Squat racks seem to be always missing weight bars, despite having several squat racks available. It’s frustrating that we often can’t find a bar to use or have to go hunting for one. Also multiple stairmasters and ellipticals, only about half of them are functional if that. I'm beginning to wonder if this is the norm at 24 hour fitness gyms at this point and to accept it, but its getting so ridiculous i start to consider if I need to start paying substantially more for a local gym just to have a tolerable experience. Hope things change.

We were members at the old San Ramon gym by the post office, over 25 years ago. And when the Super Sport store opened we were SO excited! It was spectacular. And now, unfortunately, it is a disaster. Unclean, unpleasant, inefficient and depending on the machines you dare to use, downright dangerous. If negative stars were an option I'd select that. Meanwhile, down in Mission Hills in the San Fernando Valley area of LA, they just finished a remodel of the club here and it's beautiful! I wonder if someone is just waiting for the San Ramon lease to expire so that this property can be sold for housing like the rest of Bishop Ranch? I certainly hope not. We need this gym in San Ramon!

24 hour fitness is affordable, but the facilities are terrible. The San Ramon gym is probably the “best” but that’s not saying much. Equipment is missing and/or broken all the time, and the facility is always dirty. To make matters worse it’s always crowded.

This gym is appalling! The lack of maintenance is staggering. I’ve read 24hr staff responses to poor reviews on here, thanking members for their reviews, then saying that the negative comments will spur them on to make positive improvements! Utter nonsense. There is minimal maintenance at this gym period! The seated calf machine has been out of order for weeks, numerous cable machines are out of order. The ab coaster is continually malfunctioning.
Cleanliness - the cardio machines are never cleaned. They’re filthy.
The place is a health hazard. Why it hasn’t been closed as a result is beyond me. Ask the staff why there’s no maintenance and you get a stock answer, “I hear you, i agree, but don’t know what to tell you!” Disgraceful!!

I’ve been a regular here for quite some time, and it’s disappointing to see how quickly things have declined recently. Several cardio machines—especially the ellipticals—have been malfunctioning mid-workout. Just today, three different machines shut down within minutes of use.

What’s most concerning is the response I received when I brought this to the front desk, I was met with a dismissive explanation that didn’t inspire confidence.

I truly hope management takes this seriously and addresses the equipment problems soon. This facility has great potential, and I’d love to see it return to the high standards it once upheld—especially before someone gets hurt.

Note- I'll modify my rating when you make an effort to fix these issues. 40% of all barbells are missing (Mens), giant holes in rubber flooring, every machine has cracked and torn covers, things are constantly out of order for days-weeks. However the sauna and steam room are amazing!

24 Super Sports on Sam Ramon has really downgraded in quality. The place smells bad, the equipment is very limited and it feels more like a local student hangout than a professional gym. Nearly half of the machines are out of order, even the water taps don’t work properly. Definitely not worth the membership fees. I would not recommend this gym to any friends or family.

9 out of 14 Stairmaster has been broken last six months. I have been reporting this issue to the front desk but nothing has changed. Once my contract is over on November, I won't sign up again with the 24 hrs fitness.

I have been a member for many years but I can't believe how far this club has fallen. Many machines are out of service. The men's locker room is usually filthy. Many showers have mold. The club stopped distributing towels after the pandemic. Now thet've reduced the number of paper towel dispensers and often the remaining dispensers are out of paper towels. Not sure what the business strategy is here, but if there was a planet fitness or LA fitness near by I'd jump ship.

I've been coming here for years, and honestly, it's in the worst shape I've ever seen.

I nearly took a tumble on the treadmill because the belt was broken and made me trip.

the dumbbell section is a total mess with weights all over the place, nothing is organized.

the Olympic lifting area is a wreck; it looks like half the barbells are missing, and some only have the women's barbell available.

Most days, there are hardly any paper towels around.

There's a lot of broken equipment scattered throughout the gym.

This gym is dangerous. The benches are crooked. Go sit on the right most flat bench and your left hand is 4 whole inches past your right hand. The plate holders are falling off. The same TV on the left side of the gym has been flickering for 6 months. The garbages are emptied once a day. The barbells are missing from half the benches. The treadmills are broken down. Whoever the gym manager is obviously doesn't care about the place.

I've been here for two months and switching to CSA or Equinox. It's not worth the cheap price here.

Tons of machines at this place are broken or missing key components. I was told they only have one mechanic, and that he's been away or out sick or something. But it's been like this for over a year now. The other day I counted 24 machines down. Why not hire an additional mechanic? Or just bring in a contractor as a stop-gap until everything is fixed?

Retracting my old review with an updated 1 star! (ZERO if I could). This gym is unacceptable. The facility is consistently dirty, and the equipment situation is worse than I’ve ever seen. There are more broken machines than working ones. The majority of the treadmills, elliptical, and stairmasters are out of order, and a stall in the women’s bathroom has been broken for nearly one year. A year! Even their front door entrance has been broken for sometime with what seems like no intent to fix.

The basics aren’t maintained. The paper towel dispensers are always empty… if you can even find one that isn’t broken. The same goes for cleaning spray bottles: there are hardly any available, and when you do find one, it’s usually broken too.

There are no 2.5-pound plates, and finding a 5-pound plate feels like a scavenger hunt. There are no bar clips, and the rope attachment for the cable machine are always missing. Mats are seldom available… you have to walk around wasting time just to find one, and dumbbells are constantly missing. You end up spending more time searching for equipment than actually working out.

On top of that, you can literally see the equipment falling apart. Seats are ripping at the seams, machines creak loudly when you’re on them, and they feel unstable. And instead of fixing anything, they just slap a sign that says, Broken. Out of Order.

I would not recommend this location to anyone. And I hope corporate steps in to fix this gym. Because it’s gross.

I’m a regular member of 24 hour fitness for 3 years now. I mainly go here for group classes throughout the week. I also use the treadmill occasionally. I feel this place is decent value for the price you pay.

I’m going to request for 2 very important changes here.

1. Please incorporate verification of class check-ins booked on app before class begins.
Most classes are overfull and many people just walk-in into classes which is so unfair. I’ve spoken about this to management several times but there has been no action whatsoever.

2. This is like a must be done thing. Please add more 2.5 lb and 5 lb weights for bodypump. This is a real pain point and soooooo many people save extras for their friends while many folks don’t get any. This makes it hard to do a class well.

I hope some real action is taken on this. I would love to come back here and say yes, members concerns are genuinely addressed here and improve my rating.

I had a really disappointing experience with staff at this 24 Hour Fitness. I accidentally left my $70 Hydro Flask in the bathroom and realized it shortly after. I called ahead and politely asked if someone could retrieve it for me since I was on my way to work and wouldn’t be back until late, I was told it was against policy even though I explained it was an expensive bottle.

When I came back after work around 11 PM, the bottle was gone stolen. I understand having rules, but when a guest makes a clear and reasonable request, it’s frustrating to feel like you’re just brushed off. A little help could’ve prevented this. No one even offered to take down my info or make a note. I expected better support from a gym I pay for.

Apparently, they get 5-10 complaints every single day that are passed on to the assistant manager and the general manager and they do nothing to fix the machines. any morning or evening it’s basically impossible to use those machines. I really enjoy the classes at the 24 Hour Fitness. KK (BodyPump) and Mayra (BodyCombat) are outstanding instructors who consistently deliver high-energy, motivating workouts. The front desk team is also always helpful and welcoming.

That said, there’s an ongoing issue with equipment especially weights availability during popular classes. It’s frustrating to see people setting up for multiple friends, leaving others without enough weights. This isn’t fair and needs to be addressed. Investing in more weights and stricter enforcement of setup rules would go a long way in improving the experience for everyone.

It has been a couple of years since I have been at this facility, but I must say that in two years, it has become a disaster.

Dumbbells are not racked accordingly and are scattered everywhere. There are no clips for the free weights. Trash and water bottles left on the floors, rubber mats have holes in them in the dumbbell area, and cardio machines are either broken down or need cleaning. And there is no wipes or sanitary spray to clean equipment after using it.

Pluses are the staff is friendly, this gym is still open 24 hours like it's name, and there is plenty of equipment.

I am very disappointed in 24HR Fitness, and I know you all can do better!

This is the largest, and most overused gym I have ever been to. It seems pretty under managed. Eight squat racks but none are available on a regular basis. No 5 lb weights to be found, no clips for plates to be seen. Bathrooms in need of maintenance. Kind of weird how high the people density is here, don't think we patrons are getting fair value for money. Desperately needs management, and expansion or another nearby site opening.

The main issues here seem to be a lack of manpower, inadequate funding, or simply a disregard for customer experience. The parking situation is terrible but it doesn’t compare to the condition inside. Machines are frequently out of service, the vents are dusty, and the floors are either stained or scattered with hair and dust balls.

A major concern is the swimming pool area. Ever since it became a site for public swim lessons, it’s been a no go for me. With children learning in the pool, the likelihood of urine in the water increases. I’ve also witnessed cleaning staff mopping the surrounding area and allowing dirty water to run into the pool, which is extremely unhygienic.

I’m giving a 3-star rating because, despite the poor facility conditions, the group fitness classes have been a valuable and consistent part of my fitness journey. Sadly, the 24 Hour Fitness I remember before COVID was in much better shape than what it has become today.

This gym renewed a membership that I never authorized to be renewed. I got charged $650 for a membership I never knew about or used. The general manager has not replied to my emails and it has been two weeks. I call in and the workers state he "does not talk to people on the phone". I have contacted customer service and received no reply. No one will help me and I am at my wits' end. It has been 3 weeks since I brought this to their attention and still no one has contacted me. I will be pursuing legal action.

Have been going to this for about 10 years. It really has just gotten worse over time sadly. Machines (ESPECIALLY CARDIO) are always broken. Seems like no one ever comes to fix them, and if they do the machines are broken the very next day lol. It was already bad enough that the hygiene and cleanliness of this gym is absolutely terrible, but the abysmal upkeep of vital machines at this gym is just absurd. Unfortunately, I got roped into a membership for a year at a time where it was semi-decent as far as upkeep, but now I regret that decision when I am constantly in search of a treadmill to use after my workout. Not to mention if you do find a “working” treadmill, the incline or various other functions will not work. Do yourself a favor and go to another gym. DO NOT COME HERE!

It’s very disappointing, especially for the location, to be as dirty as it is and all the equipment that is broke/out of service. Currently there are 8 treadmills not working and other equipment that levers are broke, medicine balls cracked and free weights scattered all over the gym. 24 Hrs has been my gym for over 15 years! Writing this review in appreciation of the very helpful and courteous front desk staff with a special thanks and shout out to Laurie. Laurie is truly a great person to work with and i have personally been helped by her on several occasions. Also the late night staff are stellar. Equipment is not well maintained. Most machines are broken in need of maintenance. Some are very unsafe. Weights are not put away, staff never cleans up and organizes the weights. Only one set of cable handles and one of the close grip v handles for cable machines. Only one easy curl bar.

I showed up at 8:15 for the Bodypum class, which is at 9:00, and I couldn't find the equipment. Some people set up equipment for their friends who don't arrive until 8:55, and it's not fair. Please do something about this, because it's getting worse. Now we have to arrive at 8:00 or 7:50 to find weights. it's ridiculous

No stars!! I have been a member for years!!
Getting here at 8;15 for a 9:00 class and all bars and weights and benches are all taken!
I bought my own weights and Matt to remedy this. This is absolutely ridiculous. People are setting up their friends and no one is here!!
You need to either have a class before or not let people in until 8:50 to set up. It is simply not fair!! You need to fix this!!

I ended up in the area for work and figured I’d get a quick workout in while waiting out traffic. Walked in and got greeted right away by some really friendly staff. First thing I noticed was how huge this place is. Honestly, it kind of caught me off guard. They’ve got machines for everything and a bunch of variations, so I never had to wait around. Even though it was busy, I knocked out my whole routine without a problem.

Only thing that bugged me was the people leaving their bags on the floor next to machines they were not even using. Like come on, were y’all raised in a barn? Did you mama not teach you gym etiquette? Take your stuff with you. I get it though. This is the Bay and nobody trusts the lockers. Still, it clutters up the floor and gets in the way.

Anyway, this gym is way better than any 24 Hour Fitness I have ever been to in San Francisco. Place is clean, organized, and clearly run by people who care. On my way out, every staff member said goodbye and I actually stopped to tell them how much I liked their gym. Not just because it was well kept, but because the staff was genuinely cool.

And here is the part that really stood out. They asked for my name and introduced themselves one by one. Luis, Hope, and Chris if I got that right. That kind of energy and respect is rare. SF locations could really learn something from this spot. Props to San Ramon for getting it right.

I'm so thankful for my personal trainer, Cheryl. She truly is a gem and has kept me motivated to stick with personal training. She is so kind and knowledgeable about all things fitness-related. My goal was consistency at the gym, and I have been training with her for over a year now, and I hope to continue training with her for many more years to come. I have arthritis, and she has modified my workouts so that I can continue to work out without exacerbating my arthritis. My personal training sessions with Cheryl helped to alleviate my arthritis pain. I'm thankful to have someone like Cheryl who believes in me and pushes me to never give up.

I would also like to give a shout out to the wonderful ladies at the front desk who are very kind and considerate. Chris is also another great 24 Hour Fitness employee who is very kind and helpful.

I love 24 hour Fitness!! We have great instructors and classes BUT it is so frustrating that for bodypump class there are not enough weights even if I get to the gym almost one hour earlier just to get weights. Before pandemic all people could have all the equipment to work out now there are weights only for half of people.

We also need more pump classes around noon and cleaner rooms. Thank you !!

This superclub was remodeled couple years ago, and there are lots of equipments and weights.
However, routine cleaning and upkeep are lacking. Half of the hand sanitizer dispenser are broken, there is no paper towel in Men Bathroom, nobody clean the pool area anymore, the evening attendant's main task is looking at his phone. To top it off, the Jacuzzi had been broken for months again, since early April 2025.

This is the absolute dirtiest and most unkempt gym I have ever been to. I finally canceled my membership today after dealing with the disgusting conditions for several months. There is never any cleaning done here, they’re always out of cleaning supplies, the machines are consistently out of service, and no one seems to have any consideration for other people using the weights. They are thrown around all over the floor and I spend my first 5-10 minutes every day re-racking them. The women’s locker room is so dirty that I refuse to even go in there.

I had enough today after I had gone upstairs to get on an incline treadmill and only 4 out of like 12 machines were working, then I went over to the stair masters and maybe 3 of 12 were working. This is a regular occurrence here. After waiting some time I was finally able to get onto a machine and there was chewed up gum on the handles, along with a dirty water bottle. The machine that I was on was also barely working and kept jamming up.

This is one of the busiest facilities yet they do not care about their members, and it really shows. I immediately drove over to the equinox and signed up for a membership with them. I am no longer giving this horrible gym my money to pay for absolute filth.

Doors closed and locked at 6am on May 6, 2025. Absolutely no communication on 24's part to let their paying members know the location is closed for whatever reason. I watched an employee try to open the doors looking just as confused as the rest of us there to exercise. The poor communication on top of filthy conditions and broken equipment is the icing on the cake. Does anybody even run this place? Like literally, who is in charge??

Terrible staff. Most can barely utter a greeting when members come in. They don’t enforce gym rules or etiquette.

When damaged equipment is reported they don’t report it to management.

Most of the staff sit on the counter top with their hoodies on while glued to their phones.

As a former gym employee, this gym takes the cake for complete GARBAGE. They reflect the gym itself.
