You know how it goes. It's a delight to be work iron again. 24 hour (technically 60 minute fitness) is located in Point Loma, in a commercial shopping center next to Von's and near Marshall's. The hours open are not available only reserved 60 minute sessions.

Pros
Parking--no problem
Wait time on machines-nil
You're in and you're out
No overgrunting noises for attention
No unnecessary sashaying for looky loos

Cons
Reservation for workout- bad idea for a business-Planet Fitness open without restrictions or limitations
One workout reservation allowed per day-really now?
No increase in disinfectant materials
Disinfectant bottles are empty
Is there really any disinfectant in the bottle?

You must bring your own accessories (mat, bar sponge, etc.) and IMO, sanitizer

I'd like to think this reservation be system may only last a month. If longer, I would recommend a different gym.

For a non super sport 24 hour fitness, this is a pretty nice one, relative to other sport 24 hour fitness centers. It has 2 levels and a nice open lay out with brand new squat racks and deadlift platforms and bumper plates. I think there's 5 total, which is real nice. As for 24 hour fitness as a whole, continuing to charge members during their closure was what led me to cancel my membership. I only joined 24 because they have a lot of locations out of convenience. But I believe management really does not care about their members or their employees and it shows. Paper towels were were out and spray bottles were hard to find filled. This gym is not open 24 hours and there were a few instances when the person who was supposed to open in the morning never showed up. Decided to go down the street to a much nicer EOS fitness gym that was much cheaper and did not charge members during their closure.

Trainers are joke... Had one take time away from a client to instruct me to perform my exercise incorrectly, your only allowed to be so strong in there before staff has an issue with it but I guess at the end of the day if you know you signed up at a circus you can't complain about clowns.

Smells so bad and has nasty feel. Gym feels like its a squid farm. 50% of the music is so bad. Lots of squat racks earn an extra star.

Bathrooms are typically not maintained well- mold in showers, broken shower heads and/ or faucets... Frequently a number of the machines are not maintained well either considering the location and number of members.

It's too bad 24HR fitness has made all the gyms from the old days no longer 24HRS. Now you have to buy an upgraded membership to be able to work out anytime of night at an Ultra or Super Sport gym. Kind of sold us memberships that weren't really true.

Definitely NOT open "24 hours!" Came here at 1:30 am and despite lights on and TVs on inside, doors were locked tight and no one was at reception. To make matters worse, no updates hours, no hours of any kind, were posted anywhere. Horrible false advertising 😡

Worst customer service experience I've ever had. Signed up for personal training at way too high of a rate, was not allowed out of my contract when I was ready to stop personal training. There is no reason to trust these guys. If youre looking for a place to work out on your own, great. Don't get sold on their training. It's overpriced and these guys are dishonest, not looking out for their customers

The staff at this specific location is just awful. I’ve been to many 24 fitness locations and the staff at the Point Loma location is the worst by far. I visit this location purely because I live a 6 minute drive away and it’s convenient, but try to avoid it whenever I can and go to the La Jolla location

Terribly ran gym. Kids club is always understaffed with someone ‘out sick’, with excuses and no change. The GM could care less, just seems annoyed that you have an issue. Old, aging weight equipment, overcrowded, understaffed. Pretentious, frustrated responses to customer complaints. Nothing ever changes, just more excuses. Do yourself a favor a join a gym that actually maintains their facility and values their clientele.

I canceled my membership back in March because I was moving out of the way, today I found it was never canceled and one of the the charges since then cost me an overdraft fee. Over the phone I was told I might get a call back from someone who can help me, and I MIGHT get a refund. Great service. And of course it's on me to make way out of my way back to that location, which btw those other reviews complaining about sketchy drug addicts who interact with people in the parking lot is absolutely correct. I'll be back on here for a follow up review tomorrow after i go in to see how willing they are to compensate me for their lack of follow through.

Went in to tell them I was moving and would be discontinuing my membership. Also told them that I had been in 4 months before and the were still taking money out of my account. 6 months later get a call from their collections department. Some gal from India tries to explain to me my bill is pass due. Get a little upset with her but kinda think it is the company just trying to get money out of me. Might join again but I do not think so.

This place is gross. I mean honestly. They're pricing is on par with nice full service sport centers. But they're facilities are limited, and it's out right disgusting. They have an app, an eager sales team and even their own tv yet they can't replace their 10cent shower curtains? Photos available on yelp...

The staff at this gym were very accommodating. My girlfriend and I were visiting from Canada with a membership from a Canadian gym chain that has a partnership with 24 Hour. Some of the staff weren't sure how to set us up under that partnership program but were more than happy to give us guest passes anyway so that we could still enjoy a work out. The facility is huge with tons of cardio and weight equipment available.

Tons of good quality machines. Lots of female pervs though, so always be on the lookout (lol) . The lockrooms are clean , but small compared to other clubs. I believe the smallest lockrooms is located around rancho ante Fe area.

Nicer for an active/sport gym whichever one this is. I go later at night (6-8pm) and yes crowded but not bad, a few machines/benches to wait for here and there but I believe the recently renovated (a few years back) so it's fairly spacious!

On first visit- manager said hated my attitude and treated me very poorly. Go to EOS instead. I joined them right after talking to 24 hr fitness and they were really cool and cheaper and open 24/7!

BEWARE first timers! Do not give in to their tactical obligatory sign ups! Do not hesitate to affirm your personal decisions when purchasing a membership as staff here tend to be hungry sharks, though portraying as to only care about your physical goals and success, they smell new money when anyone new walks in.
During my three visits, there seemed to be one particular arrogant male staff/employee with whom I never had contact, however, judged me on stereotype and physical appearance.
It was particularly disappointing that I felt obligated to sign up and also purchase a personal trainer session program. Of which I repeatedly stated throughout my first and second visit, to two employees, that I could not afford at the moment. My decision was simply ignored and later found myself complying to the employee's decision. I submitted to purchase a 10 session PT service... Only after upon canceling to find out I had been put into a 20 session PT service coming to a total of $759.99 (A number that was NEVER mentioned at all, nonetheless had I ever agreed to the 20 session service but 10)
24 Hour Fitness gym membership of $29.99 per month is no conflict, for which I have given this a 2 Star rating.
Unfortunately, this has given my first ever gym experience a bad name. I hope other gyms are not as euphoric about my money.

One of, if not the best, non super sport locations in so cal. Gets crowded, but doesn't seem to be overwhelming like some locations can be. Equipment isn't "new" but isn't falling apart. All of it works and is reasonably clean considering how many people come thru this place on the daily. Can always find some equipment open to complete your workout, with some flexibility. Plenty of options for mixing your routine up. Plenty of cardio. I always forget they have the upstairs cardio equipment..think most others do as well, its always empty.

Really didn't like this gym... it's like a mini Caesars Palace. You got to take escalators to get in (though it's really just a strip mall), everything is spread over different levels, though feels cramped. And a lot of the stuff is outdated... like a 1972 Wayne Newton nickel slot machine,

Im from LA, came to SD for the weekend. This was the closest 24 I could find, but glad I found it. Granted it was a Saturday morning, so it wasn't crowded. Great facility over all. Especially for being an "active" 24 hour fitness.

False advertising. I wanted to try the place out for a couple days and they insisted on charging my credit card and getting a refund if I didn't like their facility (my DL wasn't in their zip code for the free trial days).
The facility had huge wasted spaces and the equipment was not very well maintained. The biggest disappointment was the locker rooms. Better bring your own lock and don't mind the super moldy showers and dirty floors. D+ at best overall

I've worked out at several 24 Hour's around the county, and this one has the best layout and quantity of equipment that I've seen. The only thing keeping it from being a 5 is the locker rooms. I can't believe one of the reviewers thought the locker room was "large and spacious"....Miramar's is large and spacious...this one reminds me of the JV locker room at Point Loma High. Smells the same too, since the fan is always breaking and it takes forever to get it fixed.

I read the reviews and decided to check it out and decide for myself. I walked in and was greeted by a smiling young man. I forgot my card, so I just entered my phone number and scanned my finger to sign in. That was great. Then as I looked for the men's locker room, another staffer approached me and asked me if I wanted a brief tour. He very kindly familiarized me with the gym. There are two levels with every kind of equipment you want, and lots of it. I used some new equipment that I had never seen before like the amazing Precor 100i. You have to try this one. There are showers and lockers, but no hot tub, no steam room and no sauna. The locker room is large and spacious. The people who work out here are seriously into fitness, and it's easy to get serious here. If you are there to work out (and not just there for a free shower), then you will love this gym.
