Essentially a truck stop with workout equipment. The bathrooms and locker rooms are disgusting on a daily basis. Toilets will go weeks “out of order” and the others will be unreasonably dirty or unusable. Also the single soap dispenser in each bathroom is usually out.

They’re regularly out of paper towels/spray to clean the equipment with. Only about a third of the cardio equipment works. Truly unfortunate this is the only affordable gym in the area. If you can’t afford to meet sanitation standards, increase the rate

It’s pretty sad what has been happening here. Nobody cares anymore. I’ve never seen a gym where you have to compete/wait to use a treadmill daily. They have about 20 lined up there but only 5 or 6 work. It’s been like this for several weeks. The assault bike has been broken for months and nobody does anything, poor machine keeps moving places inside the gym. Rowers are broken as well. I thought after the closure of the club in Manhattan Beach things would get better here to adapt to the new expected flow of people. But that didn’t happen, it got worse. If someone from 24h fitness read this know that I don’t want you to reach out privately about it and I don’t want you to apologize on here. I want you to fix those issues otherwise I will probably have to look for other places because this is obnoxious. We all understand maintenance issues and machines getting broken, but when you don’t do anything about it and just let them rot there it’s a clearly sign of disrespect and disregard for your customers .

Signed up for a 3 day pass because I'm in town for a while. A nice guy called to set me up and everything. When I came in they turned me away because I had an out of state ID. I work as a travel healthcare professional and was going to buy a national membership but all I wanted to do was try it out first for three days. Front desk manager said “I don’t make the rules”. Definitely looking into other gyms now!

This is the dirtiest gym in America. And the staff is less than helpful. I recently got a guy smoking a vape in the pool area and inside the sauna. I emailed the GM multiple times with no response. I tried talking to a manager in person and she was completely apathetic. You will commonly see backed up drains and disgusting pools of pipe water sitting for hours and days at a time. This place needs a lot of help.

This is one of the most well equipped 24 Hour Fitness locations in a 30 mile radius. They have any piece of equipment you could think to use. Now, with that being said, the disgusting state of the locker room should be grounds for the department of health to shut the whole place down. Every toilet, urinal, and shower is cover in mold or rust. The urinals don't look like they've been cleaned in months and there's a putrid smell coming from each of them. The inexcusable filth of that locker room can only indicate that it's intentionally done to discourage its use and keep utility costs down.

“I brought my friend to the gym to use a three-day guest pass, but we had a really disappointing experience. A Black lady with yellow hair at the front desk was quite rude and told us that my friend couldn’t use the guest pass unless he signed up for a membership on the spot. We tried to explain that we just wanted to check out the gym, but she wouldn’t listen and basically forced us to leave because she wouldn’t let us work out. I am extremely disappointed. I used to go regularly to the 24 Hour Fitness on Rosecrans Ave in Manhattan Beach before it closed. That location was not perfect, but at least it was reasonably clean. Yesterday, September 25th, around 10:00 AM, I visited the Hermosa Beach location (1601 Pacific Coast Hwy Suite 100, Hermosa Beach, CA 90254) for the first time, and unfortunately, I was shocked by the lack of hygiene.

Despite being a larger gym, with more equipment, more staff, and in an excellent location, this facility is filthy. Some machines are broken, most are dirty, and the restrooms are in unacceptable condition. To be clear, the men’s restroom smelled so strongly of urine and filth that you literally have to hold your breath to go inside without feeling sick. The toilets were clogged with paper, urine was leaking from fixtures, and there were layers of dirt and grime that look like they’ve been building up for weeks, if not months.

Today was my second visit here, and unfortunately, it was no different. I even took photos that show the reality: trash on the floors, uncleaned toilets, stained treadmills, and overall neglect. It is obvious that no proper cleaning or disinfecting routine is in place. This situation is not only unsanitary but also depressing, especially considering how much potential this location has.

I am not asking for luxury equipment or high-end facilities—what members need most is basic hygiene and cleanliness. I counted more than 10 staff members during my visit, yet most were sitting around and not maintaining the gym. A professional cleaning company should be contracted to properly disinfect the gym every night, and staff during operating hours should be focused on constant upkeep.

At this point, the conditions are completely out of control. I am certain that if the Health Department inspected this facility, they would either shut it down or issue a serious warning. I will give it two days to see improvements. If not, for the safety and well-being of myself and other members (especially since many will now come here after the Manhattan Beach closure), I will escalate this matter to the 24 Hour Fitness corporate office as well as the local health authorities.

I was last at this club about six months ago, and I went in last night and found the decline bench still broken, as it was earlier this year. Nothing else has changed at this club, either, except for the AC, which isn't working in most places. See the fan in the photo? It's marked to not move it from the group X studio, which is also sweltering. (So what do they do in the weight room when there's a class? Die, I guess). AC is present in a small area where the selectorized machines are, and upstairs in an auxiliary cardio area. The rest of the club is uncomfortably hot. It is worth your while to NOT go to this club. It's not worth the pain. No doubt 24 will get on here and reply that "we have some improvement to make," but tell that to the broken, unusable decline bench, and the rest of the equipment with torn upholstery. 24 really cares about the Del Amo club, though.

The gym equipments are old but what is important for me is the trainer. Gregg is a very experienced who pushed me to transformed my body to a new level. I see a big change in my body and that is a good motivation for anyone who is starting from basic. I certainly will continue with Gregg Nagano. I feel much less stressed. The upstairs male locker room is disgusting. None of the sink faucets have been cleaned for months. Theres visible mold and algae growing on them. The sinks have mold in the corners. The toilets have mold growing in the bowls. Half the treadmills don't work. The drains in the pool area were backed up for weeks. The steam sauna is still broken. The showers were out of hot water for weeks. The jacuzzi was broken at one point. The escalator in the parking garage is always broken. The only easy thing about the place is the parking. This place needs to be reviewed by corporate. Whoever is the franchise owner neglects this location and very clearly refuses to pay for things unless they absolutely have to. Pure corporate greed.

50% of the treadmills are out of services. Every other machine is broken, tons of missing free weights and YOUNG teenagers (12-14) form lines around machines that do actually work and record each other. Service is super spotty making it challenging to even listen to music or validate parking. Lack of staff is insane.

They have not replaced non working lights in certain areas for quite some time now and let kids play basketball with no shirts, even when staff is present. The reality in the fitness industry is that most corporate gyms are unfit. Their goal is to increase membership, at the cost of cleanliness and sanitary conditions. Most are way over crowded. Your response to my review is the same cold response that you have given to the other reviews. Nothing positive has changed in years and years. In fact now it is worse than ever. Such lies and phoniness. Anyone reading these reviews and management responses can see rather quickly that management cares very little to improve a dire situation. I left a review about 6 months ago saying this place seemed to be turning around, well, that was short lived. I have been coming here for two weeks and their men's upstairs bathroom equipment is all blocked off. They don't seem to be in a hurry to fix that. The downstairs bathroom has 2 urinals and a toilet. 1 urinal clogged and overflowing, with the toilet stall looking like someone strapped dynamite to a bag of feces. A lot of the machines have greasy dust balls hanging out of the rotary points. I've had to let the front desk know multiple times that machines are broken. I don't normally speak on these types of matters, but whoever is in charge of running the location should never have been given the position. Every one of the mentioned issues are things that STICK OUT. I could only imagine if someone actually did an inspection, what they would find.

Gym has really been let go. Extremely dirty all the time. Urine and feces are omnipresent in the bathrooms on the floors walls and toilet seats. Staff are dismissive when brought to their attention. Most weights never re racked, you will come to gym at opening with the place still a mess from the day before. Equipment that breaks will stay broken, indefinitely. Most of the equipment that breaks simply is not fixed more than a year later. Seriously considering withdrawing my membership as this gym and chain seems to prioritize new members over maintaining their gyms. Friends and wife are disgusted to join me at my home gym, because it is filthy and broken. Gym used to have free parking, but now charging obscene amount for anything over 90min. I'm unable to get a full workout without paying a ton of money. Most people end up parking at Vons because the parking at gym is a joke, infuriating the businesses in that area. Not worth the money for the membership.

The bathrooms are disgusting. It smells worse than a Venice bum.
Idk how much more u have to spend to keep the busiest club in the country clean, but i think it's worth it.
As you can see from the other reviews, this isn't a one-time event. They have been gross for years now.
My wife wouldn't join the club because it's so bad that she joined Equinox instead.
Since corporate loves responding to reviews, they should escalate the resolution before the health department does it for them.

A lot of the elliptical machines don’t work and the ones that work make a terrible noise when you use them.

Yesterday (Thursday) there were dirty paper towels all over the floor. I don’t get how since last Tuesday there were no paper towels no where to clean the machines after we use them.

On my second week training a strange guy approached me to tell me that he “wants me” definitely not the only creepy guy I have seen at this gym.

When you arrive some of the desk stuff are very nice and some others won’t even lift their face to say hello because they are too busy on their phones

Very disappointed.

You can still work out here some machines work and they have a lot even though it can be crowded at times it’s still usable. I hope they take this reviews into consideration to improve. The space isn’t bad they got potential but in my opinion they need to try harder most of the reviews are this bad sadly.

It’s sad because i was a member here for years and used to love it. It was a great location, good hours, reasonable price. I've been going to the location on and off for years. Location is good, equipment is ok, yet declining in care. The bathrooms, especially the men's down stairs, need a TOTAL refresh. The up is not much better. For now, do a sweep with BLEACH 2-4 times a day and it would smell cleaner at least and get all the hair out of showers. Considering the area and caliber of other gyms in the area, this gym absolutely needs updating and more love. Up your game 24, please.

The one good thing I can say about the facility is the staff. Very friendly. I only went there because I was traveling in Hermosa Beach from NYC, it was close to my hotel and wanted to get a workout in while in town. This is the most run down gym I've ever visited in my over 30 years of using one. I went on 4 treadmills and it took the 5th to find one that works. The equipment looked donated, dirty and not maintained. I paid for a pass for 3 days and only went 1 day. If that's what 24 hour fitness gyms are like on the West Coast, they need to take notes from the East Coast. Never visited a 24 hour fitness facility on the East Coast so gross.

First of all, the name is a misnomer. It should be called “16 Hour Fitness”. Second of all, the place is constantly filthy. Even when they open, equipment is everywhere and the bathrooms are filthy. They seem to only hire sullen 20 something’s who are constantly on their phones, so it makes sense that their facility is constantly dirty. All around bad experience on a regular basis. Go somewhere else, even the Torrance location, because the Hermosa location is an all around hepatitis risk level of filth.

This is absolutely the worst gym ever... It's really dirty and the equipment is very poorly maintained. When a machine breaks down, they routinely take 8-10 months to fix it. They removed a whole bunch of treadmills for replacement and it seems like they've taken over 2 years to replace them. I generally go to another gym but I have this as a local backup. The restrooms are absolutely filthy and recently they've started to reduce the gym hours. It now shuts at 8 pm on Fridays instead of 10 pm. Not just that, the complex has now started to charge for parking, which effectively means spending 100s of dollars more per year on this dirty and exceedingly poorly maintained facility.

I had not been to this specific location in a little while but on my first time being back and having a parking fee is totally unacceptable. I have been a paying member of 24 hour fitness for almost 10 years now and it's just unacceptable that 24 hour fitness dors not provide completely discounted parking for their members. I have reluctantly joined this gym again thinking something may have changed here since I was a member in the past. Sadly, that is not the case.
Let's start with the overall cleanliness of the facility. To be brief, the place is filthy and I would be shocked if anyone was cleaning it all. The locker room/bathroom always stinks and there's always a urinal not working.
The maintenance of the equipment in general is absolutely deplorable. At least 20% of the equipment is broken or malfunctioning at any given time, especially the cardio equipment. One of the two urinals in each bathroom is out.
Finally, to add insult to injury they started a system that's going to turn into a daily charge for the parking lot. So even if they charge a $1.50 a day, that's going to add up to what the monthly membership to the gym, or close to it.
I wish I could say this is the only gym that's not so good, but I haven't been to one that is filthy and in disrepair. I'm am gravely disappointed with this organization. They have well equipped and large facilities, but clearly no one cares to maintain them.

Location recently limited their hours even more. While I understand that not all 24 hour fitnesses are 24 hour, they also should not be 12 hour fitness, opening at 8AM and closing at 8PM. Charging parking fees now, amounting to $30 a month if you go 2-3 a week. If gym was receiving updates/upgrades this may be tolerable but instead they have outdated, rusty machines and bathrooms are dirty and I wonder if there are health code violations.. management will reply to reviews stating that they are taking in feedback, but clearly no action has been taken and the situation at this gym continues to decline.

Here are the biggest issues:

Unhygienic Conditions: The gym hasn't been properly maintained, creating an unpleasant workout environment.

Limited Weekend Hours: Weekend hours are incredibly restrictive, only open from 8am to 8pm. This significantly limits accessibility for many gym members. It’s called 24 hour fitness but it’s only open for 12 hours.

Unheard-of Parking Charges: Starting May 1st, the gym will begin charging members for parking on top of their existing membership fees. This is a practice I've never encountered at any other gym in the US.

The only available parking structure will now charge to park. The gym notes that you will get a discounted rate of $1.50 for two hours. This amounts to $234 a year if you go to the gym 3 times a week or $546 if you go 7 days a week. This is a huge impact and needs to be addressed. The gym should provide validation parking at zero cost for the first two hours.

The urinals are corroded just from the urine breaking down the metals. Been a member since 2021 and over the past 3-4 months this place has been seriously declining beyond what the standard of any gym should be at. The bathrooms are disgusting and never attended to. I told a staff member yesterday about feces being smeared on the toilet-paper dispenser and the wall of the entrance level stall and he was extremely dismissive of my complaint. I checked back when I was finished with my workout and it still hadn’t been attended to. I took these pictures today and it’s still not cleaned. There has also been equipment breaking down more regularly. Lightbulbs over equipment has been out for months, making it unsafe for people to work out in. There used to be 3 towel dispensers as well in the free weight area, now there is 1 and it’s always empty or the spray bottles are empty; It’s a miracle I haven’t gotten a staph infection here yet. Judging by the reviews I’m reading it’s not worth my time addressing these concerns to the manager on site. Do better, 24 hour fitness. Your paying members deserve to work out in a clean and safe environment.

I’ve been to this gym many times at different hours. Of course the later the day the more the disorganization of weights, but no. I switched my routine to come at 5 am and I kid you not, after 5:30, 30 minutes after opening, all the weights are missing and not placed back. I don’t know if it’s the entitlement of my fellow neighbors or what but it blows my mind. Getting a workout here properly can be difficult as it’s busy or machines are broken. Most disgusting facility I’ve ever been to. I grew up in the South Bay and used to come here all the time as a youth. This gym has completely gone downhill. Sauna is filthy. Hasn’t been cleaned in months. Management flat out lies about it too. They have a sign that says no shoes yet the floor hasn’t been cleaned in weeks. I got athletes food from it once already so I refuse to not wear shoes. Unsanitary and unhealthy facility that should really be shut down at this point. Cough drops and trash left on the workout floor for weeks. Nobody sweeps or maintains the weight area. It’s not even open 24 hours anymore. It’s safe to say I’ll be cancelling my membership to this “gym”. I DO NOT RECOMMEND COMING HERE.

I’ve been coming to this gym since July 2022 mostly due to proximity and cost. You totally get what you pay for here… it’s definitely the most value friendly gym in the area. Most other gyms are double the price. There is always broken equipment and it’s incredibly crowded during prime time hours. I personally have never been to a less clean gym, the bathrooms and locker rooms are disgusting. The staff knows that they will retain members regardless of the condition of the gym due to the cost of other gyms in Hermosa / Manhattan. I used to belong to another 24 in pacific beach, San Diego where I would always see staff cleaning around the gym, forget about it at this location. Other than cost, they do have a working steam room and sauna which is great. If you’re like me and can’t justify an expensive gym membership this is your spot.

Went in here to check this gym out because I just moved to the area and it has terrible reviews. I got the free 3-day pass online, and when I got there, the guy at the front desk said they were not honoring it and that I’d have to buy a 3-day pass for $25. I have a corporate benefit that allows my gym membership at 24 Hour Fitness to be $28/month with no commitment. So buying a $25 pass for 3 days just to see the gym would have been idiotic. Anyways, I just left the gym because it has 3 stars for a reason. I’ll find another in the area, and wouldn’t recommend anyone come here.

Relocated from the Bellflower location in Long Beach which was always clean and you would see staff cleaning all hours. They don’t even try at this location, which I don’t get because it’s a nice gym. Bathrooms are dirty and they literally turn the sauna off at 7 everyday. Multiple people have complained and they literally give a bogus response about it being on east cost time like they can’t fix it. You have tons of people paying for memberships, at least clean the bathrooms and attempt to change rather than acknowledging the complaints with a generic response. Seems like a management issue at this point.

I’m seeing reviews on here saying the gym is dirty. To be frank, it’s about what you’d expect. Other than the locker room and toilets (which could use a little bit of work) it isn’t so bad. The equipment is pretty standard. I wish they would have more weight clips, safety bars, and 5/10lb weights. But overall, this gym is great if you’re looking to get in and out for a workout.

The women's lockeroom has SEVERAL BROKEN LOCKERS THAT WON'T LET SOMEONE CREATE A COMBINATION CODE. A female employee offered to hold my keys while I was at the gym, but with all due respect, I'm not giving her my keys. The best solution is for 24 Hour Fitness to fix all broken lockers and properly maintain all their gyms.

Hope you dont mind germs. After switching to this location gym after the one on artesia closed down. I miss the other one. I think its a very dirty gym, i go 5 times a week and I never see anyone walking around cleaning the machines that works there. Ever. Not sure if they even do that here. At the artesia blvd i would see people every time I was there that worked there going around and cleaning all machines. Cleanliness 0/10
