I showed up to the Pleasanton 24 Hour Fitness for the 6:00 AM opening, and it’s now 6:56 AM with still no employee in sight to open the doors. This isn’t the first time the gym has been unreliable, but today really sealed it. A gym that advertises early hours needs to actually honor them. 24 Hour Fitness has gone downhill, and it’s incredibly frustrating to waste time waiting outside when the staff simply doesn’t show up. Very disappointing.

Women's locker room: no soap in shower wall dispensers. No toilet paper in over half the stallls. Floors under 1/4" water throughout with no one coming through to mop. No hair dryers. The swimsuit spinner is not working and according to the other ladies it's been not working for a long time. Some light fixtures are out. It is 2:45 forever because the battery is dead on the wall clock.

Showers are broken all the time, toilets are broken all the time, the restrooms are out of service all the time, the machines are broken or malfunctioning all the time, the gym closes early, the prices keeps going up every year yet all the issues keep rising as well.

Easily the worst maintained gym I have been too. Only positive thing about it is location. If a Citysport or Calfitness were near me I would pay more to go to those as they are at minimum clean. This facility machines broke everyday, for weeks sometimes, sauna is disgustingly dirty every time you go no matter what time which tells me nobody cleans it. Very disappointed.

Edit 2: It rained today and the gym closed due to flooding, wasting every patron's time that came. If only the band-aid solution of using buckets to catch water during the spring rain a few months ago could have clued in management that this, along with a myriad of other issues, needed to be fixed. This place is in desperate need of an overhaul and better management.

Edit:
After almost two years at this gym, it's fair to say that cleanliness is a huge issue, along with maintenance of equipment and machines. My needs for the gym remain the same per the original review. However, cable machines tend to take turns being repaired for who knows how long, and the pins used to adjust weights can be misplaced as they're not tied in, or visually unsafe to use. Sometimes, a carabiner can be misplaced so new attachments can't be used. Adjusting the height seems to be hacky with no regard to safety or compliance.

As for cleanliness, the men's bathrooms have never had a neutral smell, soap dispensers have all been empty on at least one occasion, or a clogged sink was filled murky brown water. Half the air dryers work and the faucet sensors can stop working seconds at a time. It's a frustrating experience.

There's a TV that's been malfunctioning for a couple months now.

There are ants crawling at the end of the dumbbell rack near the emergency exit. They crawled into my gym bag before I noticed.

An employee has taken weights off my bench press rack without asking. What is common courtesy?

I could go on and on with issues I find at this gym.

My contract is almost up and I'm going to research and switch to a better gym, or begin checking out the Livermore location. I wish there were better franchise options in Pleasanton. I'd heavily recommend taking a tour and checking out everything with scrutiny.

This gym is pretty decent. Equipment is old but they have 8 squat racks (6 platformed) and three benches for pressing.

Dumbbell area is okay, usually a mess and disorganized weights and I've noticed that compared to other gyms (24h Fitness and others) a non-insignificant amount of patrons don't rerack their weights. Literally staring at two benches right now with weights on them and no users.

I’ve been a member for several years (since the mid-nineties). I love going to the Pleasanton location. The customer service is great, and I’m able to do everything I’d like to do.

suggestions: it would be great if perhaps they can update and maybe upgrade some of their equipment (for instance, the cardio machines seem to break down quite often; their equipment probably needs updating and better maintenance too). One more thing—I think ther restrooms might need better care too.

Outside that, I love the community, the service is great, and I’m a happy member.

Joined this month. Almost half the machines are broken in some way, some have warnings while others don’t. The bathrooms are filthy and have no toilet paper. Went in to workout because I was thinking of upgrading to Super sport but decided I should try it out before upgrading so I bought a 3 day super sport pass for $30. Good thing I didnt upgrade because this place was filthy and a lot of machines are broken. The locker room was very dusty. The bathroom stalls were disgusting with a toilet water pond around almost each toilet mixed with toilet paper, too. The sinks were very dirty with dirt and soap scum. Then I would say almost 25% of the treadmills had out of order signs or the console was completely missing. Then some strength training machines were also out of order. I used to frequent the Pleasanton 24 Hour Fitness 2.5 years ago and my rating would have been a 5. I went out of the area for work and rejoined the club in February. I have noticed a serious degradation in the upkeep of the facility. Most clocks have the wrong time, the swimsuit spinning machine in the men’s locker room has been broken since February. The hot tub was out of order for 2+ months and when it was repaired, it now shoots bubbles instead of jets. On a good note, the front desk staff are attentive and considerate but whoever is responsible for general upkeep is missing in action.

“Someone stole my personal items, and when I asked to see the camera footage—which could easily identify the thief—they told me, ‘Oh, we need to talk to your insurance company.’ Like, seriously? Just show me the footage, or at least have the employees check it and find the thief. If they’re so worried about privacy, what about the fact that people keep losing their stuff to thieves? I don’t see any real safety or privacy here. The thieves get away with everything, and the employees don’t care because it’s not their personal belongings being stolen.
I know plenty of other people who’ve had the same experience—phones, shoes, basketballs stolen—and all they were told was, ‘We’ll get back to you,’ and they never hear anything again. At this point, I honestly doubt the cameras even work properly.”

I’d encourage anyone with a legacy membership to avoid this gym. It’s not friendly to those who travel and who have legacy memberships. It is not openly advertised in the gym and on Google that it is a super sport. You have to find out from their website what kind of gym it is. Since their mobile is website is not user friendly, it is not conducive for travelers.

I was denied entry when I arrived because it was a super sport. I shared that no where on the gym or on Google that it is a super sport. Instead, they tried to upcharge me with a day pass that was almost a third of my yearly membership or upsell me with a membership that’s more than 3x what I pay. This is disrespectful to those truly loyal members.

Considering the frequency of this occurrence mentioned by the staff as well as how rehearsed they were, I have to assume that the gym as well as corporate knows this is a reoccurring issue. When I inquired the staff about this, they mentioned this happened frequently for at least the last year. Considering a year is plenty of time to change the signs to do right by the members, I have to assume they chose not to openly advertise on Google, Yelp or in person as a way to extract more money from loyal members. This type of predatory practice should change. Either change the signs in person and online to better reflect what kind of gym you have or allow loyal members in to your facility without any uncharged. As long as you have an internal policy governing who comes in and out, you’re hurting future business you can have.

John Colorado is my personal trainer. I have had 3 sessions so far and am amazed at how much he cares about the correct posture and detail on each exercise. A Month Later - Still Waiting for My $260 Refund After Bogus Account Termination!

My membership at the Pleasanton facility was wrongly terminated, along with many others, all thanks to a departing employee. For days, I couldn't even check in! The manager's "solution" was to close my account, refund me, and then immediately recharge me for a new one. I agreed, and they hit my card for roughly $260.

A month later, and after six in-person requests, I still haven't seen a dime of that refund. The customer experience here has been absolutely terrible—a complete lack of care, and frankly, it feels unethical. All I hear is that a "district manager" has been notified, but they won't give me any contact information for this mysterious person. Add to that the "forever broken" equipment, and you've got a seriously unhappy customer. This needs to be resolved now!

I can't remember the last time I left a negative review, because I don't like to criticize, but I felt a need to provide feedback on this 24 Hour Fitness location. I just joined 24 Hour Fitness and paid for the year membership, since it had a significant discount for an annual commitment. If you are thinking about doing the same, then I suggest you don't just look at reviews online - go and visit the location first. This was my first week at 24 Hour Fitness in Pleasanton. It is a huge facility with a lot of equipment, so I gave it a couple of stars simply for its impressive amount of equipment. However, the equipment is not maintained and everything is dirty. I when at 6:00 a.m. (one hour after they open) and the trash can was already full (see picture), so I'm not sure if they did any cleaning from the day before. I do elliptical machine workouts and I had to try three machines before I found one that worked. Many machines were missing parts, some where completely broken, and all where very dirty. In fact, it looked like the machines had never been thoroughly cleaned, because they had dirt, stains, and a lot of accumulated grime all over them (see pictures). After trying three machines I finally found one that work, but it wobbled the whole time. Fortunately I will be moving to San Ramon next week, so hopefully that location is better maintained than the one in Pleasanton.

I love this gym I live in Hayward but I honestly would rather drive to Pleasanton then to workout at my local 24's. Its much cleaner and the front desk customer service is absolutely amazing. Anthony signed me up and his communication skills are smooth he made me feel really comfortable and I love how he makes the entrance a home feel vibe with his 🪴 plants. Only thing I didn't like was the shower in the women's area doesn't turn off. Save water!

I really like this gym, there is plenty of equipment to use with out waiting around, there is plenty of space for social distance, but I gave it 3-stars because of cleanliness. The womens bathroom and locker room is in need of cleaning and repair. 3 bathroom stalls are in need of service, the sinks look very unclean. The floors are always dirty. I recently joined so I hadn’t used everything, but today I decided to go in the bike room and it smells very moldy and unpleasant. Also, paper towels seem to always be out around the gym. Staff is very friendly and nice. This rating is purely on cleanliness and maintenance of facility.

I'm a new member and I've never been to such a dirty and disgusting gym. The men's bathrooms are really a breeding ground for infection. I'm surprised that the health department allows places like this to operate without being inspected. At the front desk, there are people just sitting around instead of being productive. They should hire someone else to help with cleaning. The public park restrooms are cleaner compared to this place. I think it’s just a matter of understanding basic cleanliness. The manager should take a cleaning course to manage this place better.
There is a lack of paper towels, some machines are not functioning properly, and don't even get me started on the amount of dust in the weight area. I recommend that if you intend to sign up, don't do it and look for another option.

Please clean your restrooms . It’s embarrassing that you are charging $44 and can’t afford to put toilet paper in your bathrooms or a housekeeper. There is urine in the floor for the love of god. Unclog your sinks, add paper towels and take some pride in your facility

This gym is terrible. It is soooo overcrowded. You have to wait for every machine. Even during off hours. The equipment breaks frequently and it takes forever to be fixed. The locker rooms, sauna and steam rooms are not clean. The staff is lazy and apathetic.
