I want to start off by saying, I literally never write reviews, but I have to write one because of the terrible customer service.

When I signed up, they promoted a free coaching session that I was excited to try it. Well… it was not a free coaching session… it turned into the trainer pressuring me to purchase a training package. I said multiple times: I’d like to think about this further, but I was ignored and she just kept pressuring me for 15 minutes. That being said, the trainer, Marcella, seemed nice and it was something I was considering doing anyways so I decided to go ahead and purchase it — even though this session was not what was advertised. We did ZERO training. It was just 15 minutes of asking me questions and 15 minutes of pressuring me into buying a package, not the 50 minute personal training session that was advertised to me. Anyway, I could get past that interaction, but it was the customer service that followed that has truly left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

So unfortunately, I lost my job just a day after signing up for this package so I called the facility on Monday, which was within the 5 day cancellation window where I am eligible for a full refund as it states in the contract. I was told by the front desk, that a manager would call me back in 5 minutes. Well, I waited an hour and received no call so I called back and the front desk said again that someone would call me back later. I then sent an email stating that I wanted to cancel so I have official documentation and I continued to wait. I received no call for 4 hour so I called them again, but since it was the evening by that time, no one picked up. I was a bit upset as this was time sensitive so I called back the next day on Tuesday (still within the cancellation time window) and I was told both managers were out of the office all day for a training. However, a nice man named Spencer helped me. He contacted the managers and confirmed with them that I would receive a full refund and that they would extend another business day to cancel the contract since the managers were out of the office. He also said they should call me the next day after their training to confirm. Well.. I again received no call so I called them. This time I was able to speak to the manager and he was very nice and helpful and he also spoke to the general manager for me. He said that the general manager Ashley, was familiar with my case, apologized for the delays and my job loss and said that they would like to offer me some type of deal but I declined — just saying I preferred getting my full refund. He agreed, wished me well and that was the end of the phone call.

I thought everything was resolved… well now it is almost three weeks later and I still have not received a refund--the contract states refunds are given within 10 days. I reached out via the contact form 10 days ago and I have heard nothing. I just sent another email today to customer service directly.

To be honest, I find all of the behavior super unprofessional: from false advertising the free coaching session to not receiving calls back on something time sensitive and involving a large sum of money. Considering my job loss and also the amount of OVER $1000 they're delaying in refunding, shows their lack of sympathy combined with poor management.

Personally, I was getting the feeling they were trying to avoid me… either hoping I would reconsider or the contract cancellation time period would run out and they could then claim their hands were tied. That is why I made sure to document it on email. It’s a shame because I feel like all the staff is really nice, but they do not handle customer issues well. By reading the other comments, I can see I am not the only one with these kind of issues.

Worst experience I've ever had from a professional facility
Reason for my post is I needed a trainer as recently I had heart surgery
First day reporting for with the trainer trainer arrive 10 minutes late no apology I mentioned it he said your first session is free there's nothing to apologize about I fired him general manager came out assigned me a new trainer you turned out to be a home run a very nice person to work with
Come to find out had second issue the price quoted verbally for the trainer was for a 3-month period at that time they requested my payment card which I gladly gave with acceptance of the 3-month training period
What's the sign the new trainer and given the manager's card and no paperwork thought everything was in order 2 weeks later I had an issue
New trainer says I owe money for the following month
I said that's impossible I'm covered for 3 months I've paid already
Unbeknown to my knowledge they changed the whole contract as I was not even given anything in writing at that time when I signed up
They said my payment was for one month only I said that's impossible but I had nothing in writing
finally got ahold of the general manager she came out a bag will give me my money back and let's cancel this contract
She begged me to say and offered me all these free days that said she was going to put into my contract also saying my contract was paid in full and I'm good until February
Came in for my scheduled appointment trainer said I'm not covered in payments you could not help me requested to speak to general Manager again
She was very rude would not even discuss what was discussed 4 days prior to this day said she did not have any time to talk with me let me out of her office and as soon as we were out of the office she said I will pay the $100 to get you out of your contract and said we're done
I said what about my refund for the other two months I'm not receiving she said there is no other two months you will not get any refunds
I really couldn't believe what was going on
Also as soon as she led me out of her office 10 steps ahead of me not having our conversation which he said we were going to do turned around and said we're done
She gave me a printout on that Monday here we are on Wednesday from our verbal agreement on Monday I did not bother to look at the paperwork she handed me which was not the contract I originally contracted for
Planning to go to the district office which is not far from Walnut Creek
Look up the district office and is not far it is located in San Ramon plan on going to district office after the holiday unfortunately which I have to wait for
Badon me I should have looked at the contract but I took her word for what she was telling me saying everything was good and that I have not until February for next billing
Hopefully we'll have better service through customer service at company headquarters

I'm grateful for this gym and like the selection of equipment. However, it's asking for 5-star ratings so they can add more classes. Very busy , members don’t have considerations on others, sits on the equipment browsing on their phone , while others are waiting to use, this is a cheap membership so all kinds of crowds come in here, even homeless using showers n bathrooms , I brought this up with the management about members sitting g on the equipment and not even exercising but I was brushed off , I came to cancell membership and 3 of us waiting for the the “only “ person who does cancellation which I find ridiculous !

Human waste on the ground in the mens locker room for multiple hours, today around 12:30pm 11/14/25. This is unacceptable and we pay way too much money to not have this type of thing cleaned up immediately. This is a health code violation.

I would have loved to bring it to someones attention but there is never anyone at the front desk. A lady was being helped when I walked up and waited at the front desk. After a couple minutes went by and I had zero interaction with the only team member up front or any type of acknowledgement that I was there at the desk waiting to speak with someone, the man walked to the back area and completely disregarded me standing right next to them waiting to speak. You guys need to do better. This is a massive health violation and I cannot justify paying over $200 a year when this type of thing happens all too often.

Also, the parking situation is atrocious. The have signs that say 24 hour fitness parking only, but everyone going to Chic Filet uses these parking spots. There is zero accountability from 24 hr fitness or any enforcement on the spaces and Im not sure anyone has ever actually done anything about the problem with this. You could hire a single security guard to watch the lot and you would have a massive amount tows every single day from the people who park in the 24 hour fitness spots going to Chic filet.

Do better. If I could give 0 stars I would have.

planned workout disregarded. One person drove from Livermore and the instructor didn’t show up. I have been a member since 1993 and there are some real issues at 24 Hour with communication between staff and instructors. Also,lack of parking and cleanliness can be annoying

Complete Waste of Time Misleading “Free Pass” Policy and Poor Customer Service by SPENCER “Spence” & 24 HR Fitness

I registered online through the official 24 Hour Fitness website for a three-day guest pass, entering all my personal information full name, email, and phone number expecting to try out the Walnut Creek location before committing to a membership.

After driving 35 minutes each way, I was denied entry at the front desk despite showing my valid pass. The service advisor on duty, Spencer, kept me waiting nearly 10 minutes while he finished a phone call, then proceeded to tell me my pass could not be honored simply because I had been a member many years ago.

This policy is nowhere clearly disclosed on the website not in the sign-up form, not in the fine print. If prior membership automatically disqualifies you from using a guest pass, it should be stated up front before wasting people’s time and collecting their personal information.

I recently relocated to Walnut Creek and was genuinely interested in checking out this gym, but after this experience, I have no desire to return. The dismissive attitude, lack of transparency, and poor communication from both staff and corporate policy reflect a serious disregard for customer experience.

Bottom line: 24 Hour Fitness should either clearly disclose their restrictions online or stop promoting misleading “free passes.” And as for customer service Spencer needs retraining on how to handle paying customers (and potential new ones) with professionalism and respect.

I train at this spot. I’m a gym rat, and have been one for decades. If you’re in the area and need a place to get in a workout, this spot is worth your time.

Equipment is plentiful, well maintained and suitable to accommodate a real workout.

The community is kind. People who train here understand gym etiquette abs observe it.

It’s clean. The locker rooms are solid, the equipment well maintained and cleaning stations plentiful.

And the GM, Ashley Shaffer, knows what’s up. She’s good with her staff, kind and engaging to gym patrons, and willing to listen to concerns.

I’ve ended up joining another gym in the area due to the disgusting state of this facility. I’ve been a loyal member of 24 hr for 20+ years and it is so sad to how far it has fallen. The locker rooms are only cleaned once a week. There is dust and grime in common areas, stairs, equipment. As a nurse, the last thing I want to do is work out in filth after my 12 hr shift. This location is disgustingly unkept. Trash bins are constantly overflowing and there’s general trash everywhere. I have yet to come to this location and it not be like this. I have expressed my frustration and concerns to multiple staff members but they clearly don’t care.

I subscribe through my insurance, and I recently discovered, unbeknownst to me, that my subscription had been cancelled by 24 Hour Fitness. I went in today to see if I could get this issue resolved, as a prior team member was unable to assist me.

I am so glad I ran into TJ. He was incredibly helpful, kind, and patient while working through the issue. He took the time to not only understand the problem with my insurance subscription but also to successfully reactivate my membership.

If you are a serious gym goer , I do not recommend this gym one bit , 25-50$ a month is a total rip off , you’re better off at planet fitness for 15$ , not enough equipment to use unless you go when nobody is there which is never , tired of going to this gym and waiting around for machines , DO NOT GO HERE

I'm from the East Bay so this is like a different reality 🤯. If you've ever seen a 24 hours in Oakland area, you know what I mean. This one in Walnut Creek is super clean, large, every equipment works with plenty of spaces between each machine.

Huge plus for the restroom. It's the only 24 hours restroom that I can breath fully inside.

I am not gonna lie, I wouldnt get to this review just by myself, I was lead by an invitation to get a discount for a food on a Clarence box, I got my shit anyways he coulda just not kept it going with the encouragement nor did it, one thing is the company and business stuff and another thing is to have great ppl working in, TJ was the real one who spent more time than he coulda, that means interpersonally speaking, kinda by premise that TJ is a good person, to give love you have to be authentic in your life through you heart and honesty, furthermore, he decided to kept it going, explaining how grateful is with love and feeling free from his own soul and spirit under his own desicion to understand people, work and bring truthful to the world.
