I purchased a 3 day guest pass while visiting family and I have to say, without a doubt, this is the worst gym I’ve ever worked out at and I’ve been using gyms for 30 years all over the world. Dirty machines, broken machines, dumbbells scattered everywhere in no order, and members with zero regard for anyone else. The staff was nice which is the only positive that I experienced. That area seems prime for someone to open a nicer gym that takes pride in its operations.

Hi, I called earlier and spoke with Charles to confirm if the sauna was working. He told me it was open, but when I arrived, it turned out not to be. I’ve been coming to this gym for a while, and I just wanted an honest answer before driving all the way from Daly City. When I tried to ask about it in person, he was quite rude, and there were a few staff members standing around chatting instead of helping. I won’t be coming back to this location unless the staff can be more honest and respectful toward customers.

Very disappointed in how much this gym has gone down-hill.
My biggest frustration is the Machines Not Working/Being Out of Order for Months. This is not acceptable. There are numerous Treadmills in the last row that have Inclines that don't work at all or the Machine itself does not turn on at all and it's been this way for months!

Secondly, the gym is filthy. The machines need to be deep cleaned. I have seen workers wipe down the bottom base of the machine, but that's not even important, you should be cleaning the top and front of the machines, the fan area ( that area is filled with mold/mildew/bacteria that will come straight into my nose and mouth when the fan is on ), this is more of a health hazard than you cleaning the bottom based of the treadmill.

What is the excuse for not fixing the machines?

There are TV's in front of the elliptical that do not work and 1 that has been frozen for months with the same image of a man on there. Would love to know where the remotes are/watch actual TV with a TV that works.

Also, what happened to the disinfectant sprays? I have to push on a button a million times to get some small amount of disinfectant spray to come out to wipe down the nasty machines.

The Sauna has been out for weeks on end, with no real idea of when it will be back.

There are signs in the bathroom telling customers to pick up after themselves and that it is a reflection of us if the gym is nasty, lol. Whoever wrote this is very immature. I understand some people are not hygienic and on the nasty side- but you are going to have those type of customers especially with the high homeless population ( there are many homeless people that live in their cars that come here, there's many cars filled with garbage in the parking lot ) that frequent here.

At the end of the day: The gym and the employees, management have to find a resolution and you can't blame the people- that's on YOU to fix and clean thing's not the customer's. Instead of hiring immature young high-schoolers to work here, hire older people with good work ethic, customer service, and have a desire to walk around more, clean up, etc. than just sit there on the bottoms.

I really didn't know what to expect from this gym but all my life I have heard it was a popular gym. When I signed up it wasn't anything that I would have wanted in a gym. Not that these reviews matter because nothing will be done but the gym is so unsanitary, unclean, machines ran down and they want a yearly annual fee to pay for broken machines when it's not done, it's really filthy in there.

I'm stuck here for a year, because that's what I paid for. But $300 yearly for a crappy gym. I could've just thrown my money in the trash 🗑 tbh.

Upon signup the guy calls me to tell me the free pass is not free and I need to pay $30, which is even higher than one month which costs $25 if paid annually. I came into the 24 hr fitness Newpark Location with a three day pass I got online. I chose Newark location being a Fremont resident. Tne guy at the counter refused my three day pass.X38SWQ Another guy in all black came and repeated I was not "local" how is Fremont not local to Newark? - Half the treadmills need repair. Either device holder is missing, or machine is stuck at an incline, or machine's incline doesn't work or its making too much noise or its broken altogether. I complained about it but it was ignored and I was also refused when I asked for general manager's email so here I am.
- Disinfectants should be in sprays for easier application.
- Members need to be reminded to clean up equipment after use.
- Sessions are an expensive purchase (for most), need to be offered as flat one time purchase instead of monthly subscriptions.

This gym is decent if you’re coming in to use the machines. But if you’re planning to freshen up after, it’s a different story. Some of the lockers are broken into and the showers are gross. There’s bandaids and hair all over the floor. Also, the toilets are not maintained during the evening so you might be welcomed with a surprise. I’ve been going to the 24 Hour Fitness in Automall for a while now, and the decline in cleanliness and professionalism is hard to ignore.

At 3 AM, you’d expect a gym to be quiet and organized, but instead, the front desk often looks like a break room. Staff member are sitting around having a full-on feast with a group of “members” who seem more interested in socializing than working out. Meanwhile, the actual gym floor is a mess — weights scattered everywhere, trip hazards around every corner.

The restrooms are consistently filthy — trash overflowing, dirty floors, and broken fixtures. It’s clear that cleaning and maintenance are not a priority here. Most of the cable machines have been out of order for months, with no signs of repair. This is completely unacceptable for a gym that charges monthly membership fees.

The only reason I still go here is because I work out at 2 AM and there are no other gyms open in my area at that time. If there were, I’d leave this place without hesitation.

And before 24 Hour Fitness responds with the usual “Please reach out to us so we can address your concerns” — don’t bother. That’s been said before, and nothing gets done. In most cases, you won’t even get a follow-up response.

This location needs serious management attention. Until they address the cleanliness, enforce gym etiquette, and fix their equipment, I can’t recommend it to anyone who’s actually looking for a place to work out.

When it comes to lane swimming at this location, I would rate the experience a 2 out of 5. There are 3 x 25 yard / 23 meter lanes. The pool water was murky giving it 1.5 out of 5 for visibility and cleanliness. Users of the pool were respectful and accommodating to lane swimmers.

The Jacuzzi jets were unfortunately not operational during my visit. However, the water temperature was pleasant, and around 40°C, which was a plus.

Both the sauna and steam room were out of service.

In the locker room, there were plenty of lockers. The floors could be swept and mopped on an hourly basis. Three shower stalls were not functioning, 75% of the soap dispensers were full, which was appreciated.

The locker room is the nastiest thing I ever seen, dirty cotton swabs, razors, hair, nails. The sinks are often clogged and dirty, the trash can always full.
I have reported this issue twice and they told me “you should come after 10 am not 7 am to see it clean” how does that makes sense to management? I bet you that cotton swab will be there for one week, they should do a field trip to planet fitness and learn.
The equipment is okay, although some of them are broken and they take 3 months to fix them.

About as gross as a gym can be.

Weights are randomly strewn about the building. You will waste time trying to find them. Better hope the guy who has 4 different sets scattered around his bench doesn't have the ones you need.

Squat rack bars bent, and the foam underneath destroyed so your weights roll away however they want.

Some of the equipment is actually dangerously in disrepair.

Overflowing garbage cans.
Spit out Zyns in the water fountain.

Black mold in the showers (half of which have been out of service for 2 months). The ones that work have trash in them, and their broken off water handles have been replaced with a bolt from the hardware aisle.

Sauna/steamroom have the same unidentified residue buildup for months.

Locker room floors have some new biohazard of hygiene products on a daily basis. They look like they haven't been mopped since Biden was president.

Something abnormal is always happening in the bathroom. One day, it's a dude shower singing out-of-key at FULL volume in a language. The next, it's a hairy naked man standing on one leg blow drying his feet next to the sinks for 5 minutes straight.

Never seen the employees do anything but sit at the desk. They're nice, at least. It's probably corporate's fault.. refusing to spend money on repairs and more employees

I got the 3 day pass to try out before I became a full time. But the guy at the counter said, we have stopped accepting the passes. If it's not accepted, then the website should have called it out explicitly. Not provide the passes via email just to be told at the center it ain't allowed. Will not consider becoming a member.

Criminal liars.
This company is perpetually being sued and for good reason. Never, and I mean NEVER sign any long term contract with them. They sign contracts they never intend to adhere to then literally laugh and say "get in line to sue us". They constantly remove or discontinue services. The equipment and facilities are in constant disrepair. They enforce no rules so that the biggest jerks make it impossible to work out. And then they have the gall to raise the price they agreed to in writing. Think of the worst, most dishonest company you've ever heard of and they can say "at least we're not 24hr fitness".

I am comparing this gym with other 24-hour clubs. If you want to pay 3 times as much, like Club Sport, then that would be another level. This one has good machines, good free weights, and a huge selection of cardio on the second level. It has a pool, Jacuzzi, and half-court basketball. It is basically clean, and the employees seem to care vs. other club locations where if I tell them something is broken, they act like i am interrupting their social time.

Update: gone downhill a bit since last review. A lot of their new equipment is breaking and they are worse in keeping up with the maintenance. I now carry pins for the weight machines as well as certain attachments that are hard to find. Not sure why they don't buy 50 pins on Amazon for $100, seems like they don't care. Oh, their dance class floor is still not fixed after most a year of being flooded. But that's what you get for $25/mo :-/

Dirty equipment and dirty jacuzzi and dirty pool and dirty showers. 4-5 equipment is broken with only 1 equipment of each machine. They haven’t fixed stuff in so long.

Dumbbell rack is ALWAYS a mess. Dumbbells are never at their correct spot on the rack and they are always missing even if the gym is not crowded. There is always a huge gap of empty dumbbells.

If people are not putting the dumbbell in the correct spot, then the employees should occasionally scan the dumbbell rack and properly rack it.

Plenty of people using this facility all times of the day. Helps to motivate us to go regularly. Very large facility with tons of equipment. Lots of free group lessons too. Trained professionals also available for one-on-one lessons.

All the workers here are exceptionally trained, however Vu Dao stuck out from the rest. He’ll go above and beyond to cater for your needs. Although I live farther from this 24 hour establishment, will keep coming here for the vibrant atmosphere.

I have been coming to this location for the past 4 years and it has been amazing. They have all the machines and the staff is very friendly. The membership is much more reasonably priced than other centers and you can redeem a lot of perks with the membership.
