I appreciated the excellent customer service at the front desk of this gym - it’s welcoming and helpful. I also like that the location is nearby, and the steam room is a nice bonus.

However, I noticed some cleanliness issues that could be concerning for health. The air ducts in the showers have dust buildup, and the shower heads show significant calcium deposits. The leaking roof and bathroom sink maintenance also need attention. Corporate should really come and check out the bathrooms and pay attention to these issues.

For me, this 24 hour fitness brand has always been top-notch, but I’m unsure about this location. I will continue to keep my membership at another location, which is spotless. If these issues were addressed, I would consider switching.

1/5 – This gym has become unsanitary and unsafe.

I’ve been a loyal member of this gym for 8 years, and I’ve never left a negative review in my life. But the level of filth and lack of sanitation in this facility has gotten so bad that I can’t stay silent anymore.

The men’s locker room and bathrooms are consistently dirty. Every visit, I find the same issues:
•Sinks completely clogged with filthy water
•No soap in some sinks
•Floors covered in dirt and stains
•Hair left everywhere from people shaving in the sinks
•Mirrors and counters that look like they haven’t been cleaned in weeks
•A constant bad smell in the restroom area

The showers, sauna, and steam room also show visible buildup and lack of any real cleaning or maintenance. What makes it worse is that members are paying not only a high membership fee, but also an annual “maintenance” fee — yet the facility looks neglected.

But the biggest concern for me is the pool area. Multiple times, I’ve seen people rinsing their dirty sandals inside the pool, right after walking through the filthy locker room. This is a serious hygiene and health risk, and staff does nothing about it.

I have attached photos taken on different days showing clogged sinks, dirty floors, filthy mirrors, and sandals placed on the pool edge. These issues are not isolated they are recurring and ongoing.

I used to love this gym, but the conditions have gotten worse and nothing has improved. For the price this gym charges, this level of cleanliness is unacceptable.

I hope management takes this seriously, because members deserve a clean and safe environment.

The 24 Hour Fitness on Edinger & Bristol is flat-out unacceptable. Machines are constantly broken, the floors and equipment are filthy, and multiple ceiling leaks drip onto the workout area like it’s a third-world facility. Worst of all, roaches have been seen crawling in the spa and restrooms — this is a serious health hazard.

Management doesn’t fix issues; instead, they pressure members to post fake positive reviews to cover up the truth. That’s dishonest, manipulative, and insulting to paying customers.

The hours are a complete scam — closing at 10pm on weekdays and even earlier on weekends. Calling this place “24 Hour” is false advertising and a bait-and-switch for anyone who joins expecting actual 24-hour access.

This gym is unsafe, unsanitary, and poorly managed from top to bottom. It’s an embarrassment to the brand. Corporate or even the health department needs to intervene immediately — this location should be shut down until it’s fully repaired, sanitized, and brought up to basic standards

I most definitely agree with the negative comments on here.

A lot of us are fully aware of the rapidly declining conditions of this gym. It appears that other members have already been voicing the same concerns that I’ve only been silently thinking about for over a year. It feels like all around us, we continue to get less for more, but it is truly disappointing to see this happening at our local gym which is supposed to be an escape from the chaos of the world. The worst part is that nothing has been done to address these issues. It feels like no one is listening. (Also, please stop asking us to go into the official page to personally reach out to us, we don't want you to talk to us personally, as we have already taken then time to write out our concerns on here so that you address all of these issues for the sake of our entire community. We don't want your apologies, we want IMMEDIATE ACTION to fix these issues.)

First off, the 24 Hour Fitness hours in this area are laughable. LA Fitness AND Planet Fitness both have longer working hours. That is frankly embarrassing. It feels like we are still living in the dark COVID times with all of these pathetic time restrictions. They were supposed to be lifted years ago once the pandemic ended and yet here we remain - restrained. 24 Hour Fitness is definitely not living up to its branding promise.

Also, multiple machines are in desperate need of repair. So many of the comfort pads are completely worn down and have not been replaced. I am often getting scrapped on those. Some are straight up broken and not usable and have been for WEEKS. This completely messes up our workout routines.

Moreover, we used to have access to TWO weight rooms and now we are down to ONE. The other one has been locked for personal training use ONLY. Which is THEFT because when I paid for my membership it was available to ALL OF US without any of us needing to pay extra. Not to mention, that half of the equipment that I tend to not be able to find… is all locked up in that room. It is so frustrating! Especially when nobody is in there and yet you are not allowed to use it (even though we all originally paid to be able to use it through our membership fees). What a waste and robbery.

Which brings up another concern. If you go in the morning the weights appear to be fully re-racked in certain areas. In others, they appear to be missing. If you go into the only other weight room available you will find the missing ones in there scattered everywhere where they do not belong. The others are locked up in the restricted trainer weight room. So you have to either:

1. Make sure the staff re-racks all weights before opening daily.
2. Get a new weight rack for the weight room so that there are enough weights in all areas.
3. Reopen the obviously necessary second weight room.

Honestly, with the high amount of traffic coming through in this facility, all of these solutions should be applied IMMEDIATELY.

Moreover, if you go at night - hardly anything is in its place. Weights and trash are scattered throughout the entire gym which is not only annoying & unattractive but highly dangerous. Someone is going to get hurt one day. You absolutely need to:

1. Extend the hours to help scatter the amount of traffic coming through so that there is more space and comfort for everyone.
2. Hire more people to cover more areas to clean effectively
3. Give the staff you are already overworking and taking advantage of a raise.

Also, I have not seen this personally yet, but my coworker who goes in the morning told me this week that she saw two cockroaches in the locker room and that is pretty disgusting.

Please take our concerns seriously and try your best to address them ASAP.

P.S. Someone mentioned 5AM - 12AM as minimum working hours and I concur. Again, that would be MININUM.

Corporate Wake-Up Call — 24 Hour Fitness (Bristol & Edinger, Santa Ana)

This location is an absolute embarrassment to the 24 Hour Fitness brand. It’s filthy, roach-infested, and clearly abandoned by both local management and corporate oversight. Machines have been broken for weeks — some for months — with zero urgency or updates. It’s not just inconvenient; it’s dangerous and disgusting.

Jay, the current manager, is completely useless. There’s no accountability, no initiative, and no sense of pride in maintaining the facility. Under the previous manager, Andrew, this gym had structure and care. Now? It’s in free fall. The decline is undeniable, and it’s directly tied to failed leadership.

To make things worse, the gym hours are terrible. This location should, at minimum, be open every day from 5 AM to 12 AM. The current limited schedule only adds insult to injury, making it even harder for working-class members to access the services they’re paying for — especially when most of the equipment doesn't even work.

What’s more disturbing is corporate’s continued silence. This gym has been the subject of dozens of critical reviews, and still, nothing has changed. Has corporate completely checked out? Do paying members not matter anymore? The brand’s reputation is crumbling at the local level, and this location is the perfect case study in how not to run a gym.

This facility serves many students and community members who rely on it for mental and physical health — to stay off the streets and focus on self-improvement. The way this location is being allowed to deteriorate is not only shameful, it’s irresponsible.

Here’s the truth: If corporate doesn’t step in, renovate the facility, overhaul the management, extend the hours, and restore basic standards of cleanliness and function — you don’t deserve to call it a “24 Hour Fitness.”

It’s a good gym to go in and get a solid workout in. Front desk is always nice. Especially the main opener America, she is always friendly and welcoming and makes sure the gym floor is keep nice.

Men’s locker room/ restroom could be checked a little more frequently. Outside the sauna smells a little weird. But aside from that not a bad gym.

This 24 Hour Fitness location at Bristol & Edinger is a textbook case of mismanagement and neglect, and quite frankly, it reflects poorly on the corporate brand as a whole.

Not Actually Open 24 Hours:

Let’s start with the obvious — this gym is not open 24 hours, despite the name and marketing that suggest otherwise. That alone borders on false advertising and raises serious credibility issues.

Equipment in Constant Disrepair:

The majority of equipment here is either broken, malfunctioning, or visibly deteriorating. Machines remain out of service for weeks with no clear maintenance schedule or communication. For a facility that charges full membership fees, the lack of functioning equipment is unacceptable.

Unacceptable Facility Conditions:

The studio room has no working air conditioning, only a ceiling fan.

The cycle room has been closed indefinitely, with formerly accessible equipment removed or locked away.

The entire facility is unsanitary: locker rooms, showers, and workout areas are consistently dirty. Trash overflows, surfaces go uncleaned, and hygiene protocols appear non-existent.

Management Breakdown:

The General Manager, Jay, seems more concerned with managing his image than managing the facility. Member concerns are routinely dismissed or deflected, and there is no visible plan to resolve the mounting issues. This is not simply a staffing problem — it is a leadership failure.

Corporate Should Take Immediate Action:

This location requires urgent attention from upper management or corporate. Specific actions should include:

A full audit of operational and sanitation standards.

Immediate repair or replacement of nonfunctional equipment.

Retraining — or replacing — current management.

Restoration of full member access to all facilities.

Honest and transparent communication with members moving forward.

Final Thoughts:

This gym is operating far below industry standards. Members are paying for services that are no longer being delivered, and the current condition of this location could pose legal liability risks for the company if left unchecked. If 24 Hour Fitness intends to protect its reputation, it should intervene immediately.

Until then, I cannot recommend this location to anyone.

Seniors, many of whom rely on this location, are unable to voice their concerns due to a lack of support and guidance with mobile-based feedback systems. This leaves many voices unheard and valid concerns unaddressed.

The contrast between the facility and other nearby 24 Hour Fitness locations is stark—this gym is outdated and in desperate need of renovation. It's disheartening, especially considering that this location serves a diverse and motivated community, including many local students who use the gym as a positive outlet to stay off the streets and focus on personal growth.

Credit must be given where it’s due: the front desk staff and the lady janitor remain attentive, courteous, and professional despite the challenges they face. Their effort is evident—but it’s not enough to offset the larger systemic issues rooted in poor management and neglect.

This gym once thrived under previous management (specifically Andrew), who maintained high standards and created a welcoming, structured environment. Today, it’s the opposite. As a long-time supporter of 24 Hour Fitness, I urge corporate to take immediate action. The current conditions are not only unacceptable—they’re a disservice to the loyal members who continue to show up despite them.

They never have working machines and it takes them forever to fix them since I started 3 of there incline machines are out of service this was since April it’s not June and they still don’t work they turn off and now they make weird noises and there’s limited also so it’s hard to get the workout out done if you don’t tell them they would never notice

To be honest, the 24 Hour Fitness on Edinger in Santa Ana has really impressed me. The gym provides everything you could possibly need, including a ton of reliable equipment, immaculate facilities, and a positive atmosphere all around. I wasn't expecting to find a place this well-kept, but this place is excellent. The weights are always racked, they have machines for every activity, and they even have a real punching bag setup and hip thrust machine things that I know are lacking in many other places.

Val, the SSE, was the one that truly enhanced the experience. She made me feel quite welcome right away. She made the entire joining process feel very simple and comfortable, answered all of my sporadic questions, and guided me through everything. Her genuine concern for the members is evident, and that type of enthusiasm sets the tone for the entire gym.

Additionally, there is a fantastic mix of people there many familiar faces and it never feels crowded or frantic. The staff's continual cleaning and maintenance of the place has given me a great deal of peace of mind. All in all, it's just a terrific gym with nice staff and a fantastic layout. I am glad that I chose this one.

Seeing the bad reviews truly makes me sad that those members probably dont let the staff know first hand. Each time ive asked for the TV changed or for a restroom clean/supplies staff is always on it. I love edinger and the staff for their hard work. Thank u val for signing me up and my trainer Angel. All the staff really nice and gorgeous women too. But I have to be honest the workout machines are outdated really old, men's bathrooms are always dirty and filthy. Many times when i went to the bathroom theres no toilet paper its very disappointing. Its not the ladies fault, who works their by her self, shes very nice, i told her you want me to help you. She said they need to hire more men to clean the mens bathrooms. Also their are to many kids just hanging out and just using their phones sitting on work out machine. Many times, i back up girls who are waiting for the work out machine"hay bro are you going to work out if not please get off, cause she wants to work out!!

Been going to this gym since it’s opening day and I love it because of the convenience of where it’s located. The staff is great and I’ve noticed they added better and more improved staff as of recent. Ricardo Muñoz helped me renew my membership there for another year. This is a great smaller 24 hour to go to get in get out and get the job done. Not huge. It’s got a lot of equipment. It’s never usually packed packed like some spots. Jay, the manager is the best and tries to create a culture with a customers agreed to and cared for. I’ve been to a lot of 24 businesses, but I’ll probably never considered employees my friends. Jay has been encouraging to myself and my wife since the get go and has definitely become a friend. He’s always pushing us towards our goals and encouraging us to get there.
