I will say the facilitys are relatively clean, the men’s restroom could be nicer kept especially at night but its not as bad as Mountain View’s.

One thing i will say is they need to turn up the pool temperature if its heated, its FREEZING (not literally) and is so hard to get into the pool without feeling like your about to freeze your bits off. That and the steam room has been out of service for a while.

Staff ive met so far have been kind and respectful, its a nice 24 hour in my opinion but they need to turn up thag pool heater and maybe turn off the fans at night or put to low

Just had the exact same experience as Jay Valencia (read that review if you’ve had issues with the 3 day pass). rude boys at the front know the fine print on the 3 day pass is misleading but got smug about it anyways. went to crunch fitness instead and had a great workout at a high quality gym with fantastic equipment. definitely go to crunch instead if you’re reading this.

also there are many generic responses from the club owner on these reviews sharing the contact page to discuss further, but this contact us page goes somewhere to fill out a form so you can then talk to a manager at the local club. i already spoke to a manager and he was rude and unprofessional.

please just teach your staff to be nice and welcoming to people like any decent gym would. the 3 day pass fine print is misleading and if people wasted their time to drive in there, the last thing they need is rude customer service.

Extremely disappointing experience — misleading and unprofessional

I recently signed up for a 3-day free pass on the 24 Hour Fitness website. Nowhere on the site did it mention that you must have a local address to use the pass. When I arrived at this location to check out the gym—because I’m genuinely looking to join since I’m spending more time in the area (recently moved to Redwood City) the front desk staff immediately asked for my ID. The moment they saw my address wasn’t local, their attitude changed.

Instead of welcoming a potential new member, they told me I couldn’t use the pass because my address wasn’t local and that I’d have to pay $30 just to work out for the day. Again, this requirement is not listed anywhere on their website. No attempt to explain, no sales offer, no tour—nothing. Just attitude and a clear lack of customer service.

It makes sense why this location already has poor reviews. The gym didn’t look clean, the atmosphere wasn’t inviting, and the staff up front didn’t seem interested in helping or even giving me a chance to see if this could be my new gym.

To make it worse, the owner’s responses on Google look like automated copy-and-paste replies—not genuine accountability.

Overall, this felt like false advertising and a completely avoidable negative experience. I was ready to join, but after today, I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.

Subject: Concern About Unprofessional Behavior at Redwood City Location

Dear 24 Hour Fitness Team,

My husband and I have been loyal members of 24 Hour Fitness for 20 years. About 15 months ago, I requested to purchase one buddy pass, and they sold me two for 19.99 for each buddy pass every month so I’m paying 40 dollars instead of paying 9.99 an month for one.

Today, I visited the San Carlos location, where Connie kindly helped me with great professionalism and even offered a complimentary Body Pass. She then referred me to the Redwood City location for further assistance.

Unfortunately, the manager there, Elanzo, treated me in a very disrespectful and humiliating manner. He refused to assist me and canceled my Buddy Pass instead.

Examples of the cleaning practices at Redwood City 24-Hours location. (PHOTOS WILL NOT LOAD - TECH ERROR) 1. Dirt/hair pile from student's sweeping part of the floor before the 7:30am yoga class. 2. Smeared mirror in the group classes gym looks like the room is set for Halloween. Also irritating smoke alarm battery chirp went on for 6 weeks -- not a calming sound playing behind soothing yoga sound track.

This gym has minimal self service hand sanitizer, paper towels, equipment cleaning stations. I saw one station hidden. I'm sure the pitch is they don't patrons to be able to clean equipment for "environmental" reasons/ paper towels, but obviously cost.the gym "looks clean", but surely is filthy if patrons are not regularly cleaning.

There is one rowing machine, broken that is.

There are a handful of reclining bikes. However these are the "dial" setting bikes which, if you pause for a brief second, will clear your progress, settings, just basically turn off. Just garbage. There were many upright bikes, but with no solution to clean the bikes between uses... gross.

The location is conveniently off 101 having two blocks of homeless encampment, non op vehicles, etc.
I love that this gym is open 24 hours, I wish other ones were open longer.

Go elsewhere, if you can. The owners put zero effort into maintaining this place, but for some reason membership fees keep going up. I’ve been coming here on and off for 10 years. Almost nothing has changed or been upgraded.

About 1/3 of cardio equipment is broken. Paper towels come away black when wiping down seats and handrails.

Weight equipment is rusted, dirty, and in poor repair. Thick layers of dust and crud.

Mats are worn out and flaking. Don’t seem like they get much mopping. Drips coming from the ceiling.

Bathrooms are gross. Crap-covered toilet paper on the floor.

The level of care and attention to detail the manager Hamdi has for this gym is wonderful. He always takes the time to address my needs and concerns. Several times I feel appreciated and heard. I don’t like to be the gym member that likes to cause problems or pester the staff at the front , and when it seems like im ready to complain about broken equipment or messes around the gym, to my surprise Hamdi and his staff have already done their due diligence and taken care of the issue. I find myself being more motivated to come to the gym more and more. Keep up the hard work

This review is based on their physical training program, which I started about 4 months ago. I'd like to call out Vlad in particular as being a fantastic trainer - not only does he adhere to where you start and your personal physical challenges (my shoulder is cooked), but also has been influential in improving things like diet, mindset, safety, form, and goalsetting.

I started out pretty weak after years of sedentary work/life balance, and the improvements at this point are SIGNIFICANT, and I'm down a decent amount of weight!

If you are looking to get stronger and feel better day to day, sign up with Vlad at one of their free training days - he makes it easy and enjoyable no matter where you're starting from.

It doesn't hurt that you also get to use the training room whenever you want and avoid the rush hour crowd upstairs. 5/5

Have been going here for nearing 2 years. They really let this place go. Unmaintained equipment (most benches missing screws etc, bathrooms which haven had paper towels or a working hand dryer for years.

Recently found cockroaches on one of the benches. Haven’t seen cockroaches since I lived in Texas, and even they never had cockroaches at the gyms.

Get your stuff together 24.

EDIT: Replying to my comment with a standard bot response isn’t going to do anything. I am literally here as we speak and 2 out of 3 of your dual-cable-cross machines are broken (and have been to various states for months now).

From a serious lifter, you guys are actually a joke.

Your dryer in the 2nd story bathroom (where the workout equipment is) still doesn’t work months later, and the majority of your equipment is in various states of disrepair.

I honest wish I could use obscenities, your neglect is simply too absurd.

I just moved to RWC for work and wanted to check out the local gyms. I had signed up for a free pass but never got to use it. I got back to town after a long weekend and wanted to workout before work. So I signed up up for a three day pass and drove to the this location. I walk in and present the pass I was emailed. The girl at the desk was completely clueless. I’m not sure if she worked there but was sitting at the counter flirting with that guy. Typical gym bro. Good looking and very fit, but short so he’s got something to prove. About as deep as a baking sheet. He ignored me until he figured out the girl didn’t know what day it was and then jumped in. Not to welcome me or answer any questions but to tell me the pass would only be honored if three criteria were met. 1) this has to be the first time I’ve ever stepped into a 24 Fitness. 2) I must be a local resident with a valid RWC address and 3) I must present a valid CA ID or DL displaying that same local address. Otherwise he could sell me a three day pass for $30 or I can commit to an annual membership. His demeanor was super judgy and aggressive. I paused for a moment to process the bizarre direction this interaction has taken. I already had the pass and was prepared to show my ID. I was being courteous approaching the counter to follow instructions. I should have just walked right by them, they wouldn’t have noticed. That’s when I realized the rude little towel boy doesn’t even pay to workout there, he has to work off his dues. So I politely thanked them for their time and searched for other gyms on my walk back to the car. I will say the gym itself looked nice from the front door. It’s a big facility. The parking lot is absolutely disgusting. There’s TON’s of trash everywhere and a lot of sketchy characters camping there too.

I was scanning my QR code to sign in as he was in the front desk, he said if I wanted a free sesh, from there he pointed out my issues, (I already knew about, just didn’t know how to go about it) tight hips , tight lower back and tight hip flexors

Ben helped me create a regimen where I work on my overall strength to visually see results while also working on my issues to keep me motivated. And also develop rest periods where I’m working out certain muscle groups while other groups rest and recover. So I’m constantly working out while recovering

Besides the knowledge he has, which is the bare minimum a PT should have, it really comes down to personality. World class customer experience. Very personable, vulnerable and a great leader

My social battery is kind of fried due to me working in fast food for 4+ years, so him including me in conversations with his co workers / regular gym clients made going to the gym even more exciting

Him creating an environment that includes vulnerability, made me be vulnerable, so I can share my issues so we can fix them

Great leader due to him leading by example, whatever I would do, he would do too. Critic himself and me, when we would work out to do everything correct

Thank you to all the other personal trainers and Carlos the Big Dawg for making it fun to go to my sessions but also very educational

I truly appreciated the staffs and management here at Redwood City 24 Hour Fitness. The staffs here have always been very friendly and helpful. Mele was very sweet and patient yesterday helping me to log in when I had a hard time with my cell phone. And when I apologized for giving her extra trouble, she kept comforting me not to worry about it until I was all set. I'm not sure why this gym is so highly rated. I went in expecting it to be super clean and nice. It was not. I did some mat exercises in the large workout room on the first floor. Mirrors were smeared and gross, tons of dust everywhere. The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. I didn't go upstairs so I can't comment. This review is specifically for the front desk customer service as I have toured the gym in past but not used the gym.

I went in today and specifically told the sales associate at the front that " I want to use the free day trial". Instead of telling me right from the start that no they don't offer this anymore (their website coincidentally also says they offer it see photo/screenshot) He proceeded to collect all my information, including my email, my phone number and my goals, wasting basically 5-10 minutes of my time before telling me they no longer offer this deal, and I would either have to pay for one day pass or yearly pass to use the gym at all. I think this type of experience just goes to show how profit-focused the staff and the gym are, instead of being customer focused. The whole experience honestly left me quite upset... I specifically told them I was here for a free day trial right at the beginning. They proceed to collect all this private information without informing me they no longer have this free day trial, wasting 5-10 minutes of my time and theirs. Will not be coming back.

BROKEN MACHINES EVERYWHERE. I am writing this as I tried 7 different cardio machines that were open before number 8 was functional. Surprised this place can even stay operational when half the cardio machines are broken and a good few strength training machines are nonfunctional as well. Huge lack of 5 lb and 10 lb weights. People are nice though. I seriously do not suggest this gym until these issues are fixed. Only reason it is better than planet fitness is that the local planet fitness is extremely crowded.
