It's a nice size, has a pretty diverse set of equipment and facilities, but as many other reviews have mentioned
this location is pretty run down. Machines, scales, bathrooms, and sinks constantly out of service, cracked cushions, weight plates so worn you can't read the numbers, and grips worn smooth by years of use are just a few things I've noticed. The place hasn't been updated in so long the stickers on the inside of the lockers tell you not to leave any valuables like cassette players unattended. One or two of these things wouldn't be a big deal, but altogether they add up to make the gym feel pretty dingy.

They offer exercise classes, but there's only about 3 per day and your options are U-Jam, Zumba, and a senior yoga class which is a pretty disappointing schedule imo. It would be nice if they at least offered bodypump.

Overall, it gets the job done if that's all you care about, but an update is desperately needed.

I love the location of this gym, the employees are awesome (front desk, manager, instructors, maintenance worker, trainers, etc) but my one issue is the plumbing and showers. I’ve been a member for about 20 years and would really love to see the shower redone and the plumbing working great. The shower situation is a mess and the plumbing really needs to get permanently fixed. I beg you corporate to please invest in these 2 things! Everything else is awesome!

This gym has weights, aerobic and weight training machines, a basketball court, a swimming pool, a sauna and a Jacuzzi. Those are the positives; it's well equipped. On the negative side, maintenance is shaky. In the Mens locker room a urinal is missing, leaving holes in the wall. Two doors are missing in the shower stalls. If they were better at maintenance, I'd give this place five stars.

Big shot out to Miguel!

I signed up a yearly membership for my son with autism. Got him PT sessions of 8 for certain price.
Went to his first session together to make sure the coach (Let's call her Sandy) knows his disability. Everything went well. At the end, Sandy wanted to schedule for further sessions. She asked once or twice a week. My son wanted once a week. We settled on Wednesdays.

The next months, another bill was charged. Thankfully, I used limited fund debit card so the payment did not go thru.

It turned out, the 8 sessions were supposed to be used in one month.

Coach Sandy should have reminded us that if we schedule the PT session only once a week, we'd lose the 4 sessions. She was more than happy to set it once a week.

We understand it was miscommunication. However, when I talked on the phone with GM, asked about the charge and why 8 session per month was not clearly communicated - I felt the GM (Not using his name out of respect) - was annoyed. He did cancel the occurring PT session but the 2nd invoice was not removed. Since then, GM did not reply to my two emails requesting to remove the invoice from the account. He did remove the occuring billing so he received my email for sure. I felt very much ignored.

Today, I talked to Miguel over the phone - I recently cancelled Anytime Fitness due to financial reason. I know how to work the equipment. I do miss the clean and less crowded environment but 24 has everything I need - so I signed up.

Miguel helped me to sign up over the phone and he also showed empathy over my son's situation. He assured that it'll be taken care of and if my son is hesitant to go in due to unpaid PT invoice, he'll print out free passes for him - so that my son would feel comfortable. If you know anyone with autism, you'll know they are rule followers. Something is wrong with the membership? They won't go. Verbal assurance does little to help their uneasiness. Miguel knew exactly how to solve the issue and offered great solution to the situation.

(BTW, only 4 stars because the facility is indeed a bit outdated. But staffs work hard and they do the best they can do to keep the facility running.)

This gym is ...ok. what makes it ok is the people that go to the gym . I know you can't help who goes to the gym but I was enjoying the zumba classes but there are people that come in late and act rude and push their way into your space . Yes the zumba is very popular but these are people that are late or who dont even register to go to zumba . Some woman who was late rudely invaded my space,got in front of me and bumped into me. There are those types of people that use weights and have kids/friends "hold onto them " "oh sorry they are still using them "... annoying . I would like to give the gym a higher rating but the condition of the gym is extremely disappointing. The leg press machine has been “Out of Order” for at least 4 years now. People use it to rack weights. Several pieces of equipment that should be bolted to the ground only have bolts in half of the spots. Sometimes it gets disgustingly hot and muggy in here. One time a friend of mine asked the girl at the front desk to turn up the AC and her response was basically “no” because she was cold. I was there a few weeks ago when a piece of insulation literally fell out of the ceiling on top of a guy who was lifting. The women’s locker room is not cared for — bathroom stalls and sinks out of order for years. I would really like it to be better but it’s been this way for years. A handful of people I know have already moved over to city sports and my family will probably be doing the same. The best thing about this place is the current manager. I think he really cares and is trying to make it better.

Had a membership for a year. Three months after I cancelled my membership, I was charged almost $300 for someone else’s annual membership. After calling and speaking to the manager, it was confirmed they charged my card for an annual renewal for a person I have never met or heard of. Been trying to get a refund but have to wait several days for “corporate approval”. There’s been 0 idea from their end on how this is even possible or how such a mistake could have been made. The store manager should be able to issue a refund for their own mistake and take accountability OR give me his supervisors contact information but refused to do that. I’ve spent 3 days calling and reaching out after Pierre saying I would receive a phone call and/or an email from 24 hour fitness but they have yet to reach out first. Supposedly I will receive a refund within the next 2 weeks.

There are few front desk associates that work early in the morning that actually do their job. Most are on their phones and won’t greet you. I don’t know how people are leaving 5 star reviews for this gym, Conditions are worst than horrible, anything bad you can think of this gym has it… where can I start… bathroom floors are in horrible conditions stained dirty mold growing, etc. Showers the same, doors missing on showers mold all over the floor and drains and doors, the smell OMG like they have never been cleaned before, the drains on the shower and sinks are all clogged and the water overfills to the floor, open sewer lines… sauna and steam room smell like old water ceilings have mold growing in them for the humidity, broken locker doors… etc etc I can’t even list everything here… a lot of equipment are either not working or in really bad shape (I hope no one gets hurt)… this gym needs A LOT OF WORK!!!!

I’ve been a member for 24 hour fitness for years and have been to every location in the Bay Area. General Manager Pierre, and his staff are of the highest caliber. They never fail to provide a welcoming, friendly, fun experience to every member that walks in! Their passion for fitness and their love of their gym truly shines through. The gym itself could use a bit of a revamp but I know that falls under the corporate category, and has less to do than the effort put into the club from the staff. The gym provides a variety of amenities and equipment for more experienced lifters while new ones can use the gyms fitness assessments to get a good game plan in starting this new journey! Cons: this is your standard old 24-hour fitness location which doesn't manage the maintenance/ repair, so you will find a bunch of back logged broken aerobic machines, busted toilets, banged up lockers..etc.. it's a small location so it gets busy also and the hours never changed back to 24 hours.

the main issues i have are with the locker rooms, the bathrooms, the showers, and some of the equipment. showers are constantly clogged and filthy, whoever is power-washimg the stalls is either not doing a thorough enough job or they just need a better power-washer. the toilets are usually okay, but can get gross from time to time. the locker room floors look dirty and gross, not sure if they are power washing the floors, but they should. half the lockers are broken and are easily broken into, they should have staff monitoring the lockers periodically to cut down on the theft or hite an outside company to do security. some of the machines are down often, whether it's a mechanical issue or the pads have been torn or destroyed. any given machine could be down for weeks, as well, depending on how urgent they are in having it fixed. they need more duplicate dumbbells more barbells, and i pray to god they get more swlqust racks at some point. this gym is definitely WAYYYY overdue for a facelift. paint is from the 90s or early 2000s, equipment is old, barbells are bent. yeah, man. there's a lot they need to work on.

but other than that, service is ok. staff is friendly enough.

Honestly I'm disappointed in this gym. It's unfortunate that it's proximity is what keeps me there. The gym is so outdated. There's always broken gym equipment and it's stays broken for several months without a care. Why are we paying all this money not to be able to access all of the amenities? Yall gotta keep up. A customer shouldn't have to tell you this.

I hadn’t been to a 24 Hour Fitness in over five years, but recently decided to give it another try. I visited over five different locations near my home and was really disappointed—so many broken or non-working machines, ripped benches covered in tape, and equipment that clearly had not been cleaned or sanitized in a long time.

After some searching, I finally stopped by the Santa Teresa location and was pleasantly surprised. Right away, I noticed someone actively walking the floor, checking machines, and even picking up a stray piece of paper. That person was Pierre, and it was clear he takes pride in keeping the gym as clean and functional as possible.

Yes, the machines are still outdated, but the difference in upkeep and attention to detail here really stood out to me. Thanks to Pierre and the rest of the staff this location feels cared for—and that makes all the difference.
