Unprofessional and racist staff. A staff member got into a very minor argument with me and continued to escalate the situation further and physically threatened me. Will not be coming back and definitely do not recommend. Machines break often and take months to repair, bathrooms smell terrible and aren’t cleaned and overall the gym is just dirty

Newpark Mall 24 Hour Fitness isn’t a perfect gym, but it’s definitely a big step up from the Automall location. It’s cleaner, more organized, and at least there aren’t groups having a full feast at the front desk. The gym still needs some work, but the difference is noticeable.

Huge shoutout to Rhay-he’s friendly, knows everyone, and is the only staff member I consistently see keeping the gym tidy. He picks up trash, refills sanitizers, replaces paper towels, and keeps the place presentable.

The rest of the morning staff (2:30AM - 4:30AM) mostly sit at the front desk, sometimes with their feet up, constantly on their phones and not even acknowledging customers walking in. I’ve never seen them do what Rhay does.

I’ve also started noticing more Automall gym goers trickling into this location, and they’ve mentioned the same issues I left for — cleanliness and lack of staff engagement.

Overall, not perfect — but far better than Automall, thanks largely to one hardworking employee, and that’s why I give this location a 3 star but adding 1 for Rhay’s friendliness and attentiveness.

Awful experience. First, a year ago my back pack was stolen from swimming pool locker room. I came out from swimming on bare swimming suit to realize the locker where my luggage was had different lock. I asked 24 hours manager to open that section and she, very unfriendly told me that "they need to wait 24 hours before opening the door". I asked how I can stay for a day having no clothes on me. She replied " call the police". During that time to get to my home , one hour time, all of my credit cards were loaded to possible max before credit companies froze the accounts. Using three gas stations and four stores nearby. The police department didn't help much not been able even to get cameras video information from this horrible place.

Now, a year after, this place is falling completely apart. Hair dryers don't work, bathroom place is dirty and half of showers don't work as well. Jacuzzi water is cold.

I made them multiple remarks last few months. No response. Lame excuses that there is management problem and so on.

This place better be closed forever if there would be no changes. A waste of your time and money. I just switched to different location which is a bit better. But not much. This whole 24 hours business is bad to high heaven.

The front desk employee refused to let us meet with the manager we had an appointment with (everything was already set up, just needed a signature). Instead, he spent over 30 minutes trying to make a sleazy sales pitch, repeatedly insulting my boyfriend and me and ignoring our clear “no.” He mocked my boyfriend’s weight, bench press, and gym habits, claiming to be an “athlete” while trying to pressure us into expensive training packages we didn’t want. He even argued with me about pricing, demanding $350 up front despite a lower deal his manager had already approved. He ignored our appointment and was openly disrespectful the entire time. I eventually walked out because of how rude and predatory he was. I feel bad for the manager who actually helped us set everything up. Avoid this place if you expect basic respect.

First and last time at this gym.
Fortunately, we only went to swim. From the beginning, paying for our visit was very confusing . we were given many different prices, and the staff at the lobby contradicted each other. They told us it was only for locals (which we are). In the end, we paid because we just wanted to swim.

The pool temperature was fine, although there are only two lanes. But the condition of the showers was awful. Some had no lights, others were flooded, some seemed reserved, and the few usable ones were dirty with hair, paper, cotton pieces, and more. I ended up leaving in a rush because it was so unpleasant.

I am going to this gym with one of my buddy for over 10 months. In last few months, this gym is looking in pretty bad shape, machines are broken for months, toilets are is really bad shape, bathrooms are disgustingly bad. Complained several times to the gym staff but they repeatedly mentioned that corporate office manages all repairs and they can’t do anything. I really hope that corporate office and staff take this seriously before health safety department shut this off.

Updates: Few weeks back I was speaking Indy a new manager and he promised to make things better by Q4 of this year. In last few weeks I been noticing a huge improvement in equipment’s readiness, cleanliness and attention to guest at the reception. Huge kudos for these positive improvements and looking forward to get even better over next few more weeks. I highly appreciate Ken a trainer in NewPark Mall who is also always amazingly supportive for any concerns and willingness to help. Keep this good work!!

Two of the five sinks in the men's room have been broken for over a year. None of the four water fountains upstairs have enough water pressure to reach one's mouth. I have complained to management numerous times verbally and via email about these issues and nothing has been done. Equipment is aging and often broken for long periods of time. There aren't enough varied handle attachments (ropes, close-grip handles) for the cable machines. Showers are always littered with phlegm and hairballs. It's truly in a sad state. It would take very little investment and upkeep to dramatically improve the conditions. I would not recommend becoming a member here.
EDIT: As of yesterday 9/3, one of the two toilets in the men's locker room was out of service. I replied to the automated response from the club, followed the link and submitted an email, but I don't expect anything to come of that because it's the second time I've emailed the headquarters directly through the "contact us" portal on the website.

Worst first time experience ever. I saw a three-day pass online for 24 Fitness and chose Newpark Mall, Newark CA location since I am from nearby Fremont. Even after seeing my ID, guy at counter says I'm not "local". Since when is Fremont area not local to Newark? The two twin cities are separated by the highway! Guy called another guy all in black and he kept repeating I am not local. Your fine print says Pass Good At Multiple Locations. I pointed that out but nameless guy in all black could not explain what Pass Good At Multiple Locations meant and kept saying "locals only." I insisted on talking to owner/manager and he would not give a number. He called up security instead. Security asked me to leave - I said I needed a number to call. The woman security would not give me the number to owner/boss she had on a post-it note, saying I had to leave FIRST. Very shoddy unacceptable behavior from people working your counter. I have pics of the two security and your guy in all black who could not explain the fine print PASS GOOD AT MULTIPLE LOCATIONS. DOES THIS LINE CONTRADICT "LOCAL RESIDENTS ONLY" - HOW DO YOU DEFINE LOCAL?

24 Hour Fitness at NewPark Mall has 2 floors including a pool, a basket court, a fitness studio , and various treadmills and the gym equipment. It is always crowded but since the gym is so huge, I can exercise whatever/whenever I want. But there is one hiccup that is the gym is not clean and there is a lot of dust. I can feel the gym rarely cleans the facility. Hope the gym will clean at least 2 times per week.

Men's Locker Room
There are plenty of lockers available for members. However, the floors are noticeably dirty and would benefit from hourly sweeping and mopping. Only about half of the showers are functional, with one stall having only scalding hot water. Additionally, several of the shower soap dispensers are empty.

Swimming Pool
The pool features two (25 yard / 23 meter) lanes, which are ideal for lap swimming. The water clarity I would give a 3 or 3.5/5. Members are generally respectful and mindful of sharing the space with others. Note there are three days a week a swim school books one of the lanes for swim classes.

Jacuzzi
The water temperature in the jacuzzi is excellent (between 40-42 celsius) and consistently comfortable.

Steam Room and Sauna
Both were operational during my visits.

As I'm too busy to organize members to boycot this 24 fitness workout center, I personally choose not to go and I talk my husband and friends into cancelling the membership. We don't deserve to be treated like this. The filthy bathroom bothers me a lot; the yoga floor is very very dusty that I am concerned with breathing dust while laying on my yoga mat. And all these are visible to our eyes. If this is how the club holds their standard for hygenic; how about the things we can't see with naked eyes - like the drinking fountain 's filter may be never replaced on time; the sweimming pool water may be never clearned regularly...I know club members should maintain the decency while using the club to halp maintain the cleaniness, but at this point, I doubt the club management is putting in their due share to keep it clean. I actually just want to give half a star, but it does not go through

This gym has deteriorated severely in the last year. Been a member for several years now and it’s in the worst possible condition. More than 50% of showers and faucets are broken (literally and nonfunctional as well). The pool is often very murky and probably not even safe to swim including today. Lifting equipment are missing parts. Sad and disappointing to see this gym which used to be great until a year ago. The front staff and trainers are awesome but there is little they can do to fix these.

I strongly advise against purchasing a membership at 24 Hour Fitness. The air conditioning is constantly broken, making it uncomfortable and even unsafe to work out—especially during warmer months. On top of that, a large number of machines are either broken or in poor condition, and they rarely get repaired despite repeated complaints.

The facility feels neglected, and management doesn’t seem to care about maintaining basic standards. There are far better gyms in the area that are cleaner, better maintained, and actually prioritize member experience. Save your money and look elsewhere!

The people in the gym make this club great! Would love to see the machines get fixed faster but it’s definitely a club with potential. Okenna and Indy are on it, seeing changes slowly but the energy is amazing

Update: video showing non functional bath rooms, lacking soaps
9 bathrooms. 5 of them had empty soap dispensers. the showers only provide hot water. doesnt switch to colder water on turning the knob. many shower gates lack the translucent film on the glass doors.
sauna room has been closed due to malfunctioning heating for last 3.5 months at least. It still is not working.
last year, the steam room had similar issue and was down with similar timelines.
Dont waste your money here.

This gym sucks. It was amazing when it opened up 10+ years ago. It's lacking improvements on many of their consistently broken equipment. Today, if I had to join and pay the premium payments, I would NOT join. Fortunately I'm grand fathered with a very good annual membership.

-It's hot and muggy

-Equipment are always breaking down. Go see for yourself and you'll see the same equipment broken for months if not even years.

-Service sucks.. their employees bug you as they need the equipment to train their clients.

-sprays, paper towels to clean are always empty or broken. So good luck getting a clean station to work on.

It definitely needs a remodel.

*I joined another gym that's a lot better and use 24 hrs as a backup since my membership is so cheap.

No stars if an option ,waste of space literally trash everywhere machines are broken and rusted need to be oiled the floor has not been mopped or swept, staff is no where to be found poor management or none at all looks like the case better off with a private gym membership. Don’t waste your time at all nothing is working, coming here you will get sick from no hygiene maintenance at all.

Sauna broken not even taped off or locked. You can walk in there and smells like mold and very damp. When I asked when the sauna will be open the staff member chuckled and said “never”. Avoid this gym

CORPORATE GREED ! I have been working out at this Newark location regularly
since they moved accros from the old location near Hometown buffets for many years . Yesterday the black kid at the front desk refused to let me in and ASKED MORE MONEY TO UPGRADE MEMBERSHIP. ....they said it's now Supersport. I was working out at Oakland Supersport by the Home Depot the day before , one oriental guy gave me the hustle and the 2nd front desk a white guy the manager let me in to work out.
I was at the whats called SUPERSPORT ocation on Friday and the showers was THRASH
I see more people working out at Planet fittness these days and they are open more hours than 24hr fitness .. The name 24hrs is misleading

Dirty, Dirty, dirty. broken equipment that doesn't seem to ever get fixed.. over a year and not fixed. The worst gym around fremont. Management doesn't seem to care or hire cleaning / maintenance people. Please do not sign up for this gym. I would not recommend it. Management keeps saying sorry they dropped the ball on this. But nothing ever gets done. Horrible! Do not come here..

Our family uses different parts of the gym, so it serves all of our exercise needs. The trainers are what makes this location our favorite.

Our 16 year old and his trainer, Ken, have a very good relationship. Our son is a wrestler and Ken used to wrestler, so Ken knows exactly the types of workouts our boy needs. We really appreciate him with his positive attitude, always smiling and how he easily develops rapport. In addition to Ken, I've also gotten to know another trainer, Matthew, quite well. He is very befriending and very easy to talk with. He has a unique background, and we have a lot of similar experiences to talk about. We've tried other locations, but, because of these two guys, this location is, hands down, our favorite. I also have to give a shout out to the friendly team who works the front desk.

Wow, this location has gone downhill in recent months which is unfortunate because it's the newest 24 Hour location in the area and you would think it would not have deteriorated to the current state it's in.

Multiple treadmills have out of service signs that have been posted. Sauna has been out of service for at least the last 1.5 months with no update on when it will be working again. Half of the machines upstairs do not have pins so it renders the machines useless.

Bathrooms are always unkept, flies everywhere, trash piling up. And barely lukewarm water for the showers so don't even bother showering here as the showers are unsanitary as well.

I started going to 24 Automall again as things are much nicer there and well kept. I often see technicians working on machines there so I am curious why the same efforts are not being made at this location.

I hope management can work on improving things. I would hate for numbers to decline here due to poor upkeep.

Solid gym. Front desk was great. Lots of treadmills and a swimming pool on the bottom floor. Bball gym, benches, and squat racks on the top floor. Shoutout to Nate who offered to take my buddy and I for a gym tour before signing up.
