Older gym, but decent. It's honestly slightly more than 4 stars, but I can't give it 5, because that would be unfair to other gyms that are actually five stars, like the one on Balboa. But this one is definitely serviceable and has a decent amount of equipment and space, although, the space is spread out a bit, but I actually kinda like that.

People who complain about dirt at gyms, well... every gym has some level of dirt, especially if it's not brand new. So you have to put things in perspective. This one is definitely cleaner than other gyms. Besides, a lot of that has to do with the clientele and not the gym staff itself. They can't clean up constantly after gross gym-goers. People who go to the gym need to respect the gym, clean up after themselves, and rerack their weights!

This has been the worst 24 hours experience in SD. The men’s bathroom has no curtains for the showers, and when I brought it up to the front desk, I was basically told to “just use the ones that have it.” That’s absolutely unacceptable. Instead of fixing the issue or offering a real solution, I was given unprofessional answer.

Idk how this gym is so highly rated and I understand it's the lowest tier 24 hour fitness club as an "active", but dang, it's kind of sad even for an "active". It's much smaller than in the pictures. The main gym room has like no windows, it's all sad lighting, and the ventilation is poor. They have a few fans and looks like what is AC but doesn't work well. Not a ton of equipment. Padding on a lot of them feel worn out. Only one platform. Only one flat barbell bench press station. No real open area for bodyweight/free weight movement. Women's locker room leaking water from the ceiling from multiple spots.

This is truly a regret. There is nothing more absurd than cleaning the shower while people are exercising. I can't take a shower and I have to endure the sound of the cleaning machine on top of my stress load. I've been waiting for a shower for an hour.

hate to give this a low rating but they need to do a deep clean of this gym for sure, AC doesn’t work and dust build up everywhere. Water fountains have limescale build up and looks like nobody uses them at this point. This gym has a great variety of machines but definitely recommend a deep clean of this place.

ared to other 24 Hour Fitness locations, this location ranks very high on my list. Multiple dedicated rooms to cardio all located upstairs. One main floor for weights and weight machines. Large Group X room with plenty of equipment. Although there is only one squat rack and smith machine. I would come here again. There are some issues that I don’t mind. There is no sauna, steam room, or swimming pool. There’s no combination lockers so bring a lock. The weight machines are great. They have PLENTY of weights and you never have to wait on a pair. There’s enough opened space so it doesn’t feel cramped. The parking situation is weird but it seems free for those working out. Since the gym is a little outdated, you don’t get people that try to record their workouts. The gym community seems extremely nice and welcoming. I had no issues with the people or the machines. I would choose this smaller location over the massive, overcrowded influencer gym that always seems packed throughout the day.

This gym is neglected, dirty and falling apart. I have been a member for over 10 years. Over the past five years this gym has fallen into a state of complete neglect.

The pads on many of the weight machines are cracked, leaking padding and dirty. The pads on the biceps machine has been worn through to the wood beneath for two years. The pullover machine becomes locked most of the time requiring a person from the front desk to make it work. But is never repaired. The prone leg machine pads have been cracked and splintered for years. There are many other machines with worn padding that have not been repaired.

There are three water fountains. The water fountain at the rear of the building has been non-functional for a year. One of the two water fountains in the front only produces a trickle of water requiring you to suck on the nozzle. The last water fountain has adequate pressure but only dispenses warm water because the compressor to cool the water has been broken for a year.

The downstairs bathroom has been locked for a year. The locker room bathroom is dirty and smells worse than any gas station bathroom.

Scariest of all: the only emergency exit out of the building besides the front door is at the back of the gym. It has been locked with a bicycle paddle lock for six months. It is also blocked with a six foot tall advertisement for 24 Hour Fitness. This is despite the banner above the locked and blocked door that says; “This Door to Remain Unlocked During Business Hours.” If an earthquake or a fire blocks the front door of the gym there is no other emergency exit out of the building.

I have spoken with multiple front deck people about these issues over the years but.nothing has been done.

I have been going to this location for well over 15 years. But over the last year, maybe a year and a half, it has really gone downhill; the A/C’s don’t work, they use portable units, so on hot days, the men's bathroom turns into a sauna and will be over 100 degrees, the rest of the gym will be 85+. I won't go to this gym after 10 am, it gets too hot. The plumbing is always experiencing issues, so you may arrive and find it is closed, and then it will be closed for days on end while trying to fix the plumbing. A lot of the old equipment at this location. Plus, it's silver alert central, so watch out for the old folks.

This is my neighborhood gym. It’s got all the machines I need and I work out here several times a week. I’ve never had any problems with people at this gym, and the parking is very easy to find. I know some of the other ones are a little fancier, but this one’s good for building muscle. I have a personal trainer here and he is great too.

This is a gym I have been coming to for years! It is always clean, the weights are organized, there is never a broken machine, and if there is it gets fixed right away. Every time I come at 5am Tony is ready to greet me …which helps because I have no energy that early in the morning. I’ve been coming to stadium 24hr fitness for two years, and I have no complaints. It has all of the standard equipment you need for a decent lift, and if something isn’t working, it is repaired in time for your next visit. The staff is very friendly, and David greets me by first name when I come in. It’s not the largest gym with the newest equipment but it has what I need it’s all the same equipment to me, brand new or not. Pricing for a year is unbeatable as well.

I also utilized personal training sessions for the first few months to get me started and to learn how to get a great workout, and I highly recommend Ted for those sessions. He is well educated and very personable.

This is such a friendly safe gym, Jasen who I see everyday, is super sweet and makes everyone feel welcomed. In general all the employees are super sweet and helpful.

Honestly hate the hours here, they are only open from 8am -8pm on Saturday and Sunday. Not even remotely close to 24hrs . They close at 10pm every weekday night and even earlier on weekends. It’s ridiculous this place is called 24hr fitness. COVID restrictions have been gone this place seems to cater hours to its employees rather than it’s clients. Literally the most limited hours and it’s pretty grimey stale air hot never any fans or AC on. Like others have said a lot of broken machines as well

The men's locker room is disgusting. It stinks and is filthy. Very poor plumbing, the sink area has dirty wet floors every time you enter and things constantly broken down, mildew in the showers.
I used to like to take a shower after a long workout, not anymore, it's unsanitary. How unfortunate.

I rarely take the time to write reviews, but I have been a member of 24 Hour Fitness for about 30 years,(no kidding), and this used to be my home gym. Now that they hardly have any classes, I don't come here much anymore. But today was so jarring, I had to write this. The manager was not on site. When I was using the ladies restroom, I looked up to see 3 holes in the ceiling that look right down on the women in the restroom! Apparently the workmen who'd been up in the attic had stopped for the day, and then neglected to cover the holes in the ceiling! Anyone could be up there watching us use the restroom and change! When I alerted front desk, they said they'd called the manager and put in a work order, but this is truly inexcusable! Truly a violation of our privacy. What is happening at this gym? I'm so sad that location really matters when you go to 24 Hour....the ones in more affluent areas would NEVER look like this.

Worked out here for several years with no real issues. I know it's old and the first 24 hour in San Diego. But, you'd think if this gym was one of the originals, it would be a model gym. After real hot days in San Diego, went today. The water fountain was broken, several machines were broken, and worst of all, the a/c wasn't working for 1/2 the gym. Yet, the locker rooms are freezing with good a/c. I suggested to the worker to put a fan near the locker room to blow some cold air out, and he just kinda ignored the request and apologized. Come on 24 hour. Don't say your sorry and that you 'dropped the ball.: Either keep up the gym, fix the a/c, or close the gym. Members shouldn't have to complain in the first place.

This gym is ok. The staff is super friendly but there are some issues. They don't fix the broken equipment fast enough and a lot of the machines are very old. But I can work around that. The MAJOR problem is the cleanliness of the showers. I love to work out in the morning and take a shower before work. That is pretty much impossible to do in the women showers. They are incredibly filthy, moldy and old. Old I can handle but the filth is simply not necessary. The shower stalls need to be brushed and steamed and disinfected. Even the vents are caked with dirt. I have stopped going there even though it is the most convenient location for me. I hope somebody sees this and does something about this. Otherwise, great location.

Needed to get out of traffic so went to this location for the first time. It consists of a bunch of rooms with awkwardly placed equipment throughout. It’s small, old, dirty, dark, and half the cardio machines I tried were broken in some way. It actually felt sad working out here. Also it was a scavenger hunt trying to find the men’s locker room as it’s on the top floor in the corner (and it is really dated) Honestly, I can’t figure out why anyone would pay their hard earned money to come to this location.

Their hospitality was amazing! I was running nearby and rolled my ankle. I limped half a mile to find a place to borrow a phone and call my wife as I didn't have my phone with me. I stumbled into this gym and Elaina at the front desk was amazing. While I was there she provided me with ice packs to start icing my ankle. I had a hiking/climbing trip to Yosemite a week later, and I truly believe the immediate icing helped with the super fast recovery. I had a great time at Yosemite by the way. Thank you so much!!

This 24 hours is my 2nd favorite, not because of the location and equipment itself but the environment, people who come regularly, less crowded and most importantly the staff. Staff is very friendly, respectful and helpful whenever you need help. I don’t know names of everyone they all including the current manager (Adrian) deserve appreciation for keeping the great environment at the gym.

- have a full set of dumbbells, nothing missing (most 24s are always missing things)
- have all of there plates in every size
- full set of equipment
- not too busy, members are respectful and polite, keep to themselves
- can’t beat the price

Cons
- very old facility
- old equipment and a lot is broken
- weird layout but that’s how the building was built

My nephew came to San Diego for a 50-day language course and bought a 2-month membership and returned to his country. We made sure of this by explaining this at the time of registration. However, they charged me for the 3rd month. I went twice and told them that the collection was incorrect and that I wanted to get it back. But they said they would not refund the fee. For $49.90 it's A very cheap approach (

The equipment is fine and overall good gym. The women’s plumbing in the locker room is abominable. The sinks have been backing up for a week!

They should have a plumber available 24 hours for repairs - there is no excuse. Don’t know what it takes to get it remedied?!
