The recent face-lift slapped lipstick on a facility that has declined from being simply dirty, to gross, to truly disgusting. The men's locker room is a sty. The urinals overflow, showers don't work, floors are dirty. Management continues to overlook basic maintenance and sanitation. I chose this gym because of its proximity to my home. I've decided to drive further on to find a gym that isn't so nasty.

I have never experienced a dirtier, unsanitary gym like this 24 hour in laguna niguel. Truly disgraceful, everything is, equipment, benches, weights, locker room, floors are totally disgusting. I gave it a few times but it is truly unacceptable for a gym to be so badly dirty! I don't think they ever clean anything.
Bottom lime the "owner" of this gym plainly refuses to spend a dime to make this place cleaner and look like a sanitary place.

⭐️ 1 Star Review – Very Disappointed with Personal Training Experience

I purchased an 8-session personal training package at 24 Hour Fitness in June, expecting to finish it within a month. However, my schedule was changed almost every single time by the trainers. Because of this issue, I had to constantly adjust my own schedule to match theirs, which was very inconvenient and stressful.

Over the course of three months, they even changed my trainer three times, and the constant rescheduling made it impossible to complete the sessions as planned. After all this time, I still have two sessions left, and when I requested a refund for those, the gym refused to issue it.

This whole experience was extremely frustrating and unprofessional. I would not recommend purchasing personal training sessions here — there’s no consistency, poor management, and zero accountability for their scheduling problems.

Unfortunately, I’m really disappointed and honestly shocked by the poor hygiene and overall quality at this 24 Hour Fitness location.

I used to be a member at Chuze Fitness, which I loved — it was clean, affordable, and had everything included (sauna, massage chairs, tanning, and more) for just $19.99 a month. When I moved to this area and realized there was no Chuze nearby, I decided to give 24 Hour Fitness a try. Sadly, it turned out to be a mistake.

The membership here costs $42, and if you want to access the massage chairs, they charge an additional $10 — plus an annual fee — which brings the total to around $52 a month. For that price, I expected at least decent quality, but the experience was far from it.

The front desk staff were unprofessional and not very helpful. Most of the equipment is old, greasy, rusted, and covered in dust — it looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in ages. The overall atmosphere just feels uncomfortable and neglected.

The bathrooms were the worst part — dirty floors, broken shower doors, and toilets that don’t even work properly. I honestly don’t know how this facility is still operating in such condition.

After just two weeks, I canceled my membership without hesitation. I regret not trying the free 7-day pass before signing up — lesson learned. There are so many other gyms in the area that offer better quality, cleaner facilities, and lower prices.

In my opinion, this location seriously needs major improvements in cleanliness, maintenance, and professionalism. Until that happens, I wouldn’t recommend this gym to anyone.

I want to give a huge shoutout to Monee, the maintenance/cleaning staff at this 24 Hour Fitness location. The sauna is spotless every time I come in. The floors are clean, it smells fresh, and it’s clear he takes real pride in his work.
I had actually cancelled my membership in the past because the facility wasn’t being maintained well, but since coming back, I’ve really noticed the difference. Monee’s attention to detail and friendly attitude make a big impact. It’s great to see his smiling face in the mornings!
The front desk team is also very friendly and welcoming, especially during those early hours. It’s refreshing to see the positive changes here. Keep up the great work! 💪🏽✨

I had a very bad experience at this location. They gave me a 3-day trial pass. I only used it once, but because of back pain I couldn’t use the other days. I called and one of the staff told me it would be fine, I could still come in. However, when I went in, the manager Josh was extremely rude and dismissive. I explained that I had only used the membership for one day and that his colleagues told me I could adjust the start date, but he responded very unprofessionally, saying, “whoever told you that was wrong.” His attitude was insulting, and I felt completely disrespected. I had even convinced my husband to try joining here instead of his current gym, but after this experience, I would never recommend this location to anyone. Customer service and respect should come first, and unfortunately, Josh failed in both areas.

⚠️ Terrible experience!
Customer support is absolutely useless — they don’t solve any issues. In the evening it’s impossible to work out: the machines I need are always taken. There’s an unpleasant smell in the showers. The showers are cramped and uncomfortable, the sauna is so small you have to stand, and there’s no comfort at all. The pool is dirty and unpleasant to use.

I expected a completely different level of service from 24 Hour Fitness, but it turned out to be a total disappointment. 👎

Update August 15 2025:

The pool does not seem to be the cleanest! There is always leaves/dirt in the pool and sometimes it’s cloudy, it tastes salty so not sure if they add salt? I don't think the filter works properly or they add enough chlorine! I can tell they don’t maintain it properly on daily basis!

I previously gave this gym 1 star, but I’m now raising it to 3 stars because the new remodel is outstanding! There are plenty of squat racks, and what’s even better is that they’re positioned directly in front of mirrors; thank you to the manager and remodel team for being thoughtful about proper form. Whoever led this remodel truly did an amazing job.

I’ve been a member here for 15 years, and this is by far the best remodel yet. The space feels much larger and clearly well-planned. The crowd has also improved; more adults and professionals, which makes for a much better environment.

This location is legendary. Back when Agassi owned it, it was incredible, and with this remodel, it finally feels like those days again. Honestly, with how it looks now, why would anyone go to Lifetime? This easily beats it! My only concern is that it doesn’t go downhill again, but for now, I’m thrilled to see it back to its best.

Review: from 2 years ago: Horrible. It is extremely crowded. I avoid going to gym because It just gets so packed here. I used to go here over 6 years ago then i stopped, but moved back to orange county again and signed up again. It is nothing like how it used to be. Squat racks used to be in front of mirrors and now they are in the middle of the gym with no mirrors. Wait time is long for almost 80% of the equipments. Lots of high school kids. Lots and lots of people at any time during the day. Just really disappointed. Membership became so cheap and they signed up literally everyone in town and attracted really young crowd. The crowdedness is not normal. It is overpacked at all times. And it’s mostly guys. This gym is nothing like before. There used to be professionals, adults who worked out here and now there is just no balance in age group. Mostly high schoolers and younger guys and they are all over the gym all the time. Bathroom are always dirty and stinky too.

The executive locker room is not cleaned at all, essentially never. I have repeatedly complained, to no avail. Also, it was just confirmed by 24 Hour, that the cleaning service essentially does not clean in the executive locker room, ever. It is also very hot in there. 24 Hour always keeps the temperature at 74 degrees, which is way too hot for a locker room.

I'm grateful that there is a 24 hour Fitness location that is actually open 24 hours a day and they have a lovely little stretching room. Unfortunately, the steam room had a very unpleasant odor and the women's locker room and showers were dirty and funky. But that may just be inconsiderate members and not necessarily a management issue. I might try this location again next week and have a better overall experience. The gym is huge and has plenty of machines and dumbbells to get in shape. The staff is great and very welcoming. The only reason I am giving it two stars is the Men's locker room. It's so hot and humid in there. That's a breeding ground for bacteria and fungi. The rest of the facility is nice and cool, but please fix the AC in the men's locker room. It seems that it's set to 79 or 78 but it feels like 89 and humid. Not dry and cool.

Overall, this 24 Hour Fitness is the best commercial gym in the area. It has a suitable mix of free weights, machines, and barbell platforms. Additionally, it is a true 24 hour gym, which is rare these days. What hurts this gym’s rating is the spotty cleanliness, machines frequently out of order, and lack of fractional plates (prepare to take a hike to find a 2.5lb plate). The gym would do well to make the equipment in the private training/class room more available, including an additional smith machine, and offering more portable benches (the vast majority of them are bolted to the ground). Otherwise, I believe this 24 Hour Fitness is a good value for the money.

I was quite disappointed with the pool facilities. The pool itself was not clean, as the water contained many leaves and debris, which was very surprising and unpleasant to see. The number of poolside chairs was limited, and unfortunately, those available were also not properly cleaned.

Even though I went early in the morning, the shower area was already in poor condition, with unclean surfaces and a clogged drain that caused the water to drain very slowly.

Overall, I believe the management should pay much more attention to cleanliness and proper maintenance, as members naturally expect higher standards in such facilities.

Update: I’m no longer a member. From the coed crowded and dirty feeling sauna, old cardio machines that don’t run smoothly and always have used paper towels in the cup holders, and limited equipment/crowd I’ve decided this isn’t the place for me.

The gym could be cleaner members leave trash on equipment and it’s not always attended to in a timely manner.

Monee is one of the few staff members who stood out in a positive way. He is very solution driven, kind, and went above and beyond. He gets 5 stars on kindness hospitality and problem solving but overall the gym… well

UPDATE COMING THIS WEEK 8/25 WAIT FOR IT!! This place always has broken machines. The curling machine has been broken for 2 1/2 weeks and I’ve called the manager many times to complain and the manager never calls me back (this is one of the clubs Most used machines )There’s multiple machines broken in here right now. There’s never paper towels, and the sanitizing dispensers are sometimes empty for days on end. This place needs a manager who cares about the place. There has been a piece of gum in the front table for three months on a table at the entrance of the building. It looks like the manager doesn’t care and has completely abandon the store. This place needs a new manager ASAP.

24 Hour Fitness in Laguna Niguel is my home gym. It’s a single story gym with a massive space for cardio, weights, machines, and classes.

At the entrance, there are two consistent people that greet me in the morning: Bree and Todd. Love these people!

Given the size of the gym, they seem to be short-staffed, but I must say Monee has been amazing in contributing to the cleanliness of the gym, particularly in the sauna and steam room. On top of that, he always finds a way to put a smile on my face after a hard workout. I would highly recommend you check out this gym.

I had to call 911 to protect my self against an employee ( not wearing a name tag ) at 4:20 am

I was just shaving my face and drying my hair .. that is all I was doing … in executive men lockers room ..

Employee was repetitively harassing me including on my other visit in the past and this time threatening me to cancel my membership etc. and he even physically threatened me this time ..

I asked him please talk to his manager so he will tell him that I paid for executive membership but since there was no available locker manager refunded me and add my name on “wait list “ and he told me that he will give me the code to the locker room so I can still use it until I got my locker .
He violated my space several times and walked towards me as if he is going to punch me
And I did step back away and I called 911

He didn’t disclose his name to me and to sheriff …
He told me don’t come back again !

He threatened me also that he is going to come after me and find out who I am ...

The locker rooms are probably the most filthiest disease ridden parasitic on the planet worse than a live concert bathroom with 20,000 people drinking booze!!!! Feces on the floors and even in the steam and saunas, fecal matter is left for days. Suana steam are never cleaned they sit dirty for days even weeks. Everything is always broken and takes weeks to fix. They have a lazy staff maintenance just hangs out custodial also this place charges way to much to be do gross!!!! Dust on the machines sits years, hairs, gum, trash sit for months on end . The same dead fingernail has been floating around to diffenrt parts of the floors for weeks now ! This place needs to really step it up it’s so sad it used to be a great gym and they cared now they don’t at all. Walls are ugly and bland and the 24 logo all over them, we already train there we don’t need to be advertised to !! The old motivational walls were better!! This place needs a real investigation. This 24 hour Fitness in Laguna Niguel is subpar. The workout room does not have air conditioning! They claimed to be working on it for Months, but now the work is complete, and the room is still hot.They brought In noisy fans that do nothing. Seriously? They can’t even buy a room air conditioner? Too cheap to get some decent fans that aren’t noisy? You need to treat the customer better than this.

Every piece of equipment needs a QR code tag that links to an asset page in the app, allowing members to easily report issues or request service. I fell off one of the bikes today because the pedal clip was worn out. I’m okay, but it really scared me. I tried another bike and it worked fine, so the issue is specific to that one. Please fix and maintain the bikes regularly—someone could get seriously hurt.

I have been to a lot of other 24 Hour Fitness, but this one is by far the dirtiest facility.
I have been coming to this facility for the last week and there is mold in the sauna and it has never been clean in the five days that I have came here. The bathroom floors appeared as if they have not been cleaned There’s leftover clothes all in the men’s Locker room. I must say it does appear as if someone has emptied the trash, but in the five days that I have been coming here, the sauna has never been clean nor have the men’s locker room floor has not been cleaned.

**One of the Worst Gym Experiences in 45 Years**

I've been working out for over four decades, and 24 Hour Fitness Laguna Niguel ranks among the most frustrating gym experiences I've ever had. After the remodel, they removed the basketball court to expand the fitness floor—only to cram in more equipment without properly maintaining or upgrading what was already there.

They added several plate-loaded machines but *didn’t add any new weight plates*. So now, the few plates they have are scattered across the gym. Most machines have one or two plates—many have none. You’ll waste more time walking around begging for plates than actually lifting. It’s a joke.

The dumbbell area is even worse. Total chaos. No organization, no numbering on racks, and matching pairs are a scavenger hunt. You’ll find one dumbbell on one side of the gym and the other buried somewhere else. And who’s going to haul 90 lb dumbbells 20 yards just to re-rack them?

Let’s not even get started on the locker rooms—they're *disgusting*. Broken urinals, a constant foul urine smell, and barely any staff maintaining the area. The overall cleanliness and maintenance are abysmal.

I would rather drive 20 minutes to EOS in San Clemente than workout in this dump that's only 5 minutes from my house. If you're looking to add stress, waste time, and leave your workout more annoyed than energized, this is your place.

Whomever overseen this remodel and club should be fired.

The LN gym location itself is excellent and renovated. It's an amazing value. Crowded at regular times. Sauna area is great too. Shower areas could be cleaner, for sure. Front desk, tall guy, consistently shows POOR customer service, poor member recognition and is unfriendly, compared to the San Juan Capistrano 24 gym location; this is live as of June 10, 2025 3PM. For context, I belong to 3 different national gym chains, and I come to this gym location at least once a week on a consistent basis.

Renovations are really nice, and overall there is a lot to love, however, the cooling can’t keep up in these summer months and that makes for an unpleasant workout experience. Routinely see the thermostat set to 74 but actual temps sustained as high as 80 degrees.

Been going to 24 for quite a few years and I’ve never come across such strong customer service at any other gym thanks to Monee and Todd!! They make a casual entrance to the gym super welcoming and inviting, always remembering your name, coming by to say hi, giving compliments and words of encouragement, those things make a huge difference in your workout and your day. Since renovating they are actually discouraging new members. I went in and the asst. mgr took great pride in telling me the previous 3 potential new members just walked out without bothering to try the gym. After wasting another 5 minutes of my time telling me I shouldn't expect to get to see the gym since it's been renovated without paying her, I left.
They texted several times asking me to come in and redeem my free guest pass and then showed up to be told to leave.

Leaving a 5 star review for several reasons…

1. The remodel and new equipment/layout is AWESOME this was already one of my favorite 24 hour locations but the remodel made it even better.

2. The outdoor sauna alone is enough to give it 5 stars.

3. As far as cleanliness goes I would usually give this place a -7 because the men’s bathroom is atrocious constantly. Over the last 6 weeks or so I had notified significant improvements in regards to sanitation. The men’s restrooms have been maintained (finally), the sauna is getting deep cleaned/pressure washed weekly, all the dust and cobwebs around the stair masters and treadmills is regularly being cleaned up. Overall HUGE improvements over the last 2 months as far as cleanliness.

We switched our membership from another gym due to access to a pool. The pool tastes like salt water and that’s not because it’s a salt water pool but it’s the sweat. It is not getting cleaned up to scale. Not an encouragement for me to want to swim laps.

We loved our old small gym and the spin bikes, if one broke, by the next session it was fixed. Disappointedly, not the case at the Laguna Niguel 24 hr gym. The instructors are amazing and luckily they stay at this gym even with dilapidated bikes. Only five out of 23 spin bikes actually fully work. Either a monitor is broken, bike can’t be adjusted, clip doesn’t work, etc.
the gym is big and has a number of lifting opportunities. This is a plus but for stretching, mats are almost nonexistent. Nobody is wiping down the equipment due to lack of cleaning sprays nearby. Only on the perimeter and too few to make someone clean up.
Yes, the price is great but at what cost do you decide the health of your clients is more important?
Please take into account the cleanliness of your gym which affects the health of your clients.

This gym is so dirty. I heard that they just updated some facilities last year, but when I came here, I felt that many places were disgusting. The staff was very negligent and not serious at all. The water in the swimming pool spa was very dirty and turbid. The staff said that they would change the water if they felt it was dirty. They didn't have massage therapy functions. They said it often broke down. They didn't think this was part of their service. There were also many places in the girls' bathroom without doors and no protective curtains. The sauna was even more disgusting. It was moldy and smelled bad. I will never go to this place again!

Great gym, especially since the remodel. Good mix of machines and free weights. Only issue is not enough 10lb plates which are very useful if you trying to transition to higher total weight in smallish steps. A lot of other lifters have mentioned this to me.

If I could give 24 hour Laguna Niguel zero stars, I would. While the instructors for spin should get 5 stars, the bikes get negative 5 stars. People are going to other gyms due to the inability of 24 hour to maintain their equipment and the lack of cleanliness at the facility (sometimes you have to hold your nose when you go into the restrooms -also often out of toilet paper or toilet seat covers). See pics below of dilapidated equipment. Out of 25 bikes, maybe 1 is in acceptable condition. Only 6 monitors work properly (if they have one). Do you guys even care??? I think not - when a machine has an out of order sign, it usually takes a minimum of 2 weeks, if not months to fix it. You spent money remodeling this location, but it looks like you put lipstick on a pig.
A fellow member has told me that upon questioning management about the poor condition of the spin bikes, they were told that the spin room will soon be discontinued and the room will be converted to a post workout room. This is very disappointing and if true, will lead to customers leaving 24 hr for other gyms. I hope that is not the case!

Filthy… absolutely filthy and disgusting locker rooms, shower, and group class room. I thought after their ‘supposed’ grand re-opening the place would be a little cleaner. I’m willing to bet the class room gets cleaned about once every couple of years. They charge extra $45 month to use the executive room with sauna and shower. Haven’t seen the inside but I’m sure it’s kept cleaner. Extra star for friendly staff.

Great gym. Tons of equipment. Actually open 24 hrs a day. Heated pool, hot tub and saunas. I see many comments bashing just about every gym for this and that... guess I'm just easy going as I do not see what they see. The gym doesn't smell bad, locker rooms seem clean to me. I love this place! I have been going to this gym for about 6 months now and it’s be great, I love using all the amenities like the sauna and tanning by the pool along with my regular workouts! The staff is amazing as well, I lost my beautiful diamond necklace the other day and I was devastated but Monee and Daniel were so hopeful I’m finding it! Thank god for Monee, he found my sentimental piece by the pool and kept it safe for me! Once again the place is amazing and so are their staff!

The reviews are the best indicator for any business quality which obviously the manager here is not paying any attention to them unless it’s positive!

1. The first priority for any business must be the cleanliness of the place & it’s very odd that the manager of this branch with all the income coming in would not pay for a good cleaning service.

2. There are many older people in this area but, no beginner or moderate classes for yoga or zumba is offered. I tried gold Zumba & have heard from others that after years it is still very hard & fast for them as it was for me.

If no better classes are offered soon, I am considering going to LA Fitness because of the cleanliness & more suitable classes offered.

Although the staff is always friendly and helpful, the gym itself is absolutely disgusting and neglected. Constantly overflowing trash and probably the dirtiest bathrooms and lockers I've ever seen. The equipment is filthy, and the towels and disinfectant are always empty.

The first few weeks from the upgrade were great. But there are things already falling apart in the gym from the upgrade. The dirt and grime on all the machines building up again. The wall literally coming apart from unskilled labor. The bathroom is still horrific. At first glance this gym is beautiful and ready. I’ve always had a great experience at this gym! But ever since they took out the basketball court and completely revamped the workout area it’s been amazing. I went into add my daughter to my membership and Gaby was amazing! She made it quick and easy and it is an absolute pleasure to work with. I will definitely be referring more people to the gym and have them ask for her.

I’ve been coming more consistent and every time I walk in I’m greeted by Kevin who goes above and beyond to make sure you are having a good day and ready for a workout. My daughter also said she loves interacting with Kevin. Says he’s hilarious!

When it comes to diet advice and training, Daniel is the man. Always quick to share training tips and is always Asking for people that I might know interested in training or nutrition. He’s eager to help everyone achieve their fitness goals. Definitely ask for him if you’re looking to put on some lean muscle or just shed some extra pounds for the summer!
