I have been with this gym's locatuon for several years amd today was the back breaking straw. This gym is always dirty and the management can never keep janitors on staff long enough to keep the gym clean. The men's locker room has fecal matter all over the restroom area. The floors and counters look like they haven't been cleaned in days. I've been in cleaner restrooms in Penn Station in NYC.

There are always a handful of gym equipment that is broken. Always! The floors and stairs are not cleaned on a regular basis. The machine are not wiped down on a regular basis and the layers of dust bunnies on top of the machines is the giveaway. And there is always the issue of mold on the HVAC pipes throughout the ceiling.

The only staff you see is generally the person behind the counter at their in-house health store. There is rarely anyone behind the front desk when you come in or even walking the gym floor. I have seen so much turnover of staff since I joined and the only two people that are the same are the two main personal trainers, which, by the way, are outstanding and should be hired when you need good trusted personal trainers.

I have never taken an exercise class or used the swimming pool area.

This is supposed to be a main location for the local chain and while the location is great and the monthly fee is cheap, it's the quality and cleanliness the gym seriously lacks. The cheap gym chain NYSC in NYC keeps thier gyms in far better condition than this gym does. I will be glad when my locked-in contract expires so I can stop my membership. Lastly, even if your contract expires, unless you verbally tell management to cancel your membership, you will automatically be enrolled into a monthly contract. Just a heads up.

Great equipment and space and people. One downside was the lack of cleaning. That has improved in the last 4 months or so. Keep it up. If we can get the sauna smelling better or just not smelling it would be a 5! I’m adding to this because I want to mention two people that have clearly made the difference. One is Nahim, who takes cleaning seriously. It’s not just a rag and some product. The guy puts muscle into it and looks at the hard to reach places. And talk about walking the talk, I’ve even seen the manager, Malik, come through with a broom thru the preciously disappointing locker room. What a change!’ Thanks guys!!

After training with Rahim for 12-weeks I can say that it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I’ve never been consistent in the gym and went into training not knowing a whole lot. Rahim was very patient and encouraging and made me feel more sure of myself. I’m down 12 lbs and I feel like a whole different person! Rahim is truly the best trainer ever! He’s very gracious and understanding (even with me complaining lol) . He believed in me more than I believed in myself and encouraged me when I felt defeated. Our sessions were tough, but super fun and they quickly became the highlight of my week. I started getting excited to go to the gym and learn something new. Rahim is very knowledgeable, passionate, and relatable and it shows in his coaching style. He created workouts for me weeks in advance so I would know ahead-of-time what we were working on. He’s super organized and thorough and I felt like I was in good hands the whole way through. I learned to trust my body and week after week I was lifting heavier and hitting new PR’s. If this was basketball Rahim would be the MVP! He has made a huge impact in my life and I’m forever grateful! Highly recommend 1000/10!! Thank you Rahim!

I only continue to use this location because its so close to me. Basic maintenance and cleanliness seems to be the last concern for this place. The lockers, pool area, sauna and steam room all need to be renovated. At the very least these areas should be cleaned REGULARLY. If things don't get better I'll definitely be moving on from 24

I would stay away from this location. There is a manager by the name of Malik who wouldn’t even provide me with the number to Member Services to inquire about cancelling a membership. That is in bad practice and hope this review signals to upper management to look into a call placed today around 11a PST time where Malik would not provide a number. I asked 3 times and he finally relented but it should have been provided the first time.

It is bad business practice to hold people hostage into a membership when it hasn’t even been 24-48 hours and when you find out the terms are different than what was explained. Already reported him to Member Services.

There was a man in the pool when I swam. He was literally bathing. He had a container of soap on the side of the pool and would wash his head, then do a bunch of dives into the water. The facility, showers seemed filthy. I was alone in the evening in that situation. Honestly, just did not feel safe.

I was in town for work and wanted to use the gym for the day. I signed up online, and took my "day pass" to the downtown location. I did not have much time to spare. I knew that a tour was part of the deal, and I was honest about where I lived from the start. The girl at the front desk should have told me FROM THE FIRST SECOND that they do not honor that pass for non-residents instead of wasting my time with a pointless tour around the entire gym. She didn't even GIVE me a tour, just walked around with me in tow.
Then when I asked what they charge for a day pass, she says "we could do $30." Is that a scam for out-of-towners? There is nothing on the website about that fee. I will NOT be going to OR using another 24-hour Fitness ever again, even though I am a flight attendant and use them all over the country. NEVER have I ever paid $30 for a day pass to a gym. Usually it is about $15.

I’m really disappointed with my experience at the 24 Hour Fitness on 7th Street. Today I stepped into the bathroom for less than two minutes and left my keys and sunglasses on the counter — when I came back, my sunglasses were gone. This isn’t the first time, either; on another visit I took off my rings and someone took them as well.

I’ve also heard from other members that their belongings were stolen right out of locked lockers. People are apparently using bolt cutters, and management seems very lax about the situation. When I called in about my stolen ring, I was just told to come in and deal with it myself because they were short-staffed.

It’s a shame that you can’t even go to the gym to de-stress without worrying about your belongings being stolen. I had chosen this location thinking it would be a better option than other nearby gyms, but unfortunately it’s proving otherwise. I’m honestly considering canceling my membership and moving to a gym where I can feel safe and relaxed.

24 Hour Fitness has been purchased by a private equity firm. This would ruin any business, and it appears to be ruining 24 hour fitness.

I moved to Sacramento this year and when I went into 24 Hour Fitness, I told them that I had had a lot of bad experience with cancelling gyms before and gyms preventing me from cancelling or putting a lot of costs on me when cancelling. So, I asked very specifically what their cancellation policy. I was told repeatedly that as long as I gave 30-days notice, I would have no trouble cancelling. That they wouldn’t do that to their customers. This is literally what we talked about most with the membership because I wanted to be sure that I wouldn’t have another bad experience.

Unfortunately, I have had another bad experience. Honestly, it is the worst experience I have had cancelling a gym membership because they are making me pay the remainder of the year membership (8 months) with no reasonable prorating of the expense based on the fact that I can't access the gym anymore.

I unexpectedly have the move. So, I went in to do a cancellation. Not only will they not refund any of the year of membership that I paid for, they were very rude.
I told him I was very unhappy considering that the cancellation process had been a primary conversation when I became a member at the gym.
Their response was to victim blame saying if you knew you were going to move, then why did you pay for a year?
As if I knew that I would have to move unexpectedly.

I asked that they at least make sure that this wouldn’t happen to anyone else. That they needed to make sure the staff was trained to give accurate information to their customers as I had gotten inaccurate information. I was told repeatedly that I only needed to give 30 days notice.
Would he at least say that they would do staff retraining?
This man was so condescending in refusing at all to do any staff training to prevent this from happening again. He insisted that I misunderstood and that it was my fault entirely.

I understand that corporations and hedge funds are here to extract money from us “peasants.” I realize I fell into the “buyer beware” trap. However, the victim blaming, and the lack of concern of what lies employees were telling in order to make a sale is so blatantly insulting and dishonest.

Stay away from this health hazard. There is a reason they don't allow phones in the locker room cause people would be shocked at just how bad they are maintained. Half of the showers were broken, including the ADA friendly one.
I found a used razor in one of the showers, when I bought this to the attention of the manager, they said they would wait for the next cleaning crew's schedule to take the razor out. They are unbothered about the potential risk of someone hurting themselves on this razor.
The management doesn't take pride in their work and it shows. They are rude when talking to customers and actively encourage their reps to lie to potential new customers. If you value your health, I would stay away from this gym.
