I have been going to this gym for years and the last couple of years it has been going downhill. Every time I go there are random cardio machines that don't work properly and when you tell the staff they don't care because they don't seem to ever get fixed. Several months ago I noticed how the padded pieces of some of weight machines were cracked/torn they just stay that way even after you speak to the staff. They say "Ya, we know" but they don't do anything. There was one piece of equipment where the padded seat was completely gone so if you wanted to use it you had to put a flat disk weight on it and it wobbled too much to use it. Invariably there are at least one sink if not two and at least one toilet stall at a time in the women's locker room that is out of commission. Several times there is water all over the floor in the bathroom that seems to be coming from the plumbing. Today 11/29/25 I couldn't even use the bathroom because there was literally foul-smelling sewage covering most the floor in front of the toilets and you wouldn't have been able to get to the bathroon without walking through it so... I went to the front desk to make sure they knew about it and there was a young girl and a young guy. When I mentioned the problem the girl, goes "oh yeah, we know. The women's restroom is closed". And that was it. Really? No, "sorry" we are working on it or anything! The guy had to speak up and at least tell me that a plumber was working on it and that it was fixed and they just needed to mop up. I also have been noticing for a couple years now that the staff there have no concept of "Customer Service". They also routinely treat any guest that is older very dismissively. I will probably try the Santee location now and see if that is as gross as Navajo.

The machine layout is well organized, everything has a space layout. Your not on top of people waiting for them to move. I dont go into the lockers cant except the best. A gym should always be sanitized no matter what. 4 times a week at least.

I've been a member for a long time now and have decided to cancel my membership as the gym is gradually declining. About 10% of the equipments are down and can take weeks for repair. Another 5% or so are in poor condition such as leather cracking, missing hardware, and have mechanical difficulties. The gym has a cleanliness issue as the bathrooms are not cleaned frequently as well as the jacuzzi or pool. Pool water is murky and jacuzzi has stains/saliva or gum from people spitting. Unfortunately, they need better staff utilization compared to other gyms where 3-4 staff members shouldn't be at the front desk at one time and just talking. Staff members used to greet people as well, however that is a thing of the past. I have a good relationship with some of the staff members and hope to not throw anyone under the bus but something has to change as the gym quality has progressively gone downhill....

What's the job description to work here? Text neck? Look at your phone. Prison cell bathrooms. No fans in the weight room. Whats the point of TVs if your staff can't figure out the games they should have on. Its march maddness and they have ESPN on... bring the robots... the staff here is pointless. Might as well hire a janitor in their place. And just leave the remote out.

This gym is so grimy, it’s right by my house so it makes the most sense for me to go here unfortunately. Nobody routinely cleans any of the equipment or frequently trafficked areas in the weights section. Sweat stains on the cardio machines that continuously accumulate are not only disgusting but reduce the lifespan of the equipment.

How is it that chuze, crunch, planet fitness & every other like gym in SD is able to keep their facility properly cleaned & maintained, but the 24Hs are particularly dirty.

I was a personal trainer that also worked the fitness center desk at a gym in my past & we had a DAILY cleaning & maintenance schedule. I was also a member of planet fitness before this and their front desk staff was ALWAYS cleaning equip or cardio machines.

If you’re not going to care about your reviews, at least do it for your members that come here everyday.

New equipment and spacious is the only thing positive. Front desk staff rarely acknowledges guests arrival/ departure. Very dirty around the machines. Wish I could post pics of the dust on the floors at the base of many of the machines.
Watched 2 people walk,sneak in and not check in while I was on treadmill. Again,front desk doesn't pay any attention, usually backs turned or sideways talking to people. Zero hand soap the other day.. go to Aldi next door and purchase maybe?
People wearing shirts around the neck also while working out. Zero pride or standards. Bringing in your pet dog seems also ok. No service badge needed.

Place is dirty and broken. Zero hockey pucks given. Zero pride . Not even open 24 hours, reform needed from the top down. Seriously, take your time on a tour and see how dirty it is, how many things are worn, out of order, etc. If anything do a week trial and make up yoir mind. Don't give your hard earned money to this company.

I've been going to this gym for about one week and each day the jacuzzi is foul-smelling and covered in soap bubbles about one foot high.
I've told the front desk staff each day when I leave that they need to clean their jacuzzi, but they seem indignant that I've made a suggestion that would improve my customer experience and they certainly do not follow up with corrective actions.
Shockingly, their foul-smelling jacuzzi was reported with 1-star rating OVER 4 MONTHS AGO on this very same review page.
24-hour staff - do not send me a link asking for more information….your spa smells awful, do your job and clean it!!

This gym has slowly become a filthy gym. Everything is dirty. Floors, toilets, sauna, machines. Padding on numerous machines are ripped and cracked, machines are broken for weeks at a time. The analog clocks on the wall don’t even tell the right time. I hadn’t noticed how bad it was until I worked out at a neighboring gym and saw how clean it was. It’s a shame, this used to be a great gym.

If I could give 0 stars I would. DO NOT get a membership here unless you want a lung disease from the sauna. It's an absolutely disgusting, musty sauna that is filthy at every hour of the day. The employees know and were ashamed when I brought this up at the desk. I was met with navel-gazing as they said it's a "corporate" problem. It doesn't take a corporation to clean a sauna. I've paid half the price here for three times a better gym at Crunch Fitnesses.

The Navajo 24 hour fitness location gym is a disgrace to 24 hour fitness. Whoever the owner is won’t turn on the AC so you sweat to death anytime you go there. The water fountains have been broken since a few months of opening, so now it’s been years and the fountains are cheap. No nice area to fill a water bottle appropriately. Lots of machines broken. I could go on and on.

Two stars ONLY because I love my personal trainer Yvonne, but the gym itself sucks and I’m looking at other gyms to move my membership to. Broken machines, can’t use the cable machines because someone stole the connectors, which don’t worry there are probably a group of teenagers playing on anything you want to use anyway (which explains why everything is broken). Depending on what time you go the gym might be literally a playground for local teenagers. Half of the stalls in the women’s room have been out of order for MONTHS. And I won’t even talk about how dirty it is, others have already mentioned it. Again, love my trainer and it’s really a shame this gym is so poorly managed because it’s close to home and convenient. I love that I can go to the gym any time of day especially at night between 8pm-9pm to go for a swim. However, the jacuzzi water was murky and green on Sunday 08/17/2025 it smelled like chemicals. In the main pool, it was not murky but the bacteria in the water is making my eczema/atopic dermatitis flare up and showing up in places I never had it before on and it only gets worse every time I go here to swim. I keep getting red dry itchy skin patches all over my body, it spreads the more I go. I heard it's because the water ph is not being evened out with the chlorine and chemicals, too much bacteria in the water. Another thing, the women's locker rooms are always messy, especially the shower stalls. The shower stalls look like they never get cleaned regularly, I was there on Friday night 08/15/2025 evening and noticed clumps of hair on the drain and the same bottle cap was still there on Sunday 08/17/2025 in the same stall same time 8pm-9pm. Please clean your shower stalls and locker rooms daily not once in a blue moon. Please clean the water in the pool and jacuzzi.

Just want to note i have Been coming here for about a year. I was hesitant to join because of the reviews but I had to because my schedule is so busy and this gym is open and hours of operation work well with my schedule. Previous reviews say it was dirty which sucked but I said I need a gym and I'll just man up and lift weights and go home. I did and it has worked, the staff didn't really clean and also the people coming here to work out were also thrashing the place and being dirty. But as of about a month ago and especially today they were actively cleaning mid day in the men's locker room. And I notice the gym floor, and machines have Ben cleaner. There used to be literal dust bunnies every where around weights and machines. Awsome to see. Thank you. Hopefully the general public can rally too and help instead of thrashing and blaming the staff.

Dude this place suuuuccccks. In theory they have everything you need but let me tell you you’re going to need to be fully prepared to overcome all the challenges this place is guaranteed to make you face.

Need at 10 pound plate? This place has exactly three and a half in rotation, so good luck with that. Enjoy the little scavenger hunt that is finding the correct dumbbell since they are never correctly racked.

I’m not sure if they just have run out of “out of order” signs, since at any given time 5+ machines are broken, and reverted to removing the seats to ensure no one uses them. But yes, machines and benches are missing their padding. Any broken machine will likely stay like that for at least 2 weeks before being repaired. Want to use a cable machine? Hope you brought your own pins and handles. The weight floor is ripped up and has almost sinkholes in them.

In general calling the gym dirty is being generous. Clumps of dust, hair and paper towels collect in the corners and on the machines. Also I’m not convinced this place has A/C by how muggy it is. I can only speak for the men’s locker room but very on brand it is gross. Stalls and urinals are either clogged or closed. At any given time 3 of the 5 sinks are broken, and one is scorching hot but it’s a wildcard of which one it’ll be that day. Hope you like your odds. There is rarely soap or hand sanitizer. The sauna sometimes has exposed nails so if you lean on it have fun getting burned by metal, if it doesn’t scratch you.

Call it petty but also idk how each clock in the building has wildly different times. Like is it that hard to correct? Been a member for a years and would not recommend to anyone. I’m actively looking for a new gym so taking any recommendations.

I’ve been coming to this location since before 24 Hour Fitness took it over—back when it was operated by a different gym brand. When 24 Hour reopened it under their name, I was genuinely excited. For a while, this gym had a fresh, modern feel, and I always appreciated the smart layout and strong selection of equipment. It quickly became a go-to spot in the area, and I’ve returned on and off over the years because it had a lot going for it.

That said, I’ve noticed a steady decline in maintenance and cleanliness that I hope management takes seriously. I say this not to complain, but because I care about this location.

- Broken Equipment and Lockers: Several machines have been out of service for a long time, which limits workout options and causes crowding around the most-used equipment. In addition, a noticeable number of lockers—especially the smaller combination-lock ones—are broken or unavailable.

- Cleanliness Issues: This is the biggest concern. The gym floor often appears dusty, and the locker rooms and restrooms frequently need a deeper cleaning. The floors, in particular, look like they haven’t been properly mopped in quite some time. Since I’ve been back, there have been multiple locker room floods caused by overflowing toilets—something I’ve heard has happened more than once in recent months.

I understand this is a high-traffic location, and keeping everything in top shape is challenging. Still, it may be time to consider either a short closure for a deep clean and reset, or hiring additional maintenance staff to keep up with the demand. With how many people use this facility day and night, the current level of upkeep just doesn’t seem sustainable.

I’m sharing this as someone who genuinely wants to continue making this gym part of my regular routine. I hope that not only the local staff but also upper management sees this and chooses to invest in getting the location back to the standard it once held. It really has the potential to be a standout gym again.

Not a good experience in just two weeks become a membership, after I did a fingerprint sign in and phone number verification, still ask for an ID to check in . This place in 6977 Navajo Rd, 92119. After I talks to manager still can’t get in to work out that day ,Not a good first impression, ( I forgot my ID that day)

I've been a member at 24 hour fitness Navajo for a while now, and while there are definitely some great aspects, there are also a few things that need attention.

Pros:
The gym has a solid variety of equipment and machines.
The staff are generally friendly and do their best to help out.
It’s a convenient location with decent hours.

Cons:
Cleanliness: The gym is often not as clean as it should be. However, this seems to be more of a staffing issue than neglect. The current team is clearly stretched thin and can’t be everywhere at once. Hiring additional cleaning staff would make a big difference.
Equipment Maintenance: A lot of the machines are frequently out of order or damaged. This is largely due to members not treating the equipment with care. Unfortunately, replacements or repairs tend to take a while, which can be frustrating.

Overall:
This gym has potential, and I still use it regularly, but it could really benefit from more support staff and quicker equipment maintenance. If those issues were addressed, it would be a much better experience for everyone. Perhaps charging more to offset these essential operating costs would be warranted.

This used to be such a nice gym to attended. The men’s locker room is absolutely nasty. Poop stains in the toilet, to toilet paper on the ground. Doesn’t look like the locker room been mopped let alone cleaned since they open. Sink area along with mirrors are dirty. Water all over the floor near the water fountain. Equipment is broken. You would think with $60 yearly dues along with $40 a month you would give a more nice complete also clean gym to work out in.

So discriminatory not fixing (or replacing) the recumbent bikes. Need six 100% working units. Old people can't use the tall bikes or the hard seat bikes.

This is my home gym and even just going to check out other 24hr fitnesses in SD. This by far is my fav. Hunter has been my trainer off and on for a year and is amazing. Other staff like Brian and Jackie always make me feel at home and welcome especially through my fitness journey.

It's ok. Has a lot of machines. Usually pretty packed. The main thing that bugs me is the cleanliness of the gym. Out of the 24 hour locations ive been too in san diego the free weights area is by far the smelliest and the cable area that's joined together has crazy amounts of dust stacked on the top of it and i cat h an allergy attack every time i do a workout in that area. Whenever i come in there's like 3-5 people up at the counter. You cant tell me none of them can dust the tops of their machines. Come on guys you can do better than that. 😕

The front desk staff member is rude and didn’t bother to help scan QR codes on the app so I had to take it into my own hands and try to scan it and the staff member “jojo” asked in a rude tone of voice, “Let me ask you a question when you’re trying to read something are you going to do this?”while mocking me trying to move the scanner to scan the QR code to check in. He looked like he was trying to hold a laugh in while watching me struggle to scan a qr code on my phone.
Also, half of the equipment in this 24 is broken and the jacuzzi is dirty

The 24 Hour Fitness on Navajo has hit a new low.

The water in both the pool and jacuzzi is yellow, murky, and visibly unsafe — yet they're still open to the public. When I asked the front desk, they admitted they were aware of the issue but had not performed any water tests to ensure it's safe. That’s completely unacceptable.

I’ve continued coming here for convenience, despite ongoing cleanliness issues in the locker rooms and bathrooms, but this is beyond reason. A potential health hazard like this should be taken seriously. It’s disappointing and honestly alarming to see such disregard for member safety.

This place is in rough shape. At one point, this was one of the newest 24HF locations and it seemed like the place you wanted to be, but they slowly let this place go. Today, 20% of the pin loaded machines are broken and have been for 6+ months, with the same laminated Out of Order signs on them. There's no cleaning schedule and the machines and racks have dust bunnies from months of neglect. As others have mentioned, there's no AC so its always muggy. The basketball courts always have a broken rim or 2, there's even ceiling tiles that have fallen off. It's really sad that a prime location, and one of the few 24HF sites that is truly open 24hrs has been neglected. They purchased new hip thrust machines and treadmills, but didn't invest in fixing broken machines and housecleaning. Very sad.
