate the towel after a SINGLE USE. I understand you likely get a tax write off for the donations, however, this is an offensively wasteful program. Do better.

2 month update. The place is still disgustingly dirty. General Manager is never around so there is no way to give him direct feedback. You never see any cleaning people. CLEAN THIS PLACE UP! Yuck! Plus COVID is rampant again. Get it together. I’m going to file a grievance to Corporate. I’ve had enough of your standard replies - you obviously don’t care and are not doing anything to improve this situation.

This place has gone WAY downhill! Most of the elliptical machines need maintenance and are out of balance. The place is very dirty and dusty. Sauna needs resurfacing. The wood is soaked with oil. Managment needs to pay attention and get this place cleaned up.disgusting hair all over the weight area floors.
Close the place for 2 days and do a deep cleaning and maintenance on the equipment. Yuck!

This place is abysmally run. Showers broke and were down for weeks. Sauna has an electrical problem and has now been out of service for over a month. Drying machine breaks and not only is it NEVER replaced, but there are never plastic bags for wet clothes. Clogged sinks. No soap in the showers. Disgustingly dirty locker room facilities. Broken cardio machines everywhere. Meanwhile workers just stand around and chat. 24 needs to do a gut check on this one. They’ve dropped the ball entirely.

Since few months ago this gym has been going downhill real bad. Most of the time the bathroom stalls are always dirty and/or maintenance, same thing with the zincs in the men's bathroom; out of 4 of them 1 works fine, one is clogged, other one barely gives water and the other doesn't work at all. The only reason I can keep coming to this location is because of the full basketball court. I saw the other reviews and they all say the same thing. Hopefully management addresses this situation.

Update: the elevator is not working since at least 1 week now. The last time that didn't work lasted for months and I mean it months! I get it fixing them might not be a matter of 1 or 2 days but weeks and even months is just wild.

Some of the worst customer service I've ever seen at a gym. I'm looking for a gym to join in Carlsbad and signed up for a guest pass at this location to try it out. The person at the front desk told me he wasn't allowed to "give out" any more guest passes, and the only way I could try the gym would be to sign up for a membership. Not sure what the logic is behind requiring someone to commit to a membership before trying the facilities at the gym they're joining.

I'm starting to think the restrooms are a petri dish for science experiments! Seriously though, it would be great if they could get some more cleaning love. I haven't spotted a janitor or any cleaning activity, and it shows. Hopefully, they can scrub up the resources to make the restrooms shine!

In addition to weights the pool, jacuzzi, and saunas are my main focus. I originally joined 24 at Frazee in O'side because it is only a 7 min walk from my front door. The club overall was so disgusting and the pool water quality so bad, with the wet facilities filthy and only sporadically-working, that I decided to shuffle cars with room mates and drive over the hill 15 mins to this 24. So glad I did. You will find the crew cleaning here regularly to keep things nicer. Of course right after a rush the showers can be a bit nasty but hey, it's after a rush. The 4 stars is for this and because they really should post some signage and enforce taking a shower before entering the pool and/or jacuzzi. Swimming pools should not be cool dips after a workout and/or sauna, but here they are all day long. As a long-time gym and pool rat and former pool man I know what I am talking about. Otherwise, thanks for the extra efforts keeping things worth making the drive and light years better than 24 O'side at Frazee!
