I would stay away from 24 hour fitness. They are dishonest and knowingly steal customers money. They know they withdrew money from my account for two months while I was not a member. I have in writing that this was their trainers mistake. Yet they will not return both months of money to me. They hope that I will just go away.Yessi The manager is unable to get corporate to give me my money back. The managers and the front desk also say that corporate does not return calls, is not able to be in communication, and does not care. I have tried for months to get my money back, but they just give me the runaround. After three months of giving them chances, I am done.There are no humans in this chain of responsibility with integrity. This system has fallen to the lack of leadership and lack of vision that happens when a business is overextended and on its way out. I expect to see this chain collapse very shortly. Do not join.

They have done a "remodel" of this gym. Instead of a wonderful harbor view they have chosen to block all of the outside windows with their equipment, essentially, leaving no view. This was one of the best features of this gym. Now the barbell equipment is blocking the view downstairs and only the first row of stair and or treadmill equipment has any view upstairs.
In addition to that they have taken away the TRX suspension system. I get that not many people probably use it, but some do and it is definitely missed.
Whoever thought of this redesign in headquarters never took any course on aesthetics as there are no longer any great views.
So...you have a location right on the water and cut off the water view. And Instead of keeping the equipment you had before, you add a few more pieces but take away some others that were used....

Nice gym, but I had a disappointing experience with one of the staff members. When I arrived, I only had my ID with me. I showed it to her, but she said she couldn’t read it due to poor eyesight and asked me to read my ID information out loud. I did, but it made me feel uncomfortable because there were many people around.

Her tone was also quite rude and dismissive throughout the interaction. She told me that next time I should enroll my fingerprint, but I explained that I prefer using my ID for security reasons. Despite that, she continued to speak to me as if I wasn’t a paid member, which I found disrespectful and unprofessional.

Overall, it was an unpleasant experience, and I hope this can be addressed to ensure better customer service in the future.

24hr Channel Islands is the PERFECT location for a gym (in the harbor). I have been a member since the location opened back in 2006.
This gyms hours of operation still do not reflect the hours that are on the gym door. When asking staff, they do not have a clue about anything !
Sad part is that, they STILL have the same weight lifting/cardio equipment from back in 2006 which quite often falls apart (they had added a squat rack).
The other local 24 gyms, The Collection, Ventura have updated nice equipment.
For what you pay in membership, it is not worth what they gym offers the individual !!!!

I just started going to this gym and coming from a longtime YMCA membership. I agree with other reviews that there is an ample of machines and weights available which is awesome.

My biggest concern is cleanliness. The gym needs a good floor to ceiling steam sanitation cleaning, inclusive of all machines. At YMCA in WLV staff was cleaning each machine, every hour and checking operability. I did not see a single person cleaning machines. The janitor in the women’s locker room had the equipment laid against a wall, but was no where to be seen. The facility has a general appearance of aged grime, on stairwell, walls, handheld weights/machines. There are also no wet wipes in the gym but rather spray. Again the Y had wet wipe dispenser/trash combos every 30 feet along with hand sanitizing stations at the stairs and drinking fountains. 24 hour does have paper towels and spray, but members don’t want to be bothered with spray and wipe. Please invest in wet wipe dispensers/trash and wet wipes.

I am hoping the renovation will take care of the sanitation concern. To keep up the work with the amount of people circling through the gym, hopefully the janitor will have a steam cleaner going forward for a weekly deep clean to ensure grime buildup doesn’t occur.

One suggestion: It would be helpful if more weight benches were provided. For the size of the gym and count of weights I think having at least 8 adjustable weight benches would be beneficial. Another observation, it wasn’t busy when I was there, but the weight benches were occupied by texters, some who didn’t even have weights with them. With only 4 benches available, that makes no sense. A courtesy sign reminding folks to move off the beach and not text may help reduce the occurrence…?

The months of settled grime would have me rate this gym as a 1; however machine count (minus adj. weight benches) is well above average, rounding out the rating to a 3.

Looking forward to updating this review in Sept after the renovation.

Comparing this location with the collection location, this one blows it out of the water. There are plenty of machines and weights for everyone. Machines that are out of order are displayed properly. Staff is actively cleaning equipment and bathrooms. The only thing off is the amount of space between machines upstairs.

2/3/25 fix the damn water fountain/dispenser upstairs. The water faucet for bottles of water has been broken for over a year, and you have to use the mouthpiece and turn your bottle sideways

7/12/25 They finally fixed the water dispenser and added a waterbottle refill station to it. I would upgrade to a 4 stars but its just stright up pipe water taste exactly like middle school water fountains. Theyre upgrading the gym on the 15th until the 8th of september so its probably gonna be better soon.

I was on a training mission in Oxnard California at the Naval base and needed a place to continue my training. Using google I was directed to the 24-hour fitness club. 5am to 10pm I believe. Upon entering the club at 0500 am on Monday the 4th of Aug 2025 I was greeted by a young lady named Leilah and she directed me in the options for a temporary pass. She was kind, professional and personable. Each day you could tell she was well liked and respected by fellow club members. On the 4th day I was greeted by another professional, Ms. Desi, and she made me feel at home at this club as well. The equipment is varied and some is old school, but more than enough to accomplish the mission (training, cardio, weighting or cutting). This Club has what you need. A few days later I was contacted by the Clubs manager Mr. Chris, and he asked how I liked the club and its personnel. This says a lot of great things about leadership at 24hour fitness. He took the time to follow-up and get information to help make the club better or improve. Gather information about his team and act accordingly.
