This is the worst 24 hour fitness...It's not necessarily the gym although you find your fair share of ellipticals, treadmills, & stair climbers "out of order" but what makes this 24 hour fitness the worst is the clientele here. Everyone sitting on there phones taking there sweet time or monopolizing all the weights, just basically not having any concept of gym etiquette. Come'on people! Do your sets & move on...Anyway, front desk, trainers, & even the gym itself is not bad...just people!

I was only there once during my trip to SF. The equipment is a bit old, the gym isn't that big and the showers don't even have doors. since it's in the Castro, maybe that's the idea...

The staff is not nice at all. The place is absolutely packed. The gym equipment is very old. There is no space to work out. 30% of treadmills and ellipticals are out of order.

Small gym great for quick workouts. For some reason they hid all the water fountains in the side rooms while there's a giant for sale drink machine in the main room. Had to ask the front deck where they where after looking for 10 minutes.

I went in this gym couple times I visited San Francisco. They always make you fill a long form for no reason, I will never join this gym I live in Florida... If you visiting San Francisco DO NOT GO TO THIS GYM it’s filthy, depressing and unfriendly staff. I wish I could give them 0 stars.

This gym deserves another squat rack. There’s enough space for another one right next to the existing one!

Otherwise, it’s a pretty okay gym in the neighborhood.

Too busy, no matter what time you go. Doesn’t have very basic machines. Not enough dumbbells or barbells. There aren’t not enough plates for the machines that they do have, so they get moved all over the place, and you end up spending 5 minutes just trying to find the 5 lb plates. It’s incredibly frustrating that the staff can’t keep things in their place. The gym is very dirty. The bathrooms are absolutely disgusting. Not worth the monthly fee. Go take your business elsewhere

Good workout when you have to get a good workout in. Don't like the vibe when guy's are starring at you when you workout (Castro), but for the most part everyone minds their own business, which is good. Overall ok gym.

I have been working out here off and on for many years. It gets a little crowded sometimes, if you aren't in a rush you can get your work out done. Only 4 starts because the bathroom and locker room can get a little gross. The staff is great and the parking is great!

Very small 24 hour fitness with limited weight lifting machines, the good thing is it doesn't get too crowded. There are plenty of cardio machines however. The machines are kind of old and the bathrooms are pretty disgusting, standard for a gym in the city.

The Market St. (just west of Church Street on the south side of Market) location is my favorite 24-Hr Fitness location. It's always clean, and they keep machines "state of the art". I would rather go to this location than any of the others in The City.

Let's just be honest it's a gym so it just does the trick at the end of the day coming into this place is like going into a prison you're going to have all the people who look like they just got out but at the same time that looks like a gay bar to it's kind of funny going into this place because you get the nasty looking creeps like tonight the guy at the front desk was a complete tool bag when I asked to sign in the guy just looked at me and just gave me a look like dude I'm eating here so I literally just went ahead and just did my thing checked in wasn't any better when I was looking around and saw what crowd was in there it looks like it was The Dawn of the Dead ugly horrible and disgusting looking people should never even going to gym should stay home and there the Crypt the workout tonight was awesome the people are horrible and the service was awful overall it's a gym.

If you've been to a 24 hour fitness you know that there is usually something wrong with the place. Sometimes its towels being strewn across the floor, no paper towels in the dispenser, or perhaps broken equipment. Relative to these almost ubiquitous characteristics this location wasn't bad. When I was there it was clean, everything seemed to be working, and surprisingly there was paper towels and fully stocked sanitation bottles. This location is on the smaller end so I assume at busier times it could be difficult to find equipment that's not being used.

This gym has really great group classes. The Instructors are motivating and really know their stuff. My only complaint is the gym smells awful. It's my go-to gym, and it has everything I need.

Neighborhood gym. This is a small, cheap gym to get your sweat on. Sometimes the air conditioning is broken, sometimes the locker room is dirty, and sometimes it is so crowded that you will not be able to do a curl without bumping into someone. A lot of the equipment routinely breaks. But the staff is nice, the trainers are well qualified, the classes are challenging, and the gym has everything needed to get into or stay in shape. If you are looking for amenities, pay more and go somewhere else.

This gym is in a great location, but the facilities are out of date and small. The cardio machines are old with no individual TVs, and packed close together....like reach for your water bottle and accidentally touch your sweaty neighbor close. Four or five cardio machines are always under repair. That's gets noticeable quickly during peak hours. This gym doesn't offer free towels. The weight area is decent. Overall, this place feels like they tried to cram a full gym into half the space and then gave up trying to keep it updated. Pretty sure nearby Fitness SF Castro is only $10 more for a far, far nicer gym. Don't be enticed like I was for the "good deal" at Costco for a 24 Hr Fitness membership when this gym is mediocre. Explore other options first.

Machines stay broken for months.
Counter staff are robotic pleasant.
24 is a corporate operation owned by multiple investment groups and the "do it for less" shows in every aspect of how the club is run.

There is a very nice woman that walks around with either a hand duster or a damp mop, it's 24's way of showing you that they clean the place on a regular basis. At least she gets some texting done while pushing dust around in what i call the fake cleaning show.

Members regularly trash the club and mistreat the: equipment, wood floors in the fitness room and the shower and bathroom faucet handles which particularly seem to be guilty of some past-life crime as they are the regular recipients of harsh punishment.

Frequently there is either something sticky or "protein powder like" on the sink counters.

Members taking classes in the groupx room regularly prop the doors open in a futile effort to feel cooler, treating those of us outside the room to 120 decibels of shouting instructor over blaring music. (which also frequently causes the AC system in the groupx room to fail as it attempts to cool the entire club)

24 finds any excuse to close. I'm off from work for a holiday and thought it would be a great idea to go to the gym for a workout, low and behold, a locked door and a sign "to allow our employees to have the day off to be with their families..." Lets get one thing straight NO ONE working at 24 in the city has a family to go home to. If they do have family, they moved to San Francisco for a reason and it was not to be with them. And if they did want to be with their family, they certainly cannot afford to fly home on the wages that 24 pays them.

24 thinks they look so cool by closing early for SF Pride. What about all those who could not care less. 24 also closes for Xmas, what about all of us that don't buy or chop down trees to put in the house and decorate with lights just to toss out on the curb for the city to pick up in remembrance of the dawn of the dead shopping miracle.

Truth be told I belong to 24 cause I'm/it's cheap. You could do worse.

This is a smaller 24 hour fitness location but it has all the basic equipment and if you avoid the peak hours, there are usually plenty of equipment to use. This gym is so bad, I am bewildered that the corporate office has not come in and closed it down. The absolute worst utilization of square footage possible, the smallest locker room in any major city, 2 drinking fountains in the entire 2 story gym, and the oldest equipment around (at least the management/maintenance could buy some WD40 for $10 every month to keep the equipment from squeaking).

Conversely, the staff is congenial ... how they can't be embarrassed for working there though ....

A place to lift, and roll out. This is I think the 6th 24hr fitness I've been to since joining, with 2 being in the burbs, and the rest here in the city. The following pros/cons highlight some relative differences.

Pros:
-Smaller, so somewhat cleaner than other city locations. That said, I've found none of the locations to be particularly filthy.
-Convenient location to Lower Haight, Hayes Valley, Castro, Duboce Park, and Mission hoods.
-Looking out over Market while you lift, with the F line going by and the palm trees is pretty cool. But, get your workout done!
-Staff I interacted with were nice.

Cons:
-Definitely the smallest 24hr I've ever been to.
-No towel service. What do I mean by this? Even if you have a SuperSport membership, they literally have no towels. So, just no this if you plan on going to lift, shower up, then grab a beer in the area. You may want to do a light workout to prevent extensive funkiness.
-Equipment-wise, they have most of what you need to get your workout done. But, if you need a bunch of minutia equipment, you may be out of luck. Ex, I didn't see kettle bells there. They may have them tucked away somewhere, but I didn't see them.
-No steam room or jacuzzi.

BAD:

- Very, very cramped.

Horrible gym. One drinking fountain when a class is in session, and it's hidden in the furthest corner of the place. Terrible ventilation. Cramped. They very often ask for a second form of ID, even if you've walked/ran there and didn't want to bring anything more than your keychain dongle. Avoid if you can. Alternatively, go very early or late to at least have some breathing room.

PS: Apparently the have validated parking, though there's no sign and no one inside will tell you of it. Nonetheless, sort of a plus. But note it just enables you to come here, which is like having convenient, hassle-free access to a guillotine.
