What's the use of having workers in the evening if the dudes aren't even mopping or sweeping the locker room until it's time to close and go home. This gym is absolutely filthy at night-Absolutely Filthy!! When Bryant and Polo were on it, there was some effort. These other guys are just here to check folks in. This is embarrassing. Constant piss smell, dirt and water everywhere, trash everywhere, so many lockers with dirty clothes and no locks on them. The shower is a health hazard. There's an older guy who cleans in the mornings, when the managers are working. At night, this place can be an utter disappointment and embarrassment. If I could find another pool close, I would leave this dump. Hell, I can't even be convinced that they clean the pool on a consistent basis. We have disgust8ng members who will rinse shoes off and clothing in it at times. Absolutely no pride. Are these pity or favor hires? This is ridiculous. With a male working, I'd think he can do more that fraternize and check in. I shouldn't have to search for other options, folks should do their jobs.

Kinda falling off. There's a constant piss smell in the locker rooms and even heading to the pool. When the remodel first happened they were on it but it's falling off. What will it take to get a constant mopping? The morning cleaning guy is great, we need someone in the afternoons. Still can't shower here.

This gym is easy to get comfortable with considering the atmosphere the staff provides. There is a great manager that is typically in the front to greet you named Leo. He is very professional and resourceful. He helped me set up my account and get started with my fitness journey. Without him I’m not sure where I’d be. He has also made impressive strides to ensure all the equipment is working properly for the members of the club.

Previous Post..24hour on 120th is in a predominantly black and brown community. The facility is not handled with care like the other facilities. I go because it's close to my home. Manhattan, Torrance and Santa Monica never has broken, smelly, or nasty equipment. It's sad and not acceptable. I'm going to see to these issues and make sure corporate is heavily involved. We pay for all amenities.

They have a trial pass, but it’s only available if they deem you worthy. After going online and initiating a trial pass, the website directed me to the in person kiosks.

After arriving and entering I located the kiosks and attempted to enter my information. That’s when Leo approached with no regard for personal space and without introduction to immediately tell me that a 25 minute or longer tour is required in order to start the trial pass. And that I needed to answer a series of questions prior to beginning my workout. After repeatedly asking both Leo and other staff if this requirement is correct, they finally affirmed that tours and questions were required to be completed prior to initiating my trial. I got the impression I was not welcome.

I understand the desire to show prospective customers the amenities of the gym, but forcing individuals on the other hand to sit through a presentation prior to starting a mere trial pass seems excessive.

Update: Completely remodeled, better everything. My most convenient location right off the 105.

Only wish all my visible areas or potentials to touch my stuff were cleaned more often. If I drop my towel next to treadmill/any machine against wall, I couldn't possibly use that same towel anymore. Not a fan of dusty areas or hand prints on glass walls. We inhale this stuff while we work out. 📓🖋 Ps. I'm overly observant of hygiene in places I leave my $$ @. 5 years later, it's the same issue. This gym is the most disgusting in the neighborhood, sauna and steam smells like cat piss, the jacuzzi has been broken for a month + , despite them renovating the gym recently, and it's already falling apart, no one takes care of the gym, staff just stand in front and chit chat, paper towel dispenser is always empty. I am not certain what is the management doing, but they are not doing something right. Wish management hire a cleaning crew, and put some effort to make this gym more upto 24 hour standards, even Compton 24 hour fitness is 10x better than this

One of the best upgrades I’ve seen at a gym in a long time! The recent renovations at this 24 Hour Fitness location are fantastic — cleaner spaces, updated equipment, and everything feels more open and refreshed.

What really stands out though is the cleanliness. The gym is much better maintained now, with staff constantly wiping down equipment and keeping locker rooms stocked and spotless. Big improvement from what it used to be.

And I have to give a huge shoutout to Rafa, he’s seriously amazing. Super helpful, always friendly, and clearly cares about the members. Whether it’s making sure machines are working, helping someone with a question, or just creating a positive vibe, Rafa is the kind of team member every gym needs.

If you’ve been on the fence about coming back, now’s the time. 💪

Well I’ve been coming to the gym before remodeling I love this gym because I lost 100 pounds here however, after remodeling gym still needs a lot of work Also they just shut down the workout room a minor crack NO NOT IN THE FOUNDATION BUT are still allowing ppl to workout in an area where the ceiling is leaking so I’m not understanding the logic but over all I like Most of the Staff ☺️

Terrible first experience at this location. On July 17th, I commuted nearly an hour to 24 Hour Fitness in Hawthorne just to be told I couldn’t get a 3-day pass because it was after 7pm — something that was never mentioned anywhere online. I explained the situation to both the front desk and the manager, and instead of making an exception or offering a solution, I was pressured into signing up for a full gym membership that I wasn’t ready for financially which I also expressed to the manager but he didn’t care about that.

It felt like I was being taken advantage of because I had no other choice after that long commute. Unprofessional, unwelcoming, and not the kind of treatment you’d expect when checking out a gym for the first time. I’m now stuck trying to get a refund and cancel something I never really wanted in the first place. Extremely disappointed.

The new set up sucks. Everyone hates it. They moved all the treadmills upstairs by the mirrors which is where all the machines and free weights should be. And then they put multiple squat racks downstairs all across from each other… I don’t know about you but I don’t wanna squat in front of another person in front of me, it should be a mirror instead. And don’t get me started on all the new machines… they’re all super assisted old people machines.. no free motion at all. It’s horrible.. and there’s only one leg curl machine and you guessed it, it’s super assisted. Definitely going to be looking for a new regular gym to go to. I’m disappointed in all of the changes.

This 24 Hour Fitness has one of the worst locker rooms I’ve ever experienced. The place reeks of urine all day, and it’s clear that cleaning is either minimal or completely neglected. There are no shower curtains—none. I’ve been to over 25 other 24 Hour Fitness locations, and every single one of them had at least curtains or even proper shower doors.

So why does this one get left behind? Locations like Santa Monica and Torrance get basic amenities, but this one is just ignored. I’ve brought it up to staff multiple times, but the vibe here is very much “we don’t care if you don’t like it.” Honestly, it feels like they’ve given up on trying—and expect members to just deal with it.

I was hopeful when I heard about the recent renovation at the Hawthorne 24 Hour Fitness — the upgraded gym equipment is a step in the right direction. Unfortunately, the improvements stop there. The locker rooms remain absolutely disgusting and unsanitary.

It’s clear the cleaning staff either isn’t doing their job or isn’t being given the resources to do it. Mold and mildew are everywhere, thanks in part to the poorly maintained sinks that overspray and flood the counters constantly. The stench in the locker room is overwhelming, and the showers look like they’re straight out of the 1950s — rusted, grimy, and long overdue for replacement.

The sauna is even worse: filthy, moldy, and somehow they still expect people to go in barefoot? Make it make sense. For a gym that recently invested in upgrades, it’s unacceptable that basic hygiene and cleanliness continue to be ignored.

Do better, 24 Hour Fitness. Your members deserve a clean, safe space — not just shiny new machines.
