To gauge management “response” to my review, consider that picture captions are updated to reflect how long issues are present (and is it really the member’s responsibility to point out maintenance needs or should management make it a priority?). This location is NOT open 24 hours and should be called 14-17 Hour Fitness. I will update this review and add pics as needed to call out the shabby conditions. Do you want outdated, broken, torn, and dirty equipment? Because that's what you get for your over-priced membership. Careful to not trip over the random trash cans set out to catch the leaks from the rusty ducts overhead (last 2 pictures, ew). No water pressure so bring water if you want to wash your hands in the locker rooms. Paper towel dispensers are always empty and spray bottles are just for show (1 out of 4 work). Crappy pop music on HIGH volume is what’s playing now, reminding me that my headphones are not noise canceling. You’ve been warned. Gave an extra star because the trainers are nice but would have been 1 star given that the gym is ALWAYS crowded meaning they get plenty of money from you to fix the equipment but they just don’t care.

This gym was really nice a few years a go. Unfortunately they don’t keep up with it. It’s super dirty, bandaids by the pool , lockers are always dirty , shower are starting to have mold, machines are always broken. Even the wood on the squat racks have shifted 4 inches, theirs a gap hopefully no one hurts their ankles .. I know they make money because it’s always busy so not sure why it’s in such poor conditions .

Myriam and Victoria get 5 stars for their classes. Management gets one star for allowing the classes to regularly go over maximum capacity which is unsafe. Also, the word temporary seems to mean never fixed. 3 of the 4 water fountains have been out of commission for a very long time, the sound system has needed repair for over a year and the fans don’t all rotate at top speed

We go to the gym twice a week for Senior Fitness. The instructors (Myriam & Victoria) are great. They get five stars each. Classes OFTEN exceed the listed capacity for the room. This is not a safe situation for seniors.

UPDATE - Not sure if they listened but Monday's new instructor is AMAZING. You guessed it, I purchased another membership.

Prior review - I have been a member of this gym since it opened. The only reason I joined was for the spin classes. After COVID they canceled all the classes and now only have two. One on Monday and one on Wednesday. Wednesday’s class is taught by Steven, an awesome, organized and not so talkative instructor - great experience. Monday’s class, however, is an entirely different experience. The entire class has absolutely no rhyme or reason. She yells the entire class, so you can’t get into the ride. Her music, if you can hear it above her yelling, is awful. But the worst part of the class is, all you do is up and down and push-ups. If I want an upper-body work-out I’ll take a body-pump class - of which there are SEVERAL options, and only two spin classes.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I called this location on August 17th, 2025 around 12:30 PM, and the guy who answered (Clint) was one of the rudest employees I’ve ever dealt with anywhere. When I explained that I had previously spoken to someone about my membership, he basically called me a liar. His exact words were, “Oh everyone has someone that they talked to,” said in this smug, condescending tone that made it clear he had no interest in helping me.

This wasn’t just poor customer service—it was flat out disrespectful. Instead of listening or trying to solve the problem, he talked down to me like I was wasting his time. At a gym that’s supposed to encourage people to better themselves, it’s disgusting to have someone like Clint on the front lines tearing people down. I actually hung up the phone feeling worse than when I called.

On top of that, I was billed $275.88 for a membership I was told would expire after the summer. I was very clear about only needing it for a few months since I won’t even be in San Diego this year. To be reassured it would end, only to get hit with a charge—and then be treated like garbage when I called about it—says everything you need to know about how little they care about members here.

Save yourself the stress and go literally anywhere else. If this is the kind of person they’re hiring, it shows they don’t care about their customers at all.

This gym used to decent. Lately it has gone down hill.
It's always dirty. The cleaning stations are constantly empty and within a 2 hr period no gym staff checked them. Equipment is also constantly broken.
Since gym staff do not keep they gym clean at least the gym goers should do their part but NO. Hardly anyone cleans their equipment after using it and they dont rerack their weights.

Are you ever going to fix your hot tub? Seriously, it's been like two months?!?!
Of the three local locations in the Oceanside/Escondido area, this one is Definitely the cleanest, although the last two times I went, the pool water was murky.
It's only a two lane pool, so sometimes there can be a wait. And it's in the basement, so no windows or cell service.
The showers are cleaner than most and are modern with a hook for your bag and really hot water.
But please, fix the hot tub!! 🙏🙏🙏

Also ...really liked it when I could purchase a water from vending machine with cash. These new fancy machines are garbage.

I honestly want to give more stars but the women’s restroom has had a broken stall for over two months and another one broke a month ago. And a third one is locked leaving only two stalls. I think it’s crazy to have a toilet out of service for over two months. A sink in the restroom is also clogged, it’s been that way for at least a week now.

Wow! New low even for this club who has worst manager in the franchise.
Today there are no working women’s bathrooms— even the handicap bathroom in main level is closed. You would think at VERY least they would have sent a notice out so women were aware — as well as a notice at the desk of when to expect that they would be repaired. :(
Was griping about it in spin class and woman next to me told me she had called manager asking for personal training and he said to expect a call and never heard anything.
Someone else in spin added that they had asked about possibility of club getting a $35 fan for their very well attended spin classes where the room is always hot and the manager had just said, “ no. We’re not going to do that.” No explanation. No apologies.

So guess that half the spin bikes are not working properly is also on brand for this manager. Kind of amazing in an awful way.

Nice facility but we weren’t able to use enough due to our lifestyle. When we tried to cancel the memberships after 6 months it was an absolute nightmare. My wife had to make 8 phone calls and 1 in person visit to finally cancel and properly refund the amount owed. A Breath of Fresh Air at LA Fitness!

I've been a dedicated gym-goer for the past 20 years, and last week, I finally made the switch from 24 Hour Fitness to LA Fitness. Let me tell you, it's been a game-changer!

My experience at 24 Hour Fitness had become increasingly frustrating. The gym's equipment, especially the bikes, seemed to be in a perpetual state of disrepair. What made matters worse was that the staff appeared disinterested in addressing these issues. It felt like a never-ending cycle of broken machines.

But this week, I took the plunge and joined LA Fitness, and I can't help but wonder why I didn't make the switch sooner. It's like a breath of fresh air. The difference is night and day.

At LA Fitness, the equipment is well-maintained and in excellent working condition. It's such a relief to hop on a bike that isn't falling apart. What's even more impressive is the responsiveness of the staff. They genuinely care about the gym's upkeep and the members' experience. Whenever there's an issue, they're quick to address it.

If I could turn back time, I would have gladly paid the extra money and made the switch to LA Fitness a long time ago. The improved atmosphere and dependable equipment have reinvigorated my passion for fitness. I'm looking forward to many more productive workouts at LA Fitness. It's a gym experience I wish I had discovered sooner!

Had the most horrible experience with the staff here today. My girlfriend has been looking to join a gym, and we were in the mall and decided to look. Staff there was willing to sign her up right away, but didn't seem very knowledgeable about the machines. Whatever. The real problem there was Josh, the manager there. He interjected himself when another staff member Jessica was signing my girlfriend up when price was being discussed, and offered to pay for the first month himself for the membership, even handing his wallet to Jessica. Sounds wonderful, right? Wrong! She decided to leave so we could talk it over together. She ends up texting Jessica to sign up, deciding to take Josh up on his offer to pay for the first month, figuring that something would be applied to make the first month free. Information is taken to sign up, and then card information was requested. Eventually my girlfriend receives a call from Abe so that the membership could be finalized and credit card information given. Then it comes out that she owes the first month, and this obviously leads her to protest this, as the first month should have been covered. Abe puts my girlfriend on hold to go get a manager, and then never returns. She hangs up, proceeds with the rest of her day until just a little while before I started typing up this review. Josh calls her personally, and he was just about the rudest, most unprofessional person one could meet. Lying and saying that she had called angrily multiple times all day. Saying that no, he didn't literally mean he would pay out of his own pocket, and saying things along the lines of "I'm taking time out of MY night to call YOU about this." and proceeding with harrassing, bullying behavior. It was completely uncalled for.

Hot yoga is one thing but when the whole gym is 79 degrees, see photo, you're sweating just walking in and drinking water. Very crowded, I guess the hot tempature is so that people won't stay long. The Check in process is buggy with the app.

I signed up for a guest pass and they refused to let me work out unless I did a 20 minute tour and went over the financials first. I went to the other location and they let me work out with no problem. Shouldn’t this be an optional service? Really needs some re evaluation. Now you will not get a membership from me.

Yeah about my journey, it was actually pre short. I got in mall escondido,ca location and the lady said it's 15$ for a day pass and we asked if we can get one for free and she said no. So we went online and got one for 3 days and she still did not even looked at it and said there is no manager or higher rank team member to activate the code so either pay 15$ for one day or come back Tomorrow. I called another location and asked if i come in with my 3day pass do u need to activate my code or you just need to look qt it and he said i will just look at it and no activation is required. Thanks for having a great staff out there, they are really friendly and helpful! Lol

Truly disappointing!!! To say the least … change the name if your not gonna be open 24hrs !!! My fist time back returning to the gym in a few yrs … was a member before. Got there around 7:20pm started warming up, doing my thing and I hear through the loud speaker … closing in 30 min !!! Really ??? What a joke !!! Why Covid ??? That’s past us … move forward and give the customers what they’re paying for !!!

So my wife and i have been coming here for 2 yrs
She dances and I work out..
Im her “buddy” she always gets hthere an hour early to get a spot in class
She always tells the front desk in coming in a little later …
Today they told me she had to check me in and wouldn’t let me in , they said I would have to pull her out of class to check me in.
This is a problem for her and myself to disrupt the class
We will be canceling our memberships
Thank you “Sage” for being such a negitive team member !!!
Oh well it will save me $720.00 dollars a year

Did everything they could to stay open during the pandemic, gave emphasis to the cleanliness of the gym, re-opened pool/sauna/steam room as soon as they were allowed.. despite taking a financial hit during the lockdown, they've managed to keep most gyms open and available for use

They should change the name!! It's not open 24hrs ! They close at 12. Customer service is the worst. They closed a good location on Rose and Grand and opened this. Thought it would be an improvement! But it is not. Not worth the money. Many places in escondido are cheaper, cleaner and offer the same amenities.

This is my go to gym, it has everything that I need to get the job done and with my personal experiences I never had a problem with customer service like some say but than again I'm not the type to ask too much from staff, I go in get them dues paid and I'm out. The only thing I would ask for to make it 5 star gym for me is for this location to actually be open 24 hours, I want to grind while others are sleeping and avoid the traffic jam while I'm trying to get my gainz! Y'all can't call yourself 24 hour fitness no more Bro, since your open from 4am to 12 am its gotta be 20 hour fitness lol

I love this place. Equipment is new. Locker room are downstairs. Classes are pretty good especially Sat morning at 8am, Jen is awesome. Friendly welcome when you enter. Just sucks that they took away towel service.

One of the cleanest 24hr fitness gyms i have been to. Good selection of equipment, not too busy (went on a sunday). Not the best for a chest and back workout but had a great selection for if you want to do arm day. Treadmills in great shape and good to run on. Staff very pleasant. Thanks!

These people are nice, I have been to many fitness places and this one really sticks, also 24 hours? I love working out late at night it helps me sleep after all I am a water polo player in a pretty good high school. I need to keep my strength and practice is at 5am so get a little work out before hand.
