This is a good case of "you get what you paid for". Half of the elliptical machines are fully functional, And after repeated inquiries with management, there's no change. Update: one year later.. nothing has changed! Over half of the elliptical machines still don't work!

This gym isn’t very well maintained. Beyond cleanliness, the biggest issue is that weights are rarely re-racked — it’s always a struggle to find matching pairs. As shown in the picture, weights are often scattered all over the floor. The staff should start each day by arranging the weights properly and ensure members return them after use. A clear and enforced re-rack policy would make a huge difference.
It’s really not hard to educate members on basic gym etiquette. I’ve even seen people toss used tissues on the floor after wiping equipment — staff should remind everyone to use the trash bins.
Unfortunately, many 24-hour gyms in San Francisco seem to overlook these basic rules and don’t enforce them, which is disappointing and irresponsible. I strongly urge this gym to start implementing and reinforcing these simple standards — if you keep reminding members, some will follow and encourage others to do the same.

The Potrero 24 hour fitness facility in San Francisco is the dirtiest and most disorganized gym I have ever seen. The equipment is regularly broken, dumbbells are always missing, trash is all over the floors, and the bathrooms are disgusting and smell like old urine. It's been in the same condition for years. The owners and manager don't seem to care.

I was at 24 hrs today September 25th at 5:00 am and no one was there to open the gym. People waited for 45 minutes and still no one showed up. 2 weeks ago on a Saturday the gym didn't open until 7:30 am. There needs to be 2 people at the gym at all times, maybe one of them would show up.

No le dan mantenimiento a las máquinas, si alguna se daña cuesta más de un mes para repararla o quitarla, y comparado con las otras sucursales, NO tiene variedad de máquinas en especial para entrenar el tren inferior.
They do not maintain the machines, if one is damaged it costs more than a month to repair or remove it, and compared to other branches, it does NOT have a variety of machines, especially for training the lower body.

This gym has its extreme strength and extreme weaknesses. The trainers are fantastic! All very dedicated and knowledgeable. Cannot say enough good things about them. Highly recommend . Also, the manager, Rene, is always very inviting and helpful.
The weaknesses are the bathrooms, unbelievably dirty and smelly. And broken equipment. It is not uncommon to find at least a third of the machines not working. If they can just clean it up and get all the equipment in working condition, it would be a great improvement. The place has potential.

I was hesitant to enroll at first as my first visit was not the best. Cleanliness was sub par and 1 staff in particular wasn’t accommodating.
I visited again after a few months to give it another chance and was pleasantly surprised. Gym has improved in cleanliness and staff was very friendly particularly Carlos (said he just started working there a couple of months ago). He was very friendly, accommodating to all questions and knowledgeable in explaining the different tiers of membership.
After a few days of free trial (thanks!), I gladly became a member. I opted for the month-to-month membership as maybe moving in a few months but still have to pay the annual fee ($60). I wish they would lower this fee for month-to-month members.
Needs improving:
Almost half of elliptical machines are out-of-service. Locker bathroom could be cleaner. Water pools under the urinals and always and dirty. It’s expected due to members coming from the pool. Non-skid mats with holes to avoid stepping into the puddle of water would help.
Parking is free which is a big plus however area is on the shady side with unhoused individuals around the complex. Adding cameras monitored by front desk staff would greatly help with safety and security.
Overall, a great gym with reasonable rates and friendly staff.

Terrible maintenance. They haven’t thoroughly cleaned the bathrooms in years. It never smells or looks like it was scrubbed. Never. Blows my mind. Maintenance of equipment is pathetic. Have they even heard of wd40? It just all seems contemptuous of the clientele. They just take the money and forget about our experience. I like the trainers; they care about the customers. Management, from corporate to local, does not care.

I must give a big shoutout to my fantastic personal trainer, Duncan! After two weeks of working together, I can feel a difference. His approach has completely changed how I think about workouts and helped me ditch some of my old habits. He’s been fantastic at laying a strong foundation for me, activating muscles I didn’t even know I had! Each week, he explains how everything works together so well, making it easier for me to focus and target the areas where I need more strength. I’m already feeling more balanced and stronger, and I can’t wait to keep going!

Half of their equipment is broken or very very old. Just visited another 24 Hour Fitness in Denver and it's like night and day. All the equipment is the same brand but brand new and in mint condition. It's ridiculous because this gym is totally crowded so they have enough fees to pay for it. This is unacceptable.
Also, the bathrooms and the locker room smell like a cesspool and always filthy.

I am a long time 24 patron. 24 is my life saver when I live in San Jose. Now I am in SF. I so appreciate the gym on Bryant and it is improving compared to a few years ago. For one, parking is so easy to go exercise, which is so rare in SF. For two, the class instructor is so good especially the bodypump classes.
I would give it five stars if they can keep the studio cleaner and provide some upgrades.

Great value gym in a convenient location with attached parking lot. This gym has a welcoming environment, not too crowded, and all the equipment you could need (cardio and weights machines, pool, lockers and showers, fitness room with mirrors). In addition, they have fantastic top notch fitness instructors which alone is beyond worth the low membership cost. Note: Some of the old negative reviews are outdated now, and the gym has become higher quality in the recent years.
